  1. Everytime I think that I can't love him more, or be more proud of him, and Clay goes and proves me wrong. He is an amazing man.
  2. That could have something to do with it, but from what I saw last night it was Casey and a group of bad singers, so he sure looked like a likely winner to me. I didn't think anything about his looks until he started to sing, but I liked the way singing made him light up, and he knows how to handle that guitar. I haven't heard any of the girls yet. My sister liked the girl who played the harmonica. As to the quote, there's no doubt about it. Season 2 put Idol on the map for a reason - it was exciting to watch the inevitable every week. The judges on Idol focus on tone and who sounds like who, and rip them in comparison, and the same with style and performance as to who they may be trying to channel, or mimic. Nothing like that was ever mentioned with Clay. He was unique in tone, style, performance, versatility and personality. He owned the stage, derivative of no one. And there's been no one like him since. He had so many things going for him simultaneously that it was stunning. I agree with what you said, and Clay still is the only one who has the whole package. I know some have acted and sang, but none have that versatility and personality that Clay has. He definitely has it all. I did watch the girls, and harmonica girl was one that I liked. Can't say I thought any of them were awesome, but there were some (very few) who I thought were ok. I was really disappointed with the guys though because even the ones I liked during Hollywood Week underperformed big time last night. Couchie, I think AI could go on for years too if they focused more on the actual singing and less on the judges and all of those backstage dramas. That stuff gets old after awhile. And I really wish they would actually pick singers for the show because they can sing, not because they look the part or because they think the person will create controversy or drama. I've just started fast forwarding most of that crap and just watching the singing, or dancing like on SYTYCD. They even show those family dramas for contestants that don't even make it. What's the point of that.
  3. Well, I watched both nights of AI this week, and right now, I'm not feeling the love for any of them. Some of the girls were ok, was not impressed with any of the guys, based on last nights performances. And that includes Casey. He's cute enough but I thought the only reason he sounded half way decent was because the others were so bad last night. I read this over at CV. Apparently is was a quote from someone who follows AI but not specifically Clay. I love when others see it too.
  4. bottlecap, I did the same thing the other week. I never watch any of those infomercials or stuff like that, but it was playing songs from the 50's or 60's so I watched. Hated the commercial, but some of the songs were great. Can't wait to find out which songs will be on the cd, and can't wait until March 12th. And CF, those answers do sound like Sparky's. You don't think they are hers, do you?
  5. That's me too. I never signed up for twitter though cuz the only reason I'd want it is for Clay news, which other people bring to the boards anyway. I don't even spend much time on FB unless someone requests me as a friend. Then I go to check how crazy they appear, and if they seem fairly safe, I'll accept them. As far as the VIP passes, I would also like to see something like this go to one of us less well to do fans. I'm truly glad that they can raise money for NIP this way, but it does seem like the same people get most of the opportunities for the really good stuff. With that being said, I'm just happy that I'll have a chance to go to this, and that we should be getting lots of opportunities this year to see Clay. It looks like it's going to be a good year.
  6. Scarlett has been doing a lot of posting on FB. I think interventions are needed for her and Canfly. Damn facebook games.
  7. You can add me to the list. I'll be there until Saturday sometime. I'm not sure what my plans are yet since Canfly, YYG, and ACL will also be going.
  8. First, congratulations Couchie on your new job, and lets hope there will be lots of touring this summer for you to spend your money on. Second, I am so freaking excited because I'm gonna be able to go to this. I hope I'll be able to get decent tickets. Who else from FCA will be going?
  9. treenuts, what are you having? I could use some too. This is so exciting and now there are over 600 fans at the OFC.
  10. I keep checking the OFC and other boards in case I'm looking in the wrong place. Maybe we haven't heard anything yet cuz Clay is still in bed.
  11. I think I'm in love with Larry!! I wonder if Clay will mind I actually teared up when I read he put the banner up on his site so others might learn and donate. How terrific is THAT!! And he wants some suggestions as to what to listen to or videos to watch of Clay. Smart man ;-) But what really touched me was this - *sniff* My eyes are leaking just a bit. I'm so glad that we the fans, the Project and Clay have touched him in some way. Hey, I'd put a smack emotie here but my internet sucks tonight so I can't look it up. treenuts, you know I love ya but stay off of my man. I have already sent out feelers to find out if he's married and cute. But yeah, that blog made me feel so good. And ldyj, so far the comments by the fans have been good. He said he wanted recommendations and he's sure getting them. Some are even putting in links to youtube, and if he's anything like me, once I check out one video, then I want to click another and another. Unless the guys is tone deaf, I'm sure he'll find something on there that he likes.
  12. Here is another great blog from that golfer who blogged about the foundation yesterday. This makes me very happy. http://nothreeputts.blogspot.com/2010/02/s...aiken-fans.html
  13. thankful, I downloaded your stuff and it is my favorite so far. The audio is wonderful and I can't tell you how much I appreciate you and your table mates for not chattering during the recording. It was greatly appreciated. I love watching Clay sing. It's like part of this whole amazing experience, which is why I think this PBS special will be so great for him. He's so beautiful when he sings. As for the songs, I can't say that they were my dream songs for him to sing, but hearing what he does with them is wonderful. His interpretive skills are so perfect for the songs. I cannot wait to hear this cd and to hear him performing these songs (well any songs actually) live.
  14. Unfortunately Scarlett didn't make it for the songs. She was texting or talking with CF while she was on her way but it was while Clay was singing. Although I'm sad that I couldn't be there, I feel really bad for her being so close and then not making it. deborah's audio is up at CH and it's really good. Can't wait until we get more clack.
  15. I liked Jemock's answer to his question. Didn't understand a word she said, but it was hysterical. I'm glad she's still around. I love when I hear something that Clay has sung that I haven't heard in a while. I got an mp3 player last year and downloaded a bunch of my cd's into it and I heard Give a Little Bit the other day. I'd forgotten that he'd even done that. He sounded so good. Another one that came up was What the World Needs Now, the mix with just Clay, Ruben, and Rickey. Wasn't crazy about Rickey's voice on that but the other two sounded wonderful.
  16. We have no idea, but according to Clay, it's gonna be big. It could be when the PBS special is filmed but it had been reported as being done in February, so who knows. Not sure if I can go but I sure hope lots of fans can go and give updates and clack.
  17. He's so funny. It appears we have to wait a little bit longer but he did give us a heads up for when and where, just not what.
  18. I think what was said was less of an issue than that Clay had no intention of including HER in HIS private theater experience. A polite hello was not going to be expanded into a discussion of any sort so Clay shut her down quickly. That's the key though. Clay handled it, which he is perfectly capable of doing, and he was gracious. He's said that he doesn't mind people coming up to him, and he has answered questions before. If she'd asked him while he was trying to watch the show, that would have been different, but it was while people were being seated. And I agree with Couchie. It doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal.
  19. Although I probably wouldn't have gone up to Clay to say anything, partly because I'm a chicken shit, I don't see the issue with BFS asking the question. She asked, he let her know that he wasn't going to answer, and she let it go and didn't continue to question him. If she would have continued to badger him with questions, when he had made it apparent he wasn't going to answer them, then that would have been over the line. I just think sometimes fans can be hard on other fans because their boundaries or personalities are different. Just like when some fans get mad at Ethel or other exuberant fans because Clay gives them attention. We are all different, and one isn't better than the other. If something crosses your boundaries, then don't do it, it's as simple as that. BFS did us a favor by posting her report, which I enjoyed reading, and it bothers me to see other fans criticizing her because she did something that they wouldn't.
  20. kf, I was going to mention jmh's avi too. I love that picture. He looks so young and sweet. I am so happy for him. He deserves all the good things that are happening to him now. It still amazes me that I can care so much for someone's happiness that I don't really know personally. He's a part of my life, and I am so grateful that he is.
  21. You have such a way with words. As far as some of the pickier ones go, I just feel that they get attacked for expressing their feelings, and I do have some Clay friends who don't like everything he has done, and are worried that they won't like his new cd. I don't want them to feel bad if they come here and say that they are worried. I like them anyway, and I hope that they will enjoy the new cd as much as I will.
  22. I'm not trying to be argumentative but I do think it's unfair to discount others feelings about the cd or direction of Clay's career, or hair styles, or anything else. Some of the people who are on the wait and see boat belong to this board, and they shouldn't feel like they can't express that here. I know I'm going to love the cd because I love everything Clay sings. I also love pretty much everything about him, except as I said at the CV, I'm not a fan of the skinny ankles. However, if someone else doesn't feel that way, they should be able to say so. Sometimes it will get on my nerves, depending on how they state it. Other times they will make me laugh, but they have a right to state their opinion as much as the rest of us do. Sorry for getting on a soapbox, but I don't want fans to feel like they are going to get busted on because they don't like something or are worrying about whether they will like it. Now if they get all dramatic and say that it's a mistake and it's the end of Clay's career, blah, blah, blah, then I may have to slap them.
  23. Well some of those people who are probably not going to be happy about this are friends of mine. And yes, I am going to pick on them mercilessly, but I also think their viewpoint is just as valid as mine. This fandom is made up of people who enjoy very diverse musical tastes, so for some of them, I do feel bad that they may be disappointed. Now for others, I get a kind of perverse pleasure in reading their reactions because it is so predictable, and if they are disappointed, then I'll admit, it's an added benefit.
  24. I was reading at some of the other sites as well, and the one I expected is the one doing most of the bitching. Unfortunately, they also post on other boards so I have to read it at least twice. I just hope that this cd sells boatloads, like Susan Boyle's cd did. Although I didn't buy her cd because her voice gets a little boring to me after about the first 30 seconds, I do think she has a good voice. And apparently there is a large market out there of people who are tired of the current pop sound out there. I know I'm sick of seeing these people who couldn't sing well enough to get on AI being all over the radio. I'll admit there are good singers out there too but the ones that I have seen promoted everywhere are definitely not for me. As far as classics, there is a wide variety of songs out there that I love, including UM, which are far from boring. And from what I've been reading about the people who have been working on this cd, I don't see Clay just singing retreads of the old songs. He didn't do it on AI or on ATDW's so I see no reason why he would do that on this cd. I just cannot wait to hear what is on the cd and what it sounds like.
  25. Well I share your excitement Kim, but I'm waiting for the posts from people who already will have determined that they hate it because it says classic or romantic songs. They are probably the same ones who had a cow when he sang MR and MEAY at the gala. I just can't wait to hear more information and a sample of new music. Gotta tell ya, Decca is doing a damn fine job of building up my interest. Did we ever hear anything from RCA beforehand, or for that matter, afterwards, about anything Clay was doing? I think I already love Decca, and I know I love that Clay Aiken fella.
