  1. But what if Clay didn;t want the pin making to stop, its just the use of his copyrighted material that they wanted stopped...that does not mean all the pins have to stop. If he wanted it to really stop there is the OFC where he can announce it. or even contact the board admins or even the pin gallery. Besides...he really cannot stop us from making pins and trading as long as we follow the copyright rules. He knew about this for a long time...if he wanted it stopped we would;ve heard sooner. The C&D was to one pin maker not to all the fandom. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with Ansa......whoever the whistleblower is, they pretty much FORCED the attornies to act. The designer who got the C&D order used Clay's full name in a lot of her designs. That is a flat out copyright infringement. there was no way for her to say - it's not about Clay Aiken.
  2. I am so glad to see an open and non-threatening discussion about this. I have reposted the Desperate Clayfans image in the new pins thread. I see that it was mentioned that using Clayfans would be okay, being the chicken that I am, I'd rather find another clever way to get the same idea across without using Clay's name. I hope to get some comments and suggestions!! Thanks Ansa and Couch Tomato for keeping this "hobby" alive for us here at FCA!!
  3. cameocat......I have decided to put off the production on the "Desperate Clayfans" pin util next year. But If I get permission to use the beautiful picture of Clay on the page before this one......that will definitely get done this year.......as it is themed around Clay's Christmas program.
  4. cameocat....I think you did a wonderful job on the "Tips" to pin designers/creators. It is a great starting point for anyone interested in entering the "fun"!! Have we determined anything about screen caps? Or foreign press photos? I have started working on a pin using a sketch based on one of the Banda Aceh photos. I believe the picture has been shown on many of the entertainment shows and on a foreign website when Clay was there. Its from one of the pictures of Clay with the kids (but only Clay is used in the sketch). I will not be selling this pin, but using it as a trade only pin. Your thoughts?? This was posted at the Clayboard by alliicat....... about "fair use" of a work
  5. I've worked with both, and have been happy with the products I received from both. I had shipping "issues" with the first pin I did with each of them.....and both were great at resolving the problem promptly. Pin Pros gives an extra 5% discount to designers doing Clay pins. I've become friends with Margi and appreciate that she is a Claymate.....Jeff (to me) is just a businessman.....So, I've been giving my business to Pin Pros. I would like to add.....on a slightly different topic.....that I would probably never do a photo dome pin again.
  6. I've attached customs labels to all of the envelopes I have shipped outside of the US. I just print up an extra set of labels for those and attach them - there doesn't seem to be a lot of them and I'd rather be safe than sorry!! I have received many trades from other countries that did not have customs tags on them, though.

  8. More info regarding available Pin Makers...... www.PinPros.com is offering a 5% additional discount to Clayfans having their pins made through this vendor. The contact person is Margi@pinpros.com (she's a Claymate!) And, their prices are a bit less expensive than Pin Promotions at regular prices to begin with. just thought I'd b=pass that along. Thanks Soapyjeans for sending me their way!
  9. I am happy that we have sold 198 of the Trick or Treat pins since Wednesday (giving us about a $500 donation to UNICEF right now), but we sold 750 of the original TTC pins in the blink of an eye. Have the requests been slowing down for the new pins, or is it just this pin? Which I think is just adorable - the subtle details Soapyjeans included are awesome....the sneakers with pink shoelaces, the spiky hair on the Star holding the mic, etc.
