  1. I received my pins (Robin shield) in the mail today and loved them! Kudos to those involved in the design and mailing. I wish I could wear them to NYC. The closest I'll get is making a Spam sandwich here in Texas. So thank you verrah much to everyone who shares their experiences with us. It means a lot. :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  2. Mornin'! I decided not to buy a Spamalot playbill because it didn't seem as though Clay was going to get much attention in it, until I saw CarolinaClay's blog where she described headshots, bios...Now I've got one ordered. Likewise the FCA pins...I've ordered a couple. I also hadn't realized that some monies go to BAF. Very cool! It's obvious from Caro's blog how much work she puts into preparing it! It's like a whole 'nother job for her. Couch Tomato, is it really your birthday? If so, have a good one!
  3. Would someone please point me in the right direction for this Crooner CD? I must have missed this somehow? Is it internet order only? Thanks http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?...46391&BAB=E
  4. Heh! I must need intervention then. I bought 4. One to play, one to keep sealed for my CA collection, and two to give as gifts.
  5. Wow that gave me goosebumps..what a prestigious list to be part of. Word! Wow...it almost looks like one of those "which one of these does not belong" things. But I'm happy to see that other people, too, think he belongs. [/fangirly pride] They all belong in that they are men with terrific voices that don't require ProTooling. Elvis (The King). Bing Crosby of White Christmas fame -- Clay sang with him on Nickelodeon and we loved it!
  6. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y266/Iris...pg?t=1189467508 Cover art on Crooner's Christmas CD. I'm listening to Clay sing WAYDNY. He is one of the greats on this CD. I'm so proud he's included.
  7. Caro, I went to bed very late, then got up very early. Couldn't sleep. And that almost never happens. Love those blends!!! :F_05BL17blowkiss: Yummy! As soon as the Crooner CD arrives I'll let y'all know if they use a good photo of Clay and what they say on the liner notes. Re the discussion last night, I'm trying to stay calm and cool about things, because that's what Clay said to do in his blog; and during the major attack from the swamp creatures last year I worried myself sick. Literally. I didn't want them to derail his career. He's strong, has a strong faith, and we'll be here for him, so I believe he'll be fine. (Doesn't mean I don't still get angry sometimes though.) ETA: So they will cover AI2 on Idol Rewind. Maybe more footage of Clay.
  8. Couch Tomato, I'll find the link for you. Stand by. Try this: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?...46391&BAB=E
  9. It's after midnight here and I just finished watching a DVD of the Sterling Heights concert....Clay in super low riding jeans. ...so I'm fanning myself with a CA church fan... But wanted to ask if anyone here ordered the Crooners Christmas cd from CD Universe. I received an email from them tonight informing me that my order was being shipped! It was a little surprising because they had sent a couple of previous emails saying the cd was still on back order. If they couldn't find any by Oct 5, the order would be cancelled by them. I'm not going to get too excited until I have the cd in hand. There's another Crooners Christmas, from a prior year I guess, that is Clayless and includes female singers such as Rosemary Clooney. If this is the new one with Clay----I'll be happy to get it! :me0: He's in with the big boys there. I think it's an honor he's included! Did any of you order it? Just wondering. merrieeee, I'm a little late, but hope your birthday was wonderful!
  10. Couchie, thanks for your terrific recap! You were schmoopie and your recollections made me schmoopie too. :F_05BL17blowkiss: When we watch the show in November I'll have to wave my CA church fan! That show will be so much fun to watch! Clay fans do make the best audience! I'm glad you got to be there! Someone said when they put up Clay's junior high school photos he was yelling "Take it down!" Sure wish we could see a mullet photo! Thanks for that little nugget of info...something we'd never heard before.
  11. She is a sweetheart. There was divine providence at play too. Ordinarily a guy who is first cello would have been there, but he wanted to go to another event that was scheduled that night, so my relative was assigned the Clay concert. She said she's glad now because she really enjoyed it. And Somebody Up There must like me. David Graves...well, likeable? :F_05BL17blowkiss: Try...well, loveable.
  12. My blog about a relative who accompanied Clay at Syracuse: I’ve never met Clay, but lately fortune has smiled on me in Syracuse, New York. A relative of mine is a member of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra who played for Clay on July 18th. She was aware that I’m a v.v. enthusiastic Clay fan, and went out of her way to do me a favor. Here were her original comments in an email, with more to follow in a letter: (all with her permission) We had an afternoon rehearsal with him, and he was very nice to work with. He had two women singing with him (Angela and Quiana), and they were really good. They did some solo numbers. The audience really liked him, and they screamed a lot. As you can well imagine, our regular audiences don’t do much screaming. There were sound shields up (the drummer completely encased in Plexiglas), but it was still really loud, mainly because of the audience. Clay’s group was quite adamant about not having people backstage, so I asked our stage manager to ask about an autograph. He spoke with Angela, and she arranged it. From letter: Clay Aiken was very nice to work with. I think he’s better looking in person than on this picture - and he’s good looking in that one! He has a nice voice, a really easy, pleasant delivery, and great rapport with the audience. He brought his own conductor, who had done most of the arrangements, his drummer, and the two vocalists (who were excellent). The conductor was also the pianist and conducted from the piano. The winds (one oboe, one flute, one alto sax doubling flute, and one tenor sax) didn’t have a lot to play. I had a few solos in the first couple of songs. The rest of the orchestration was brass (2 horns, 2 trumpets, and 2 trombones), a lot of interesting percussion, more keyboards, and strings. I spoke with Angela, who said that she has been touring with the group for about four years. They have a great ensemble. Clay was very complimentary to the orchestra. He told the audience that he likes the sound and Feel of playing with a big, full orchestral sound. I asked Angela to tell Clay that you are his most Ardent fan in Texas. Hee! Clay signed the back of the above Syr Symphony Card--- (my name) Use your voice, Clay Aiken and the date. His handwriting, which we've seen so much was exciting to see (especially my name!eeeee!) I have his autograph in his book which we ordered from Dover Press, but it wasn't personalized. Now I finally had a personal autograph. It was so nice of Clay to do that, considering all the hundreds of things he has to do to prepare for a show. I’m grateful to him, Angela, the stage manager, and my dear sweet relative! She didn't know very much about Clay before that concert. Now she has a high opinion of him.

Thanx! It worked that time.
  14. Just found out recently that a relative of mine performed (Syracuse Symphony Orchestra) with Clay at his concert in Syracuse! I wrote her impressions in my blog at the OFC. Is there a particular place here where I can post that?
  15. I hadn't heard that yet. HA! He's a funny man! :lmaosmiley-1: Thank you and all the other recappers!
  16. Aw thank you, guys. I'm so new here I'm still learning where to post when. I'll defnitely be posting more. Y'all are very welcoming here! :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  17. I've been enjoying all your recaps and hesitate to post mine because it reads like a book report I did in third grade...minus the Clay Aiken part. The Party Wow! What a fantastic job the Oklahoma Clay Fans did decorating that huge room! Giant poster photos of Clay around the perimeter, two long stretches of tables covered with amazing items for the silent auction and chances to win, and a table in the front bearing beautiful theme baskets (also for silent auction), including Faux Burberry, Library Man, Fugly, and I can't recall the rest but they all looked great and the themes were so cute. At each table setting were little black or silver gift bags containing Clay luggage tags, Clay bookmarks, a photo of Clay in a little silver frame, a pen, a fan (which I regretted not taking to the Brady Theater), and a little Clay decorated box of Junior Mints (they're very refreshing!). Scattered all around the table were various photos of Clay. The silver colored napkins were imprinted: An Evening With Clay Aiken Tulsa, Oklahoma July 7, 2007 At the Party Registration desk we were given a lanyard imprinted with the same thing as the napkins and also Historic Brady Theatre; the badge had a photo of Clay. Also, clip-on name tags to display real name and board name. And a card with a silent auction number. Thank you very mucho to the OK fans who obviously put a lot of thought and work into throwing such a great party! We shared a table with zippy888 and her family, who were very nice. She excitedly won a couple of prizes in the drawings. And she told us that the Clay photos on the lanyards were taken by her. The DJ seemed enthusiastic about the concert; said he'd never been to a Clay concert, and had found out from the OK fans what a great guy Clay was. A group of hearing members of a church had learned Sign Language which they used for a couple of Clay songs. That was very nice! Brady Theatre We were thrilled with our seats in the 8th row, had a great view of the stage, and found out we were sitting right next to the lovely and sweet AnAmeraikeninTX, who was still glowing from her M&G in Houston. The theatre was hot and got hotter as it filled up, but I was so excited about finally getting to see Clay live again after 3 years that I didn't mind. The anticipation.... Mary came out and taped some lyrics to the front of the stage floor. The orchestra tuned up their instruments. Angela came out to a mic stand on the left side of the stage, and Quiana to one on the right side (both to great applause). Jesse came out to his piano and directed the orchestra to begin playing "Here You Come Again". Clay began singing before he appeared on stage. Screams for the voice...louder screams when he stepped into view. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! His hair looked most excellent!; blue shirt, jeans, gray jacket, brown boots. The face!!!! So handsome! I'm glad he's quit wearing a lot of make-up. His face is beautiful as is, with freckles showing. What a good looking guy he is! I was mesmerized for the rest of the show. Didn't take notes, didn't gather clack. Just couldn't take my eyes off the man! The Show Clay looked and sounded great! A cutie with a voice that melts the heart and a comic ability that gets you laughing and smiling. I have to say I liked the "I Want to Know What Love Is" duet with Quiana better than the one with Suzy on the cd. Their voices were more distinguishable and blended better. I'd heard just a bit about the airplane incident and sympathized with Clay, but he got us laughing about it. I was glad he wasn't in a bad mood and could enjoy himself. The TV theme songs were fun, though I didn't watch a half dozen of those shows and didn't know the songs. Clay and his two women did a good job singing them. Quiana and Angela looked beautiful and I liked both of their solos. It tickled me when Clay called Quiana's skirt a dress (My husband would have said the same thing. Maybe it's a guy thing, or a southern guy thing) and she corrected him "skirt!" I don't understand why the occasional person seems irked when Clay talks about he "paid for it." He's only joking around, teasing them. They know it. It seems pretty obvious. They love him very much. The theatre got so hot there was a big sweat spot that covered most of Jesse's back. He wasn't wearing a jacket, just a ls shirt, so I could only imagine how hot Clay must have been with a suit jacket on. One or two women kept telling him to take the jacket off, but he didn't want to display his soggy pits. He mentioned going backstage to take a shower...and knew what kind of reaction that would get. HAHA! When "The Way You Make Me Feel" ended, everyone sank down to their seats, and Clay said "Who said you could sit down?" We all laughed and jumped back up. Thus began the Classics Medley, which was so much fun! When we sat I could see quite well, but my view was obstructed by taller people when we stood. I probably drove the people behind me nuts as I weaved my head back and forth to see Clay. I'd heard he danced and was a riot during the medley, and didn't want to miss it! "Lover All Alone" was stunningly beautiful. There was silence in the theatre as everyone drank it in. I was so proud of Clay's creation. Got a tear in my eyes, and hoped the spell wouldn't be broken until he sang the final note. The audience was perfectly quiet until he did sing that final note, then jumped up and gave him a terrific ovation. "Because You Loved Me" was a perfect final song (though I was sad it was the end of the show!). Clay sang it to us and meant it. I walked out of Brady like I was sleepwalking, and in a dream state, got into the car and went back to the hotel. In the restaurant in the AM, rcknrllmom told us that Clay walked the line in the parking lot and I wished I could turn my feet around and kick myself in the ass. :: tears of regret. Why can't we turn back time? :: My husband enjoyed the show very much. He told me I shouldn't be too sad about missing the handshake because we drove all the way to Tulsa and saw Clay Aiken live and had a fantastic time! I'm sorry I didn't meet all you guys, but hope I see you at another CA concert.
  18. luckiest1, though I won't be sitting anywhere near as close to the stage as you, I share your unbridled enthusiasm! (Why am I thinking of horses?) I've only been to two tours, Indep. and NAT, so have never seen Clay sing with an orchestra. That makes me one kind of virgin anyway. I don't care what he sings, just hope he's healthy and in good voice. Couch Tomato, I'm glad your mom is doing OK. ldyjocelyn, thanks for your suggestions re staying unspoilered. I decided it wasn't worth it to worry about it. I'm just so happy Clay is returning to TX-OK. Even my husband is looking forward to going to Tulsa. He's a sweetheart. Y'all will love him. Clay called us his angels in his blog, so when I logged onto photobucket and saw this, I leaped on it. Ain't nobody gonna stick an inky needle into me (not that there's anything wrong with that), but if you're looking for a work of art to cover your back... (clickable) And my first Clay photo in Photobucket... (click) A screenshot from The Way video. Some people didn't like that vid, but I thought Clay looked extremely hawt in it. When he leaned over against the building on the dark street.... Got to run and feed husband.....
  19. I missed a couple of birthday celebrants earlier today--- Happy Birthday samtaykai and ClaytonAikenFan86! :04: (Thanx Caro and Ansa for the info on text color. I never would have thought to look there!)
  20. Happy Birthday ANSA! :04: Hi Caro! :F_05BL17blowkiss: How does one change the color of letters here? Usually I highlight, then click on the color function and choose a color. But when I try to click on the A to change color, nothing happens. Is it done differently on this board? :TourExcite: I'm going to the third concert (Tulsa) and originally planned to stay unspoiled so there would be some surprises. I'd prefer not to know all his banter/jokes ahead of time. But...there's always a big but (tm PeeWee)...I'm going to the party in Tulsa and have a feeling that there will be discussion there about Frisco and Houston. So I'm wondering if trying to stay unspoiled is an exercise in futility. Also.....I don't think I have the willpower to not listen to at least the Frisco concert. That Clay Aiken...he's like a drug! Must have! What's everyone else going to do? ETA: YOWZA! That yooge banner on Jones Hall is spectacular!
  21. Want to get this in before the clock ticks over to the day after.... Happy Birthday Couch Tomato! :00003653: Are you still up partying?
  22. My husband and I will be at TULSA!!!! :Tour3:
  23. I'd like to thank everyone who has been so welcoming to me here! Clay's blog made me schmoopie, and excited to see the concert. I love soft rock. The name Soft Rock and a Hard Place sounds a little naughty. :TourExcite:
  24. Hi everyone! Is it too late for me to choose my favorite TV clack? Can't choose just one, but every Kimmel appearance and the twisty ties story on The Tonight Show combined into a FrankenClack would be right up there. I'm sad about the messageboard situation and would like to give Clay a hug. I hope they can figure out a solution because Clay deserves to have a respectful and smooth running board. One that gives new members a good impression.
