  1. Still in the glow of the Gala and wishing I could get to see Clay in Grease. Its about a six and a half hour drive from here. I can't do long drives as I tend to fall asleep suddenly. I ttk my kids to see Grease on Broadway about 30 or 40 years ago. They really enjoyed it but I don't remember much of it. Probably fell asleep even back then. Hope he does great in his role and I'm sure we will hear from those who are going.
  2. CV had some detailed reviews of the weekend. I am not focused enough to remember everything. But I can say it was very well planned from the Friday night party to the last notes of "Because you Love me" on Saturday evening. One thing that stood out to me was the deprecation of Clay and ,somewhat Diane that they are figure heads and just there to look pretty. I totally disagree. I realize they are interacting with PHD's and people with multiple years of experience working with typical children and children with disabilities. From hearing them speak and speaking with a board member, they are very much in charge. On the other hand, as a fan, I really enjoyed the gala program and the mini concert section. Clay was in great voice and the band was terrific playing and Interacting with Clay. Loved the music and wishes for the old days when someone would record it for posterity. It was a great weekend and all was well when I got home.
  3. Leaving tomorrow for Charlotte. Hope I make it on time for the Friday night party. Dropping the dog for boarding at 4 and then driving down. Thought it would be easier on My husband. He can't take the dog out and stresses when various people come late to walk her. Next year I may bring him to the Gala as it is another stress to ask people to check on him and get him dinner. If I leave him enough wine I think he will be happy.
  4. So sorry to hear about her. We have lost quite a few cats over the years, so I know the feeling. We have a dog right now that my granddaughter got tired of. Very different experience. One benefit I am walking a lot more that I had previously.
  5. Haven't seen anything. Someone surmised he pressed video meaning to take a picture.
  6. Wonder why she deleted. Maybe someone told her to battle Trump is useless. And it is. Do you have a place to stay while you are building merrieeee?
  7. Good luck merrieeee . We are fine in this house as it is on one level,. Our front yards are taken care of by our HOA dues. But I hate the back and side yards. My goal this year is to fix the back yard but the side yard is a Japanese garden and needs manicuring. We hire a Bonsai gardener to trim the trees to keep them low but so many weeds pop up in the summer.
  8. twilight, you might want to check on the PART bus service. Its reasonably priced and does long distance routes across the state or maybe someone at the NIP is heading that way and can offer a ride. I live in Winston, so I am closer to Charlotte than Raleigh. I plan on attending and have it on my calendar so I don't plan anything else. I usually have to arrange for someone to check in on my husband, walk the dog and get them both meals.
  9. I hope you all have really cold weather gear. That is so cold. Funny that Alaska is having unusually high temperatures. I get cold in 40 degree weather and have taken to wearing a hat and scarf in addition to my coat and gloves whenever I go outside. Stay warm all of you in the midwest.
  10. Looking forward to Drop the Mic.Recognized his outfit from the Gala. I could use a do over of the Gala.
  11. An article in CNN had some members of her staff answering back. The one thing they did not defend was her refusal to prosecute Steve Mnuchin, Secretary of Treasury, who at that time foreclosed on many people who lost their homes. In some cases it was indefensible for him to do that.
  12. We just had some ice. A lot of power outages and lots of detours because of trees down. I didn't run into any ice on the roads but then again I don't usually go out at night in bad weather. In the morning afterward, Monday there was still a lot of ice up in the trees. After that 12 to 14 inch snow we had earlier I think we had enough snow for the rest of the year. School was out for a week that time.
  13. Sorry to hear about Clay's grandmother. Grandmother's are always there to lend support, so it must have hurt everyone in the family. Hi sisterbear30.
  14. Happy New Year to all! Sounds like Clay was in great voice. Hope we can hear it at some point. I had hopes I could see the performances but that was dashed. Looking forward to pages 2 to 365 the rest of this year.
  15. Feel better today. Everyone left at 10 after a hint from husband. Very nice gifts. Right now listening to a Maria Callas CD. Love her dramatic voice. Guess I won't make it to NYC t.o see Clay and Ruben this time. Hopefully I'll have other chances. I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
  16. Merry Christmas to all. Waiting for my family to have breakfast with us. Unfortunately it is already 2:15 pm. Finally cooked something for us, but now feel like I'm coming down with a cold. Haven't opened our gifts yet. I'm ready for bed again. Ha. Typical day waiting for granddaughter.
  17. Glad you made it merrieeee. Still hoping I might get there, but who knows. Love the reviews they are getting. I could never have imagined such a reception in NYC.
  18. Thanks for checking on things merrieeee. I really can't stay up. EST.
  19. Wow! Thanks for the videos. It is pouring down snow here in NC. Newspaper said 12 inches so far. About twice as much as we normally get in a snowfall. I am enjoying having some time to myself since I can't go out in this weather. Takes several days before the streets are plowed. Our development has private streets so we have already been plowed once, not that you could tell several hours later. Got a steroid shot in my knee and can walk again so I am thinking of going out to NYC after Christmas. Start wrapping for the NIP on Friday and three more days after that so before Christmas is almost impossible to do. But after may be doable. .
  20. Enjoy your day off ldyj. The sun is peeking out here and I need to get started on decorating for Christmas.
  21. Great picture of Clay! Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. We ate and have a half of turkey breast leftover. One son and granddaughter came over. Even fed the dog some turkey. Talked to our west coast son.
  22. Thanks so much. I'd hate to miss it. I haven't seen my brother and his family for at least 5 years which I also hate to miss. I just hope their show is amazingly successful.
  23. Not sure how, but this old computer logged on to the new address automatically. Most likely will not make it to NYC to see Clay and Reuben as I injured my right knee again and can't be sure it will heal by then. Probably my MCL again which last time was just a sprain but hurts like the dickens when I walk. If It feels better by Dec I'll look for a bus and some last minute tickets.
  24. Hope I can make it to NYC. Promised to take my grandaughter who is applying to NYU. But I'll be wrapping for four days and another week she has dance performances. So many things to arrange including costs.
