Ugh, I NEED to get to work.

I got great seats, too! Night of my birthday, in March. Now I just need to figure out how to afford the trip.

I "caught up" here, which, for today, means that I just looked at all the pretty pictures posted from Thursday on! What a great few days for pictures and news!

So apparently there are tunics over the tights? Dayyum*&%$# They could have renamed the show Waldo-alot and had a sold-out show every night!

Oh well, maybe next time.

In addition to the show itself, I'm getting all excited about the talk shows Clay will be on in late December and early January to promo Spamalot! He'll no doubt be on Letterman, and GMA (no brainer), and Tyra (of course), but the possibilities of Oprah and Ellen and The View and a big night on the new season of AI. Woo-Hoo!!!

I want an SNL for him -- but he'd have to have a night off to do it -- a Saturday night, so that won't happen ... unless he does it BEFORE the run begins.

I am SO EXCITED!!!! :headbangerf:

ETA: My daughter just called me from DC and she heard the news and she's not.a.fan. I have suggested to her several times in the past that she go see Clay in concert in Baltimore or DC and she's never been interested .... and now she calls to say that she wants to see him in Spamalot and that we'll have to plan a trip. This is a biggie!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Just got second row center tix for January 26. This is the big one, Elizabeth. It will open all the doors for him. I feel so vindicated. All the snobby friends who love Monty Python and hate Clay- I just can't wait to tell THEM!

:cryingwlaughter: :F_05BL17blowkiss: my ass!

Great rhymes here. I'm skipping about like Dieter (I'm happy as a little girl!)

Sir Robin's costume has green in it... it was meant to happen! :cryingwlaughter:

This is just sooo exciting!

I sure hope he does grow his hair... he doesn't like wigs much, so there is a chance! :Thud:

:coolchicken: <--- bwahhh!!!

muski, don't despair not getting to NY yet. I'm working on my school schedule also. If one thing I've learned over the past few years, 'Where there's a Clay, there's a way!'

(hee... do you think he'll grow a full 'stache for the roll?)

Well crap...so much for free room and board and time share and all that. They only have one location in NYC and it's freakin' booked for the next two years.

So on to plan b..which might involve robbing a bank.

couchie...save your ski mask from the CITH shows and put it to good use! :lilredani:

I'm glad you noticed the missing chicken bottle...I thought it was just me....do you think Clay grabbed it for a prop?

Eeeep, couchie. We need a Plan B. :cryingwlaughter:

I looked up the Best Western, which I read elsewhere was "inexpensive" by NYC standards. It's $279 per night for a weeknight in March. Yikes. Does anyone who lives in or near NYC know of any good deals? There are 4 of us.

There are cheaper places in Newark and mass transportation into NY from there. My travel person here at work told me. See what you think.

Ohhhh.... it's high up here!

:Boss: What a great day to be a Clay fan!

Sir Robin in Spamalot! :yahoo:

Then that chatty blog... with a CD mention, even!

And.... I got my first set of tickets for 3/16! One down, how many to go? I'm thinking it should be a monthly event. :whee:

Somehow I managed to work in the midst of it all. Fun times.

My mind is working right away and trying to see if I can get enough points from our Philippine trip to get a free flight to New york in April..I tentatively mentioned it to my daughters and one of them looked at me incredulously and said...you are not seriously planning to go to New York in April???? Oh well...lots of time to work on the family. Now all I need is money ...But right now...I am cool even if I do not get to go...I hope we will be able to get clack.

So what songs do Sir Robin sing??? Does he have a solo???

I was playing with choirs all day, and just read the FANTASTIC blog and the SUPERFANTASTIC news about Spamalot! YESSSSS!!! I called hubby right up, and told him that we are going to NY during spring break week late March. It's a perfect time for just the two of us to go, because we can farm our daughters out to grandparents, and won't have to worry about them getting to school. Maybe it will be an early anniversary celebration - we'll be married 25 years in June next year.

And I'm LOVING all of the positive press Clay is getting out of this! :manynanas::manynanas:

You should have seen me when the Rockies won last night... and I don't even know anyone except Yorvit. LOL!

That was a really cool game, wasn't it? It's nice to see the underdog doing so well. Hopefully the Rockes will keep up the good work when they get to the Series.

Oh the church thing?

I plan to go and enjoy, just like any other Clay show I've attended. I don't feel a need to explain or defend my decision to do that to anyone...so I won't.

:F_05BL17blowkiss:

Cool! Hopefully I'll get to meet you!

:PickMe-1: Me too! Me too! I want to meet you, too!

Oh, I definitely want to meet you, Bookwhore! Shall I yell out your screenname across the church lobby when I first meet you? BWAH!!! :cryingwlaughter:

Not a snowball's chance in hades that I will actually get to see this show, but I am very very happy for him...this part sounds like it is tailor made for him.

So excited for all those that will be able to get to see this live...it should be amazing!

And yay! for the CD being on track and for Clay addressing those concerns...and yay! that we won't have to hear the word "drought" come the day after the Christmas Tour ends!

And good Lord, I hope I don't have to see "Why hasn't he blogged" threads on the OFC in the first few months of 2008!

Yes, a HUGE solo and dance number...plus many other songs where they sing together.

It is really an amazing part for him!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Which song is that? I have to rewatch the movie again...

BTW...Its Tuesday and time for a Banner change...I am hoping we can have cindilu's banner again in the future with a picture of Clay on Spamalot!!!

Anyway...the new banner is created by rcknrllmom...she sent this to me several months ago and it got lost in my PMs. I just found it the other week and I since I love the way Clay is hugging himself here..I chose it for this week...I feel like hugging him myself...so thrilled for him!!!!

David Hyde Pierce in the roll of Sir Robin

You Won't Succeed On Broadway

Also....my oldest just spent 4 nights at the west end YWCA for 75 bucks a night. She said the room was neat, clean and the cafeteria downstairs was very good. Oh, and she had a wonderful view of Central Park out her window. She said she was 8 short blocks from the heart of Broadway.

She said she booked it through Orbitz.com.

Now...don't take all the rooms for April 21st-24th...'kay? Leave me one!

Ohhhh! Gibby! Maybe Mr. Muski and I could go during Spring Break, too---just us two (Alex will be in Spain and we can get Carrie to be a gypsy at somebody's house!) and we could meet up for the show and dinner and drinks together---the four of us! :lilredani:

Wouldn't that be wild and wonderful! :manynanas::drinking34: :EmoticonRingAround:

Then...then.....maybe I could make aNOTHER show where it's FCA Debauchery time! Yeah! Yeah!

Clay Aiken to Make Broadway Debut in Monty Python's Spamalot

By Ernio Hernandez

16 Oct 2007

Clay Aiken joins the cast of Spamalot.

"American Idol" finalist Clay Aiken is scheduled to join the Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning musical Monty Python’s Spamalot in the role of Sir Robin.

Aiken will be making his Broadway debut in the role originated on Broadway by David Hyde Pierce. His stint begins Jan. 18, 2008, and is scheduled to continue through May 4.

"Clay Aiken is amazing beyond that glorious voice. Turns out he is an excellent comic actor and a master of character," said director Mike Nichols in a release. "People will be surprised by his wide ranging talent, since the first impression is of great country charm and a singer to remember. This guy is not only a star, he is a lot more. We are lucky to get him for Spamalot."

Aiken — who was bested by Ruben Studdard during the second season of "American Idol" — has gone on to sell more than 6 million albums, co-author a best selling book ("Learning to Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life") and play six sold-out concert tours. He was a focus of the short-lived Off-Broadway musical Idol: The Musical and has appeared on "Ed," "Saturday Night Live" and "Scrubs."

Monty Python's Spamalot, which celebrated its 1,000th performance Aug. 9, opened at Broadway's Shubert Theatre on March 17, 2005, following previews from Feb. 14.

Mike Nichols ("The Graduate," "Angels in America") directed and Casey Nicholaw (The Drowsy Chaperone) choreographed the show that was inspired by the 1975 feature film comedy "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

The musical tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest from God for the Holy Grail - with a short stop in the dazzling Spam-filled land of Camelot.

Spamalot earned the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and took home honors for direction (Mike Nichols) and one of its stars (Sara Ramirez). The musical still plays on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre and currently enjoys runs in London, Las Vegas and a national tour. An Australian production is slated to play Melbourne in November.

I can so see Clay on that role...great too for soemeone who is self conscious about his dancing. What I can;t imagine is his voice in this role...will he try to have a deep booming voice???

hee I am loving this!!

That solo is hilarious! I can just imagine him practicing and preparing for his audition. I'd think it would have been a hell of an intimidating experience and he pulled it off. Makes me all kind of proud. I'm getting a real kick out of reading everyone's dates.....it's so funny to see them all over the calendar like that. But this isn't bad. There's pretty much something for everyone schedule wise. I wish I could spread my shows out but unless I slip back to New York on my way back to home....I'll be doing the three in row and that's it.

But I could take my mother and my daughter on their first visit to New York sometime late in April, couldn't I? Hmmmmm.......

OMG!!! Someone got me my very own emoticon!
