We love SYTYCD ... we watched Seasons 1 & 2 and couldn't wait for this season to start. I think Nigel and the other judges/choreographers are very entertaining ... The Three Bores (Simon, Paula, and Randy) should take notes!

I totally agree about the judges..and on this show there are more than three..and they aren't there all the time. It's definitely times for the AI judges to be replaced..bring some freshness!!

OK liked the clogger. Liked the football player..hope he makes it through even though he is new to dance. Dad needs to stop tripping --- that guy seemed so small, he surely had no big career as a football player.

I need a big strong buck to root for though heee. Where are they?

I was a little disappointed last night because so many of the people they focused on were shown the door. I guess that made for good tv. I do think the ones that were focused on that make it though will have an advantage. I have a feeling that there will be many strangers in the top 20.

ETA: oops have my people mixed up

On the whole, I was pleased with final selection of finalists. It was great to see Hok there, and I liked seeing Lacey there as well.

It was interesting that siblings of Benji, Stanislaus, and Travis all made the final cut. I know that's raised some eyebrows, but I've heard the dance world really is much smaller than most imagine. It will be interesting to see whether their family relationships have any effect on fan support.

Of course, the competition is really just beginning. Anything can happen over the course of the show, depending on how well the contestants perform within the format. There are some amazing modern dancers like Danny and Ricky, but how would they interract with, say, a hip-hop dancer or a latin specialist? Some dancers are exceptionally skilled in their genre, but weak in others. And there are a lot of people who may be perfectly good performers but who, for some reason, are forgettable in a crowd. The first to be eliminated are not often the worst ones. They're the ones people just don't remember.

I can't wait to see how they pair them all.

HELLO? Is this thing on? That was so entertaining....

I'm a little over half way through and so far my favorite is Jesus and his partner..they did that stunning/fun dance choreographed by Wade Robson.

I also love Hok.

I'm already biased against Lacy...I really hope Benjie isn't there every week in the audience. To me she has a real advantage and it isn't fair. And I hated her dance.

Because on the other end of the spectrum are people I'm going..where did they come from. I felt like they got NO face time. Not fair especially in the first couple of weeks because fan bases have already started to form.

I've been really impressed with most of the dances. The fun for me is seeing people dance outside of their specialty.

I, too, love Jesus and Sara! I was also impressed with Pasha and Jessi. They really did a breathtaking waltz. And I love Hok, too. I'm really hoping he can pull off the ballroom and contemporary routines.

I thought she danced well, but I find myself not liking her either, and I was a Benji fan. I think it's because of the clip where she bragged that she had one more title than Benji. Of course, she's the YOUTH champion, but he had adult titles, which would seem to me to be more significant.

I do think that, on the whole, the level of talent is much higher this year. I suspect that more professional dancers are trying out, having come to the realization that this show can transform their careers. I will be sad to see anyone go, because at this stage, I don't think anyone has really performed badly.

And though Ricky and Ashlee were awkward on tango, I would be surprised to see them go. In the early rounds (as in Idol), the worst sin is not to be bad, but to be forgettable. Everyone remembers them, and if anything, the prediction will motivate his fans to vote. In greater danger are Sabra and Dominick (the disco duo), or Faina and Cedrick (hop hop), IMHO.

I totally loved it too.

ITA on Lacy Jenna...that turnedme off too and the fact that she was the first one to greetmost people that foudn out if they were in or out...kinda a bit too look at me. BUT...I was totally blown away with her contemporary piece. I just love contemporary style and she totally committed to it. I guess last season Mia had a hard time working with benjie and Heidi and so this was a bit test for Lacy and I think she was one of the best last night.

I also loved Jesus and sara...I loved Hok and his partner and I hope Ricky survives.

I think the disco couple should go.

I do think this is a very strong group too.

Oh love Jessi and Pasha.

The competition is really going to be strong this year. I am so amazed at what these kids can do. When you consider often they are dancing outside of their "genre", and have to learn a group dance every week.

I like Lacy, I don't know why. There just must be a lot of personality in that family. I don't really care much for Mia's choreography, but I respect that it must be pretty difficult based on what I remember from last season. I give Lacy credit for really going for it.

I picked Ashlee to go based on her solo, but I was sure surprised at Ricky. I thought his solo was great, and that Dominick's was the one that looked kind of limited in scope. Maybe the judges saw different solos than I did. Hee

I don't really have a favorite yet, but I really do like this show. It gives me the enjoyment I used to get from AI.

The right girl went tonight. The guys were tougher. Basically, pick a name from a hat. The cute kid that went last ..he was so choked up..all he could say was he wanted to cry. This means a lot to him but I don't know how far he'll get. He did well in his genre.. but think he will struggle with other stuff.

Anyway, I'm satisfied with this week. The guys were tough any way you slice it.

Well, I guess I was wrong about Ashlee and Ricky. Sabra, Dominick, Faina and Cedrick were in the bottom, which I did predict, but I thought Ricky had more fans. He is a great dancer, but I'll admit, I didn't vote for him. (Personally, I find him a bit pretentious.) However, I was sure the judges would save him.

Having seen the solos, I can see why Dominick was kept. He really does have personality, which he showed when he took off his shirt. I think he knows how to entertain, which for television, is certainly valuable. Cedrick does seem limited, but I guess the judges see potential in him, and he can be fun to watch. I really thought they'd save Ricky, because he does have talent, but maybe they did feel he didn't take the solo seriously enough. I can't help but wonder if Nigel just doesn't really like him. I was impressed with his response to Dominick staying. Made me like him a little more than I did. He'll be fine. No doubt, Mia would hire him in a second.

As for the girls, it did seem like an easy choice. Faina's dance was sexy and fun. Sabra was beautiful, so Ashlee seemed rather bland by comparison. However, you really do feel sorry for anyone who gets cut this early, because they really haven't had the chance to demonstrate their full potential.

Well I just read a little background about what dominic did...

from CH SleeplessInCA wrote:

The nipple thing actually had a point............

At the Monday taping, Nigel commented (during judging) on how you could see Dominic's nipples through his shirt. It was kind of funny and awkward at the same time (it was kind of like when Nigel made that rude comment about Benji pulling up his shirt after the Tranji--but not as mean). That part of the judges commentary was cut from the Wed. broadcast. So Dominic's "nipple" routine would have made more sense if that part hadn't been cut.

That truly made more sense now. He was not just gutsy...but snarky too.

I do think Nigel already labeled Ricky as odd in his mind. I agree Mia will probably hire him.

I love it too.,..but I'm just watching it now.. everybody is WONDERFUL!

Loved Dominic and Sabra... and when she danced last week I was like..where the hell did she come from and I knew she was at a disadvantage. Hopefully after this week, people will get to know them and give them both a chance. Loved it.

Oh gosh I loved this show too...and I do love Dominic and sabra...but I love almost all of them. I am having a hard time choosing who should go. I think Cedric did the worse on his partnering...but I still saw a lot of potential from him in some of his movements. the only problem with him was confidence and I also thoguht they choreography had too much other steps that wasn't fox trot...

Dominic made me love him when he admitted he was scared to Mia...gosh what vulnerability from such a tough guy. Great TV moment IMO...and the story of Danny was truly touching. I bet travis and his family feels so proud of him.

I think every thursday will be hard cos I don;t want anyone to go at this point.

My other favorite is Jesus and Sara. I loved them again this week and they were my favorite last week. Hopefully my two couples stick around a few weeks to build a fan base. I think they are appealing and are both energetic and good and have chemistry.

Yeah I like them too. I find sara really very cute.

ah ...I do think Hok might end up in the bottom. But I think with him and Cedric...give them enough time to get used to the new style and they can really get better than pros.

OK so what do ya'll think of the judges choice to keep Cedric over Jimmy. I guess I wasn' t so upset because Jimmy was not a favorite of mine. I also appreciated that they explained their reasoning and it did seem to be a hard decision. They see some spark in the kid and want to give him more of a chance. I think they did something similar last year. Anyway, I don't think they'd sacrifice one of their strongest dancers. It will be intersting to see if Cedric can rise to the occassion next week.

I was just happy my two couples were safe. Yay for Jesus, Sarah, Sabra and Dominic...especially Sabra and Dominic. They escaped the bottom 3 this week and were so thrileed about it.

Well at first I was sure Cedric was gone. But then he danced his solo...and he was soooo goood!!! It wasn't just unique but he had wonderful lines and his moves were not just hip hop....they were very contemporary. I also loved him for the way he reacted to what the judges were saying. I loved his answer to Kats question...he was at peace. I think this guys main problem is in his head and confidence. I think if the choreographer gave him a more conventional fox trot lines and made him rehearse the technique over and over again, he probably would;ve been more comfortable with it and pulled it off. The problem is...instead of teaching him the dance they were helping him to fake it. But really, if seen as an overall performance their dance was not bad at all.

I did like Jimmy, but in this field, he is just another guy that dances well. I couldn't really remember his name cos I was mixing him up with Danny, and Jesus. But Cedric had a quality the others don;t have and I'm glad he is going to be given another chance. I also thought Nigel was unfair cos last week they were in the bottom entirely because of Faina.

My daughter in law and I watch the show together and I told her I was pretty sure that Cedric was a goner. I'm with you Ansa, these kids seems to be putting so much of themselves into their dances that I just hate to see any of them go. I still don't have a clear favorite because I respect how hard all of them are working. This is some darn hard choreograpy they are having to learn in such a short time, and how well they have each danced outside of their own specialty has really impressed me.

Were Jesus and Sarah the ones that did the samba to "We Will Rock You"? If so, I thought they were great, but were handicapped by that choice of music. I agreed with Nigel on that one.
