  1. Yeah, that. (I know there's an emoticon for that, but I'm too lazy to look for it....) I think so much of the "stigma" for American Idol happens because of this: the bad audition rounds. For some reason, those seem to be the most popular episodes (not in my household). Those bad auditions seem to get so much publicity IMO -- I would venture a guess that more people know who William Hung is as compared to Taylor Hicks, for example. I think that makes people really question the validity of American Idol, even though there has been some great talent from the show. I also think that more people think of AI as a TV show first, and then maybe as a vehicle to find a recording artist. I do tend to believe that most people tend to forget about most all the contestants once the show is over. Clay, in many ways, is one of the "lucky ones" in that regard -- he still gets publicity. Even then, though....not everyone follows the careers of contestants once the show is over.
  2. liney, I'm so glad you made it to see PermaSwooned safely and soundly, and back home as well. Sounds like you had quite an adventure! But I'm sure it was worth it to meet up with a new Clay friend! Yes, muski -- NEXT WEEK! And I'll be meeting you there! EEEEEEEEEEE! I can't believe it's almost here. Thank you, everyone. Nope this is it for me, we are seeing 5 shows though SO I will have my fill. Just no time to be able to return, even if I wanted to. I am just pleased to be able to do this trek. That's me too. I had a certain enabler *coughcouchiecough* trying to convince me last night that I could do the May 4 weekend too, but I've already got something scheduled at church, plus I think my husband would divorce me. EEEEEEEEEEEEE for goldarngirl and FromClaygary! Make sure to report in, either via phone or on the board!
  3. broadway.com Spamalot Marks its 3rd Anniversary with 3-D! There's also a new picture of the trio:

  5. playbiller -- get your butt back in here and tell us about the Stage Door last night! And what was up with the 3-D glasses? As for the topic of Clay and hair: I like him with hair. *g* No offense bottlecap, but I'd love to see what kind of "artsy" album cover Clay would like. Yeah, it would make heads explode (I'll give bottlecap a motorcycle helmet to minimize damage), but it would also be a bit of an insight into the man. I'm willing.
  6. See, I always think of it like this: there are certain artists out there that I originally hated. Bon Jovi is a perfect example for me -- back in the 80's I simply HATED them. Epitome of the hair band, blech. But now, after all these years, I really like them. They are survivors, and actually, I really like much of their music now. The point is, so much of our taste is subjective. There are some people that will never ever GET Clay. And then there are those people, like this blogger, who will eventually understand and possibly even like Clay. I do too, and I'm always looking for that. Try to avoid looking for the bad in what they say, always looking for the bright side of life. (See siggy....) Love, LOVE, LOVE the new video with that CUTE UNICEF ambassador. I love the sweater too. This sounds like a very cool project as well.
  7. Banner change time! Thank you to cindilu2 for the filmstrip this week. Gah.
  8. It's an exciting time to be a Clay fan, ya'll! There is so much to look forward to in the coming weeks, months, and years. I'm thoroughly thrilled that Clay seems happy with his work in Spamalot, and probably with his work on the album. OTOH, he could seemingly be happy because of what he had for lunch earlier in the day! My point is that I guess I don't care WHY he seems so happy, I'm just glad that he IS happy. As far as Spamalot opening doors for him...I do believe that many new people are seeing Clay Aiken in a new light. "Wow, he's really good." "I didn't think he'd be right for a Monty Python show." And so on. I also do think that the man is immensely talented (or learning quickly, such as with his dancing) in so many different things. But -- I honestly do not think that every single producer in NYC is suddenly contacting him with offers left and right. I also believe that Clay will each and every offer he has very carefully...and that he might make a few mistakes along the way. IMO he's been very blessed with everything he's done, and I sincerely hope that continues. I think it must be my "realism" gene that kicks in whenever I read "dream big." I love that some of you can do that. I just like to temper things a bit.... But it's still an exciting time to be a Clay fan, ya'll! ___ muski and merrieeee -- BWAH!!! CG, for the first time in 5 years, my husband and I are actually GETTING a refund! WOOHOO! Just needed to see this again.... Finally -- I just heard from Ansa via email. She's still having a hard time posting on the board. She can read here, and send email, but she thinks the reception for her wireless isn't the best. Anyway, she says "HI!" to everyone. And then, I'm going to pull one paragraph from her email.... That's pretty darn cool....
  9. For those (like me) who are having a hard time finding the USA Today special edition, you can order it here. The cost is $4.95 plus shipping. And yes, it looks as if they ship to Canada.
  10. Well, I know there is at least a few of us who will be there on March 30 for the matinee. I already have my ticket though... Yeah, that's kind of my take on the whole thing too. This fandom, IMO, has made me very cynical. So, I try to combat it by enjoying the good things when they come my way, and ignoring the crap. And honestly -- I've probably got a bit of the "weak character" myself. I'm not as honest about things to people's faces as I probably should be. That's why I really don't want to be the boss at my workplace. *g*
  11. Happy St. Patick's Day! I fixed corned beef and cabbage yesterday for dinner (yum), even though the Irish don't do such a thing. It's still good food though. I'm still fighting the cold that started to get me this past weekend. The pill form of Zicam I think is helping somewhat. However, it's not helping my mental state all that much. I'm like muski -- work is a bear (with way too much to do), I don't feel so hot, and I'd rather be looking at pictures of boyfriend, and planning my trip to see CLAAAAAY! [/whine]
  12. Via shineinnc at the CH... Clay speaks Japanese!
  13. For muski: For 00lsee: In this one I can see he is smiling, even if it IS just his eyes: And for FCA:
  14. The Playbill write up that someone asked for earlier is FINALLY up on playbill.com! It Takes Two
  15. Actually, to me, it does look like he's had a haircut....and I think I hear 00lsee sobbing. I don't see any "curls at the nape of the neck." *sob*
  16. Hey gang! Mom is doing fine, although she looks weak after her surgery. But...hey! She's almost 87 years old! She deserves to feel a bit week after surgery earlier! merrieeee, I always tell people that my interest in Clay Aiken has made me learn soooooooooo much about technology. 5 years ago, I barely knew how to burn a damn CD. Now I can do so much -- and many of you out there know more than I do. Scarlett!!! I'm glad you checked in, and I hope you're having fun in NYC with boyfriend! That picture with him and Shannon just makes me laugh and laugh, just 'cause of the mandals. I totally agree with laljeterfan in that it seems he just wears what he wants to, you know? And you're right 00lsee -- some areas of the country, I'm sure mandals are hip and cool and all that jazz. But in others....not so much. Thing is -- does it really matter? As I said, he just seems to wear things that make him happy, and I like that. OTOH, for some reason....the close ups of his eyes do nothing for me. To me (opinion only) he looks really rather tired. I think for me, I need the eyes and the SMILE together to make me really swoon. Jerome is looking fine, I must say. annabear, the bear is sooooo cute! Happy belated birthday Gibby!!!!!!! You sly person, you! And you're only as old as you feel, you know?
  17. Clay signing a crutch! Scarlett -- where are you?!?!?!?! She wrote at the CH: From an unnamed blog (via CV): I'm off to visit my Mom today. I'll see ya'll tonight!
  18. Pretty pretty pictures from The Ideal Idol from geekette (CH)
  19. *sprays chicken soup all over FCA and sends a text to Sir Robin about heading over to ldyj's with plenty of Lysol* Sorry, chickie...If he's coming over, I don't want him to get sick again. lol BWAH!! Now I'm coughing because I'm laughing! Hee. I stopped at big bad evil WalMart before going home and found some Zycam. Isn't that the stuff playbiller keeps talking about? Anyway, I'm trying it out to see if it will help me shake a cold that much sooner. In the meantime, I'm going to lay here with my kitty cats and my laptop. Ooo, and I should get some tea now too.
  20. Awwww laughn -- when we see you smile, we can face the world, we can do anything. *g* Great picture, and I'm so happy for you! luckiest1 writes the best recaps. Just sayin'. And with that, I think I might beg out of work early. I think you guys breathed on my computer, for it feels like my head is filling up with gunk. And I cannot be sick!
  21. Thanks for posting that bottlecap. I'm really surprised that we didn't have that in our archives here. BTW, if anyone wants Searching at FCA 101, PM me and I'll try to give some helpful handy-dandy hints. Or maybe I'll just start a thread....
