  1. Thanks ldyj - I love the decorations! Well I just dropped my baby off to his third shift of his first ever job. He is only 14 (but looks about 10!) and got up off his own backside and got himself a job. I said he should probably wait a year or so but he was so keen that his Dad & I decided to let him have a go. (Where is that proud Mum emoticon?) He looked so cute in his uniform. I had to cut 13cms off the trousers to hem them!and the mens shirts were all too big so he has a ladies shirt (but shhhhh don't tell anyone!). Its at KFC and he has to pump his muscles up to lift those baskets of fries but I suspect its doing him good as well as the customer service aspect - always a useful skill. He normally presents such a confident face to the world but he was visibly nervous today. Just has left me feeling a bit.....nostalgic for the baby days?......nervous and excited for the possibilities?....old?.....
  2. I think her chin has always been a bit pointy, but I will have a closer look when next she is on my TV.
  3. Ummmm.....sunny here but a bit windy.....took the kids to the beach........ Take care on those snowy roads and sidewalks.
  4. Lots of things happening each day now - exciting! Now I am off to buy school shoes for a very reluctant 14 yr old - I would much rather stay on here and look at clack! Waaah! Aaah, now I am fortified for the task.
  5. No appliances here either but I also got some oven mitts! -I asked my DH and told him which shop to go to and described several types I would like- and surprise surprise! he got some gooduns. (might still have got some crap ones knowing his talent for gift giving!) They go up to my elbows and have silicon on both sides - I know its sad to be so pleased about oven mitts even if they are the Rolls Royce version! Hey Lucky I'm sure there are easier bone tests available! We just started painting the undercoat on our pergola this morning but ran out of paint - this was a good thing because a storm rolled in. It now seems to have gone as quickly as it came. I bet Clay is having lots of fun with Parker. Three is such a great age for Christmas.
  6. I have the inlaws coming here for Christmas lunch. There will be about 12 of us so not too crazy. I always do a cold buffet - it is usually about 500 degrees!! - but this year it is quite mild and expected to continue for Christmas day. So today I planned to clean, except a piece of my tooth broke off at lunchtime. So, (after about 20 calls), I finally find a dentist with one spare appointment time. Of course, when I am hurrying to leave it is pouring with rain and I am obviously not paying enough attention when I back into a car parked directly across from my driveway. I found the owner - one of the builders who is working on the house opposite. It was I guess only a matter of time before I ran into one of their vehicles - often times it is a crane or a big truck. It is a legal park but not very sensible or considerate when they have a choice. Funnily enough, despite the big bills heading my way (tooth has a temp patch but needs a crown), I still feel quite upbeat. All my trying to take a calm and "zen like" approach must be working! Tomorrow is cooking. Turkey rolls, ham, nice potato salad, and ummmm....some other salads and pavlova for dessert. Yum! Hey, has anyone here tried a ham glaze that has Coke and brown sugar and some other things in it?
  7. Me too Lucky -I can see it now - we would all be lined up to say our final goodbyes with grey sky and snow (How I picture Canadian funerals...) We all of course would look fabulous in tres chic black dresses and Clay would be singing something dramatically sad and then I would clutch my heart and fall down (in an elegant way, of course) also dying from Lackofclackitis........But then again see below.......... Alrighty! Might be just the thing to miraculously cure Lucky and I!! I mean , if his mother needs sedating then this is something we are duty bound to study watch!
  8. Sounds great - interview was good too - he seemed relaxed and happy. Can't wait to hear the whole song!
  9. Another Big Bang fan here. We get new eps on Monday night and repeats every night at 7.00 and it is one of those shows that I'm happy to watch again and again. Question for this quiet time: What are your shows that you would happily watch repeats of, time and time again ? Mine are Big Bang, Mash, Vicar of Dibley, Are you being Served? - will think of some more.
  10. Why Fear I would love to! We had said for years that one day we would take the kids to America and 2008 ended up being the year. The kids were 10 and 13- not a bad age to remember stuff and also past the age of not keeping up or needing to have special foods, car seats etc like when they were babies. 2008 also saw my husband change jobs within the same company (a bank) so it was easier to take some long service leave in between. In fact he had been working away from home on a 6 month secondment. They flew him home a lot of weekends but during the week it was the boys & I. This left me alone at night after the kids were in bed so I had a lot more internet time. I had already found Clay (on Martha Stewart show)and the boards but now I started to post a bit more. I was left to research and organise the big trip. I went through a travel agent but wanted to know what I was booking. You can imagine my excitement when I started hearing about Spamalot. First the rumours and then the announcement. I hardly dared check the dates....... EEEEEEEEEE!!! Of course I looked up about Spamalot and read that it was a "guys" musical. Being the considerate wife & mother that I am, I booked the tickets. Then I started asking about places to stay, things to see etc on here and also on the Clayboard(?)where they had a big thread about NYC. A couple of ladies, ChaChaTrusty and Anna bear, got in touch and we arranged to meet up in Washington and NYC.This was a great thrill for me and really made the trip special although my son was concerned that we were meeting up with someone off the internet. Which he is NEVER allowed to do. Ever. Finally made it to NYC!!!! I love musicals and saw six in six nights.Bliss. DH & the boys saw 3 and went to baseball & basketball and stayed home one night. I booked Spam and Wicked before I left home so as not to miss out but the others were all from half price tix - if I ever get to go again its the only way to do it. They slug you hard when booking through a middle man in another country and they can't tell you where your seats will be either. I saw Spam the night before our family tickets--because I had to see if it was indeed suitable for the children, you understand. Absolutely no other reason what.so ever. Loved Spam! Not a particular Monty Python fan but loved loved loved it. The understudy in the female lead was great, Tom Deckman was hilarious, and that chicken knight fella- The next night the family came along and they all loved it too. DH said to me "Which one is Clay Aiken?" I pointed him out and he said "Really? Thats him?" - I don't know what he expected! (All the rest of the trip we quoted lines to each other - "they're coconut 'alves" & "but I feel happy" being two faves) It was "Broadway Cares"nights so no stage door but hey ho. I am still grinning as I am typing this. The whole trip was great - started in Florida and travelled up to Quebec City - but NYC was my favourite. I aim to get back there one day and who knows? Maybe there will be another show or a concert with a certain person in. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
  11. I haven't read around elsewhere but I gather there is whining and entitlement etc etc etc - in other words same old same old. I never get to go to anyClaything and I can't see the point of whining if some man I do not know chooses not to put on a concert/gala/allow clack in my area. I am so grateful for the clack when we get it. I will be forever grateful and amazed at the serendipity of me planning a trip (for years!) and Clay just happening to be performing in a musical at the same time and place where I happened to be. I am stillgrinning about that one. Anyhow, how is everyone? Good? Nice thanksgiving? Anyone want a 17 yr old? Going real cheap at the moment.
  12. Congratulations Fear vey exciting- I hope it works out for you.
  13. "painter3 said: Okay, just saw this tweet at the CB and thought it was funny... Jarret Hill I don't care what anybody says, Clay Aiken sings his ass off. Completely off. He has to pick it up and carry it out when he leaves the studio....was Jarret at the party today?" Oh! Can we please have this as a thread title!!!!
  14. I am by no means an expert on this but this is what worries me about this show ( well not "worries" but you all know what I mean). But of course Clay has some experiences of this kind of thing and I am sure can handle himself in any situation. (HeeHee - handle himself)
  15. I've never watched CA but will hunt it down when our CA is on for sure! From what i have seen I think it could be great for Clay..........or maybe V.V...not. I am quite decided on this. Ldy J - maybe we can share some - it wouldn't get stale posting back and forth!
