  1. Sorry about your "very bad day" annabear.... I'm on countdown to Disney World. A week from tomorrow, hubby and I are on a plane to Orlando. Laughing at those of you with snow and cold around you. Sorry. Actually, it's been very cold here in Illinois too. And when I go to NYC in December to see Clay -- I'm sure I'll be bundled so much that Clay won't actually be able to see my face. Of course, by then, he may not be doing as much for the Stage Door. I hope he does though.
  2. couchie, it was rumored that Clay was part of the performers for the Wicked benefit last night (I think it was a blog posting that someone found late last week that mentioned it). However, as it is now known, Clay didn't appear. I wonder if he was planning to until he hurt himself? Cotton, that clip jmh mentions sounds familiar, but I am drawing a blank on where exactly that might be!
  3. Making this a new post... broadway.com page on Spamalot. Click on the video link for footage of the show...
  4. Hee aikim! I'm so sorry about your cookies...hopefully, they've baked by now? I've done silly things like that before; I remember doing it one time with the crock pot. Put everything in the pot, plugged it in and left for work...totally forgetting that I also needed to flip the "on" switch! I think I saved it by putting the whole meal in the over for an hour or so. Is the moon full tonight? Because it's just really weird all around me today. Strange situations left and right -- portions of a student's document went missing; a faculty member came in and said "I mistakenly returned my friend's book, and it wasn't this library's book either." Things like that. I want to go home. Can someone post a pretty picture or two just to cheer me up?
  5. A supposed Clay sighting, from a blog: Rained Out Weekend If true....bet the cookies were for Jaymes. Or, Clay eats out the middle, and then Jaymes gets the cookie! LOL
  6. play, thanks for the report from Scarlett! For me, Spam is recent history...6th grade geography, not so much. But that's why I watch the Amazing Race!
  7. crimsonice, sorry to hear about your ankle.... Has anyone mentioned yet that Clay is in the Pop Chart section of Time magazine this week (issue dated Nov. 3, voting machine on cover)? This is the third time in the past three months for his being mentioned in this section. The text reads: Two tiny pictures: a current cast picture of the Spam crew, and a mock-up of a Playbill with Clay's picture on it. and finally....thank you Permaswooned...
  8. ncgurrl, thank you for the pictures! That "blue" picture is a stunning piece of art, IMO. I'm so happy that Clay was able to perform this evening..... Heh.
  9. Request: there's been lots of pretty pictures from the past week (Gala and the roast). So...any banner makers? How about wallpapers? I hope Clay makes it through the performance tonight!
  10. My guess is that Clay probably said this a few times yesterday.... Woohoo! I know how to use Windows Movie Maker now! Woohoo!
  11. Another link to some photos from yesterday Also... From trishcc at CV: I choose to take this appearance like this: 1) networking, networking, networking; and 2) showing off his balls of titanium. I may not have been able to do it, but he did. (Of course, I don't have balls, but you know what I mean....) I love the idea of early voting for those who need it, but I like going on that first Tuesday in November, before I go to work. It's just the ritual of the thing for me....
  12. I don't think anyone is saying that just because Clay was there, "we" have to like the humor. I'm not getting that vibe at all. Sophomoric is a good description of the humor at the roast, in my case... But, once again, as I've learned so much in this fandom...humor is subjective. There are people out there who truly do like this kind of humor, and I did find some of it truly funny. My BIL loves Larry the Cable Guy; I can't stand him. I still love my BIL, though, and don't judge him (much LOL) because of his taste in humor. OK, back to cleaning the house. I hate cleaning. YAY for both couchie Mom and muski husband!
  13. Oh yeah, I had that same thought this morning. This is the kind of party that more than a few fans thought Clay should have been invited to fairly early in his career (say, even, 2006). Well, now he's been invited...it just took a few years to get there. As much as some may not like it, sometimes acceptance in show business takes some time. From what little I could get out of their website, it really seems like they are pretty much like a fraternity for show business types. They have a charitable arm that does fund raising for the performing arts. Oh, I understand yours and Cindilu's feelings, and yes, I shared some of your discomfort. I don't know, I guess I feel like it is a bit surprising to me that he may have laughed heartily at some of those jokes...but then, "we've" never really known Clay now, right? I bet his next book will be wildly fascinating, though.
  14. More stuff... New York Post video Only a brief glimpse of Clay, though... And an actual article about the roast: Lauer was Roast of the Hour Here's the Clay section from this... Well, there's my confirmation that he actually was on the dais -- quite an honor, really... And that joke (printed) I think is kinda funny...
  15. JEANS!!!!!!!! I've read (but haven't found confirmation yet) that Clay was actually on the dais, so he was there to roast Matt as well. I think this is just one more thing that is known as "Surprising Clay Aiken." He's always been that to me, but he's taken it to new levels this year. What a fun ride. Hmmmm...."Surprising Clay Aiken" could be a good name for a message board...
  16. couchie, I'm glad Mom is on the road to recovery. Too bad about the Obama rally, though -- it would have been a terrible crowd, but I think it would have been a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Clay, take care.... I hear that playing with your baby son makes everything feel better. That Jennifer Hudson thing is just...Wow. My prayers are with her and her family. I hope the young boy is OK.... Yeah, that was pretty much me too, although I have to admit, I laughed at a LOT of it. I think I'm kind of the opposite of couchie -- I've gotten a lot less sensitive toward that kind of comedy over the past few years. Would I be able to handle it if it was directed at me? Not sure...but I think I also do have a bit of a "mean" streak in me, and could probably dish it right back. And then I'd go out for a drink with the person who was giving it to me too. Who knows? I think Clay probably had a blast, even if it might have been uncomfortable for a bit. Thank God it's Friday. I worked an 14 hour day yesterday, so I figured I would leave work a few hours early today. Fat chance. The person who closes the library with me on Friday afternoons called in sick, so I had to stay for the entire day again today. I figure I'll leave work early the day before my vacation!
  17. Hey claytonsgirl! Come join us on the main thread....

  22. Just got off the phone with couchie. Please send some good thoughts toward her mother, as they went to the emergency room last night (which couchie said, seems typical for them whenever there is vacation time!). It sounds as if they are going to keep her Mom in the hospital until at least Saturday. In the meantime, couchie was waiting for her transportation back to the resort -- they took her and her Mom to the hospital in an ambulance, which means she had no car to get back "home!" Clay related: couchie was wearing her beloved Clay Aiken hoodie, and just as the techs were starting a test on her Mom, someone asked couchie about Clay! I think couchie had more on her mind than Clay at that moment! LOL!
  23. With merrieee's permission (PWEEEZE!!!!), I'd like to modify this to... And suggest it as a thread title!
