  1. FromClaygary...you and I are not always on the same page, but I was in danger of breaking my neck from nodding so violently while reading your 'rant'....All I can say is.: All the staff at my workplace are going together to an Oakland A's game today...gonna tailgate first and then just vegetate at the ballpark. Nice day, huh? My older daughter graduates high school tomorrow. Un.freak.ing.real.
  2. Oh, man....I'm getting bad, keepingfaith....And of course, since my mom has Alzheimer's, every time I have a brain fart like that I get paranoid that my lucid years are numbered.... :o
  3. Oooh! I was there! Is that where I first met you, kf? When we walked through the Houston tunnels getting lost on our way to Jones Hall and some nice guy showed us the way, walking almost the whole way there with us? Were you with that group of hot babes? ETA: Wait! We'd met first at Frisco, right?
  4. I need KAndre's address. I was perusing a used book/cd store the other day and happened upon a book entitled.... "Kiss My Tiara!" I'll send it to you after I finish reading it, 'kay, KAndre?
  5. Not sure which border, though. Pretty sure Canadian. Yeah, and I'm pretty sure that they go both ways, too.
  6. That's terrific, smitten! You should be proud of yourself...
  7. 00lsee, my sister in smut...how I love thee. I hope you have a HAWT birthday and lots of opportunity to incorporate smut into your life! .... jumpingjacks...Old? OLD? We'll have none of that talk here! Have a wonderful day!
  8. And I'm sure Clay would love to come, too, KarenEh...
  9. Oooh, canfly! That gorgeous, fluffy kitty in your post some pages back? Looks JUST like my sweet Cinnamon of many years ago....I watched her being born---she had NO siblings, which evidently is rather unusual. She was sooooo sweet and pretty. I miss her. Gaaaaa....three days of softball this past weekend, 3 games per day.... and yesterday was Carrie's 14th birthday. Holyshit.
  10. The "shut up and sing" was said in jest....nobody's telling Clay to shut up. It's an expression meaning...Alrighty then, Clay! Thanks for your opinion! Now...when are ya gonna sing to meeeeeeeeeeeee? Good God. My comment was to Clay's seeming PERSONAL assessment of a guy he's never met, based on his happening to listen to him sing one song. Nobody's going to tell Clay to shut up and shouldn't. First cindilu (and Claymatron), who are these "so many people" of whom you speak? Me (that's one)? My friend that I alluded to (that's two)? Seems to me that you've grabbed the 'shut up' from my post (did you read the whole thing?) and gotten back on a horse that I was wrong to think had been put to pasture. This part of your post I DO agree with: Can't say I didn't give it the ole' college try, though. See ya, folks.
  11. I agree with everything Clay said about the SHOW and the role of the judges. I'm pretty disappointed at the way he formed an opinion of Adam based on the one song he just 'happened' to tune in to hear (Hell, even Simon had a WTF after "Ring of Fire"!)...I'd like to ask Clay if he'd appreciate someone coming up with pretty harsh descriptive adjectives about him and his singing if they'd only 'happened' to see and hear a YouTube of his Waukegan "All Is Well". It's fine to conclude that Adam's STYLE might not be his cuppa after just one exposure, but to make any assessments of whether he is 'nice' or 'arrogant' or other strong character markers from how the SHOW pimped him is...well, to me it's rather like judging without knowing---sorta what he's said he was often the victim of growing up (and even now as an adult). And even though Clay included the 'appropriate' qualifiers about his having not really seen the show, I still find his personal jabs at Adam disappointing (Are we sure the Fake Clay didn't find a way to infiltrate the blog at some points?). If he wanted to make sure we know the NE story is bullshit, then why not just say that. No need to go into character criticism of a man he's never even met. I'm close to agreeing with a friend who elsewhere said, "Thanks for your candor, Clay. Now shut up and sing, 'kay?"
  12. Ah, thanks, 00lsee...:blowkiss A few questions: 1. Evidently, AI really liked Clay's surprise in AI5. Since Kara basically did the same thing tonight, surprising bikini girl. WTF? 2. Danny Gokey couldn't find a DIFFERENT Lionel Richie song other than "Hello" to sing? Didn't somebody already sing the shit out of that in Season 2? 3. "All Night Long" as a group number with Lionel? Didn't a different group already do that song in Season 2? Do I detect a theme here, folks? I agree that the media treatment of this outcome is predictable. And so very unnecessary. Both of these guys have a bright future. Hell, the guy from Queen almost signed Adam on stage, for crying out loud! I think both Kris and Adam seem like good guys, so I wish them both the best. Too bad they can't just enjoy the success right away. Instead, no doubt we'll be bombarded by the pundits' analyses of why Adam did NOT win more than of why Kris DID win. And yeah---also no doubt there will be asshats who'll bring up the sexuality card and then inevitably bring in Clay's name. Two runners-up; two homosexuals. Bill O'Reilly is probably orgasmic with glee.
  13. 00lsee, what did you mean about Clay's name being front and center?
  14. Yep...and I bet Clay has a spring in his step, too, for "Gay" Parieee...And you may "reed" anything you like into that.... Heh...I CMSU.
  15. Oh darn. I missed the AI finale. I was busy at an outdoor concert with a bunch of Parrot Heads. Lemme tell ya that I don't ever wanna hear another denigrating word about Clay Aiken fans. Whoa, mama! There were people of all ages at the Jimmy Buffet with various parrot headgear, mulit-floral 'island' shirts, grass skirts and MORE! CMSU! Jimmy was great...but from his first appearance on stage I was struck by his current uncanny resemblance to Joe Biden. From that moment life was an ongoing example of cognitive dissonance as I sat there watching our country's vice president talking about "wasting away in Margueritaville". Place was packed and there was lots of singing along from the audience, who seemed to know every word of every song. I didn't, since I never bought a Jimmy Buffet record so only knew the ones that are his 'trademark' songs among the casual listener. So it was interesting for me to watch the crowd--his real fans who obviously had been fans for decades---get into the experience. Most of the band members looked like somebody's grandpas---CMSU! For me, other than the expected songs that I DID know, the others sounded very much the same. (Which might be some people's assessment of a Clay Aiken concert if she isn't a fan already, I guess.) But Jimmy's a fun concert--he's always upbeat and seems to really, really be having fun. Is there ANYone out there who doesn't think that Adam Lambert is going to be crowned the next AI? Oh, yeah...I forgot. We need to generate some question as to the REAL winner...okay, let's have the votes be real, real close, 'kay? Oh, I know! :pickme: Let's have Adam come in second, so then when he sells gazillions of records and is an INTERnational star, AI can say that OBVIOUSLY he should've taken the trophy. or whatever. meh. But it was fun getting out and doing something different with the hubby last night.
  16. Answer: Hot Paradise is in Clay's pocket. God, kf, me too! I thought I must be flashbacking (is SO a word) when I heard that haunting tune and saw it connected to a freakin' commercial!
  17. Karen, I just read "Sally's" story and Holy shit, what a hoot! Which, of course, is easy for me to say since I was not the one encountering the disappointed trick at the door! I am forever an admirer of your ability to roll with the punches of such a mobile life! And PLEASE tell me you kept the heart!
  18. I have no real investment in either Carrie or Kellie, but in my opinion the comparison between them ends at the "They're both blondes." stage. Carrie Underwood can SING. She has a very beautiful voice, although sometimes it's disguised in the 'country thang'...I have YET to hear Kellie sing an entire song on AI and stay on pitch. Can't say anything about the studio recorded versions, of course, but it's the live performances that tell me about talent. I'm going to see Jimmy Buffett tonight! A business contact gave me and hubby tickets...(good thing, too, since on the ticket the price is $130!!!!! WTF?) Should be fun...we'll be surrounded by a bunch of ole' duffers. Wait. I already am.
  19. I wonder if Clay is the only or among the very few Idol celebrities who have NOT attached themselves to any commercial products. That endorsement income is huge. I remember some years back reading something about the breakdown of Tiger Woods' revenue and the $$$ he made from playing golf paled in comparison to the $$ he was raking in from all his endorsements of products--Nike, et al. Got Milk? maybe... wait. yikes. maybe not....
  20. djs...I FLOVE Linda Ronstadt! Gawd, in the 70's and 80's I was totally a fan--had all her music and even sang a lot of it during my stint as a nightclub singer! I think her voice is so versatile and she's proven her true talent by doing so many different things---opera, country, Mexican folk, Nelson Riddle orchestral standards and such a great pop voice. Saw her in concert back in the late 70's and when she sang Desperado--half of it acappella--in a huge outdoor venue? Holy shit, you could hear a pin drop among the throng of thousands. I like Kelly and like a lot of her songs, but I'm with you on the 'heavy breather' thing. Drives me nuts (and is a characteristic of Adam Lambert that detracts from his talent, for me)...but the girl can SANG! OMG...I just on a whim bought Sly & the Family Stone's Greatest Hits album from iTunes, and "I Wanna Take Ya Higher" is playing now! WHAT MEMORIES THIS BRINGS BACK! :RandomSmiley: :club0: :all_coholic: :09: :04:
  21. SOOOOO agree with this, kf! There have definitely been some songs that I though Adam really rocked, but GAWD, I thought the two songs he did last week were the pits. And even my husband was blown away by the pimping after each performance. Gotta say that the judges' sucking up to Adam, especially these last weeks, reminds me of how they were uber-pimping Ruben near the end. Ruben could do NO wrong, even though his voice was showing strain and he wasn't in top form in a number of his performances. But the machinery was in full throttle by then... (an aside: I was in the grocery store and heard "Flying Without Wings"...I really do love Ruben's voice.) Anyhoo...oh! I forgot. djs, your comparison of Buble to Jack Jones was spot on! CMSU! Because I've been trying to understand how exactly to describe my reaction to Buble. Nice voice, seems like a pleasant sort of guy...but... meh--sorta like a muted copy of an original.... Yep, Jack Jones, it is! Saw Star Trek today. WOW! Hubby and I LOVED it! The characterizations were perfect, IMO---very, very cool.
  22. I've always entertained the possibility that Clay was gay...but it never stopped me from my fantasies, fo' sho'. Anyhoo...we actually had to bring in the fan from the garage and..(GULP!) turn it ON here in the SF Bay Area today...and it's supposed to be even hotter tomorrow. Of course, this news is most likely a kick in the nuts for those who regularly MUST live with air conditioning. We don't even have AC in our house! I think hubby and I are going to the movies tomorrow to beat the heat... It's weird without my Carrie in the house. She's on a school trip to Wash. DC and won't be back for a week... And an era ended today when my older daughter, Alex, played her last soccer game for the team she's been with forever. She started playing when she was 6 years old...not with THIS group of girls, but with some who ended up on this team with her a few years back. They're all off to college in the fall.... Have a great weekend, everybody!
