I too, am glad Clay addressed the chat issue from last night, AND made it known it was him in chat on Friday night, I was seeing many posts that were starting to doubt that he was in chat on Friday, so good for him. It's unfortunate that he was put in the position to apologize for something that was not of his doing.

I am so impressed that he, 1) took the time to apologize for what happened last night (even though it really wasn't his fault) and 2) acknowledged that he had chatted on Friday night, thus setting the record straight and validating that experience for those who participated.

IMHO, he really didn't have to do that. However, I'm delighted that he did.

Well, it is raining, so my raking will stop for today (how much raking? Have 10 hundred plus year old trees on a lawned property (not foresty) and see how much raking you would have to do.

Eeep, must go vote. The problem is that without the song playing and singing the lyrics, it is hard to judge - we should have made people sing these songs.

I think the CH attitude comes from the place of origin - TWOP, the others I really question. How many times can you post at CB that wishing Clive Davis a horrible death violates the TSU - and yet the mods do noting about it.

Now let's talk about ingratitude - newspaper article about donated CDs for the military - OK, so you don't like Clay Aiken - why talk about it as if only 2 people donated the CDs and you are giving it to families. Makes me want to not bring any DVDs to the Red Bank concert to donate to the soldiers. I just am amazed at the rudeness of recipients - hey you didn't say this about the thousands of KC albums donated two years ago. Idiots. I swear, it is nothing against the soldiers, but it is just rude to make assumptions before they even listen to this album. Maybe I am just in a pissy mood because of the general rudeness toward Clay and Clay fans. It is amazing that society condones this behavior of rudeness and that some people call themselves fans and encourage it.

I understand the point that soldiers appreciate the letters - did no one tell them that there is a fan effort for letters as well? - and I understand about gift cards, but there are other ways of making a point.

Hell, yes, Scarlett would smuggle in more - I can just see it more - hours and hours of free rendering without nap-time Nazis....and frankly I agree with you from the CH that he might as well do the strong public key/digital certificate thingy...

HA! Clay can rely on my discretion!

Of course the CB mods do nothing--most of them are True Believers in the conspiracy. As influential people on the largest board, they gave those theories a lot of potency by expressing them loudly and often at the OFC and elsewhere. CH started when they got kicked off TwoP for being too fangirlie, as did the Bo fans a couple of years ago. A lot of the oldtimers think CH is now too nicey-nice. I disagree. I think in the old days there was more clever, funny snark, which is altogether different from posting things like, "I think Clay's a jerk."

Now let's talk about ingratitude - newspaper article about donated CDs for the military - OK, so you don't like Clay Aiken....

Agreed -- I guess it was more important to be cool than to be grateful or accurate.

ETA: I'm very proud of Clay for the award he received last night, and how typically modest of him to simply mention "an event" and say nothing of the award.

So, remember those stages of being part of an internet group? Does anyone know where to find it?

I do think we used to laugh more at ourselves. I think the fandom and Clay has been through so many attacks this year that we were basically impotent to do anything about, that it's almost inevitable that we're back to being in full fight mode for Clay. I feel our energies are misdirected and being wasted but don't really have any answers for that. So we have contests, and gabfests, and just try to stay on an even keel until the fandom settles.

Speaking of which...did you vote yet? heee.

Couchie,I think we used to laugh more period. I'm a longtime lurker at the CH, and I used to read some of the funniest things I'd ever seen over there. I mean they always had some angsty times, but through them, you still got the feeling that they were still fans and having fun. I don't know whether the nastiness earlier in the year just wore some fans down or what, but the tone does seem to be one of cynicism, with a few fans trying to keep things light hearted and supportive of Clay. Let me say, I love what you are doing here and I wish more fans would wake up and be reminded that being a fan should be fun.

Hey that was my 69th post WooHoo!!!! :o

Good Morning, CV! I just wanted to comment on something in Clay's blog. The event he mentioned at UNCC was an alumni event. Clay received the Distinguished Young Alumni Award. UNCC appreciates their graduate!

Tres cool! And it provides a good alibi... HA!

600 members in chat at the hint that Clay was there? I'd say the possibility that Clay ever goes into chat again under his own screen name is as likely as him appearing shirtless in a rap video surrounding by cats....

I clearly remember that smut follows angst. I don't remember what follows ongoing bitterness.

My question is, why didn't Faye call Clay to tell him? Does she not have his phone number?

What if he hadn't checked his email before going to bed?

How did she know about it? Was she hanging out in the OFC chat last night?

If so what is her screen name??

Its ironic, because until I read the transcript f the Friday chat, cynic that I am, I had my doubts that it was really Clay and I made the remark that hackers have been able to get into sites far less secure than the OFC!

I think Faye has people that alert her to things going on in the fandom. This was serious enough that I can understand her contacting him.

bwah!! Well I would have agreed before his blog BUT I think he will be there under conditions slightly less extreme heee. But they should just set up some sort of moderated chat. There's no way he can do it with notice.

So all of these people that think they have been talking to Clay (or so I've heard) has probably been talking to fake wannabes? lol.

Soemthingto think about on a rainy Sunday -

Taylor's release date has been moved to 12/12, as has Fantasia and a third person on the same label (Tyrese).

So if people think that Clay is not going to be getting attention, what are they going to think about Fantasia? I am sure Taylor will geta lot of promotion, butI expect a lot to be lost in the holiday stuff and if his album is notthere when people are shopping, will the Taylor fans start blaming Clive Davis? I would blame 19 for extending the tour a month, but still, getting something out just before the holiday, would mean it falls off after the holiday - Chris should be expected to sell more.

Interesting days ahead in the Ai area fandoms.

Wha?! People online might not actually be who they claim to be? Unbelievable.... :P

==============================================

The delays in Idol and other releases seem to be the rule more than the exception. It sounds like we were lucky to get a date for ATDW that stuck, it you discount the June 20th date that was never officially announced.

I gotta wonder about DAUGHTREY!'s sales potential out of the box. Is his single getting much radio play? According to his schedule on RCA Records, his TV appearances look pretty sparse, with only Regis & Kelly for the week of release. And I realize Amazon numbers aren't the end all and be all, but at least ATDW pretty much remained in the Top 10 all during the pre-order period. Based on the daily tracking demeter does on CV of relevant releases, I've only seen DAUGHTREY! in the Top 10 once or twice.

I don't think that Daughtrey's single is out for Adds just yet. His fans seem concerned - Hmm, maybe this is the new marketing path.

It is funny, I thought I saw him up for a lot more appearances, Leno and the usual. I wonder if appearances are missing from the RCA roster. It seems like everything is McPhee - maybe she is the Whitney back up plan.

ETA - went to his myspace and them the band website - no extra appearances, boy, this really is a popcorn and watch year! And Clay fans complained?

Yup, they are missing stuff- he is on GMA morning concert 11/21.

Ok...this post has nothing to do with the hawt Southern man who took the time to let us know that he's gonna get to the bottom of the travesty that was that asshat hacker on the chat last night. (The only thing I have to say about that is...

GAWD, I love that man.

But I just HAD to show you this...remember when we lost our wonderful doggie for a couple of days? And I told you that Kenny walked into the local grocery store to see a flyer with the dog's picture? Someone had found him and turned him into the animal shelter, we got him back all safe and sound...

Anyway, we just got a new printer/copier/scanner for our home computer, so now I can scan stuff and I wanted to show you the flyer. Imagine how we felt when we saw this! I thought Carrie was going to jump out of her skin and she started crying because she was so happy!

I woke up this morning, and discovered I was dreaming about the FCA...and Clay! For some reason, I was with Clay at a computer, and we were trying to get him on the FCA message board so that he could talk with all you sweet and wonderful people. (I NEVER have smokin' hawt dreams with Clay. I guess I need to read more muski stories before going to bed...

And then? I get on the boards and discover that someone tried to pose as Clay last night at the OFC chat room, and Clay needed to blog because of it. I'd say my premonition sense needs a bit of a tuneup, but could be a lot worse... *g*

Anyway, I'm glad that he blogged to reassure most of the fandom about this incident. Icing on the cake that he confirmed he had been in the chatroom the night before, IMO.

It always amazed me that so many boards would police tone toward other members, but would not police tone toward Clay. People could say truly insulting and offensive things about Clay, things that if, said by a DJ or comedian, would incur the wrath of Clay Nation. Those who react to the statement usually get edited, but the inflammatory comment itself is allowed to remain and the poster herself receives no official chastisement. I never understood why a fan board would permit less respect to be shown to Clay than to board members. I'm not saying that fans shouldn't be allowed to criticize or question Clay. I just don't think it's too much to ask that such comments be made in a more diplomatic manner. It's one thing to say, "That's not my favorite picture of Clay." It's another to say, "That picture makes me want to bleach my eyes out." Yes, it requires a subjective determination. However, every analysis of tone is a subjective determination.

I've almost always thought of it this way: since Clay is the object of our affection, I treat him as if he was a member. His name is almost always in the name of the boards, so I think he's a defacto member. (And at least one board has joked that he has a membership under some silly assumed name...) So, if in my eyes, he's a member, I treat him with as much respect as I do the rest of the members of the board. Probably moreso, actually. I've never understood why others didn't see it this way, but then, I sometimes see things way differently than my husband or my Mom, so my sense can sometimes be skewed.

So, I'm nosy and I googled the calender of activities at UNCC last night. Unless Clay was meeting with his study group at the library, I'd say it was the basketball game. Although I guess he could have gone to the Yoga class or the social and ballroom dancing practice.

;)

STALKER!!! STALKER!!!!

Well, never mind then. Someone else is a STALKER!!! *g*

It's unfortunate that he was put in the position to apologize for something that was not of his doing.

I actually felt badly for him that his night had to end on that note. Here he was, attending a ceremony honoring him (congratulations Clay!), keeping it fairly low key so that only family and immediate friends would be there (you go Clay, keep that privacy!), and was probably feeling pretty good. To come back to his house and find that someone was taking your identity (I suppose you could say AGAIN, *g*) and being a loud, foul-mouthed jerk to your fans, had to put a damper on his feelings.

Couchie,I think we used to laugh more period. I'm a longtime lurker at the CH, and I used to read some of the funniest things I'd ever seen over there. ITA. IMO, being a fan, first and foremost, should be a fun experience. I love getting together with Clay friends and laughing so long, my sides hurt. Or reading a particularly funny post that makes me spit my coffee out with such force that my monitor becomes permanently stained. It doesn't happen much in some of my old haunts anymore...but it does here.

Case in point:

600 members in chat at the hint that Clay was there? I'd say the possibility that Clay ever goes into chat again under his own screen name is as likely as him appearing shirtless in a rap video surrounding by cats....

LOVED this....and I'm watching water drip off my monitor right now.

muski, what a sweet sweet story about your dog. Such a cute doggie!

Cats, eh.

Aw man....I wuv my kitties. They're our kids. But I still like you playbiller. *g*

Yeah, and I got paid back for doing that, too. I was clicking around the UNCC site, and somehow a porn page popped up that I couldn't get rid of. I had to slam my laptop shut and take out the battery to get it to shut off. It was a very unpleasant experience, and I've been running every anti-virus and spyware program I've got since then. Blechh!

Aw....poor bottle You must not have a Mac. ;):P

I'm desperately searching the internet for the best airline deals, the best possible hotel deals, the cheapest this and that...for this Floriday/New York jaunt and I want to scream!

I want to be like Clay and say, "Oh my goodness! I need to go to Paris. Mary! Get me a first class ticket at exactly 9 am from THIS airport only. And please make a reservation at the Ritz. I'll need a driver to pick me up at the airport. Thank you."

And then that's the end. I get my ticket, enjoy the first class service everywhere and have a good time----without worrying that my trip means I won't be able to get that new washing machine after all, even though it's still leaking.

You know?

But then again, Hey! I'm going to New York! And I'm gonna see Clay! And some Clay friends! And spend some super-duper time with my daughter!

Woo Hoo! Life is good.
