  1. Or while riding in a monstrous glass slipper, sipping champagne. Great movie.
  2. My take on it, as if anyone cared, is no big deal. Anyone who has worked in the government or military or politics is familiar with "eyes only" or "ears only" material or discussions. Sometimes there are obvious reasons, sometimes it's a big WTF? Just look at Obama's lunch with Congress - cameras and media for the beginning and end but no reporting on the actual luncheon. Was anything important discussed? Maybe, maybe not, but it gives people who are under constant media surveillance a time-out to just be with colleagues. Clay seems to be a very private person and he has been burned badly by the media and rumors on the Internet. I'm not at all surprised that he wanted to do some preemptive damage control. I, personally, don't think the exclusiveness as a prize to be paid for was part of the rationale, but that's just my feeling.
  3. Go Ruben! I guess his Momma finally got Ruben to stop saying "me and Clay". It was his signature line.
  4. I'd LOVE to have him back in Toronto! Were you there for the Ontario Place JBT, and maybe the party before it? We had a blast that night... If I had my choice for a TO venue, it would have to be Massey Hall. It would be wonderful to hear his voice in a theatre with perfect acoustics. Yes, I was at the TO JBT but not the party. ncgurrl, Thanks for the Malware link. I'm going to try it out.
  5. I'm going to suggest June 22nd in Toronto for a start date for Clay's "Summer Hits Tour." Whoops, that acronym doesn't cut it. Anyone have a link for the Malware software??
  6. There'll be a lot to shovel! I'm about 200 miles east of Buffalo and had 8"-10" last night with more on the way. Buffalo always has more than we do! I hope you can even find your car with the way it's going.
  7. What surprised me about the ETHS, was how repetitive the footage they used was. The Invisible video, AI show, AI tour, the Disney parade, a very early collage and some early interviews were all repeated again and again. Of course, there was nothing from any of the concert tours as most of our beloved clack couldn't be televised without legal problems. There almost no network stuff - no PrimeTime, no Kimmel, none of the morning shows. Just one snippet of a Christmas appearance. Even though they talked about the Regis & Kelly gig, and showed footage of Regis, there was nothing from Clay's show. Probably just a matter of fees, clearances or competitors. Non-fans would probably not be aware of it, but it screamed low-budget, quickie, grind it out.. Not that that should surprise me. I suspect Holleman was the source for all the early pictures and vids as there were none of the ones used in LTS. I would guess they couldn't get permission for any of that. Should I be embarrassed that I recognized where 90% of the clips came from? Knew almost all the players and could immediately point out factual errors? Can you say, a bit too invested?? As for content - whatever....
  8. jmh and I were there on Tuesday & Wed. nights of the "great Out". On Tuesday the paparazzi were out in force at the SD along with the FBM crew and a few (very few) regular fans. It was a very, very weird bunch. On Wed. night, People had hit the stands in New York in the late afternoon and a few of us had copies. In fact, David H. grabbed my copy and asked where I'd gotten it. He obviously knew it was coming. Clay's performances were well recieved both nights, but it was pretty obviously not a fan group. Where we were sitting, most of the audience were foreign tourists (esp. Tues. night). A lot of the word play was not too well understood, but the physical comedy brought good reactions. Clay's reception was very much in line with the rest of the cast - not much better nor much worse. He was an integral part of a very good and very funny production.
  9. I know most of you don't know me at all, but I want to assure you that I'm not a downer or half-empty person. When I say that I find something curious or I wonder about something it's just that - curiosity - nothing more. I'm not angsting over it, I'm not changing my life because of it. It's just something that popped into my head. I enjoy Clay, I'm captivated by some of the things he does, but my life doesn't revolve around his hair style, or lack thereof. I usually check in every day to see what's going on, but I stopped posting regularly three or four years ago. I did all the deep, meaningful discussions in the first six months of my obsession fandom and my I'm chill with most anything and just curious about what's next.
  10. Does anyone else think it's strange that Clay would let Parker's illness be the focus of ET's coverage? Unless ET is just picking out the most invasive piece for rating values. Of course ET would never do that! Too much journalistic integrity. :snerk: Maybe Clay is using Parker to raise awareness. That's the only way I could see Clay purposely letting his condition & surgery be the real point of the interview. Whatever it is, I get to see Clay as Clay for the third time in a week on my TV! A surfeit of pleasures.
  11. Wow! I'm impressed. For a parade route quickie, I thought they asked great questions. About his career - Broadway, recording or ??: About Spamalot - doesn't it get boring?: About Parker - How does this change your life? I almost wonder if Clay gave them the questions. These are certainly have more substance than many of the "real" interviews. On the other hand, the makeup and hair????? I know Clay thought it was going to be inside under TV lights, but WTF?
  12. I think this the the right link. Broadway Audience Awards I remember seeeing this last spring, but the by-line has today's date. What's up with that? ETA. Yep, not crazy yet. At the bottom the date is 5/3/08.
  13. Pumpkin is also recommended for helping dogs lose weight. Just substitute pumpkin for some of the regular dog food. Most dogs love it and there's no fat.
  14. As to the raunch level at Friars' - consider the source. The only real source we have for quotes is a blog by someone who wasn't supposed to be recording anything - even by writing. Of course, he's going to scribble down the worst of the worst. This wasn't a factual account of the entire evening, just what some blogger picked out. I'm sure there was also a lot of relatively harmless stuff like the jacket/closet joke mentioned above. What strikes me is how much attention was paid to Clay when he was just a bit player is the whole evening. On one of the clips - Access Hollywood, maybe - you can see that his chair was in the third row toward the end on the dias. He wasn't one of the prime players, but he was definitely noticed.
  15. I love it that he's just "singer and actor" ! No AI, no gay Dad, no comments. Maybe he's finally graduated!?!?
  16. I have a question for anyone who was at the Gala. Were there any tables that seem to have been purchased by corporate or association supporters rather than fans? It would be great for BAF if they were getting that type of support. That's where the really big grants and funding sources are. I'm just curious how much BAF has been able to move away from fan-only support. Fan support has been great, but IMHO there should be a mix of government, corporate, foundation monies also to give BAF real longevity and a presence in the not-for-profit world.
  17. I guess the sloppiness of the media extends to photo captioning! Where are the fact checkers when you need them? ETA SNAP
  18. Mylar is the word to look for. That's the brand name for one of the best sheet protectors. University Products is good and here are a couple more sources. Gaylord Hollinger Metal edge Check how close they are to you as shipping can be very expensive. Having given you that info, I would suggest not using any plastic. Just buy an appropriately sized archival box and keep them there. Any plastic, even mylar, can create more problems than it prevents especially if it is kept in an area that is not climate controlled to within +_ 2 degrees of relative humidity. If you are in an area with high humidty do NOT use any plastic. If you need more info, PM me. Yes, this was my profession for many years.
  19. Thanks for the info. Can't be much "outer" than Elton so I think that's a thing of the past. When Disney was alive, things were very strict on many levels, but that was a long time ago.
  20. I have a question about Disney and being gay. I know that years ago you couldn't be openly (or even loosely closeted) and gay and work with Disney. Has that changed? Are there "out" gay stars that work for Disney now? I don't follow it, so have no idea. :8:
  21. Anybody else out there really like our thread title in light of the more recent developments? I know it was originally choosen to honor Spamalot, but .....
  22. Hey. You are me. I've already tried shipping him with Tom Deckman, but decided that would be too manic a pairing. I settled on Chris Siebert (even though he is in a committed relationship.) I always really liked the on-stage chemistry between them. It seems that Claymania has returned to the Schubert, but I'm glad I was there on a night when there were very few Clayfans in the audience. It really showed how well he fit into the cast, even without the screaming Zombie Hordes (Whores?). Someone not knowing who he was ( and there were many in the audience that night) would never have picked him out as a novice or not being up to the standard of the rest of the cast. That's quite an accomplishment! This is freaking Broadway and Clay is working with seasoned vetrans who have been honing their craft for many, many years. Maybe the response to him wasn't the loudest and longest, but it was very, very good. The only joke that didn't go over very well that night was the "Idol" line. That told me that many in the audience didn't know who he was. Where I was sitting there were lots of European tourists. While not always getting some of the intricate word play, they loved the broader comedy. ETA Waves to jmh. Have a safe journey home! If you get stuck there, call me!
  23. I'm very guilty of not having checked in earlier, but by the time I got back from NYC, having dropped jmh off at her "boyfriends", so much shit was flying around that I had no idea where to chime in. To set the record straight, "WE" did not see the People on the newsstand jmh did. She was standing there, pointing, going 'gah, gah, umh!" and - clueless as ever - I'm looking at the bottled water and the soft drinks which we had been searching for all day! This was just before 5pm on Wed. and yes we both bought copies and devoured them along with our dinner! We hadn't really been caught too much off guard by the cover as I had overheard the TMZ paparazzi talking about people and covers the night before. The content was a bit of a surprise. That night I had my copy of People under the Playbill, in case Clay came out (stage door!) as you all know, he didn't. However, David Hibbard did and after signing my Playbill, practically pulled it out of my hands so he could read it saying something along the lines "So, it's out already." He seemed quite excited about it and it was obvious he knew it was coming. Cindilu, jmh thought it was you, but wasn't quite sure enough to go up and say Hello. I'm sorry we didn't do it anyway. I think if things hadn't been so emotionally charged that night, we would have. ETA jmh and I had a very interesting drive home. We both have Real Life gay BFFs, but they have very, very different backgrounds and differing gay lifestyles. We each tend to see Clay as having a similar path to our own BFF!!! and they don't match at all. Just goes to show that people are individuals no matter their orientation. Not all gays live, come out or react the same. About the Tyra kiss, yes I kiss my BFF. and I'd do him in a second if he were at all interested. When I was 50, he was 30 and I have often wondered over the past months if I would have asked him to donate if I had really, really wanted a child.
  24. I think one of the very important differences between the judges on AI and those on SYTYCD is the passion that the latter feel for dance. It is so obvious that they care about the whole world of dance, including the choreographers, dancers, teachers and fans. If Mary were doing her thing only for effect, it would be impossible to take, but she really seems to care about the performance and the performers. I always hated the auditions on AI, but I can only agree with Nigel when he rips into people with very poor qualifications who are teaching dance. He also obviously cares deeply about dance and I think he sees SYTYCD as a vehicle to promote dance to a very large audience.
  25. "And sometimes the answer is no." Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a timetable or schedule for restoration of power. The best I could do was find the outage map that, supposedly, is updated twice a day. It's HERE Click on "map & details" At least it shows where they seem to be working. ETA - You have to click on the smaller maps on the left side to see any green (restored power) areas.
