  1. I'm covering my ears in horror! That's worse than an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.
  2. I don't like it, either, but I've become inured to it, and don't have that kneejerk negative reaction anymore when it is used in reference to me. I think my issue is just not being a joiner and not wanting to be stereotyped, no matter what the qualities are that are associated with the term. My issue, I know..... oy, I tire myself out sometimes. Waves to JaMar who saw one of those kneejerk reactions in public once... not one of my finer moments. I have to laugh that we're having this discussion.... again. Slow times in the Clay Nation. It's sort of like that Song that Goes Like This.
  3. I totally agree on the Clack thing. Clay could outlaw it in a minute. My goodness, what better means of communication with the fans could there possibly be? I don't believe for a minute that fans who are not fortunate enough to be able to see Clay live would take blogs and sanitized video clips over Clack. That official stuff is over-rated, IMO. But I'll join because.... well, just because.
  4. That pretty much captures it, doesn't it? djs... your formula! I really think there might be some fans keeping score. Oy.
  5. "our favorite Strawberry Fruitcake" is my personal favorite. It sounded endearing to me. Actually, none of the language bothered me in the context of the article. Now, if people who didn't respect Clay used it in other contexts, that would be an entirely different thing. The Cook, The Thief, the Chef and his Lover or whatever that title is..... that's the only movie I ever walked out of. I lasted 3/4 of the way through the film when it occurred to me that I could actually leave. It was just too gross for me. That scene in the fish truck..... yuck.
  6. Wanda I loved this article in spite of all the name calling- Maybe thats done with affection? I know in Australia we tend to call each other names in an affectionate way. Of course you have to know each other well! It's nice to see an article that's almost all complimentary. I loved it, too. Truthfully, I'm not a fan of covers by anyone, no matter how well done, but whatever..... Clay will sing what he wants or thinks he needs to sing and I'll probably enjoy it. It's not even about the songs anymore, at least not for me. Probably never was. And I really did love ATDW. Go figure.
  7. Hmmm..... a CD of R&B covers might be interesting. And that's not even a genre that particularly appeals to me. I think Clay could do it well.
  8. That was beautiful. (SSTBTHW) ....even with the lyric screw up RHW - I never really cared much for this one until the Gala. Sounds great tonight, too.
  9. Yes, that's all. Sorry, not trying to be cryptic. I was just in a hurry and that's all I had time to post. This is my first trip back since then. = ICG = Involuntary Clay Grin... you know, that look you get on your face when something Clay makes you happy. I don't own it, I just use it a lot. I think it's a universal experience in the Clay Nation.
  10. JaMar and I ate the Measure of a Man in a deli in Bethlehem, the day of the JBT at Musikfest. It didn't have any cheese in it, IRRC. Bookwhore, do you still have that menu?
  11. I want to stand up and be counted, silly as that might sound. I don't participate in the OFC in any way, except to read the occasional blog. Whatever. I'll join again and again as long as the doors are open. As for keeping the conversations private among those at the dinner? Makes total sense to me. First, as others have said, those fans paid a lot of money for what they got. Keeping it private increases the value of the prize and will make it more appealing the next time, which is just plain good business. This is about the BAF. But more than that, it seems that they are all likely to be more relaxed and spontaneous if Clay and company aren't having to watch their words, knowing that they'd travel all over the Clay Nation, not to mention the fans being distracted by trying to get everything down in their memory so that other fans can have the perfect recap. It's a social conversation, not an interview. I think of chats I've participated in over the years in this fandom. How many times to people say they're glad there's no transcript? Jeez, let him just be himself for once. Then the conversation will be much more natural and enjoyable. That being said..... if anything leaks, I'm listening. And as for 'Well, well"..... when has anyone ever taken anything Clay said at face value? It's "Well, now" I tell you. He's just yanking chains again. In case you can't tell, I'm kidding.
  12. {{{couchie and couchiemama}}} I hope stability comes soon.
  13. I think there might be 2 touring companies. Cha cha and I are going to see Spam in Wilmington, DE in late March. I called the theater before we bought our tickets and they confirmed that Richard Chamberlain was in the cast. I hope that hasn't changed.
  14. My high school colors were brown and blue. We wore dark brown serge jumpers with light blue blouses underneath. I liked the combination.
  15. I thought the same thing, cha cha. It would be perfect, a trendy area that would appeal to your daughters, vegetarian options, affordable, not to mention topically relevant for us! Wilmington, DE is slim pickings, I'm afraid.
  16. On my way to work today I saw a sign that said "Couch Tomato Cafe." Cracked me up. Seems it's been in the Manayunk section of Philadlephia since the Fall of 2003. How could I have missed it? I've been to Main Street in that area where there are a lot of shops, restaurants, bars, etc dozens of times. It took a sign on a section of highway I rarely travel and a sign for the cafe sponsoring an anit-littering campaign to bring it to my attention. Now, I need to go there. If Clay ever comes back to the Philadelphia area, we need to hold an FCA get-together there! Love the logo! The Couch Tomato Cafe
