Ansamcw
So is anyone watching the Grammy's. Came in late but saw the Dixie chicks..they sounded great and looked beautiful and Beyonce...was good. Still kinda compensating for being overshadowed by Jennifer in the vocals department I think...but she didn't do such a bad job with Listen live. But Gah she was gorgeous... ldyjocelyn
And she's now won for Best New Artist too -- very cool for her! Congrats Carrie! I personally think she did a great job singing tonight. It looks to me that she's come a long way in her performing style. Hmmmm...I may have to pick up her album after all. I don't listen to country music on a regular basis, but there are several songs and singers in that genre that I really think are cool. The Dixie Chicks are one of them -- they are the coolest of the cool in my book and I'm very happy that they are winning left and right this evening. Wonderful songwriters, wonderful performers, and I suppose it helps that I like their politics too. *g*
Ansamcw
I know I was really very impressed with the Chicks performance tonight I am very happy for Carrie. She wasn't my favorite her season...but i remember lots of AI fans were dismissing her because she was robotic or pretty pony princess and she is Country...but she made a good album..developed her performance skills...made the right moves...and she is reaping the rewards...good for her. luckiest1
Did no one watch the Grammy's this year? I d/l them last night through torrents and watched the parts that interested me. Loved the Beatles themes, loved the Across the Universe performance. I saw the Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas, and it was really different. And of course, how cool was it to see Ringo, George Martin and Giles Martin accept the award? I thought that it was pretty cool to pair Beyonce with Tina Turner for a duet. Tina sure can still hold her own, for her age. And while I've never been much of a Beyonce fan, she was the perfect choice, IMO. Reminded me a bit of a young Tina. Did anyone else have any favourite parts?
claytonic
My JHud fan-twin just sent me this: Access Hollywood has learned that Jennifer Hudson will sing the Diane Warren-penned ballad, “You Pulled me Through”, from Jennifer’s debut album, at Sunday’s Grammy awards. She’ll hit the stage Saturday night, along with Whitney Houston (maybe they can have an NA sing-off!) and P Diddy to perform at Clive Davis’s big pre-Grammy Gala. And on Friday, she’ll sing at the Grammy Musicares benefit to honor Neil Diamond, along with Coldplay, the Jonas Brothers and the Foo Fighters. Jennifer is nominated for 4 Grammys including Best Female R&B Performance, Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals (with Fantasia), Her single “Spotlight” is nominated for Best R&B Song, and her album Jennifer Hudson is nominated for Best R&B Album. Source: http://mjsbigblog.com/# http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxEj0AQiJ0YYou Pulled Me Through I was in the darkness I was out in the cold Seemed nothing could heal this This hole in my soul You reached out your arms to me Held out your heart to me Pulled me back from the edge Thought I reached the end. When I was drowning When I was so confused You you you pulled me through I was in the shadows Lost, nothing left to lose. You, you, you pulled me through. You gave my faith back Faith was so hard to find You gave me my life back You were my lifeline The love that you gave me Is love that has saved me Your strength is what made me strong You held me and I held on When I was drowning When I was so confused You oh you you pulled me through I was in the shadows Lost, nothing left to lose. You, you, you pulled me through. Out of the dark Into your arms Into the light Your love saved my life When I was drowning When I was so confused You, ooh you, you (pulled me through) (When I was drowning) when I was drowning I was so confused (when I was confused) Yea you ooh you yea you you pulled me through (You pulled me through, you) you, you pulled me throughThis is going to be a very emotional song for her to do, given her recent family tragedy. I hope she really can pull through and truly reclaim her life with purpose. I think her deep faith in God will be her greatest strength and I am so glad she has that to comfort her. (Personally, I don't have that kind of faith but am always glad that it exists for those who need it. Having faith is a good thing as long as it doesn't involve condemning those who have different beliefs.) I hope she wins at least one Grammy or maybe two, especially the duet with Fantasia.
