  1. Thanks for the birthday wishes, although I haven't had a birthday in many years. Georgiaclay I hope you had a fantastic birthday, if you still have them. My husband and my nextdoor neighbor made me a yummy coconut cake from two fresh coconuts and poured the coconut milk over the cake. That was good! Thanks to playbiller for the two cds you sent for Mr. Fear to give me. It seems to me from reading various and sundry boards that Clay's July appearances will not be on tv. What could these be? Was Clay nominated for the Noble Peace Prize? Will he be speaking at the UN about world peace? I'm gonna go with a benefit appearance for some high profile charity.
  2. Playbiller maroon sounds good. I like fall colors. Clay will appear when he is good and ready. He's already done GMA two years in a row and I tend to think that the same people stick with their favorite morning show. Maybe he needs to reach another audience. On AI5 with the new hair , he appeared to want to reach a younger group of fans. I wonder what shows that would be other than TRL? Before AI5 I think we were just as frustrated as now. I'm hoping he comes up with another shocker. This time leave Mike S. home.
  3. BC I doubt I would ever run into Clay anywhere. I live about 100 miles from Raleigh. But there are golf courses everywhere. I even played golf. My husband just got the OK from his surgeon to play golf in a month from now. He is a long-limbed six footer and has played golf since childhood. But I digress. Boy, if Clay ever chose a board to do an exclusive chat, even FCA, we would really see fireworks. I would like to see a question and answer section at the OFC though.
  4. I don't have any wallpapers on my computer either, but its not because of embarrassment its just that my desk top is covered with icons. Does anyone have any guesses as to what the highly secretive PR plan is for Clay's cd? I think they might put concert tickets in some of the cds or maybe even a chance to win a car. Nothing original but it sure seems to encourage sales for others cds. I think he will be in a fashion layout. I thought he looked great in those old Rolling Stone pictures. Maybe there will be pictures of him playing golf. Everyone in NC plays golf. I think they will announce an international tour and its high time. Perhaps he will appear at some international festivals. I also think he will appear in acting roles on tv and in films.
  5. Sorry I have been missing. May I give belated birthday wishes to Ansa and Couchie, two very sweet and most excellent Clay fans. I wish I could do those fancy birthday thingies but I can't. So I am sending you a Clay dream, hope you got it! I organized my clack and now have a whole bunch of room for new stuff. I didn't realize how many cds I had in that box. I won't be ordering any MOAMs in the near future. How do you store autographed pictures and cds? Seems like a lot of fans are getting edgy! I guess this waiting game is a little stressful. Good thing we can't all see each other or a lot of fistfights might break out. :5:
  6. I'm with you Ansa. I think very soon is much quicker than quite soon. Just as long as the cd doesn't come out in July. It would be too soon for me. I am the anticipation girl and enjoy the waiting. I'm hoping we get a single in July. Although I never listen to the radio, except NPR and sometimes an oldies station, I would enjoy hearing others talk about their radio experiences. I really hope that the dj's treat Clay with respect this time around. He has worked his butt off these three years and has one of the best voices in the music scene. Bottlecap, Mr. Fear knows he owes me big time. I just have to figure out the most advantageous way to collect. He has been pretty good about my going out of town for concerts, and usually says to have a good time. So i will continue to hope for GMA.
  7. I really hope there is a GMA appearance on the 21st. We are supposed to be in NJ for a vacation on the 22nd. Now how do I trick my husband into going a few days early? I think I spend way too much time thinking about how to fool him. Playbiller and I went last year. She was very sweet and gave me the chair while she tried to sleep on the park steps. It was very cool at night and got hot in the morning. By the time it was over I was one big mess. Clay was so cute and boyish. He was having one great time there. I kept forgetting to tape it and Playbiller kept nudging me to turn the camcorder on. I've been trying to do something with the tape as I had some great closeups but moviemaker is not my friend. So here's hoping for a repeat this year.
  8. Hey bottlecap, look at it this way: waiting for your birthday (not now but as a kid) is a lot more fun than the actual birthday. On your birthday you have the presents and now all that is left to look forward to is the next birthday, a year from then. :2164: That's how I look at Clay's cd. I will love the buildup for it as well as the anticipation of hearing it, but once I have it in my hands, I am ready to get prepared for the next cd. :704: Cute clip, musicfest.
  9. I am cracking up here reading the last few days' posts. HDTV, mean sisters-- Oh that's right that's me. Ha! I love to give Playbiller a hard time. I've been having a good time as acting nurse for my husband who had knee replacement surgery. I get to give him two shots a day. If I had known it was this much fun I would have been a real nurse. :20: I haven't been too concerned about the lack of news about Clay. I assume that RCA works on a time table and things will happen according to this schedule not according to ours. I have no doubt that press releases have beeen written, tv appearances scheduled and radio contacts are being made. Maybe I'm wrong in assuming that everyone has a to do list, but they are dealing with big bucks here. Clay is not an unknown. He has a record of great sales and fans who have stayed with him for three years. The new AI survivors have yet to prove themselves and sales will be lost if their cds are not released soon. Clay has said in interviews that they want to do things differently with this cd, so expecting that he will follow the tried and true path might be an incorrect assumption. I am really interested in seeing the progression of this pr campaign. It's all business.
  10. From what I read on other boards a lot of new young fans are thudding. Way to show Paula how AC you are.
  11. Sorry Playbiller, I admit I am older than you, but having two sons who I never knew what they would look or dress like from day to day, Clay's look is pretty mild. I think he looks so different from AI days. He did that other parody on SNL with the gay man's chorus. He really is showing not just the fans but the general public and the djs (a separate class) that he can laugh about the mess. I absolutely love it.
  12. I'm here now. Clay is the master of PR. Who do you think all the entertainment shows will have on tomorrow? I really did like his hair and was that freckles I saw or the pixles on my old 13" tv? Hi bottlecap! I hope they have the caps up soon. Iwant to see the whole thing.
  13. Maybe I misread the blog, but did Clay say that only his sickness could stop him from working and something else. I guess I should copy it instead of using my worn out memory. What was he telling us? Am I the only one who has to reply after reading Clay's blog? It seems so conversational that I always feel the need to say something back no matter how uninspired. The block party was a great time, my butt is still sore from sitting at the computer all day. To top it off I spent three hours on Sunday at the library with a tech guy trying to figure out why the laptop at my volunteer job won't network with the others. Turns out I have a bad card. Good thing I don't use it for my Clay interests. :13: I really got used to the emoticons at the CH.
  14. To sort of change the topic, I was searching Lycos, which has become a real headache lately, and saw an article about voting on AI. The writer said how she voted with a vengeance for Clay on AI2. The comments following the article had many people saying how they had voted for Clay on AI2. I hope they are ready to buy the new cd this year. It was nice reading something positive again. Go get the your cobra Playbiller. Your own personal gnats. And a blight on all the gnats.
  15. Happy Birthday To one of the funniest bottlecaps that has ever posted on FCA. May no bottleopeners cross your path today. Here's hoping everyone drinks out of cans. Best wishes for a great day. Too bad we don't have a list where everyone who is having a birthday gets a greeting from Clay. It could be like the list where the prez sends greetings to those reaching 100.
  16. Isn't that what a lot of covers means? He could put his album on a mobius strip and we would have infinite covers. Every fan could have his/her pictures used and then everyone in the universe would be happy.
  17. I have to agree with you Ansa. I have been feeling manipulated. It seems like we are being questioned about why we aren't concerned, as if there is something wrong with us cheery folks. I have been particularly concerned about the "tell RCA " folks who insist that we post at the OFC. IIRC when Clay's second single was being released it seemed that the fandom was petitioning for the Way over I Will Carry You. We know how that worked out. I just like my happy place. I am not totally happy though. I started on a low fat diet Monday due to high cholesterol and I miss my toast and butter.
  18. bottlecap, That is a riot. I absolutely agree with your assessment of that blurb in EW. To me it said nothing. Somewhere I posted that it sounded like it was written by newbie at EW who thought he/she would have a little fun with the "claymates". I don't think there is any way this album is all covers. Clay said he was looking at new material. I also reread an article where he talked about being a better businessman and learning to stand his ground. After that meeting that Jamyes had in Nashville and with all those writers that attended who were interested in writing for Clay, surely they got at least 12 good songs out of it. Sometimes this fandom appears to subscribe to mass hysteria. (Of course this is the only board on which I would dare suggest this.) And I'm sure the tabloid stuff helped contribute to this. It just seems so counterproductive to think negative about something they have no control over. Since Clay's last blog said he was excited and happy about the cd, that's what I'm going to believe. One of the things I have always liked about Clay is that he dares to be different. It doesn't always work out well for him, but he is a heck of a lot more interesting than your typical pop star. I don't care if he ever becomes a superstar, but I do wish he would get more respect for his talent and personality. So good luck at the Coach store in the future bottlecap. The salesperson you had was not very smart obviously. Maybe next time you could let the hundred dollar bills peak out from your handbag. Ansa, I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your posts at the CH. Way to stick to your guns.
  19. Couchie, You have to wait a minute or so for the megaload to say "download here" but in the meantime you get at least one popup that you have to x out before you can see the that download message. After you press enter on the download here message, it asks you where to save it and after that it should begin downloading. Its a zip file and you also have to unzip before watching it. These are hour long episodes and took me several hours to download, so I would do it overnight.
  20. I like the idea of Clay on Project Runway. But if he picked the wrong outfit would a group of fans come out of the woodwork to criticise his choice and threaten to leave the fandom? I'm at the point where I can't tell fan from foe. Oy!!! I think I have angst overload today. It was almost nice to go to the grocery store. If you get a chance Trekkietoo put up video of the British version of Project Runway in the CH TV thread. It's called Project Catwalk. I've watched episode one so far and it was pretty interesting.
  21. In Cary at the JBT, it seemed like there were many large cameras near the sound board. Also Jaymes was near the sound board too. They may have been tv cameras, I don't know. But that would have been a likely place to take concert video as they knew there would be a large turnout. I would imagine there would be some concert video as that's when Clay really shines. I could also see recording video as many fans have talked about it. He could also include moving back to Raleigh with scenes of his hometown and old friends as part of where he belongs. Now I am curious as to when the publicity blitz begins. Last spring when he started making nice with AI, I predicted that he would sing there when his new cd debuts. I still think this will happen.
  22. I would enjoy doing an AI2 review. That was the last season of AI that I saw, not including the time I went to Greensboro when Clay was an emcee for AI3. I am a really stubborn person and refuse to watch anything on FOX. And not because of AI. Didn't watch any of the Clay appearances on AI3 or AI4, than goodnedd for Clack. I even gave up the Simpsons (not Jessica and Ashley). So I am sorry but I won't be watching AI5. I also have at least one unique prize that I would be willing to donate to any games you may design.
  23. ldyjocelyn and couchie, I can do the calendar for $30. a year with a ten year contract. Penalty for early cancellation. That would definitely keep the OFC going for ten more years. Right now my hair looks so bad I would be glad to have John fix it up, but I hate a lot of product. I'll bet Clay is just happy to have someone fix his hair so it stays out of his eyes. It's amazing to me how hair is a major topic on Clay boards. He may keep these styles just to keep the fans talking and away from digging up his mom's grass.
  24. I think a talking calendar would be great. It could have a touch screen, where one could touch any day of the week and find out what Clay is doing in his own voice. That way we could organize dental, hair and other appointments around Clay appearances. Maybe it could be updated from the OFC or even better FCA. The pictures would change daily. It could be set up as a screensaver on your computer or a stand alone handheld PDA. Although the cost would be high initially it would pay for itself in 30 or 40 years. Just like our hybrid car. Dream on.
  25. I too have to go through my plastic tubs to sort through things. Although my sister teases that I have more stuff than she has, a good part of the stuff was given to me by her, i.e. the bobblehead doll, Rolling Stone, EW and other magazines, a copy of TITN cd, ornaments. I have cut out many magazine articles from our local paper in NC (not all good). I won three blue water bottles that say Clay on them at JBT preparty. I have an autographed magazine that I bought from BAF, an autographed picture and cd from Krispie Kreme and the autographed fan club picture. Pins, mug, candle and other stuff I bought are also in the tubs. Plus I have many pins. I have to start d/l some clack from Clearwater since I cleaned off my hard drive and moved everything over to an external drive. He was definitely on fire that night. By the way bottlecap, my husband was making origami penquins after Christmas until I told him to stop at which point he started making origami bugs. I told him I would make him a cootie catcher, a skill I remember from elementary school.
