  1. Wow. Those new pictures are... uh... *gasp*... humina humina humina. Thanks couchie for the originals and thanks sapphire for the wallpaper. Those are some tight pants, y'all. He is seriously hot.

  4. Hee, Skatejoy... great translation and right on the money... ;-) Yeah, seriously... I have a feeling the questions that they pick will be the following: 1) Did you see the card? 2) OMG, ClayEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, I love U!!!11!!!1! Do u hav a grilfriend?!1? Will u marry me!?!?! 3) Do you still talk to Ruben? 4) Is Simon really THAT mean? 5) Do you think Corey Clark really nailed Paula Abdul? 6) Why do you hate LA, you ungrateful bastard?* 7) Where the hell is your next album?** 8) What is your favourite colour? 9) What do you mean you won't tell me? I think I need to be invited to this cynicism and beer party... ;-) *(for the record, I don't see anything wrong with his comment about LA since it was pretty clear to me that he was referring to the entertainment industry - and yes, I work in television myself and know that not everyone is like that - I'm certainly not - but there are a fair share of sleazy types in showbiz that have made me jaded as well... but if you've been reading the boards, you know other people do and will send him this question) **(also for the record, I'm mildly disappointed that the album is going to take longer, but in the grand scheme of things, I'll live... so take your time, Clay... I'll be there to buy it when it comes out)
  5. Not to mention that if Jim Verraros is in it, I won't buy it on principle. Hate that asshole. I have a full set of AI2 DVDs made for me by a friend anyways... also, I don't have a burning desire to give 19E anymore money for very limited Clay (that I probably already have)... ;-)
  6. Someone talked to Diane Bubel - here's her take on the situation (from clz4clay at Clayboard): Diane rules. Love this post.

    Hockey

Oh good God, NO! As I explained above, I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination... I'm not even a novice! I just put this topic in here for the sake of having one topic in this forum at all... ;-)

    Hockey

I just thought of adding this topic last night because I was listening to the news and they were talking about how hockey is coming back and the agreements are all signed and stuff... plus we had no topics in the Sports forum and it looked lonely... Honestly though, I know nothing about sports... the only thing I pay attention to even remotely is hockey and even then, I don't get that into it... I just sort of keep track of who is winning and then I laugh at my Toronto co-workers when Ottawa is beating the Leafs... As for the penalty box? Yeah, that's when somebody does something illegal in the game (although I'm not sure what counts as illegal) and then they have to go sit there for a pre-determined amount of time (not sure how long penalties are) and then they can go back and play the game when the time is up... see - I'm not much help! ;-)
  10. Can I ask what is probably a really stupid question? What on earth is a disposable digital camera? I didn't even realize such a thing existed... I've used disposable film cameras (800 speed) before and they were useless - they took pictures of the people's heads in front of me and Clay was about 1 inch tall (even from the 3rd row)... so I gave up taking pictures a while ago... but I had no idea there were disposables that had a zoom or were digital... what are these things? And how much do they cost?

    Hockey

Sens rule! ;-) I am originally from Ottawa, so I am prejudiced... I thought since hockey is coming back, we should have a hockey topic... nothing much is going on right now though, I don't think... the Sports Forum just seemed so empty so I added a topic...
  12. I too was wondering why the thread came to a screeching halt... hee. Heidi - that is a very good question... I don't really have an answer since when I was in college, the internet had JUST started to really take off (1996)... I am still used to actually having to find a legitimate source in the LIBRARY or the real world to prove my point... go figure. I do find it sickening that these supposedly legitimate news sources can just copy something from some less-than-reputable source and call it news... that SHOULD be considered libel, IMO... but I guess I have higher standards than most "news sources" these days... *sigh*
  13. Can you believe that I still haven't listened to the second CD of the LTS audio book? I listened to the first one and was reading along with the book to see which parts he skipped over and then somehow, I got busy and never got around to listening to the second one... maybe I should get on that... I am a bad fan! ;-) I love love love Clay's speaking voice (I think his accent is so cute), so I really enjoyed him reading the book to me (of what I've listened to so far... lol) Other than LTS, I don't think I've ever listened to an audiobook before... so I'll let you all get back to your conversation... ;-)
  14. I posted some song wishes on Best of Clay a while ago... here's my list: 1950's - Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me, Dream Lover, Unchained Melody, In the Still of the Night, Put Your Head on My Shoulder 1960's - The Way You Look Tonight, Roses are Red by Bobby Vinton, When a Man Loves a Woman, Mrs. Robinson (not really, but wouldn't that be funny? ) 1970's - Superstition by Stevie Wonder (I think he'd do an interesting version of this), Some Kind of Wonderful 1980's - anything by Billy Joel, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic by The Police, Broken Wings by Mr. Mister, Higher Love by Steve Winwood, 1990's - Can't Stop This Thing We Started by Bryan Adams, Place in This World by Michael W. Smith 2000's - Home by Michael Buble, Feel by Robbie Williams (or is that 1990's?), new songs from his upcoming album!
  15. Unless someone claims responsibility for doing this, we'll never know if that's true actually... If it was disgruntled "fans", then it probably was about some people's obsession with taking down Fran at all costs... and they screwed up badly because nobody gives a rat's patooty about Fran except some fans - the news media and gossip columnists only care about Clay because he gets hits and he sells newspapers... so these "fans" screwed Clay bigtime in their attempt to tarnish Fran's reputation... If it was Clay haters who did this though, which it very well could be (and a lot of haters are well aware of Cafe Allegro - which has compiled all of their "concerns" in one neat place for the haters to copy & paste - and believe me, they do), then it was all about taking Clay down... I don't understand why Clay is the target of such intense hatred and vitriol from some of these nutjobs and I don't want to sound like I'm being paranoid, but from reading places like TWOP and KCE and Datalounge, it is quite clear that there are some really scary whackadoos out there that are out to take Clay down at any cost... it freaks me out. I don't know what he ever did to deserve that kind of treatment. As much as I think there are some scary nutty "disgruntled fans", I think there are even scarier nuttier haters that could have done this and the reason I am leaning more towards the haters is because of the precise timing of this story. Right before he's about to kick up the publicity for the tour. Pretty convenient, eh? It just smacks of "planned" to me... on the other hand, the line is so blurred between the "disgruntled fans" and actual haters who always hated Clay that it could've been either... it's hard to decide.
  16. Yes it will. Don't do it! Plug it into the electrical outlet on the wall instead with the plug that came with your iPod. If you hook it up to anybody else's computer with iTunes installed, you'll end up downloading all their songs and you won't be able to get yours back until you go home and plug into your own computer...
  17. That is so true. Knowing the right person at the right time is key (and that "everything happens for a reason" thing is also very true). I know that for me, I happened to get the exact right job right out of college (my professor referred me). It enabled me to meet someone who was able to get me my next job who passed me on to their friend for the next job and so on and so on and so on... I didn't have to show anybody my resume for three years. I just kept getting shared between business associates... of course, that is how it works in the freelance television production world... there are so many desperate wannabes that don't know how to do anything that if you get somebody who is actually good at their job (like me!), then you hang on to them for dear life and you recommend them to all your associates... of course, since I hate freelancing, I eventually opted for a stable 9-5 job - but I never would've been able to get that job without the specific experience I had from all those years of freelancing... However, now that I am getting kicked to the curb (read upthread about my impending layoff), I am starting to wonder what I am qualified for besides television production and administering arts grants (which is what I do currently)... what the heck do you do with a B.A. in Communications? If I remember back to when I graduated from university, you do nothing! ;-) We had a 'counsellor' come in to speak to us when we found out our company was being taken over and my question to him was - what the heck am I qualified for? I really really don't know... I'm not sure I want to stay in television production and I know there aren't any other arts grants administation jobs available for me, so I am out of ideas... I know what my strong skills are - organization, planning events/specific tasks, certain computer programs, customer service, money management to name a few. But how do I apply those skills to another industry - one that I have no experience in? S.O.L. - if you find that place that tells you exactly what you should do, please let me know! ;-)
  18. Yes, that's the problem. Other news agencies are picking up the MSNBC gossip piece now and calling it news! (Do the journalists picking up things from gossip columns and calling it news have no integrity at all?) Something called allnewsheadlines.com (can't remember) reported the gossip item from MSNBC as news. And then Tucker Carlson - some jerk who reports on MSNBC on television (I think - correct me if I'm wrong) just repeated the MSNBC thing as news (I don't know if he's known for gossip - I've never seen his show nor do I know who he is - I've heard that he isn't very credible though) and he added a few gay slams for no apparent reason. (oh thanks, atinal... you explained it better than me) This is getting ridiculous. That was absolutely uncalled for. I hope Tucker Carlson rots in hell along with the person who initiated this whole thing to begin with.
  19. First of all, I'm glad this thread exists... I'm loving the discussion in here so far! Yeah, I thought about this too. People have been fixating on the negative for a long time now (since at least March), so WHY did this story get picked up now specifically when the tour is just about to start? My suspicion is that a hater or a disgruntled "fan" (I can't call whoever did this a fan either) has been planning this and was waiting for the first round of publicity right before the tour started to contact WRAL... I wouldn't put it past them either to have pointed the MSNBC gossip columnist in the right direction too... and, of course, now that MSNBC has completely twisted the story and chopped out all the relevant bits where Clay & BAF come out looking good, that is the story that the OTHER news outlets are picking up - and calling it NEWS when they got it from a gossip column!!! Irresponsible journalism at its worst... it's unbelievable! Seriously. I don't trust journalists at all anymore. The girl that sits in the cubicle next to me at work reads Page Six everyday with her morning coffee and the girl next to that reads US magazine and In Touch all the time. And they believe everything they read. I am constantly reminding them how full of crap those things are. I am especially shocked though that a supposedly serious news outlet like MSNBC would be writing libelous things on their website. It's their fault that the twisted version of the story is being spread all over the country because THEY changed it. Anyway, I'm mad. I hope this goes away as quickly as the Sewell thing, but I'm bracing myself for an even more twisted version to hit the Enquirer or the Globe or the Star any day now. *sigh* I just hope that Clay has some good PR people in his corner. I really feel for him having to deal with stupid crap like this right before his tour starts.
  20. Holy GAAAAHHHH!!!! New pic of Clay on the cable version of the TV Guide *falls over*
  21. Clay was on the radio this morning - someone at Clayboard caught it: Also, I think this is a summary of the Pittsburgh interview from 1pm today (from CH via CV): Another recap of the same from someone at the Clayboard via CH:
  22. Oh okay... just wanted to double check so that we didn't get trolls posting...
  23. Just saw another tech glitch... it appears that guests can post without being registered... I saw an unregistered post in the Pin thread... anyway, that should be turned off so only registered users can post...
