FYI...

FCA Timeless Tour Section

There's an attendees thread -- please either post there or PM me and I'll add you to the master list.

There's also a thread for each of the venues. Use those for party planning and things like that. When those shows hit and we'll be jointly listening to cellcerts, that's where we'll squeee and eeeee. And finally, after the show, recaps can go there.

As far as the cover goes...yeah, still loving it. I love smiling Clay so very much, but his expression in this picture just fits the entire mood of the project. Suave. Smooth (except for the stubble, heh). Sophisticated.

And yet...I see where others have said, that he looks so young as well. In my mind, that's gotta be the freckles talking.

The retro touches sell the album to me. That's called "details," and I think those are great. "Stereo" still cracks me up!

The enigmatic man-child strikes again, and I love him all the more.

<Stereo>? Man, he should be recorded in quadraphonic! (I have no earthly idea what that is, I just vaguely remember it as an extra good something on LPs...

Crappity, crap, crap...had our taxes done today and looks like we are going to have to change our vacation plans...we had planned on going to the Ashville concert; but now that we have to pay taxes, not going to happen. I was so excited when I realized the timing of the concert worked out perfectly with our vacation and my hubby was actually looking forward to going. But as usual, every time we plan something it get's screwed up...I should know better.

Oh well, at least I have the Hammond, Ind. concert to look forward to...better than no concert at all...always have to look on the brights. Still going to be a great summer of Clay!

Going back to drool over that CD Cover :flirtysmile3:

I actually had the same thought! I've seen people mention the show "Mad Men" (which I've never seen) in the cover's styling...and from what I know, everyone on that show smokes like chimneys and drinks like fishes! (Wait -- do fish drink?)

I just can't wait to get my hands on that CD :flirtysmile3:

Are you watching the Twins game?

We just received our tickets today for game in May. It's tough getting tickets.

Of course I'm watching. I just spent a week and a half in Ft. Myers at Spring Training. Saw them play 6 times. Every game was a sellout down there. Plus .. they won every game we saw!!!! :flirtysmile3:

We considered going down to spring training, but the airfare was too much. Are you coming up to see a game at Target Field?

Well if you ever have the opportunity, I'd grab it. It was a great vacation. We're going to try to come up for a series in July. We'll buy on the secondary market if we do. We did that for all the Spring Training games and got awesome seats. Prices were relative. Not nearly as expensive as seeing 6 Clay concerts. :cryingwlaughter:

Took some (mumblemumble700mumblemumble) pictures. I can email you some if you'd like.

The album cover really has me doing some thinking...dangerous, I know. cryingwlaughter.gif

First of all, with this retro look -- how fitting it is that many of these shows are going to be in casinos! Just over half of the announced shows are in that kind of venue.

This then makes me wonder...will Clay be playing more of a "character" this time around? The "lounge lizard" singer -- except that he has the vocal chops to wow the audience? And will Ruben be his straight man side-kick? Will he keep this kind of look for his clothes and hair?

While I honestly think Clay will still be Clay for most of the show, it does make me imagine that, and I actually kind of like it.

Just imagining Clay walking out on stage in the outfit on the CD cover...wowza! I could actually see them doing that...can't imagine Clay going back to the jeans, shirt, tie combo from a few years ago. He may not want to do suit coat and slacks for the outdoor venues if it is hot...but you never know. I think this is going to be a fun tour!

I made the cover my laptop wallpaper... I used the high-res, though, so the top is cut off and all I'm left with is a big, huge, gorgeous picture of Clay... *thud*

Much as I like the other stuff too, I think I can live with this. *thud*

Gotta go to *thud* work now. Just as soon as I pick myself up... maybe regain control of my motor capacities...

Hee, I did the same thing, and while that wasn't what I was going for, I think I'll leave it. flirtysmile3.gif

Same here, can't see his hands or the top of his name, but everything I do see looks pretty amazing! Took me awhile to warm up to it, though. Didn't love it, didn't hate it...but now...WOW! :flirtysmile3:

I cannot tell you how much a pleasure it was to check in here to an angst=-free zone about the album cover. I can appreciate that some may not like it. What is hard to read are those posts that suggest that the poster believes she is the arbiter of all things commercial about the impact of album cover on sales and appeal to the general public. In my humble opinion some are too hung up on "there are soooooo many more handsome pics of Clay." Sure there are, but that is not the point of fashioning the album cover, I don't think. Here is what I wrote at the OFC:

When I first logged on to CV and saw that a picture that just might be the album art was available I clicked on without reading any of the comments. My first impression -WOW! I loved the mood, the colors, and of course the subject. I didn't think this is the best picture ever that shows Clay in all his handsomeness-(I think AIW and ATDW did that for me) but that really wasn't an issue for me in terms of how this pic worked as an album cover. It conveyed a mood and a feel that seemed perfect for the era and just as importantly for my enjoyment seemed like a work of art, classy. I also found it eye-catching, intriguing, important qualities in perhaps encouraging the casual buyer to pick it up and look at it and actually read the track list.

I have read comments such as "dull" and I find it just the opposite. I cannot wait until it is available. And if the record were available in LP format? Be still my heart. One of the reasons that I miss LPs is for the art-how terrific to have this available.

And although I have seen what I believe to be more "handsome" pics of Clay, I still like this picture of him very much. And I think it works beautifully for the project.

Well done, Clay.

So excited about the tour!!!! duckyvee and I will be going to Reno (across the country) and also Lancaster, PA...15 minutes from my home!) Looking forward to seeing many of you at all the concerts.

For those who can remember, did they show the OMWH album art before they had the tracklist on Amazon? I am having fun checking the rankings again. Ealier in the week it was in the #800's. It was as high as #75 yesterday. The tour announcement on AI contributed to the increase (pretty good as Clay didn't sing) but I think the addition of the album art was responsible for the increase increase in rank.
