OMG this is all so good!!!

I really do want to do a pin just because we need one for the new year...This board is in existance because of the success of our first pin and I thought it would be cool to have one every year

but I also love the button idea...

how does the store work?

I think if we keep using Clay on the sayings we won;t have legal problems ...we can use DCAT with no problem I think...Same with FCA logo since we are not spelling out his name.

A couple more to consider:

I did Clay in Colorado and we rocked in the Rockies.

I did Clay in Denver and it was a mile high.

Here's my ideas:

1) I think the "2007: The Summer FCA Did Clay" would make a faboo pin for our board.

2) I think buttons for each individual concert would be best for the fans who want representation for their particular shows.

3) I think a generic shirt, with "I did Clay a Thousand Different Ways, and I gave him everything I had..." would be the best bet. (I'd also suggest that "And I've got the credit cards to prove it!" go on the back of the shirt, if that can be done.) I do wonder if that one might cause some legal problems though, because of using the title of the album and one of the song titles. If anyone else thinks the same thing, my second choice would be one of the "I did Clay on the Symphony Tour" phrases.

4) As much as I love all the ideas for phrases, I do believe we need to stick with ones for the concert schedule, this time at least.

5) My third choice for shirt would be to offer the different designs for each city/phrase, and let people make their own shirt.

6) A tote bag would be my idea for the BAF fundraiser. Not sure what phrase yet. Could we get it officially sanctioned from the BAF/Aron?

I agree lydjocelyn..... playbiller you can feel free to remove these. They are ones I did and they are from previous tour cities:

Kansas

I did Clay in Kansas City.....He sang Kansas City here I come, in my ear.

Nebraska (?)

I did Clay in Omaha, and scored a home run.

Oklahoma

I did Clay in Oklahoma in the back of Ford. ( This was the AI2 tour at the Ford Center, so it doesn't count)

You missed the one I did for Tulsa, though, playbiller. Which is alright, because I thought of a different way to word it. Tulsa has lots of oil riggers. They drill for oil there. So I would like something that is a play on words for this. All suggestions welcomed.

Suggestions for Tulsa.

1. I did Clay in Tulsa and it was our time. ( A play on the song "Living on Tulsa Time.")

2. I did Clay in Tulsa and we struck it rich.

3. I did Clay in Tulsa and we struck oil.

I like the idea of the tote bag for the BAF. My preference, though, would be to put this saying on it instead of on a T-Shirt:

I did Clay a Thousand Different Ways, and I gave him Everything I Have. ....And I have the credit card bills to prove it.

I'm still liking the "I Did Clay in ___ and ___" idea for the T-shirts the best. Let everyone choose their own city and saying. Or does that complicate it and make it more expensive to do?

OMG these are great Ideas! some made me laugh so hard!!

what about one that says something like

Airline Tix $$$$

Hotel $$$

clay aiken concert tix $$$$

Doing Clay Aiken in Rochester PRICELESS

or

Quiana did Clay Aiken in Rochester (canandaigua) and all I got was this lousy t shirt..(or pin)

or

So many cools suggestions...I agree ldyJ, that we can have one official t shirt and a pin and a tote bag with as much saying as possible...then for individual cities we can have the buttons cos its easier to have small number of different ones.

We can make all of these available for all and part of the proceeds will go to our BAF fund raiser.

We have to be careful nott o do what Clay is doing for a tote bag for the BAF - I thought it would be neat to order one for myself now for the tour so I have something that is large enough and no flimsy ahem, especially for toting water around in Frisco

Here's my ideas:

1) I think the "2007: The Summer FCA Did Clay" would make a faboo pin for our board.

I love this idea. BUt don't you have to order like 100 pins? Could we get rid of 100 pins?

2) I think buttons for each individual concert would be best for the fans who want representation for their particular shows.

Especially for those who are doing multiples. They would be cheaper than t-shirts, I would assume.

3) I think a generic shirt, with "I did Clay a Thousand Different Ways, and I gave him everything I had..." would be the best bet. (I'd also suggest that "And I've got the credit cards to prove it!" go on the back of the shirt, if that can be done.) If the "A Thousand Different Ways" weren't capitalized I can't imagine there would be legal problems. I doubt he has copyrighted those individual words and if they aren't in caps they wouldn't really be a title. Now, I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV so what do I know, but I can't believe no one can ever use that phrase again without legal problems! As for the "everything I had" part - the song title is actually "Everything I Have" so that should get us off the hook, right (especially again if it weren't in caps)?

And I think the "and I've got the credit card bills to prove it" on the back is a must!

4) As much as I love all the ideas for phrases, I do believe we need to stick with ones for the concert schedule, this time at least.

Absolutely. This whole idea of doing Clay came from his comments on Quiana's blog about this tour.

5) My third choice for shirt would be to offer the different designs for each city/phrase, and let people make their own shirt.

The other thing I thought of, if there would be room on the back of the shirt, would be to put the "I did Clay a thousand different ways" phrase on the front and then on the back, like how they list all the tour stops on the back of the t-shirts, put at the top "I did Clay in..." and then list the tour stops and their phrases. Maybe to save space we could do state phrases like "I did Clay in Texas and it was HOT". Then again, we would have to vote on the phrases etc and that might get too complicated.

How hot and heavy is the pin trade? In the old days, I think 100 pins would have been gone in a flash. Not sure about in today's market. I'd buy at least 3 though, just for myself.

That was my thinking too.

Good points -- I think the capitalization might make all the difference. And duh on the actual song title. One of my favorites on the album, and I still messed that mess up.

And I think the "and I've got the credit card bills to prove it" on the back is a must!

Gives the joke some "timing," IMO.

New idea, one that might be less fun, but would allow people to "customize." How about "I did Clay a thousand different ways" on the front, and then on the back a simple listing of all the tour stops...but with a "check box" in front of each. Then, people could simply take a fabric pen, put a check mark in front of their tour stops, and call it good. As I said, less fun because the phrasing would be gone, but it's just an idea.

thats true...but will he have merchandise this time around???

About the pins...I know we never had trouble selling them before because we price them really low. But that was when we still had the pin gallery at FCA...we will probably put the pin in the front page of FCA website and we will list it with the other pin boards.

We can always gauge the interest before ordering it.

I have no idea. It's out of sight. As soon as it became clear that Clay's people were asserting their authority, as well they should, we weren't going to showcase any "illegal" pins which meant FCA became pretty useless for that function.

We sold 1200 of our first pin, 300 of our last. I don't really worry about 100 if we come up with something. We did really pride ourselves in staying reasonably priced though. But with only 100, the price automatically goes up. They would cost 2.89 each PLUS packaging and shipping. So something to consider. I'll work out the complete numbers if we find a design we like.

to start the ball rolling I have two pin design suggestions...

dcatpin.jpg

dcatpin2.jpg

These are just quick designs I did today...if other people have any other suggestions just post them and we can have a voting for the FCA pin.

ok apparently people can't see the images...thats too strange...

anyway...

I beleive you will easily sell 100 pins once word is out to the other boards and the pin groups that are still in existence.

100 is less expensive to the seller but a pin company will make whatever amount is ordered.

Ansa those look great. I like the green colored one the best. More Summer looking than the black one.

Ok! I gave it some more thought and I agree about the buttons being the way to go. Cheaper if you are attending multiple concerts, plus if you just want to collect them whether you attended that city or not, it is affordable. So I'm in for this idea:

I think buttons for each individual concert would be best for the fans who want representation for their particular shows.

However, I'm like keepingfaith, easy to please. Majority vote always works for me. I just go with the flow.

Also I don't think you would have any problem selling 100 pins. I can foresee that not even being enough, once word gets out.

OMG, I LOVE these suggestions.

I especially like the Symphony ones.......so clever

Count me in on the pins for certain, and whatever you'all come up with I am interested in. Don't know if I can wear an "I did Clay Aiken" shirt......I'm waaaay toooo old to do him. heh.....

I like:

"Nothing could be fina than sweaty Clay in Carolina"

I said I was too old to do him, I didn't say I was too old to think of doing him. :whistling-1: What?
