Kelly news....

More mentions of her working with that punk bassist.

Several mentions of an article where Simon said he would prefer listening to Kelly than Dylan and Dylan would never have made it to the finals of AI (and sadly, if we're talking singing, I have to agree with him!).

Then there was an article about Kelly and Carrie having several spots on the year end billboard charts. It also pointed out several other Idols were also on the charts:

Several other Idol charted as well, including Clay Aiken, who was 156 on the Album Chart, Bo Bice who was 92, and Taylor and Katharine, who were numbers 1 and 2 respectively on the singles chart. Congratulations to both Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood for all of their success, as well as all of the other Idols who charted!

Why does it sadden me that Bo was higher up on the chart than Clay with an album that had been out over a year and in a year where he was mostly out-of-sight due to his illness?

DAUGHTRY!!!....

Interview with him. Just general stuff about how wonderful he is and how he has sold more than anyone not in the top 2 and how he hates to sing covers - he just wants to sing his own stuff, blah, blah, blah. It is here if you want to read it.

An article from MSNBC that talks about how AI is now getting music cred because of the successes of people like Kelly, Carrie, Fantasia, DAUGHTRY!!! (and his mythical band...) and Kellie Pickler. The closest mention of Clay is here:

There were geeky contestants warbling cheesy ballads, dramatic divas over-singing their way through a song, and it’s panel for judging talent included Paula Abdul.

Enough said.

Of course, this is MSNBC....

Back to DAUGHTRY!!!, the only REAL musician to come out of AI.... There was some article from Malaysia talking about the success of all the Idols, including DAUGHTRY!!!.

There are several blog entries about how the "amazing" video to "Its Not Over" is finally out. If you want to watch it, here is the YouTube link.

And that's about it.

Bravo Will Make Paula Abdul Docu-Series

The Associated Press

Friday, January 12, 2007; 5:35 PM

PASADENA, Calif. -- Straight up, Bravo says it's making a TV series about the life of Paula Abdul. "Hey Paula," set to debut sometime later this year, will follow Abdul, 44, as she films a new season of Fox's "American Idol," works on "Bratz: The Movie" and develops her own perfume and cosmetics line.

la Abdu"It fits the Bravo mandate to show what's going on in the culture of the moment," said Bravo President Lauren Zalaznick.

Paula Abdul arrives at the premiere of "Dreamgirls" in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Dec. 11, 2006. "Hey Paula," a TV series set to debut on the Bravo cable channel sometime later this year, will follow Abdul, 44, as she films a new season of Fox's "American Idol," works on "Bratz: The Movie" and develops her own perfume and cosmetics line. (AP Photo/Matt Sayles) (Matt Sayles - AP)

The pop culture network has hits with "Project Runway" and "Top Chef," and announced Friday that the upcoming fifth season of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" will be its last. It makes a similar docu-series with comic Kathy Griffin, who mocks her life on "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List."

Besides showing the frenzy of life in Hollywood, "Hey Paula" will offer "an intimate glimpse at the real woman behind the headlines," Zalaznick said.

Bravo hasn't decided whether that will include mention of Corey Clark, the 2003 "American Idol" contestant who accused Abdul of coaching him and initiating an affair. Fox, a unit of News Corp., cleared Abdul of any wrongdoing.

"What we want it to be is the current Paula," Zalaznick said. "We're not a biographical or historical channel."

and there is more, can't wait -

Abdul told the New York Post that when contestant Corey Clark claimed they had sex and producers were thinking of kicking her off the show, Cowell is the one who stepped up for her.

Fox later cleared Abdul of doing anything inappropriate.

Abdul said Cowell is like "a big brother or a lover" sometimes, but when he's "annoyed" about something, she gets "the brunt of it."

Meanwhile, TMZ.com is reporting on Abdul's strange behavior during a satellite interview about "American Idol" with the Fox television affiliate in Seattle.

The site said Abdul "slurred and giggled her way through the interview."

Abdul's representative told TMZ that the appearance was "much ado about nothing" "much ado about nothing" and blamed "technical problems with the satellite" transmission that left Abdul "distracted and confused."

John Mayer

News - One fromthe Asbury Park press - a fake letter from Fergie claiming he is dead to her??? Guess they wanted to use his name.

Blogs

1) Mentioned in a personal blog where hey are reviewing his career

2) Mentioned in passing about MacWOrld

3) Mentioned taht he used to give free concerts around the country and that justifies pirating music today - well they were looking for a justification.

4) Mentioned as boyfriend of Jessica in article about Nick Lachey.

Kelly Clarkson - not my person, but saw a Reba ad on TV, looks like it will be a sizable part. In the short scene shown, Kelly was cracking up when their fake Simon was evaluating her performance as a weather girl.

I still have boring celebs. Hope it's okay to summarize.

1) DeCaprio - Mostly about his roles and possibilites for awards. Tis the season. One gossipy item!,* on diva-ish behavior:

While Golden Globe double nominee, Leonardo DiCaprio gladly accepted the free gifts at a Golden Globes gift suite, he refused to pose for the photographs that were reportedly part of the deal.

The incident occurred when the 'Titanic star' was accompanied by his girlfriend, model Bar Refaeli, at the Friars Club in Beverly Hills to support Global Green- an environmental organization that had a booth in the Club.

The idea of the event was to load free gifts, including jewellery, handbags, shoes and barbecues in duffel bags, in return for photographs with the Academy nominated actor that the vendors would use for promoting their products, according to TMZ.

But the star shopped till all the free gifts filled the two duffel bags and declined to stand for the pictures.

...

Note they source TMZ. Okay.

2) Elijah - Happy Feet stuff, LOTR blogs - the usual

3) Lachey - Never anything about his career or work related. Not so far anyway. No, the big thing is that he's not ready to marry his girlfriend. Guess it's not THAT big, as I didn't get any alerts today. But that pretty much wraps up his week.

* Weird. That exclamation isn't mine. It's part of the url and inside the brackets, but it's still showing anyway. What's up with that?

Jennifer: Only one silly blog saying she showed up soiled and ashy at a hollywood event - which the picture by no means proved..she looked smashing....but it got buried in all of her it girl coverage. This week, she was performing at a mansion, having a big bash in NY, and just getting tons of great press.

Fantasia: Mostly tour stuff/ticket info/idol cred

Apologies for not getting in here in the past 3 days. Been busy, so I'm going to be doing some catchup posts here...

18 Bono mentions in the past three days, between blogs and news items. Most fairly random, but here are a few of note.

Would you go to a church service featuring the music of U2? I would, but then I’m a fan, and I’m a semi-regular churchgoer too. Anyway, a church is trying it.

Found a blog called “Quit Blaspheming Yahweh, U2!” While I cannot tell if this blogger is a “fan” or not, it really reminded me of the conflict some had (and maybe still have) with Clay vs. very conservative Christian beliefs. This person is absolutely convinced that Bono is totally preaching the wrong kind of Christianity, and is not taking his teaching from the literal Bible. Me? I’m rolling my eyes.

A quote from Bono in a news article, about what their next album could be like:

“Our band has certainly reached the end of where we’ve been at for the last couple of albums,” the newly dubbed honorary knight said during a BBC Radio interview earlier this week. “I want to see what else we can do with it, take it to the next level; I think that’s what we’ve got to do.”

Asked if that might mean a move away from rock ‘n’ roll, Bono replied, “We’re gonna continue to be a band, but maybe the rock will have to go; maybe the rock has to get a lot harder. But whatever it is, it’s not gonna stay where it is.”

How about a college course entitled, “Theology, Culture, and U2?” Someone is blogging about this experience, with lecture notes and power points. Can’t tell what school it is though. Maybe in 20 years we can hope for a class in Clay Aiken? *g*

_________

Alicia Keyes had 6 blog and news entries. Most are brief about "Smoking Aces" coming out in a week, although one is a mention in an interview with Diana Ross, who would love to mentor her. (My own opinion: Alicia should just step away from Ms. Ross...)

______

Harrison Ford is getting a LOT of attention these days -- 26 mentions over the past three days. Most of them are about him turning down mega moolah to make reprise Han Solo; several are still about his taking on Indiana Jones again. One of those was a very good blog entry, with the possible scenarios; most though are the "he's HOW OLD?!?!?!" type, which makes me sad. The funniest blog entry though, was this one: Wife Force One -- A YouTube movie preview. Too funny, IMO.

I finally started getting some alerts on Tom Cruise.

Many articles on how he is responsible for getting Beckham to the US and will help him become an actor too. I guess in exchange for converting to scientology?

Twin psychics in Canada are predicting another baby for Tom and Katie and then divorce after five years. Like half the country couldn't predict that.

In an article about Bill Mahr accusing Ken Melhman, head of the RNC, of being gay and what the chances are that Melhman could win a slander suit. Mentions Tom winning a slander suit against a gay porn star who accused him of having sex with a man. He won $10 million. The summary was that now a days it is increasing difficult to win a suit of this type because it is not considered an insult to be called gay. Whatever!

Sort of OT, but I just had to research this.

Why does it sadden me that Bo was higher up on the chart than Clay with an album that had been out over a year and in a year where he was mostly out-of-sight due to his illness?

The Real Thing was released December 13, 2005 and has sold a total of 633,746 in the US. Clay's album was released September 19, 2006 and has sold nearly 500,000. Bo sold 227,000 copies in his first week, and 163,000 in his second. That would mean he sold 244,000 in 2006. Clay sold 482,964 in 2006. Obviously this doesn't fit with your stats. I think I might vaguely remember that the Billboard year goes from mid-December to mid-December, so the 2006 chart may include all of Bo's sales of his album, versus 12 weeks of Clay's. Nothing to cry about, IMO.

I've discovered, in the weeks since this project began, that it seems I get approximately 5 entries per celebrity per day. Happenstance? I'm not totally sure at this point...

Anyway, Harrison Ford is still too old to be playing either Indiana Jones OR Han Solo, or else they are random mentions.

Bono is still putting out a book, in a bookstore near you. I did see a cute blog about a U2 concert, 10 years hence, that was actually quite funny.

Alicia Keyes -- the premiere of "Smokin' Aces" was last night, and here are a few pics of her. Man, she looked GOOD. Also, if anyone is familiar with Second Life (a virtual world, online), I guess the company releasing the movie is sponsoring a version of the old college game "Assassin," in Second Life, in order to promote the movie.

Shrug.

I ahve been so remiss on updating on these...

Groban...mostly about his concert coming up...most over the top promo articles.

KAT...a bit more news...

>she will be on Ugly Betty on Feb 8...this got a lot of publicity

>she will also do a guest spot on lonelygirl115... a webbased show that youcan watch on you tube...again lots of article on this

> she was named as one of the top 10 great legs of Hollywood. She came it at #9...Carrie was #7 (I like her legs so much more)

> promo on her sinlge and CD

> lots of AI articel mentions.

>oh and she had her own run in with the paparazzi's sans make up. Unlike poor kelly, Kat's natural beauty was still pretty obvious. She didn;t look frightful...just cute and natural. she even had horn rimmed glasses.

ansa, I have been even more remiss than you because man this is boring...and I like Pierce.

Summary for the last week:

JT: Broke up with Diaz (they're friends, they're not, they're fighting, she's been replaced, he's been replaced, he's back with Britney, he's with Pam Anderson, blah, blah, blah), JT still going out with his mom, he got nominated for a Grammy (which isn't getting half the hits as about his love life); interest in his movie has dropped like a rock.

Pierce: mostly about Bond and his new movie "The Big Bizarro". Lots and lots about both. Occasionally blurbs about how he "gets the babes" and how he doesn't want some gas thingie in his backyard. Though in a blog of the top 10 dectectives of all time (Scooby Doo and the gang were ten), he came in #5. Sherlock Holmes was #1, though.

DAUGHTRY!!!!.....

He'll be on the new Fox syndicated show "The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet" on Monday.

A mention in an article in the NY Times about Simon Fuller when he talks about how you don't even have to win anymore to be successful and he used the example of DAUGHTRY!!!! - the only real rocker they've ever had (I am sure Bo would be happy to hear that...). No Clay mentions, by the way. Only Kelly, Carrie and Jennifer Hudson.

A mention that DAUGHTRY!!!! will be doing a concert in Greensboro March 23rd.

Bunch of blog entries about tour dates and how wonderful his video is.

Oh, and I also noticed "Its Not Over" s #3 on iTunes.

Kelly......

Tons of articles and blogs about the NASCAR deal and one mention in an article relating to Idol.

That's it.
