Another week, another new thread

I believe he will blog by.....

2009!

heh

He may be pasty white, but I love him. Stand back from the bronzer Clay.

Couchie & Co. -- I'll never forget the BBQ during the NAT where a whole bunch of "y'all" (hee) were standing together talking and it made me ridiculously happy for no good reason, I suppose. Just that it was such a rare sight at a fan party. No Ethel, though. I guess it was KAndre, Couchie, Toffee Brown, and berkeley? C-Girl, maybe??

brought this over from last thread. JMH..oh that was ebirdie's pig pickin' party. I lost this photo in the great computer crash of 06 but I think it was me, Toffee Brown, CGirl, Fruit, and SisterLove. KAndre, were you there? Surely I'd remember the bling? heee.

Fruit!! SisterLove!! That's right!! I met them again in Baltimore, JNT. Maybe KAndre wasn't there, or berk. Was PodSoda there? I can't remember. Anyway, it was beautimous.

Thanks for bringing my post over. I was a little lost. :RedGuy:

2009! BWAH! (WAHHH!!) My first post on Main and I get on first page? YAY! There is some good that comes from staying up so late (EDT). :whistling-1:

I'm trying to avoid ruminating about the three amigos tour rumor -- because it is making me very sad. One or two showcase appearances, maybe-- but a whole tour? - Ay Yi Yi-- time is a precious commodity and time spent doing that tour means less time for other wonderful things that Clay could be doing. To self: stop ruminating.

Sometimes I think Clay might think of the collective fanship as yet another mother whose advice and complaints he needs to stubbornly resist/ignore from time to time just for the principle of it.

There is something wrong with the first picture, Stargazer. Something photoshopped. I can never figure out what it is, it just does not look like Clay to me. I wish I could figure it out. I know I will be staring at it too late tonight. But somehow it makes Clay look not very smart and I can't figure out what they changed.

Besides his nose looking too long (atinal), and pointy, his upper lip seems too small, and his eyes look sleepy or sedated in a way that is so unlike his usual luminosity. Plus his shoulders in the pic look more narrow than his real very wide ones. But why would they want to photoshop his pic? He is so gorgeous. Compare this pic stargazer posted in the last thread to her avatar. WOW what a difference!

ETA: further details about the possible photoshop--

Nope. Still trying to figure out if he should run for Senate. I think he'll do very well in politics, if he could figure out a less callo-- more positive way to make announcements.

*waits for aikim's calendar post instead*

Good God! I just realized there's noone around because it's....5:35 AM EDT! WTH do I book these flights at this time of the day? Oh yeah...it's because I gotta go to work when I get there, and I get lost in Halifax in the dark....waah! If you never see me again, someone look in all those windy roads around the McKay bridge in downtown Halifax!

I realize some people will hate this tour idea, some will love it, some will merely tolerate. I really don't mind hearing different thoughts and opinions. I actually enjoy hearing lots of sides to an issue...but I start to bristle when people post as if they KNOW what's best for Clay.

Thing is, you can't live someone else's life for them. You only get your own.

...and with that, I'm off. Good luck finding your way FromClaygary.

Hope Clay blogs soon or makes his own announcement, so peeps can either get busy saving their dollars or get busy burning their O-fficial Clay Aiken fan club card.

I've always thought those photos looked a little...off. As much as I go to pieces at the reclining one (it's the line of his torso...gah!), I could never get over that...off-ness.

We do have fan club cards, don't we? lol Those of us who actually received the fan packs, that is. I wonder where mine is...

Oh. Speaking of something being off....

After doing a quick perusal around the boards this morning, I am left wondering if someone poisoned the koolaid? There seems to be a lot of gagging and puking going on. I just find it so disrespectful. Sure, state your opinion. Not everyone is going to love the idea of a co-headlining tour, and I am ok with that. But for goodness sake, be respectful that these are Clay's friends, and this tour could possibly be his idea too. Note: this is not intended for anyone on this board. This is my haven of sanity. :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Is it wrong that I hope Clay blogs and confirms the tour in a very excited way, ignoring all the rude comments? I saw someone on OFC post wondering how many of the people who are busy being sick and trashing Ruben and Kim will show up in the front rows anyways? I have to wonder the same thing....sometimes this whacked out fandom is sooooo predictable.

The more I think about the idea, the more it appeals to me. I've mentioned it to a few NJU people who I know liked Clay on AI but have not followed him all that much since. They all said that they'd definitely attend if it came to their neck of the woods (which it unfortunately won't since they are all in Canada, but I digress.)

So apparently it is being picked up by Fox News now, and a few other web sites. I hope Clay blogs before the weekend.

Oh, BTW, I love that picture that y'all are picking to pieces. :cryingwlaughter:

Morning FCA!!!

Man, I must be way toooooooo easy (as if most of you didn't know that, HA!). I really, really, really like that People photoshoot, and honestly can't see anything "wrong" with those pictures. I think the hair is great, and while it's not my normal smile pictures that I go ga-ga over, he still looks fantastic to me. *shrug*

luckiest1 -- WORD. I do believe that for all the whining about this supposed tour, the same whiners will be in the front rows. And then, they'll still whine when KLo and Ruben are on stage -- possibly loudly enough that they can hear. That's just not right, IMO -- disrespect like that is incredibly distasteful to me.

I don't normally ask for blogs either, but in this case, I want one too. Then people can decide to go or not without as much handwringing -- and how many can decide to burn that OFC card. *g*

Hi...just wanted to share this with you...I've not caught up here, yet...hope it's not too OT at this point...

Reunited Tour? ...Some thoughts...

Ever since I read of the possibility of Clay, Ruben and Kim touring together a number of thoughts came to mind...

I recall Clay stating how much he enjoyed the time he spent while on AI, he's stayed in touch with Ruben and Kim, and Ruben is his pick to sing at his funeral, he seems to build (and need) a sense of family with some fellow performers - first Ruben and Kim, then Quiana and Angela...

I think this last year, Clay has become even more determined to perform in ways most comfortable for him...and I'm inferring from his most recent tours that the key factor in that is who accompanies him while he travels around the country...folks with whom he has an established bond...

It seems quite possible that if he taped some reflections for AI2 rewind, that he experienced a measure of nostalgia for his times with these two AI companions...

While for my tastes, I've enjoyed Ruben and Kim's singing...and have downloaded some of their tracks, I'm with the rest of the Clay nation...I'd probably not make a point of spending the money and time to go to one of their concerts, yet I did really enjoy them singing together with Clay a great deal...

I'd go to this concert, should it come to pass...I don't know if I'd travel clear across the country to attend it...but, I'd be willing to purchase a ticket and travel a distance to a venue...it is Clay, after all...

I don't know what impact this would actually have on Clay's career...I tend to most agree with Berkeley over at the CH...that such a tour would be most favorable under the auspices of a charitable event...even better produced by Clay's production company

But, one thing comes to mind with all of the angst I've read in the fandom...we've been down this road before...angst over his touring with Kelly, angst over releasing a Christmas CD in advance of a traditional 'sophomore' release, angst over Clay's performing with symphonies...sequential Christmas tours, angst over his 'Christmas musical,' angst over his touring with covers...Jukebox, angst over a covers CD, angst performing again with symphonies...and ONLY "slow" songs...and gee! ...hasn't he managed to make these concert appearances wonderful experiences by and large??

Clay's path to full star recognition has not been at all linear...not even on AI!...and I don't know that it will ever be...however, his mega talent can't be denied...and ultimately I have faith that it will be OK...actually, I believe it will continue to be ever so satisfying...because this man grows at every juncture...he just brings something more ever time he's delivering his glorious vocals to us...and I for one, am along for the journey...

Great post. And WORD. Just about every one of them. :F_05BL17blowkiss:

If Clay's touring, even if it's with company, I'm gonna be there unless some unforseen major something over which I have NO control keeps me away (and warning to the world, Ill be difficult to be around if this happens, would NOT be purdy). I mean, it's Clay touring!!! That alone feeds my happy in a major way!

All I have done for several days is skim to keep up with the topic du jour and others. I really appreciate AAIT's posting this piece at the end of the last thread. My brain and heart have been too involved with "real life" to compose my own, so I will just add a big fat WORD to the thoughts of Clay Harmony and AAIT.

I think Clay is a very smart businessman, superb entertainer, and loyal friend. He, Kim, and Ruben have made beautiful music together, probably some of the best medleys ever on Idol. There are a lot of AI fans who will welcome this news enthusiastically. It's his life and his career, and I'm glad to be along for the ride.

If you have read my blog at the OFC or at Carolina On My Mind, you know I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDMOTHER!!!

Bear with me, as this is somewhat Clay-related, parts of which are not in the blog. :eusa_whistle:

Due to fluctuating blood pressure and protein levels last week, my daughter Jennifer was put in the hospital for complete bed rest and monitoring for the remainder of her pregnancy. Her BP stays down as long as she is on her left side. The original birth date of Oct. 10 now will probably be around the end of September.

Meanwhile, our grandson-to-be is looking good. As of last night, an ultrasound revealed his weight at 5 lbs. 7 ozs., good muscle tone (a whole lot of arm and leg exercising going on!), good diaphragm development (the doc said he's been practicing his breathing exercises). Jen said he even yawned for the camera.

If this little guy takes after our family, he will either be a musician or writing a blog at his earliest convenience. We already know he has has good rhythm.

Sorry I don't have art for this beyond the first ultrasound, but Jen said that every time the baby's picture is taken, the technician raves on and on about his manliness.

"Seriously, Mom, I have what could qualify as 10 baby porn pix," she said. This is the first one as a clickable:

th_Boy.jpg

Clickable

As I wrote in my blog, we appreciate the prayers, thoughtful gifts through the virtual baby showers at Amazon and Wal*Mart, as well as your kind concern while we await the birth of a guy who is certain to be a Clay Aiken fan.

Have a great week, all! :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Sometimes I think Clay might think of the collective fanship as yet another mother whose advice and complaints he needs to stubbornly resist/ignore from time to time just for the principle of it.

Heeee, there is no "collective" opinion, and most emphatically there is no "collective" experience, so I sincerely hope he just does what he wants; I have never liked the word "stubborn" applied when someone just feels like doing what they want with their own life/career. And I doubt Faye tells the world she feels nauseous and will quit being his mom whenever he does something she doesn't agree with!

And, really, some of the more brassily loud and insistently strident advice just reminds me of Carly Fiorina trying to run Hewlett Packard - she didn't have the experience with the computer industry, she was a stellar cell phone saleswoman, and assumed she knew best from a shiny brochure perspective. HP lost stock value, employees lost jobs. She assumed she knew best for everybody else, and that if everybody else didn't agree with her, they were wrong and didn't count.

The concerts/tour/whatever are sounding better to me, it should be fun - and just maybe all the "AI2 was the best year and is the reason ratings are so high now" remarks I have read will really be true, and they will have a nice successful run - while it is certainly not one damn iota of my business what Clay does with his time, this looks like a great, entertaining, thing to do. Unlike Hewlett Packard, I don't own stock in him. I hope the fifty2thirty extrapolation is true, this sounds like an excellent initial project, working with friends, doing what he loves, being in charge, getting the experience.

I like a lot of other musicians, and I do not recall hearing much of anything about the tours from year to year - just read about them when they pass by, is all. So I fail to see how this can be any sort of a "step back" - unless some people still think that reviewers and stupid-assed bloggers can or should be won over. I let go of that a long time ago.

I recently said I loved all the pictures - but I agree with Playbiller - that People picture looks weirdly like a completely different person, his face looks 'shopped or swollen, or both, and I just don't like it.

Yeah, Stevie Wonder just passed through town. Didn't hear a thing about it until the day of the concert. From what I understand the man tours like every 10 years..probably an exaggeration but definitely not twice a year. He's playing arenas but he also mixed in some very small intimate venues. My co-worker saw him at at 1500 seat outdoor winery venue in Sonoma. She was so excited telling me about it the next day. Now imagine going to a SW concert with that catalog of his. He sang no songs from her favorite album. What cracked me up the most is she talked about the time he took to do "comedy" bits..and he could have sang 3 or 4 more songs. heh. But she was sparkling still two days later, kinda like me after a Clay concert.

Hey Caro - sending good vibes to your family.

Only thing to add about this unconfirmed tour so far today is that it's one I can easily drag all my family to if it comes anywhere near me.

:F_05BL17blowkiss: Thanks everybody for the well wishes. I haven't been to other boards to read around. I just don't have it in me to care what other people are feeling or saying. Right now I am only interested in how I am feeling. :cryingwlaughter:

I took no offense at the sane remarks or anything else anybody has said. I realize that the nature of this board is to be a happy positive place to come to, to get way from the OTT angst. That is the only reason I said that I didn't want to post my feelings or thoughts. I do want to say, though, that my feelings about this tour have nothing to do personally against Kim or Ruben. My record on these two people has always been this. I have always said that I feel sorry for all the kids that came off of AI and that I wish them all well and hope they can have a successful career. I think Kim and Ruben are friends with Clay. I think Ruben is a sweetheart but I don't think he sings that well. I think Kim sings very well and in fact I have bought one of her singles. However I have no desire to go see them share a concert with Clay. I don't have a problem with Kim singing in her underwear, personally I think she is too good to do that, but hey I sure don't judge her for it. She can cuss all she wants I don't have a problem with that either, since I can also cuss with the best of them. Anyway. time to get ready for work.

Hopefully Clay will blog but I don't think he will for awhile. :cryingwlaughter: Yes I believe some of the whiners will still go but I also see a lot of people who claim they love Clay unconditionally say they won't.

luckiest1 -- WORD. I do believe that for all the whining about this supposed tour, the same whiners will be in the front rows. And then, they'll still whine when KLo and Ruben are on stage -- possibly loudly enough that they can hear. That's just not right, IMO -- disrespect like that is incredibly distasteful to me.

Double WORD. The folks who whine and complain the loudest often seem to be the ones who attend the most concerts and pay a fortune for broker seats in the front row. My evidence is only anecdotal, of course, but this is my perception.

I, too, find the gagging and puking disrespectful to Clay, Ruben AND KLo. How would Clay fans feel if they visited a message board for the other two AI alumni involved and saw a bunch of folks gagging and puking over the idea of their idol touring with Clay? There would be much gnashing of teeth; I can tell you that!

It doesn't bother me at all that some folks are not crazy about the tour idea. While I love all three artists and would love to see them all in concert, I can certainly understand that some don't think this tour is a very good idea. But I don't understand the intensity of some peoples' anguish and the weeping and wailing. If the tour sounds like a dud to you, why not just skip this one and wait for the next one? It's not a requirement to attend every single tour Clay has.

Until Clay releases a new CD that is supported by his label, I don't see him as able to really carry a tour on his own right now. Unfortunately, he's not really gaining a ton of new fans at the moment, and there will be natural attrition in any fandom. While Ruben and Kim are probably not drawing huge crowds, they are drawing different crowds, and perhaps the nostalgic idea of AI2 redux will draw in some general AI fans, which may lead to Clay gaining some new fans. I am not a career strategist type- I have no interest in telling Clay how to run his career- but even I can see that it is crucial for Clay to build his fanbase back up. Until he gets that next CD out, and unless the CD sees significant label support, it can't hurt for him to tour with some other folks.

Though I am a Clay fan first and foremost, it does bother me to see some attitudes of "Clay is too good to deign to tour with those also-rans, Ruben and Kim." It bothers me because Kim and Ruben are Clay's friends; at least that's the message Clay has given us thus far, and I hate to see fans trash Clay's friends. It also bothers me because I find it hypocritical. Can you just imagine how angry the fans would be if they read the same sentiment about Clay from Kim and Ruben fans? Do unto others, and all... If I were Clay and read the posts about this at the OFC, I would be deeply offended and would probably push the idea just out of spite. And add Carmen to the roster. :medium-smiley-070:

Well shoot...I thought I was all caught up , then realized there was a whole new thread going already!

Oh dear..."Take It Off" video so early in the morning? I have to work, folks. I can't be looking at stuff like that or I'll be lost for the day. (but please post more :))

Well, my Offishul Clay Aiken Membership Card won't burn...it's been bronzed and sits proudly on the mantel next to the kids' baby shoes. And that's where it's staying. I cannot even begin to fathom a situation where I would not want to go see Clay in concert. Hell, they could sandwich him in between Britney and Kanye West and I'd still sit through them just to see Clay.

:F_05BL17blowkiss: Y'all have a great day!

But jeeze, I hope they don't do it in a way that embarasses Clay if the content makes its way to the mainstream - a la that thread that shut down the OFC. That's all I hope for.

Yes I believe some of the whiners will still go but I also see a lot of people who claim they love Clay unconditionally say they won't.

Heh, those people love their version of Clay unconditionally, Real Clay has nothing to do with it. To paraphrase Clay, some people have decided what he should do in order to be cool, thereby making them cool, too.

And yeah, some of the whiners will still show up everywhere he goes, like Zelig.

And I fricking LOVE how this has finally made its tortuous yet inevitable crawl back to Evil Clive Conspiracy Planet - evidently Clay is (theoretically as yet) planning these concerts because Clive/RCA has pulled the next CD already.
