California 4FER

Recommended Posts

I'll be going to all 4 also. I'm just so excited that we didn't get left out this time around, and 4 concerts in a row is almost to good to be true. I live in San Diego so the Summer Pops and Pala are really close for me.

I'm alsos taying at the Holiday Inn Express for the Indio concert. :TourExcite: :Tour3:

Yay. ok. no hurry. Heh.

I don't think I can do the 4-fer, but I can probably squeeze in the Greek and maybe one more. I'll do my homework while you ship pins and then next week we can come togetha...right now... over Clay.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes anyway....

The Greek

Has anyone else heard rumors or such about a possible taping for dvd or tv at the Greek? I have read some mentions of this on various boards/blogs and such but nothing much about it other than speculation. Has anybody here heard, read anything on this?

I do believe this is wishful speculation.

oh the past few days couchie and I ahve been looking at our itinerary and making sure we have reservations. Now the next thing to settle is what we do between the concerts.

we have some ideas ... and weill probably post them soon to see if others want to join us. We have to check with our other travelling companions who are understandably focused on Texas right now ...EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I think one possible way for the FCAers to meet is simply find a place to eat and meet or by partying after the show. We will be posting the places that we are considering and then take it from there.

With regards to transportation and accomodations I think we can figure that out cos we are willing to share rooms.

OK California fans..... 4 concerts in 4 days...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

This is special for many reasons and I hope to meet as many of you as possible. If you're coming to:

SAN DIEGO

Ansa, CG, and I (maybe Muski) will get into town pretty early, around 9:30 and will rent a car and have the day to do whatever we want. Ansa and I have been having fun exploring San Diego on the net and came up with a few options.

If you're going to be in San Diego and would like to join us for any part of the day - and nothing is in stone and maybe we'll sit around the hotel bar talking up a storm, just PM me to get my cell phone number.

Some options

There's the gaslamp district with shops/galleries and restaurants. Ansa likes The Cheese Shop for brunch. They have breakfast and lunch items. I like Henrys Pub heee but they don't have breakfast. But the areas has lots of places to eat. If there is anyone familiar that can make a recommendation that would be cool as well. I'm thinking we'll be hitting one of these places between 10:30 and 11 if anyone wants to join us.

We could also spend the hours exploring Coronado.

Explore Coronado

or do a harbor tour (1 or 2 hours) and explore the marina area. (maritime museum/tall ships/seaport village etc

We're going to the CH pre concert party at 4:30

PALA

To any Pala attendees. I want to invite you to spend the afternoon with me at Wiens Family Cellars

We're scheduled in for Noon and we can spend a few hours there before heading to Pala. Pala is VERY close to the wineries...less than 30 minutes and my sister in law knows the back roads.

You can explore their website. But it will just be a nice low key gathering. I will bring food. They have a picnic area that we can use. There will be a tour. Wine tastings are $10 and that's optional for those that want to participate. For $10 at Wiens you can have 6 tastes and the glass isa yours.

If you plan to come to Wiens Winery please PM me and let me know. I need to know this so I'll know how much food to bring...and also to alert the winery if the modest group grows beyond the number I gave them. If you just want more info, you can PM me as well.

now 2 more cities to plan!!

I am fast trying to figure out what I am doing... it's all dependent on work schedules and they keep messing with me. But I shall know SOOOOON (original definition). I want to do the 4-fer, but I may only be able to do the weekend...not sure yet.

ETA... thanks Claygasm! I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Are there any extra tix for any of the other shows or should I go a huntin'?

I have tickets for Pala if you need any. They aren't the best, but I have them!

Couchie and Ansa, all sound good to me! Food, wine, friends and Clay - what could be better!!

Can't wait!

California Woo Hoo!!

I'm flying into LAX on th 1st and meeting LB Erin and bonnechance there. We've rented a car and plan to drive to San Diego as soon as we get the car....staying at the Marriott near the venue and have no plans other than the CH party at Joe's Crab Shack. We're meeting Nelle in San Diego, too.

After the concert we're going to drive up to Pala that night and spend the next two nights at the casino hotel. Will probably play a little blackjack and I'll mention the winery tour to the others and see if they want to do that. It sounds like a great idea!

The 4th is the Greek. I might have an extra ticket for that YSRN if you need one. Let me know and I'll confirm that I do right away. We're are holing up at the Renaissance at Hollywood and Highland and are looking for cheap pre-concert eats in area. I bought some sooper expensive parking thing but I still plan to get up to the Greek early, no reason not to have the best sooper expensive parking spot up there, eh? I guess the fact that I have no actual pass to park is freaking me out a little. Apparently my name will be on a clipboard, sheeesh! Scary shit.

So, bonnechance and LB Erin are going back to LAX on the 5th probably via super shuttle while the rest of us mosey on down to Indio. I had a room booked at the Holiday Inn but let it go thinking it might be wiser for us to stay out near LAX that night to avoid the rush hour traffic in the morning. I think one of us is leaving before noon and this concert should be over pretty early if it really does begin at six. I figure there's lots of time to hang out after and I don't mind driving in the wee hours at all. It does mean we don't have a place to go before the show....except some slot machine stool. Okay, that works. Come looking for me if I'm not in my seat on time, ok?

Glad to know we'll be in the same stomping grounds and perhaps we can hook up some time over the four days. I love Suzie and Nelle... know them well due to the no cal connection.

A night driver! I'm impressed! I think I will be mostly avoiding that on this trip!!

OK instead of starting a new thread..just adding YSRN's house as the first stop on the Calif4fer heee.

Pipe in what to do and eat.

Ansa is going to take BART to my house, we'll drive to Muski's. Muski is your SUV available..we'll help out with gas. I was thinking we could leave around 11 from your house. Ansa chime in here but we thought you'd enjoy doing some tourisy things in Santa Cruz first... then we go back to YSRN's and relax and eat and whaver else. We can gril anything from salmon to hotdogs heee. We can either all bring something or pick up stuff in Santa Cruz as part of our travels. I'm easy...hot dogs and burgers is fine with me...so is salmon/salad etc.Thoughts?

First... thanks to those above offering me tickets. I'm afraid I'm all wrapped up in going to NH next week so I'll decide when I come home from there.

Re: Partay at my house on the 29th...

Any particular food preferences? Or aversions?

I thought it would be fun to maybe go into Capitola and stop by Gayle's Bakery for some treats, then go off to Santa Cruz and head out to the wharf for something fresh to grill. Maybe ya'll don't like seafood though -- so we could also pick up hotdogs with lots of condiments (hee!), especially mayo! :)

I can get all the drinks, unless someone has a personal wine preference or something.

*sniff* I really wish you could come too, Claygasm!!

I PM'ed Muski and she said yes to everything which means... we'll get to her house by 11 am or so and start heading your way YSRN. We have a basic idea of what we want to do so we'll just do it heee. YSRN I'll bring the margarita mix!

Ansa, we'll chat about you getting from SF to my BART station. I'll pick you up from there and we'll head to Muski's.

So, if you want to eat somewhere around the Greek, these places come highly recommended, although I haven't been to any of them.

Alcove Cafe & Bakery: http://www.alcovecafe.com/

Purans Restaurant: http://www.puransrestaurant.com/

Vinoteca Farfalla: http://www.vinotecafarfalla.com/

Simply Thai: http://www.simplythaiworld.com/

If you want to eat further afield, we can talk about other options.

Also, I assume you all will be driving from Pala Saturday morning, but if there's anything you want to see while you're in LA, let me know.
