    TAR 8

The TAR 8 contestants are now listed on the CBS.com site. TAR 8 Website First glance, the dad with the 3 son-in-laws and the 4 younger siblings are my picks.
  4. Everyone needs to go check out the OFC site. Our Queen of World Dominion KAndre is today's featured member. In honor of this occassion, I say we all get out and wear our best boa and stillettos. Congrats KAndre!
  5. BWAH! I love this. Have fun in Toledo! We are right behind you with the Indy concert.
  6. Ansa.... your first concert experience should definately be sans camera or video recorder. You'll need at least one hand to hold onto ShelleyC to keep from collapsing. Taking sharp photos with the remaining hand wont be easy, especially when you are swooning. <g> GREAT photos DJ!
  7. Ansa - Take good notes on your trip, cause I think everyone here wants a very long, very detailed recap of your first trip to see Clay in concert. eee! I can't wait to hear from you after the concert. As for reviewers.... First, a big fat pffffttttt to the Washington Post guy. I never understood the need for movie/music/concert reviewers or critics in the first place. It really is only that one person's personal opinion they are spouting off. Do these guys have any real credentials that would make their opinion of a movie/album/concert more valid than anyone elses? I doubt it. Word of mouth from friends, family, and co-workers has more pull on my choices than what some journalist hack critic writes.
  8. I kinda like Clay getting goofy every once in a while. I wasn't at WT, but I think the ice thing would have been fun to watch. Who wouldnt want to have an ice fight with Clay? As for WDC, whether it is sexy one night or goofy the next, I have to say I was a little disappointed in the choice of WDC. I was hoping for something new, not a rehashed song (and dancing) from the IT tour. I love Clay and I enjoy whatever he sings, but I would have preferred something different from the 80s, especially since there was so much great 80s music for him to choose from. ANd thats all I will say about WDC. 9 more days till Indy!!!
  9. Oh wait. My Star Wars analogy doesnt work. If Skate is Luke and Jerome is Darth Vader, then Jerome is Skate's father. :o Jerome: *deep, heavy mechanical breathing* Jerome: Skate. I am your father! Skate: *looking stunned* Skate: Nooooooooooo!
  10. Ah yes, I am proud of grasshopper SkateJoy! Hey, if I am ObiWan, does that make Jerome Darth Vader?
  11. Ummm. So Jerome is there telling everyone that he isnt there and wont be back until JNT2????? Color me confused. And lets keep this info away from Skate....she will be devestated. :o
  12. I appreciate all the kind words about my photos. It was soooo nice to go to a concert and not have to worry about the camera police. As an added bonus for my FCA friends, I have uploaded a few more photos from Darien Lake into the gallery here at FCA. I dont know how to do thumbnails, so your gonna have to go HERE to see them. And just wait, SkateJoy still hasn't posted hers and, oh lordy, does she have some good ones. I think the student has become the master. Oh, and again, please do not directly attach or imbed photos into posts, avatars, or signature lines on any other Clay Aiken board. Links to the FCA gallery are ok.
  13. Buzzie's Darien Lake Photos PLEASE NOTE: Please do not directly attach or imbed photos into posts, avatars, or signature lines on any other Clay Aiken board. Links to the BoC gallery are ok.
  14. I will post these in the recap thread as well, but here is a sample of the over 700 photos I took at Darien Lake. Enjoy! Buzzie's Darien Lake Photos PLEASE NOTE: Please do not directly attach or imbed photos into posts, avatars, or signature lines on any other Clay Aiken board. Links to the BoC gallery are ok.
  15. Oh my Couchie, your doomed then. The Darien Lake Suspicious Minds was 10X better than GMA. The GMA version seemed, I dont know the right word... silly, campy, etc... I started laughing halfway through the GMA version. But at DL, I was blown away with a hawt rockin' Clay in leather singing a sultry, kick-ass version of Suspicious Minds. No comparison! And the concert version of Back for More is also 10X better than the GMA version. Just warning you!
  16. I'm like Shelley in that my recaps generally stink cause I lack any ability to remember all those fine little details, but here it goes..... As for the Darien Lake concert last night. I have been to many, many, many Clay concert and I have to say, this was one of the funnest music-wise I have been to. The concert just rocks from start to finish. Clay did a good job in getting Michael Orland to help him with the arrangements. The 50s and Elvis sets were fantastic and I must say the boy is getting much more comfortable with his dancing. There were lots of hip shakes and very good Elvis moves. He was to-die for on top of that piano. Back for More was incredible live. This was only the 2nd time I had heard the song (watched it on GMA previously) and I think it is gonna be a big hit. The song was better in Darien Lake than GMA and the crowd was pumping their fists and singing along. Great spring/summer windows-open while driving type of song. The slower songs, Solitare, BOTW, and Mandy were stunning. Solitare was better than anytime he sung it during the NAT. I just loved the whole concert and am so glad I am lucky enough to get to see a few more on this tour. I thought half-way through the concert that this was a great idea for Clay to do a tour like this. Build his fan base even greater before his second album. I was also amazed at the number of men in the audience; more than any of Clay's tours previously. And Quiana's I Will Always Love You ended up being one of the highlights of the evening. It was simply amazing and certainly rivals Whitney Houston herself. She got several standing ovations, one of which was lead by one of the men sitting up near the front. There was no security so clack gathering was uninhibited (and a mighty big thankyou to Clay and Co for the change in camera policy - Muah). It may take me a while to go through all the photos I took, but they will be posted soon (I hope). At first glance, Skate and I are very happy with the results. Concerts are always more fun with good friends and btw, never get lost after a concert with ShelleyC, Sapphire, SkateJoy and DJ2001 in your car cause you will be laughing way to much to ever get found again (which we managed to do in the tiny Hamlet of Batavia, NY). And whatever they say about my driving... its all lies. *g* Skate was of course sad not to see Jerome and even sadder to hear the rumor he may be sick. Anyone know where she can deliver a get well card? And Ansa..... I am so happy you finally get to see the Aiken live. It will be an amazing experience!! And yes, the last will & testament will be necessary.
  17. Turn your flash off. Set your ISO to ISO400. You can probably shoot in Auto mode with those settings. I cant really tell you much else cause I change several of my settings depending upon concert lighting. The most important thing for non-flash photography is to set your ISO to 400 or higher.
  18. There goes Skate's plan to get busted by Jerome for taking photos.....
  19. Happy B-day KAndre. I put on my flip-flops of doom and a small amount of bling in your honor. Clay in a bean bag chair.... I think I may combust.
  20. Yeah, I stupidly mentioned to my co-worker that I was flying to Buffalo for the weekend. His response.... "voluntarily?" But I am getting a tiny weensy bit excited for my first concert.
  21. I know way to much about Harry Potter..... Grinwald, I believe, is the dark wizard Dumbledore defeated in the past. It was mentioned in SS when Ron and Harry are reading those chocolate frog cards on the train to Hogwarts. It think it may have been mentioned a time or two elsewhere. They mentioned time-frame in the interview and I am not sure exactly what they were talking about. Dumbledore defeated Grinwald in 1945 which was around the time of WWII. Voldermort killed his dad and grandparents in 1943. Not sure if there is any relationship there or not. The gleam of triumph. This is in Goblet of Fire after Harry comes back from the graveyard. Harry is telling Dumbldore what happened and Harry mentions where they took his blood to bring Voldermort back to life. JKF describes Dumbledore as having a gleam of triumph in his eye when Harry mentions this. No one is quite sure what the gleam means, but suspect it has something to do with using Harry's blood specifically.
  22. Just a quick reply to this. We had no issue at all with any cameras or video at GMA. DonnaAC had this really nice Digital Video recorder there and several folks even had 35mm SLR cameras. Have fun.

    Hockey

From the rule book..... "Butt-ending" shall mean using the end of the shaft of the stick in a jabbing motion. Why didnt they just call it "jabbing" or "poking"?

    Hockey

I'm no hockey expert, but I can google..... From the NHL Rule book..... For a "MINOR PENALTY", any player, other than a goalkeeper, shall be ruled off the ice for two minutes during which time no substitute shall be permitted. For the first "MAJOR PENALTY" in any one game, the offender, except the goalkeeper, shall be ruled off the ice for five minutes during which time no substitute shall be permitted. An automatic fine of one hundred dollars ($100) shall also be added when a major penalty is imposed for any foul causing injury to the face or head of an opponent by means of a stick. For the third major penalty in the same game to the same player, or for a major for butt-ending, cross-checking, high-sticking, slashing or spearing, he shall be ruled off the ice for the balance of the game, but a substitute shall be permitted to replace the player so suspended after five minutes have elapsed. (Major penalty plus game misconduct penalty with automatic fine of two hundred dollars ($200).) Penalties include: Abuse of Officials, Attempt to Injure, Board Checking and Checking from Behind, Charging, Cross-Checking, Elbowing, Kneeing and Head-Butting, High Sticks, Hooking, Slashing, Spearing and Butt-Ending, Tripping, & Unnecessary Roughness. And here is a cute little visual for all the ref signals.
