  1. To answer you question, the three young guys said that they knew someone who work there who got them the tickets. I was just impressed how excited they were. The one sitting next to us is a theater musical major and he just kept commenting on how incredible Clays voice is.
  2. Just a mini recap from last night. It was just beautiful. We got upgraded to 3rd row pit, center seats.( the best I have ever had, we were originally in 19th row, upgraded to 10th, the upgraded to these.) We were sitting right next to 3 young gentleman who were juniors at University of Michigan, and were so complementary to the whole show. The one right next to us was really into it. I have to say that Clay sounded just great and the lights on him were amazing. AIW came on and always makes me nervous, toward the end I thought he sounded a little raspy but he hit the note, just did not hold it as long as he does sometimes. My concert buddy has only been to one previous concert and that was this summer, she left in a true Aiken fog. I teased her most of the way home. I know this is not very articulate but I too am in that fog.
  3. I am loving the pictures from last night. He is gorgeous! I am just reading along this am till I have to get ready to leave for Kalamazoo. Looks like our drive will be fine. Winter storm warning for tomorrow afternoon. Last night I almost had to cancel because my mom was in ER, but she is home and better. I called her this morning, she wants a poster tonight. She has been to two other Christmas concerts and she is going to miss this one. Age is catching up and it would be to long a drive and to late for her. I teased her that if I get her the poster she can finally take down her calender. She loves those pictures and has kept it up.
  4. There is always a chance that tickets may show up. She is going to keep trying, also may take a ride that afternoon after school to the venue, since it is only about 20 minutes away, and see if anything come up. She decided not to tell her daughter anything until that day.
  5. Tomorrrow I have to work and our computers filter everything. One day I was caught up and just went on cnn and tried to get into the entertainment section and it would not let me. It use to allow us to go on Mlife which has all the Michigan newspapers on line. Can't do that now, so I do not even try to get on here. I had previously shown my friend clack from last years show. She had only gone to this summer concerts with me. She loves his voice and I know she will not be disappointed. We had to laugh at her nine year old daughter. She wants to see Hanna Montanna really bad and my friend tried. She joined the fan club for pre-sale, she went and stood in line at Macy's the morning they went on sale( she was the 21st person in line, and they only sold 32 tickets), she had three people had home trying to buy tickets at the same time. She got nothing, so three days later we were on line for the Miller Auditorium(it took three hours to get tickets) and her daughter kept saying that we would spend all that time for Clay but not for her tickets. I reminded her nicely that her Mom tried really hard. She told her that she will not pay broker prices for tickets. She quiter now but did remind us the other day that someone in her class is going and that Mom paid $800 a ticket. Her Mom informed her there are limits to her fiances and that if she had to pay that much for Clay's she would not be going. I do not know if that satisfy her but she has not mentioned going lately. I sure come Dec. 5th when Hanna will be here she will bring it up again.
  6. Downloading the videos from last night and cannot believe how gorgeous he looked and sounded unbelievable. I know there were a few cracks in his voice now and then but overall It was really great. My concert buddy does not read any of the boards so when I talked to her this am I just told her it was different from last year. I will let her make her mind up without influence. From what I saw I know that I will love it. I love the banter, but it isn't necessary every tour. I love listening to the voice.
  7. Two of my children are color blind. They only tell the street light signals by position, they have a problem when there is a 4th light added. When my middle child was in high school in biology class he had to look under the microscope and answer questions. He came home from school and had a paper all marked wrong, He normally was a good student. I asked him what was wrong. He could not decifer what he was looking at. I told him I would talk to the teacher, but he wanted to handle it. The teacher was very understanding and even gave a lecture to the class on genetics and color blindness.
  8. My children loved the muppets. My middle child use to carry a cookie monster stuff animanl around all the time. When my oldest child was a teenager he told me he was a deprived child when he was a pre-schooler. At the time we had a black and white tv. He told me he did not know the color of all the major charectors. I came back that he would not of known even with a color tv. He is very color blind and would not even know what he was looking at.
  9. I got my pins today also! Thanks for your hard work. I was shock they got to Michigan already. I am looking outside and the snow is acculminating(SP). The weather for mid Michigan for Fri. is a couple of inches. I am praying they are wrong, because it is usually worse on the west side to the state. I guess we will have to leave a lot earlier than we thought. I can not wait to we get report from tonight. I new there was a reason why I did not schedule myself to work tomorrow.
  10. Yes it was man made snow. It has been cold enough to make snow, so there was enough to open three hills. I only had one injury today, a 11 year old who hit his friends snowboard after he fell and lacerated his chin. Cleaned it up, put a butterfly on it and called his mom to take him for stitches. I was suppose to have patrol tomorrow but it looks like a mixture of rain and snow so they are thinking of not opening up. I hope so, I need to go to my Moms and take her grocery shopping, set her pills up for the week, and whatever else she needs done.
  11. It is so exciting to hear the little tidbits about the tour. I did not win either the story or the M&G, but that is fine. Did not really think it would happen and I am just glad to be able to go to Kalamazoo. That is the first time I will be back to this campus since by middle child graduated in 2004 from WMU. Today was my first day doing ski patrol for seven hours. Tomorrow my legs are going to feel it. We came home and hit the jacuzzi and had a beer. The sore spots are the lower part of my calf on both legs. I have big calves so the top of the boots pinch that area. I swear they do not make boots for most ladies legs.
  12. I am going also, and bringing a friend. Probably will not see anybody after the concert. We are heading back home after, it is a 2.5 hr drive. The only way we would stay is if the weather is really bad. I hope you guys party all night!
  13. I had my first experience shopping on Black Friday. My husband had a few things he wanted so I decided to go for it. We had four stores in mind, with 1-2 items per store. We got to the first store 1/2 hour before they opened and stood in line. They were well organized. When you entered the store if you wanted something on the first page of the ad you were given a ticket to the tickets were gone. There was no pushing or shoving. We got what we went for and went to the next store. At every store we went into we got what we wanted and was home in less than 2 hours. I know this was probably a freak thing, so I do not know if I will try again next year. But it was fun, and I got to view the extremes that some people will go through. Our local news had on at 11 last night the picture of Best Buy with everyone camped out in tents and sleeping bags. There is no way I would do that. It is cold here in Michigan. Last night got down to 12 degrees. Our local ski hill where I patrol has been making snow for the last to days. I was just e-mailed that I have to patrol this weekend. I am not ready, I wanted to decorate the house and start baking. I did get the outside done today, but the inside will take me about three days to get done. And nothing is interferring with Kalamazoo next Friday.
  14. Some of you had very elaborate menues. My DIL for the second year in a row hosted our dinner. Last year when she said she would do it I thought she was crazy. My son and her wedding was two days later. She did it and it was really good. This year she offered again and because they actually have more space then me I did not argue. I brought green bean casserole, and sweet potato and pecan topped casserole. Her mother brought the homemade cranberry sauce and apple and pumpkin pie. My DIL made the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, a cranberry and walnut salad, rolls, two other pies, and made a couple of appetizers. I think this is great for someone who is only 24 years old. I loved his blogged last night. My story probably will not get picked so I am not concerned about the wearing of all black. Read this morning on the OFC that people were upset that he suggested this. I had to laugh, thought if this opportunity came about I would find black somewhere. What I read is that people either picked out what they wanted already to wear or they could not afford to buy something else. I am not wearing black to the concert, but if picked I am sure I could go through my closet. I never post over their, but my answer to them would be do not get upset to you find out if you are reading or quit complaining about everything. Some people are never happy.
  15. No, normally my back does not hurt, but I do tend to slouch somewhat because I try to hide them. Because I am short, when I am not working, I try to wear shoes that have higher heels to make me look taller. Cute story, I have three younger sisters. The middle sister also had large breast and had a reduction done. My younger sister, after threee children, was totally flat so she had inplants done. She teased the Dr. that they should of did a sibling to sibling transplant with her sister. It is a standing joke with us. My sister who had the reduction now comments that hers now stand up instead of going south.
  16. I wear a 38H bra. They are hard to find and end up costing me about 40-60 dollars each. I knew I was doomed when I was in 7th grade and already war a C cup. I have never been a member of Curves. The one we had in town closed up. I always wanted to be a member of our local club here that is affliated with the Hospital but it had a start up fee of $400 and monthly cost of $85 and I can not justify it. So I just exercise in my basement of my Gazelle, treadmill, or my bike that is on the trainer. I have great lower body strengh but my upper body is pathetic
  17. I am a crust lover but both are very good. It is also raining like crazy here in Michigan and turning to snow tonight. It is over 2 hrs to Kalamazoo and not looking forward to the drive if the roads are bad. Last year was bad for you guys on the first two nights. I got lucky, when Grand Rapids came around it was beautiful and in the 40's. In 2004 into Detroit was 10 inches of snow. Luckily my husband drove me and my mother and dropped us off, and went shopping while we were in the concert. All my mother keeps reminding me was it was 10 degrees that night and I was trying to freeze her when looking for the van afterwards.
  18. My friend who is going to Kalamazoo with me came over this am to watch Rewind. We both agreed that we need to do something to improve our overall health. She has a hard time exercising because of a heel spur and I do not have a problem that way just need to give up some calories. After the Holidays we are going to work on this together. I know a few of you are going to Kalamazoo and would love to meet you. Just tell me were you are sitting and I will track you down. My friend has the ticket, so I can not remember the exact sit we are in. I will find out and let you know.
  19. Here is the Pumking Pie Cake: Crust: 1(2 layer size) box yellow cake mix(reserve 1 cup) 1/2 cup (1stick) margarine - very soft 1 egg Filling: 1 large can pumpkin 3 eggs 2/3 c evaporated milk 2tsp cinnamon 1 cup sugar Topping: 1 cup reserved cake mix 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup margarine, softened 1 cup chopped pecans Mix crust ingredients and press into 13x9 inch baking pan. Mix filling ingredients and pour over crusts. Mix cake mix, sugar, and margarine together until crumble; sprinkle over filling. Sprinkle pecans on top. Bake at 350 for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Serve warm with whipp topping. I also have a great Sweet potato casserole recipe if any one is interested. That is what I am taking to my son's tomorrow along with green bean casserole.
  20. My husband last week stayed home from work because he did not feel well and worked from his in house office. He had on our local radio station that I would classify as Hot AC. He came into the kitchen at lunch time and said I have heard the same 15 songs all morning. He was already tired of hearing Daughtry and Kelly.(Since You Been Gone) was played every hour. He said is it like this all the time? I informed him that most of the time the same songs are played over and over. He normally listens to the country station and does not notice it their so much. I like Daughtry during his year on AI, but did not like his reaction when he was sent home. It was not very mature acting to me. I really like the song Home, but not his other songs so I did not go out and buy the CD. I know alot of people do like him and I have no problem with that. Just not my cup of tea.
  21. Yes, I am short, almost 5 ft. But I am top heavy, I wear a H bra. That makes finding some clothes hard. When I am 30 pounds lighter it is easier to find clothes. I am promising myself that I have to lose some because I do feel better when I am ligher. My knees hurt when I have added weight. When I ride by bike or ski that helps and they do not hurt as much. I work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and work normally a 12 hour shift and I am on my feet all day. Most days I usually get about a half hour break all day. When less weight is involved it helps the fatique factor.
  22. I got to tell you a cute story. I was at work last week and the patient I had was a 17 year old who had been really sick and on the ventilator for almost 3 weeks. Finally he was off and able to talk. He ask me to put CMT on tv. His friends came and visited on and off all day and when they did they would put BET on. As soon as they left he would ask that CMT be put on. This when on all day. At about 5:30 he told me he was in love with Carrie and wanted to marry her. I said why did he not tell me he liked her earlier today, I would of gone to my car and got both of her CD's and he could of listerned to them. He was so cute telling me this. I got to transfer him on Fri. to rehab and told him to tell them to make sure he could bring in a CD player to listen to. This is an adult Rehab unit, I was so glad they found a private room so he can have his friends around instead of being in a room with a 70-80 year old individual.
  23. I have always been real active but have always battled my weight. Three years ago I lost weight and got down to a size 4. I worked hard at it because I had to take my senior ski patrol exam and wanted to wear a one piece outfit so they go see what I was really doing instead of wearing a big jacket. Now it has gradually come back on and I am not happy. When I took that exam I was skiing 5 days a week and working out at the same time. I think alot has to do with the fact that I hate doing it by myself all the time. I try to get my friends to walk or ride their bike with me but I do not get far. Michigan weather can get rough sometimes, so doing things other than skiing outside is hard during the months from Dec. to about March. But I have made my mind up that after the Holidays I will get busy. My youngest son is getting married next year and I want to be able to find something that will look good on me.
  24. My sister went and saw Daughtry this summer, and I was really glad she got to go and enjoy herself. I called her and asked her how it went. She loved the concert but decided she must be getting old because the bass was so loud she felt her heart was going to come out of her chest. She went to the same fair two days later and saw Sugarland, and the sound was not so hard on her. I told her I was glad she enjoyed both.
  25. I try very hard to not be critical of other performers. I do not get the Daughtry love, since I find him arrogant, and to give a award to the band when they were not the ones on the CD somehow does not seem right. But I know his fans love him as much as I love Clay so I cannot complain when they vote for him. We would do the same if Clay was nominated. We do not get Rewind till 1100p.m. so I am still waiting to see it.
