Congratulations cindilu on the jump to school! I'm sure you'll do fine!

CG, thanks for your report on your latest trip, and I'm glad you had fun.

*tackles keepingfaith*

Well, my job continues to keep on sucking. The hiring committee (of which I am part) decided on a new person today, as our final hire. By the first of the year, we will be at full staff! OTOH, the decision was terribly hard, but in the end, we went with the "unknown quantity" rather than "someone who has worked for us before, did a great job...except for that one incident." Oh, and the person who wasn't hired is good friends with another person on the hiring committee (also one of my co-workers). It's just crazy. And I want to bury myself in the covers and hide for the next two days.

Man, I need a Clay fix. Just over 30 days until I get to see him live!

Happy to see keepingfaith back where she belongs! :thbighug-1:

Fed up with the kind of 'friend' you described, justclay--I'm with wanda on this one. :glare:

Happy for cindilu and her new path! You go, girl!

Sad for luckiest and her lack-a-clack (ie, pic with Clay ;)

Happy for CG and her NYC Spam redux with lurker buddy. :BlowKiss:

And in writhing pain and pity for myself, who just left the fucking endodontist's office after another two hours in the Chair of Misery and Pain, only to be told that I have to go back AGAIN for another "just an hour" appointment because things are STILL too inflamed and bleeding to finish off the fucking root canal. :ruserious:

So does this particular sadist dentist go with the 'third time's the charm' adage? :finger: All I know is that for most of the 'treatment' today, that whole side of my face was throbbing. I thought all those shots of novacaine were supposed to prevent that? :asking02:

:AddEmoticons04212:

:drugsneeded: I got my Vicadin (sp?) and I say that in times like these.....

And I would add to this.... why are they still talking about him/it, if they are so against him/it? It's so.... yesterday. Really folks - if you don't/won't/can't support him - why are you still here??? Who, exactly, are you trying to convince? Methinks they doth protest too much. Whatever - I have zero tolerance or compassion for them. And if you are my friend, you won't speak ill of someone I so clearly admire to me. Pretty please, just FOAD.

You know what? I am SO not into personal stuff on the boards, but shhstuff like this just makes me want to share my day today. Today, for the first time in 25+ years, I went to school. Thanks in large part to the the things I've learned from being a Clay fan, and in no small measure thanks to the inspiration of a certain tall, lanky sometimes-redheaded singer, I am now a full-time student, enrolled in a diploma program for Graphic Art and Web Design. I was never able to pursue a post-secondary education after highschool - and then a pesky little need to eat has kept me in a dead-end workforce ever since. Today, I hope, I started on a new path. Thanks, Clay.

I'm with you Cindilu. Don't understand why people haven't moved on with their lives if they are over him. And part of that moving on is finding something new to talk about with your old Clay friends. I was in a fan group before and we spent a lot of time chatting and got together a couple of times. Yet 10 years later of the 30 or so people who used to chat every single day - there are just 4 of us that are still friends. When I stopped doing the thing that brought us all together it seems I had nothing else in common with 26 people. That's life. I got over it.

Congrats on going back to school...it seems to me that you and your field of study are a match made in heaven.

CG thanks for the report. Hugs LdyJ. I hope your new hire turns into a huge blessing. You deserve it.

cindilu, so glad it went well today! I was thinking about you all day! :thbighug-1:

Well, except for those few hours that I was thinking about Clay :whistling-1: ...but you were in the back of my mind too....honest!

Would also like to add my opinion on those who are unhappy, but will not leave. I was reading some of the other boards and people being upset about Jimmy Kimmel's joking last night. You get the impression from some that it's OK for Clay to be gay, as long as no one talks about it, refers to it, or, God forbid, makes light of it. There are a lot of ostriches out there, still! The man has not changed, but some people's perception has. To put it crudely...I really wish they would either shit or get off the pot.

Well, here's another culprit that would give almost anything for the opportunity of a pic with Clay~and is a participant in the "take a picture with my sign please" crew. As that's likely the only opportunity I'll ever have (and I'm not so sure about that one), I will appreciate it greatly and THANKS SCARLETT! for giving us the chance.

To each his own.

I actually plan to enjoy my time going to Spamalot in January. A lot.

Cindilu2, glad your new life has started...congratulations!

Claylove, I know how hard it is to give them the "Wandacleo" treatment :hysterical:...but it could be time. Don't forget, too, you have many, many friends whose opinion has not changed one iota. :whistling-1: We love him like-buckets!!

Congratulations, cindilu2! I would bet there are very few CA fans who don't have at least one of your graphics/calendars/animations saved on their hard drive. Me? I could write your resume! Bravo!

I've just been informed that I won the Nigerian lottery. Isn't that amazing?? And I didn't even have to enter! What to do with all my new-found wealth.

LOL, I received that email, too. :cryingwlaughter:

Go, Wandacleo! :Iluvclaysbutt:

I'm trying to get used to Vista and a touch pad with wheels. I hope this gets fun ... SOON!

Have a great week, FCA! :BlowKiss:

Well, I have to say that of all the jokes made at Clay's expense this most recent jab from Jimmy was sorta funny. It was one of a string of quickies aimed at a bunch of celebrities and compared to most of the others, it was benign. I mean...what's the big deal? He made a comment that although what'shername who wrote the song, "I Kissed a Girl and I liked It" liked kissing a girl, Clay Aiken didn't.

Well....duh. The man's gay. So that would lead me to believe that he'd prefer to kiss a guy. Can't see anything really crappy about Jimmy's particular joke, especially since we know that Clay and Jimmy have a friendly relationship. Now I also heard about a 'joke' that Kathy Griffin added to her pitiful comedy repertoire and THAT one I found crude and crappy---but expected since it came from her.

Oh, and by the way, I happen to believe that if Clay ever gets an acting role in which he is called upon to kiss a woman passionately, he'll somehow find a way to do so convincingly. :Thud:

muski, even in pain you manage to come up with things to make me laugh. Sorry about your mouth.

And CG, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I'm actually agreeing with you a lot lately. I liked Jonathan Hadary in the part better for the very same reasons that you said, plus he was always so great to Clay, so even if he had sucked (which he didn't), I would have given him a pass. I hadn't really appreciated him as much in the beginning because there are so many great actors in the show that I took him for granted. I liked that he didn't try to make it all about him, which is how I see the this new king. Also agree about Merle. Great voice but not a natural comedian.

I can't wait until tomorrow and also for January 4th to get to meet all of you who are coming who have such great taste in a certain singer/actor/comedian/humanitarian/cutiepie.

And since I can't post at the CH, could someone who is a member there add me to the list of people who would think it would be very hot to see Clay kiss a man or a woman. So add me on to the pervert list please.

Oh, and FromCalgary, I think you had the wrong poster. I was the one with the ex-Clay fan acquaintance. I'd actually met her through Spamalot, which just shows how big a hypocrite she is. She was ok watching Spam and talking about how Jesse and Sean might have something going on, but it's against her religious beliefs to actually support those heathens. She even gave me that old line about having "friends and a family member who was gay". I told her to get a new line cuz that ones been used before. And although I personally have rebelled against church going, my daughter does go every Sunday and she has sense enough to believe that who someone sleeps with, as long as its between consenting adults, is no one else's damn business.

So..can anyone recommend a free programme that converts wmv into an mpeg4 so that I can d/l and carry around some of my favourite montages.

Cindilu2 Congratulations on starting on your new path!

Okay, wth is everybody? I'm in a crappy mood right now so feel free to scroll. I just got an email from one of those ex-Clay fans explaining to me all about how they cannot condone Clay's behavior, blah blah blah. How do they excuse theirs, is what I want to know. And no, I'm not patient like Clay so my response was not pleasant. Been reading too many idiot posts on political boards from anti-gay and anti-gay marriage people and it has put me in a foul mood.

I'd tell the bitch to bugger off. I'm sick to death of the anti-gay bigoted bullshit. I had my fill of it prior to the election when we were bombarded with hate ads for Proposition 8. My one consolation with Clay's ex-fans is that they are no loss.

(God, I'm so glad I didn't promise to give up swearing!)

justclay... I totally agree! Of all the people who have dropped Clay cause he's nasty now (gag me) only one lives her religion and loves him still but can't support his way of life. Her I truly felt sorry for cause it tore her apart. The others... I just hope one day they see the errors of their ways.

wanda... what kills me about the Prop 8 stuff is all those who are now coming out against it... that's easy to do now that the damage is done... idiots!!!

And I would add to this.... why are they still talking about him/it, if they are so against him/it? It's so.... yesterday. There are a lot of programs out there, and I know Scarlett, Thankful and lucky have all used different ones. They may have some good ideas for you. I use the Im TOO MPEG Encoder, which converts to and from just about any kind of file. That link is for a free download, but the free version only allows 3 minute clips. I paid for it because I like it so much.

You can also get LOTS of mpegs from the vaults.

Have fun!!

Sorry FromClaygary, I missed claylove's post. I guess many of us have had to deal with people who have their head up their asses.

This person that I know is bugging me though because right after we heard Clay's news, she asked how I felt and I said I was shocked but still loved and supported and lusted and all that other good stuff. She sent me an email back saying how she was so mad that she wasn't going to say anything so I left her be because I really didn't want to hear about it, then yesterday I get this email telling me how she was leaving because she couldn't support him. Well, I had pretty much figured that out from the first email. I didn't need her emailing me with that kind of crap, so I told her off. I think I got my last email from her though since I pissed her off. She told me I only accepted people's beliefs if they agreed with my own, which is partially true. However, if someones belief doesn't hurt anyone else, I don't particularly care if they want to worship at the altar of little green men. But if your religion discriminates or condones hate, then no I don't accept it. Of course, I'm probably mistaken because, afterall, she went to a Bible academy so she must know what she's talking about.

Edited because I should actually spell FromClaygary's name right.

My day will come, my day will come, my day will come................I have to keep believing it. I would give anything to have the opportunity for any sort of a photo op with Clay, especially one that is within my limited budget. It's hard to read about others who don't feel the same way. Que sera, sera. To each his/her own I guess.

2 and a half more weeks until I get to head back to NYC! :lilredani::dancingpickle:

I hope your day does come, luckiest. Everyone who wants something like this should have their chance. I guess for me, Spam is so much more than Clay so for something that is a Spamalot memory, I want more than Clay. Plus, I have never even wanted to meet Clay (except when a friend gets a M&G and then for one second I get jealous....). I shake his hand at bus lines and all, but haven't entered any M&Gs. I guess I prefer my fantasy of Clay and don't want to take the chance (however slight that might be...) of having that fantasy shattered by meeting him. Of course, you don't get to actually know Clay at those M&G. He only lets you see what he wants you to see (as he should). I had thought about trying to get a picture with him at the stage door in October, but when I watched all the insanity and pushing and shoving just to have 2 seconds with Clay preserved in a digital image, it just didn't seem worth it.

There's something to be said about lusting drooling over obsessing over admiring someone from afar!

IMO, that is a shame - and I suspect Clay would be the first person to tell you that. You are missing sooooo much and missing a very talented cast doing what they do best.

I know Clay appreciates that. I just wish more of his fans did. He is terrific in the show, but is NOT the show. It is an ensemble show and you're cheating yourself if you don't watch more than just Clay.

IMO.

And CG, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I'm actually agreeing with you a lot lately. Hey justclay12, I am just thrilled when ANYONE agrees with me! It happens so rarely! ;)

Muski, sorry about your dental woes! Now I know why I never go to a dentist!

Oh, and under the category of "Clay turns up in the strangest places".....

Sunday morning in our hotel room we had on the NFL channel while we were getting ready. They were talking about something concerning my home town quarterback and how he hadn't realized NFL games couldn't end in a tie (Who knew? tm The King) They were doing a bit of commentary and the guy was talking about how we all don't know things we should and the next thing you know, they are showing some guys sitting around a conference table and one of them says "Hey guys. Did you see this? Can you believe this? This can't be true!" and he held up the People magazine cover - you know which one. They then went on other things, but they ended the bit with the guy just staring at the cover and saying "Tell me this isn't true. How can this be true. Who would ever have known!" or something like that.

Then the commentators said something about how they were going to hear it now from the Clay fans!

Not that I suspect many Clay fans are tuned into to the NFL channel on a Sunday morning.....

Ok, maybe it loses something in translation but is was funny! Sure, they are implying anyone should have guessed Clay is gay, but I honestly think most casual observers did (at least most I know...). But it was not done in a derogatory manner.

And honestly, did you ever think you would hear Clay's name on the NFL channel???

Cindilu2--yay! ;)

Muskifest--boo! :( I'm sorry to hear you're in pain. I've had to have a lot of work done on my mouth too, so I can relate.

*reads the stuff about the hyperventilators still obsessing over the Clay is Gay revelation* Man, people are stupid. Gay Clay, straight Clay--who cares? He's Clay Clay.

Lotus, I use Videora and I really like it. It's very simple, which is good because I'm computer illiterate, and is also pleasantly quick. And I don't think it takes up that much space... Best part, it's a completely free download. It also downloads a YouTube converter, but I've only used that once. (I wanted the video for The Way... it was blurry, unfortunately. While the .wmv conversions' quality usually gets better when I put it on my iPod, the YouTube one stayed the same... I wonder why that is?

ETA: BWAH, Claygasm! I'd be one of the few Clay fans watching the NFL Channel (you know... if I had cable... *sigh). They're a wee bit late aren't they?

I wonder if the fans of Angelina and Brad get sick of the jokes about their expanding family? But it's just a handle to hang a laugh line on, based on Name Recognition. Where comedy is concerned, it's really not a matter of respect -- or it wouldn't be funny. So, as they say, as long as they're spelling the name right, it's a plus. I think Clay will laugh with the jokes now -- he apparently did at the Friar's Roast. He's a funny guy and he can dish it out, and he can take it! As long as they're spelling, or pronouncing, his name right, as they say.

Cindilu! Congratulations on going for the credentials -- you already have the talent!

Clay Aiken's Bubel/Aiken Foundation Raises Over $500,000 to Benefit Children With Disabilities at Gala Honoring the 2008 'Champions Of Change'

By: PR Newswire

Nov. 24, 2008 10:00 AM

RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Supporters of The Bubel/Aiken Foundation helped to raise over $500,000 at its recent gala honoring the 2008 "Champions of Change." The inspirational evening was held on October 18, 2008 at the Raleigh Marriott City Center in North Carolina. The moneys raised will be used to provide children with disabilities the opportunity to play, learn and grow side-by-side with their typical peers.

The gala benefit celebration featured dinner and addresses by Foundation co-founders Diane Bubel and Clay Aiken. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in both a silent and a live auction in support of the Foundation's programs. The night was capped with a special performance by Clay Aiken, including songs from his newest release On My Way Here.

The Foundation selects "Champions of Change" for their substantive efforts to extend the boundaries of the human experience to children of all abilities, in keeping with the Foundation's mission of supporting communities with inclusive programs and creating awareness about the possibilities that inclusion can bring.

This year's honorees are:

* CVS Caremark was named 2008 "Corporate Champion of Change" for their outstanding efforts to improve the lives of children with disabilities. The company's All Kids Can Program has made a 5-year $25 million dollar commitment to making life easier for children with disabilities. Through this signature program, CVS Caremark and the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust will support non-profit organizations that provide innovative programs and services in local communities focused on ensuring that children with disabilities learn, play and succeed in life. Learn more at www.cvsallkidscan.com

* Dan Habib and Betsy McNamara were honored as 2008 "Champions of Change" for turning their personal goal of educational and social inclusion for their son, Samuel, into a universal goal of ensuring that all children have the tools to reach their full potential. The result is the film Including Samuel, which tells their son's story of inclusion, along with the trials and triumphs of four other subjects.

* Rich Donovan was recognized as a 2008 "Champion of Change" for applying his world-class business acumen to creating means of empowerment for people with disabilities. As CEO of Integrated Process Solutions, Mr. Donovan provides large corporations and governments with ready-for-action profit opportunities as a "return on disability." Rich, who happens to have cerebral palsy, is Board Chairman of Lime Connect, showing real-life solutions - and real financial advantages - to hiring, working with, and providing products and services for people with disabilities.

The Bubel/Aiken Foundation serves to bridge the gap that exists between young people with special needs and the world around them. By providing services and financial assistance, the Foundation supports communities and programs in creating awareness and opportunities for full inclusion where barriers break and doors open. Its goal is to create an environment for children where inclusion is embraced. To learn more about The Bubel/Aiken Foundation or find ways to get involved visit their website at www.bubelaiken.org.

And since I can't post at the CH, could someone who is a member there add me to the list of people who would think it would be very hot to see Clay kiss a man or a woman. So add me on to the pervert list please.

Heh, so now I'm a pervert too? Oh well, I'll take it. I agree that Clay kissing anyone passionately would be HAWT. :hubbahubba:

I actually plan to enjoy my time going to Spamalot in January. A lot.

Me too!! So excited!!

And Yes, Spamalot is ALL about CLAY to me.

Mine will be one of the faces in that sea-of-faces turned to watch his every move.

I will enjoy every moment.

Hee, I love Spamalot. Loved it before Clay was even in it. But when Clay is in the cast, my eyes are just drawn to him at all times. He is like a magnet. I totally appreciate the rest of the cast too, but there is no way I can look away from Clay when he is on the stage. I actually bought my tickets purposefully in 3 different areas of the theatre, so that I could have a different vantage point for each show. 2nd row on the aisle, 7th row centre, and then 1st row mezzanine. My son is coming with me, and he cares more about Rick & Tom & David (not to mention the LOTL ;) ). I think we will both have a great view! Is it December 11th yet? Wheeeeeeeee! Only 16 more days! :dancingpickle:

ETA: Cool new pictures, merrieeee! So Rosie had a "gala" yesterday?
