  1. I just received my latest BAF Newsletter in my email, and it had this link in it: A Day to Remember: Champions of Change 2008 The mention of "used clothes salesman" cracked me up!
  2. I had totally forgotten that Wanda Sykes was on Clay's first Tonight Show appearance! I loved Clay being "afraid" of Wanda's reaction to his turning his feet around...and then her true reaction was priceless! That was so much fun! Good for Wanda -- more power to her. CG, I hear ya on the "covers" thing. There have been more than a few instances (not just Clay related) where I didn't like the original song, but liked it when someone "reimagined" the song. And if I did like the original, many times a new version will make me even more impressed. For me, BW and HYCA were the two on ATDW that did that for me -- the arrangements knocked my socks off, and having Clay sing them were amazing. I'll have to look for the James Taylor album, and that Seal album as well. That picture?
  3. Reviving this thread to say.... CAN'T ANYONE READ A FREAKIN' CLUE CORRECTLY? The frat boys are definitely on my last nerve -- they can't read clues correctly; they constantly whine; their attitude is totally fatalistic. AAAAARGH. I like Sarah; can't stand Terrence. My favorite team is definitely Toni and Dallas. Dallas was a hoot tonight in the cow costume, and I like a team that can have fun, especially this late in the race. I'm thinking that Nick and Star will get overconfident and lose somewhere down the line.
  4. See if this link works cha cha: Claybella's pictures on the OFC
  5. Ugly Duckling download from Clack Unlimited I have to get that on my iPod! I haven't listened to it in forever! BTW...while I do have a key to the CH vault, and support it with some money once in a while, I also use Clack Unlimited -- and support them financially as well. I know times and money are tight, but I really feel that CU is a valuable, valuable service. Support them if you can. [/PSA]
  6. Reports from the CH and CB say that Clay is out for the matinee. Poor baby. I hope he gets better soon! I also feel badly for those people who have traveled long distances to see the show and Clay. Scarlett -- MUAH! I'll try my best to get something to you by the end of the week! Is there anyone here affected by the California wildfires? Scary stuff. I hope everyone is OK, and that there won't be much more damage or many lives affected.
  7. Thanks bottlecap! It really surprised me to come back to the vaults after being gone a week and finding only 4 clips added -- 2 stage doors, the Dr. Phil clip, and a broadway tv clip. I was rather bummed that the PSA wasn't there! Have a good nap....
  8. I think this is a fabulous idea - and more money for BC/EFA too. If somebody will adopt us, I'd love one too. I bet they'd think it's a cool idea too. Actually, that IS quite a good idea. Plus, I just thought of an added bonus -- muski and I each share the same first name. We could each make a donation (if muski can afford it, that is), with just two takes of the same "sign." Laundry sucks. cha cha, I'm sorry to hear about your black eyes and bumps and bruises. Hope you are feeling better.
  9. Luggage finally made it home last night about 7:30 p.m. This means, of course -- LAUNDRY!!! Blech. muski, sorry to hear about your dental work. I've always firmly believed in doing regular check-ups and brushing my teeth twice a day, and so far, it has paid off for me big time. YAY CG -- I'm glad you're getting to see Clay again. At this point, I'm starting to count the days until my trip to NYC!!!! I'm also going to have to convince my husband that I want to see Spam more than once. LOL. Our hotel is just down from the Shubert, so if nothing else, I should be able to do a few stage doors, if he's doing them, that is. I'm bummed...I missed out on getting the Christmas story book from the BAF. It sounds as if they went very quickly. Do you think they'll reprint? Or does anyone have an extra that they would be willing to "sell" me, for my own donation to the BAF? Also, repeating a request from yesterday -- is there a rip of the UNICEF PSA that came out a few days ago? So very glad he's back with the show, and those that were trying all week to see him were finally able to do so. This needs to be on this page, IMO...
  10. Oh pooh. Just as I had hopes...that'll teach me (once again, I should learn that better in this fandom). From the CH:
  11. *hugs fellow Lutheran Gibby* It truly makes me sad when ALL organized religion gets a bum rap for the idiocy (IMO) of a few churches. My particular church does NOT mention politics in the pulpit, as I see it should be. But...my pastor has had an Obama sticker on his car since early February. Hee. We also have a parishioner at our church who has a bumper sticker that reads: "God is not a Republican...or a Democrat." I've always loved that. Having said that, I agree couchie, I'm hoping that the example you posted about is an exception.
  12. I'm sitting in the car shop, for its regularly scheduled maintenance. Except, of course, that it's really not, because besides the oil change, I need two new tires and have to have the washer tank repaired. *sigh* It's so much fun getting back to the real world. Still not totally recovered from the trip, and my husband seems to be coming down with a head cold. Oh, and we still don't have our luggage -- for some reason, it ended up in Baltimore, MD last night. Gibby, you mentioned that the Magic Kingdom was your favorite of the Disney Parks. I have to say that I'd have a hard time picking a favorite, but it seemed to me that the MK was getting a little frayed around the edges, especially for adults. But the kids around us LOVED that place. EPCOT is such a good learning experience in many ways, and I will always love Soarin', where you feel like you're hang gliding over several beautiful areas of the USA. Mission: Space is also a great motion simulator -- my God, it really did feel like we were taking off in a space shuttle. Animal Kingdom was a totally peaceful day, exploring all the great animals there. The only thing that wasn't peaceful was Expedition: Everest -- such a fantastic roller coaster. The Hollywood Studios park was a great deal of fun for me, as a movie lover. As a big Indiana Jones fan and big Star Wars fan, the rides and shows geared to those movies were great. They also have a new Toy Story themed "ride" that is really more video game combined with 3-D. I would have liked to have done it again, but it was crowded. The roller coaster at that park has the most amazing take off -- 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds. Finally, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror? I thought I would hate it -- but loved every minute of it. That feeling of dropping, knowing that I was in a totally safe environment, was rather exhiliarating. As a Food Network junkie, I never thought I'd have a true gourmet meal -- but I did on Wednesday night. It was wildly expensive, but so worth it. The place is called Victoria & Alberts, and it's the only restaurant in Disney World property that 1) has a dress code (shirt and coat for guys, dressy clothes for women); and 2) allows no children. Amazing food (food I thought I would never ever get to taste, such as elk), fantastic wine, totally romantic atmosphere, and my mind is still blown by the entire experience. OK, now that I've bored you all with my trip talk.... YAY for Clay and Rachel Maddow together. It was interesting -- at Disney World, they had the local channels, CNN, and MSNBC -- but no Fox Network. (Also no Food Network, which gave me the shakes). Heh. Anyway, I really got a chance to watch both Keith Olbermann and Rachel for the past week, via watching a lot of MSNBC after getting home from a long day at the parks. Keith can be a bit of a blowhard, but I loved his Prop 8 rant. And now that I've seen Rachel for a good week, I think I'll keep watching her. I love her snarky sense of humor, and I think she and Clay will be a good match for each other. That new picture of the "family" warms my heart so much. I cannot stop staring at Parker -- he's so freakin' adorable. I love that "we" got a new picture so soon after the first set. Did anyone rip the UNICEF PSA that was posted a few days ago? I'd like to have that for my collection.
  13. claytonic, the entire Newsweek series starts here. Look under "Secrets of the 2008 Campaign" and then read each chapter.
  14. I managed to get Newsweek in the airport today. Also picked up last week's AND this week's People, both with Obama on the cover (the second has the entire family). We subscribe to Time, so finding it wasn't an issue. The Newsweek issue is excellent. It's a very detailed account of practically the entire campaign (from McCain's camp, as well as Clinton's camp). I devoured it on the plane today.
  15. Hey gang! Stuck in the Orlando airport, waiting for the fog to lift in Atlanta. Our flight home is delayed at least 1 1/2 hours, and hopefully we can make our connection. Disney World was a blast, but I'm sooooooooooo tired. We walked and walked and walked, but we also ate and ate and ate too. All four of the parks are cool, each for different reasons -- and each has at least one great thrill ride. I'll try to write more later. I've pretty much only skimmed the last 8 pages of the board, but I want to offer my condolences to cagney, thank liney for thinking of me, and say that I love the new family picture! I'll take the personality test tomorrow while I'm doing laundry. I missed all of you....
  16. *tiptoes in* COUCHIE!!!!!!! Hee. Hey gang! Totally enjoying Disney World, but I'm also totally worn out, after only two days. Yesterday was the Magic Kingdom, and we spent the ENTIRE day there. Today was EPCOT, but we're planning to visit there again later in the vacation, so we didn't push ourselves as much today. Everything we've done has been incredibly fun, and we look forward to continuing this vacation as long as we possibly can. Not much to remind me of Clay this trip so far, except that Eric Idle was in two of the attractions at EPCOT today. Thank you annabear for texting me last night about the blog. I think I knew about it before couchie did! LOL! His blog cracked me up, and I hope he gets some good ideas from "us." I think it's time to pour myself into bed at this point! See ya'll later, and merrieeee and crew -- have fun tonight!
  17. Gibby! Thank you so much! I can now watch that clip over and over again on the plane tomorrow! I'm sad and mad about the Prop 8 thing (although it's still fairly early in reporting, right?), but I still have hope that gays will have equal rights for themselves and their partners. I hate that it's taking this long, though. And yes Thankful, it just takes one person. I can be cynical, but I still have hope too. 'night all. See you in a few days.
  18. Baby steps. That's all I can hope for. But I also have hopes for every single one of your scenarios CG. They will happen.
  19. This night has been fantastic for me. I leave on vacation tomorrow, Barack Obama is going to be our president, and Clay Aiken said my name. *sigh* Can someone make an mp4 of that Broadway clip really quickly? I need it for my iPod before I leave, and I was planning on turning off my computer in the next 20 minutes or so.
  20. Gibby the clip is at the CH vault at the moment and at CU. I downloaded that puppy really, really fast -- and still haven't watched the whole thing yet! I'm trying to watch it plus keep up with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. I think I'm still hyperventilating. Thanks for bringing those pictures over Gibby! He was adorable that day too.
  21. HOLY SHIT. Clay answered my question. And he said my freakin' name. *dies* For the record, my question was "what's the funniest thing that's happened on stage?" *dies again*
  22. While I'm slightly jealous of gbmifan and Fear for their trips to NYC to see CLAAAAAAAAAAAY!, I'm happy too -- no more work for 8 days, and I think I hear Mickey Mouse calling me. Hubby and I were mostly packed for Disney World last night...and then we got the phone call today that the restaurant that we have reservations for the last night of our trip, Victoria & Alberts, has a dress code! This restaurant is definitely a splurge for us, and I think it will be a romantic final night for our trip. And if any Clay news happens while I'm gone, I've got someone to call me! *waves at annabear* I think couchie will probably call me too!
  23. That man just doesn't have quit in him. -- couchie Lordy, this guy makes me smile so hard. I love him. -- cindilu2 We think we'll keep him! -- merrieeee What boyfriend wants he gets! -- merrieeee God we have it so bad...yet it feels so good! -- merrieeee Yes, Clay, we still think you are sex on a stick! Southern Fried Sex on a Stick! -- liney23 He's back. We're back. We're home again. -- ?? Resistance is futile and once I heard that voice all was right with the world. -- aikim
