  1. That picture is from Philly since Solitaire 30 was there. Short recap. I really enjoyed seeing the ehp and Claygasm ( of Idol the Musical fame). I also met cha cha trusty and invisible 926. Met tangerine and madison of cv. Also ran into Karmaforclay, ficusand dudleyvillas. In a nutshell, Clay is so amazing and in the words of Jerry Lewis, "What a Voice." He is so relaxed and comfortable in front of an audience that the time just flew by. This was my first concert but seeing some clack I was still surprised. Sitting in the pit we had to turn 360 degrees to see Clay when he was singing and walking around on the wall surrounding the pit. He is so slender and very well built, definitely not fat, that he almost looks small. But having stood next to him at the gala, he is very tall. And when he stood next to Sean it was some contrast in size. Angela and Quiana were also in great voice and the audience let them know it. I think the heat and humidity kept the audience a little subdued but they were enthused and appreciative. Once again he didn't mince words when talking about top forty radio and Barry M and Rod S. I wish I could figure out if he is talking to us in code. I'll just assume he is going in another direction on the next cd but not top forty. I'm on my way home this afternoon to see hubby and pets after a week in the great state of NJ. Looking forward to seeing Clay in NC soon.
  2. Happy Birthday To Carolina Clay and to my sister and concert companion Playbiller and with that it's off to PHILLY today.
  3. Sounds like you all need another Idol the Musical review. Playbiller and I went to the show Saturday evening. We walked the wrong way on 45th and by the time we actually found an address on a building, we were four city blocks in the wrong direction. When we found the theatre we noticed people standing outside so we wondered whether we should go in. We did. As we entered the theatre we saw a bunch of people standing against the walls. They were actually waiting for a seat. Upon entering the room where the play was going to take place we had a difficult time finding two seats together and this was half an hour before the play began. We finally found two seats in the front row near a pole on the stage. Other than a few single seats there was an entire row with reserved signs on the seats. Unfortunately people we didn't recognize sat in the seats. As Playbiller said we looked at feet a lot. It would have been better to sit a little further away. The actors were the originals from Syracuse. They sang good and some could dance as well. The acting was so so. I was also hoping that the statue of their idol would have been great so that I could take a picture with my phone, but it was a rough drawing of Clay, although life sized. The songs were so so with Quakin for Aiken being the best in my mind. The script was just not funny. There was a lot of clay centric words, including claycentric and claygasm. Maybe I'm just getting tired of them. The audience, however howled at some of them. We couldn't hear the final lines because of the cast busting out in giggles, so I'm not sure what the moral of the story was. But I guess it was "be yourself." As far as being a play for children, some lines should be changed as well as some of the dance moves in order to appeal to small kids. A word to the wise, don't sit near the pole as this is where the masturbation action takes place. Upside down. It was a pleasant evening with some sweet scenes but I couldn't honestly say it was worth what we paid for tickets. I hope having a more professional cast will help.
  4. Thanks guys for the birthday wishes. :F_05BL17blowkiss: I've been kind of invisible lately. We're trying to get our home improvement projects out of the way before concert time. Bottlecap still ove the candy corn but I have been going cold turkey since the Valentines Day candy corn. Playbiller, I'll be seeing you on your birthday in Philly. I had a moment of panic today when my husband discovered the car we ordered on Tuesday was not what we intended. Fortunately the salesman was able to correct it, as the car had not been shipped. After that the rest of the day was uphill. Clay even sang to me tonight in his blog. Happy Birthday to all the other birthday folks. :bday2:
  5. Playbiller, I may have to disagree with you here. Surprised? I don't think I have ever seen Clay dress like a slop. He may dress casually in clothes which you may not like. The clothing may occasionally be wrinkled, but a slob? No. I dress like a slob when I am painting or doing something that may ruin my clothes. But I don't think I have seen him with dirty or food stained clothing. Unlike son #1 who when we first visited him at college had to tie up his sneakers so that the bottoms and tops which were no longer connected would not flap about. Or son #2 who as a teenager would not bathe for weeks at a time and girls still liked him. One of my biggest complaints with the fandom is how some attribute childlike qualities to Clay. For instance growing his hair and how he won't cut it despite disliking it because he is stubborn. What the heck. I stopped asking my mom if she liked my hair when I was a teenager. As an entertainer I would think he would ask his manager instead. But maybe its the EP's role. But his mom? Just no. Decorating his house. She's a decorator folks, that's what she does for a living. I do my kids tax returns but everything else I try to stay out of. End of another rant. For the Beta Alpha group how about FCA for Inclusion, just to keep it short. I believe I may have had to register at the site as I got an email from Aaron?, the guy who works at BAF, asking me to tell him which groups I belonged to. :nature-smiley-013:
  6. I really hate to call or email for requests but I did it for Invisible and I guess I can do it for ATD. Our local AC station doesn't appear to be playing him like they once did. Time for a change. They are in Greensboro so they may be influenced by the fuss caused by the local FOX news at the NaJNT 2006. :kotz0: I think Kimmel is doing a great job by having Sir Charles on with Clay. This will allow the male demographic to see Clay as a funny guy in addition to being a great singer. :00000462: I had a quite embarrassing Clay moment this afternoon. I am a volunteer who does tax returns for the elderly and lower income groups. Having some experience in this field I will also be doing the electronic filing to the IRS for several locations in the state. I was practicing the night before last by getting some data from an email on my desktop and using a flashdrive to transfer these files from my desktop to my laptop. I couldn't get the files to open. Since I was meeting with one of the IT coordinators from the state today I asked him to take a look at it. Well he opened up the files on my flash drive and what did he find but all these Clay Aiken web sites as well as my travel and banking sites. OY!! I have no idea how this happened but he wouldn't let me close down the flashdrive until he looked through every file to find the three we needed. ETA: If you want you can form a beta alpha group, I think that's what they call them. Our WFI group has one and I also joined one at Clayversity. But you can belong to as many as you want. I guess it's a neat little package to keep track of fundraising.
  7. Good morning all! Woke up to our first snowfall this winter. It always looks so pretty, at least until it gets dirty. It is supposed to change over to sleet and freezing rain. For some strange reason school was not called off today so I guess I'll be off to the gym this morning. They base their closings on the school system. I guess a lot of mom members. I haven't watched AI since the end of AI2. Not really because of Clay. More for political reasons and my dislike of a certain media mogul. I try to stay away from most reality shows and as a result don't see too much tv. I do watch Top Chef and Project Runway. Top Chef was a little disturbing last night. I do vote for Clay occasionally and here is a site in Greensboro which employs the evil reporter JV. At least you don't have to register. FOXvotes Have a wonderful day.
  8. I finally started getting some alerts on Tom Cruise. Many articles on how he is responsible for getting Beckham to the US and will help him become an actor too. I guess in exchange for converting to scientology? Twin psychics in Canada are predicting another baby for Tom and Katie and then divorce after five years. Like half the country couldn't predict that. In an article about Bill Mahr accusing Ken Melhman, head of the RNC, of being gay and what the chances are that Melhman could win a slander suit. Mentions Tom winning a slander suit against a gay porn star who accused him of having sex with a man. He won $10 million. The summary was that now a days it is increasing difficult to win a suit of this type because it is not considered an insult to be called gay. Whatever!
  9. Well I detoxified and got all thoughts of the evil media mogul Rupert out of my head. Then my husband turns on FOX, a channel that I never watch, and who should be on it but Jeff, the Greensboro blog guy. He was smiling to show his dimples, what a great guy, and reporting on pussycats. :kotz0: I yelled no and grabbed for the remote. Fortunately Mr. Fear really wanted the football game on CBS. Mellow once again and I don't hate Clive. :EmoticonRingAround:
  10. I don't think Clay is the only one who gets bashed, but he is the only one I'm interested in following who gets the hits. For instance Oprah had great publicity initially for building that school in Africa, now the "journalists" are turning it into why didn't she build one in the US. Snoop Dog funded a football team or league and is now being sued. So I guess no one can do anything for the good. I sure would like to blame it on that media mogel who I can't stand and will not mention his name. He does own all those "newspapers" and "TV stations" that I mentioned previously. In my eyes he is all that is wrong with our society. I thought the government used to break up monopolies. Thankfully for all of you I'll soon be bogged down in tax returns and only think about how on earth to get them done. By the way I added MDYK to the audio and video reviews. ETA: I signed up for Google alerts for Tom Cruise and haven't gotten one in three days. Maybe they are giving him a break?
  11. Here are my results of MDYK: 1. Westpoint by JACF -My most favorite version. He really hit the glory note here. Plus the OOOS were glorious. The video wasn't half bad either. 2. Charlotte by Clayhaven- This is a very breathy version. At none of the other venues did he sing it this way. Messed the lyrics up a little too. 3. Easton by dj2001- Good sound by too much other noise. 4. Hartford by SLC- Too much applause in the middle. For video don't miss West Point by Scarlett-- beautiful composition. Secretly Loves Clay took great video in Englewood and Verona. Also enjoyed Princess Jodita video in Baltimore which although a partial MDYK had the great phone banter with Frankie. Hope you like these. It's really difficult since the acoustics varied so much, but I aimed for a clear sound as a top criteria.
  12. Absolutely. I still wonder why Clay's name is used so frequently to attract viewers or readers? If, according to the tabloids and tabloidets (i.e. Chuck), he is evil personified, why do people want to hear about him? He obviously has something about him that makes him so very interesting to more than his fans. Maybe I'm a pod person because I really think there is someone out there who has it in for Clay. Definitely not RCA, although they haven't really been too proactive for him. I have always blamed the owner of FOX news, The VIllage Voice, the NY Post and many other media outlets for promoting the negative. I have no idea why but there always seems to be that connection. That and the sorry state of many of our news reporters who don't do their research. I'm at the point where I would rather read our local newspaper than the media giants.
  13. I just wanted to say hi as I am inundated with life right now. It's out of control. Ansa I am working on the song and hopefully will get done this week. I did want to agree with this: I loved Clay's blog. He is so very special and unique. Not necessarily a quality found in a pop star, but found in a man who is in control of his life. I think he is ready to sit back and enjoy life for the ridiculous but enjoyable ride it is. And what a life he has had so far. For that fan, who we all know, how about getting a job or better yet volunteering to do good in your community. A much better use of time than complaining is. To Playbiller, if I remember correctly, I think I put 127 ornaments on your tree. I hope you can now feel free to dispose of the tree. Just kidding. *g* Welcome merrieee. I really enjoyed meeting you in West Point and Red Bank.
  14. Great new banner. Cindilu2 does the best banners and other composites. I'm making progress on MDYK but I haven't found one show where the lyrics he sang are as printed so I'm not going to even think about it, well except for the few times he lost his place because of the changeups. One of my favourites is West Point. It is really amazing how well he sang while ill. Maybe I should goggle Tom Cruise. It should make me feel a lot better about Clay's articles. The gossip sites on TV at least have been really harsh to him lately. Makes me realize that all the PR people one has and all the law suits persued don't make one bit of difference. They will say whatever they feel like saying. I should be working on the tax seminar that I am going to tomorrow as I am supposed to help the newbies but I always forget how boring it can be until January comes around. I much prefer working with real people.
  15. Thanks ldyjocelyn for the words to MDYK. I have a funny feeling that he never sang the words exactly correct. Ansa, I am ready to celebrate the release of ATD. My favorite reaction to all the negative nellies is "don't die until the bullet hits you." There is plenty of time for angst after the fact, if it is needed.
  16. I am cracking up here listening to the audio and watching the video for MDYK. Of the three venues I watched there are three different versions of the song, Verona being the most confusing. So do you think I should take into consideration the lyrics? I'm not even sure what they are. All I know is he sure sang great at Merriville and Verona. The conundrum that is Clay. Oy!
  17. Wow both musicfest and jmh were residents of the town I now live in? I may have lived here when you were in school. We moved here in 1973 with two toddlers. When we first moved here there was a drive in movie theatre at the corner of Robinhood and Peace Haven Roads about a mile from where we live. Now there are three shopping centers at this corner. Winston is a really nice city. But this winter we went to the concert at Red Bank which is the next city to Middletown from where I moved. Red Bank has grown quite nicely. It's also where my kids were born. Great blog Couchtomato. I admire all of you who can express yourselves through writing. Ansa, I would be more than happy to do a song from the tour: MDYK or TFN or even TCS or anything thats left.
  18. :04: :00000430: :09: :fest30: :nana: I hope everyone has a wonderful 2007!!! Here's to many more Clay concerts and to even better times. By the way couchtomato, I have no delusions of ever organizing my clack. I just buy a new computer or extra hard drive. My avi, by the way, was a gift from my older son's girlfriend. I am not sure how she knew about my passion for candy corn, but when we were leaving Oregon to come home she handed me the candy corn embellished bag filled with candy corn flavored taffy. I have declared her a winner and I'm really hoping they are serious.
  19. OK Playbiller. I had been talking to Play about some folks complaining that Roger was evil but forgetting that it was Roger who got Clay the insider gig as his friend is an executive on the Insider. I always thought that it was a brilliant move to have Clay be a guest reporter on the Insider and now it appears that it has paid off big time. How easily we forget.
  20. I don't know about for Clay but this would be a great idea for someone. I love it. Somebody to put to rest rumour and innuendo before they get a foothold. Unfortunately rather than exposing them, most of the daily shows seem to embrace them. Perhaps Clay could get a recurring role in a sitcom. I enjoyed his bit in Scrubs and even DOOL, although I don't watch soaps and probably would miss most of the shows. I like the idea of a cartoon voice over or even a movie part, but not playing himself. I think Clay is ready to stretch out to some new fields and I would love to see someone take a chance in casting him in a different sort of role.
  21. I would like to see Clay do a weekly show rather than a daily show so that it would not interfer with touring. He could do an expose show and embarrass gossip columnists by exposing them for the unsavory people that they are. I believe he said he wanted to do an audience participation Q&A type show. I also hope he can record an album of songs that he chooses. Although I am not sure if I can survive another round of "The Fans Know Best." No leaks or hints this time around. Surprise us. I hope he is thinking of a family in the next few years. I can't wait to see a flock of redheaded children running around those ten acres. Although I doubt he would allow pictures with all the crazies out there. Other than this tour, tour tour.
  22. I am one who doesn't worry about Clay. He seems happy and he still amazes me at the variety of things he can do. Who ever thought a Southern Boy could ice skate or tell jokes or dance. That he could sing Motown songs, Elvis and Christmas carols. That he could wear designer clothes so well. That he could do a good job acting on soaps. That he would flirt on TV with a famous model. It's much more interesting to see what he will do next than to worry about him selling a gazillion cds. A young woman, mid to late twenties, who went to the Greensboro concert with us was telling us about her friend who has video of herself mocking Clay when he was in High school. I asked the woman if her friend is a multimillionaire living on a ten acre estate now. She told me no, that her friend doesn't have much money, she looks and sounds like Howard Stern and is not very popular. We laughed about who has the last laugh now. The young woman that went to the concert loves Clay, is not on the internet and could care less what her friend thinks. She said she had a great time at the concert as did we all.
  23. It's a little late, I haven't wrapped any of my gifts yet. After wrapping everyone else's I have no desire to ever wrap a gift again. Our WFI group was awesome and amazing. Mucho money was made this year. I did bake a flat cake tonight. Just hope it tastes good. If I'm really lucky my control freak DIL will come by with the baby to pick up their gifts rather than send my son to get them. Ungratful person that I am I expect to see them more than once a year. To switch to a more pleasant subject, I had a great time at all three NAJNT. West Point and Red Bank were fantastic despite Clay's sickness. His voice was fantabulous. If I were as ill as Clay was, I would have been under the covers yelling "Don't talk to me." Greensboro was a really fun concert. The Greensboro Symphony was quite good. They played unusual variations of classic tunes. Winter Wonderland was played with a Latin beat, and a march beat. They played the swing version of the Nutcracker Suite. The youthful conductor was quite charming. When he first came out he talked about Clay and what an amazing voice he had. Clay sauntered out looking a little less Paul Smith amd more Emmy's suit than he had at the other two concerts where he had displayed those lovely perfectly fitted suits. His tie was short and looked a little stodgy. But despite this Clay looked mature and handsome. I drove six other people to the concert ranging in ages from 25 to 80 something. One woman had never seen Clay in person, but has a big scrapbook on everything Clay. I don't know her well but supposedly she never leaves her home. Now none of these people has ever posted or read a fan site. They all loved his personality and thought he was great fun. His voice was out of this world according to them. At any rate they all want to go to another concert and have a few more people that said they would like to join us. Me thinks we will have to rent a bus soon, they think a Hummer limo would be better. Three of the friends I had brought to JNT 2005 preferred that concert over this years. Clay started singing very cautiously perhaps because of all the mike trouble he had initially. His voice became stronger and almost blew the roof off with DSIAFCD and AIW. I don't know if I ever heard either better done. The strength, the tone and the resonance were unbelievable. I believe everything he said has been documented already. There were about ten video cameras downstairs going at all times. We, unfortunately, sat up in the bslcony. Someone asked to see his socks and he refused saying what else will you want to see. But then he lifted his leg and pulled up his pants to show the socks on each leg one at a time. Well I better force myself to wrap before it's too late. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday, whatever it might be. Candy corn for everyone all year round. :o
  24. ldyjoclyn Wow do I ever agree with you. This is my most favorite on the cd. I can't get enough of this song. Of course when looking at the video of Clay singing it in Clearwater last year that was another home run. When my youngest son, a musician and songwriter for many years, heard this when it first came out he was impressed at how much Clay (his voice) had grown since MOAM.
  25. I have got to say I never liked this song but Clay has managed to change my mind. I have a cd with Ella Fitzgerald singing this and I think Clay's version is better. Although Ella is another pure voice who can really change songs up.
