Wayne was showing him how to swing and move his body. Sharon said it was a sight to behold, lol. He was mostly just fooling around. She said she was close enough to Clay to touch his..shoulder, but wants you all to know that she didn't.

Now...the REAL report:

Clay Aiken's Golf Tournment, Part 2: It's the Clay and Wayne Show!

Former US Open and British Open golfer Wayne Player, son of legend Gary Player, may not have had the career his dad did. But during this morning's golf clinic at Mirasol's "Golfing For Inclusion," he's proven to not only have a heck of a swing, but to be an energetic, theatrical teacher that might make him the Professor Harold Hill of golf ("He's the golfing man, and he gives golfing lessons to the swells in town!")

For about 30 minutes, Wayne gave some pointers on golf, some ruminations on growing up in the light of his father, and made Clay Aiken his second banana. He also demonstrated how to properly aim a swing by not knocking off the head of our good friend and Clay fan Pam Bassett, who he had stand nervously behind him as he swung.

"Do we have her check yet?" Clay joked, as Pam covered her eyes while Wayne swung and hit the ball, as promised, really far and nowhere near Pam's head. Everyone was impressed and Pam was happy to still have a head.

Clay told me a few weeks ago that he's not a good golfer, and Wayne himself joked this morning that he's probably a better singer than Clay is a golfer. But after twisting Clay around during his demonstration like a Stretch Armstrong doll, Wayne says he may have been wrong. I won't bore you with all the golf terms, because I don't know a dang thing about it, but basically Clay hasn't been good at golf because, he says, he's "duck-footed."

And he kinda is. But Wayne switched his feet around and explained that golf is about the right stance and about fighting the natural urge to swing back really wide. Actually, the swing Clay wound up with reminded me of Pilates, where you keep your core solid and strong, rather than swinging around flailing. (And that reminds me of the recent LPGA event I attended with the "Golfing For Pilates" clinic by the ladies from Canyon Ranch. I love me some synergy.)

Wayne also explained to the assembled golfers and spectators, including Clay fan Sharon Kays who's here all the way from the Quad Cities, Illinois area, that a golf swing is not "lethargic" but "an act of violence."

Jigga who?

No, seriously, he says he phrased it that way because the power has to be deliberate and focused. He wasn't advocating slapping people with your clubs when you stink up the golf course. Wayne, who's a charming, charming man, took some time from his golf lesson to explain how having three kids in good health, like son Nicholas, who was sitting nearby, made him consider how important charities like the Bubel-Aiken Foundation are - "They're included," he said of his kids, as opposed to the kids with disabilities who need programs to provide facilities for them.

All this has made me possibly want to take a golf lesson, because I do Pilates and can at least swing my body around right. I might still stink up the joint. But I'll look pretty doing it.

You're welcome! Thanks to eveyone else who's bringing over the fun stuff, too! :F_05BL17blowkiss:

I've been in the situation of having Clay walk towards me. *takes a moment* TM Jemock

The first time was at the buses in Lexington, KY during the NAT. This was at the beginning of the buslines. There weren't all that many of us & he was able to actually stop in front of each of us, look us right in the eyes, say thank you and give a good, strong handshake.....

Where was I?

Ah yes, as he was in front of me, shaking my hand, looking me in the eyes and thanking me, my mind was running amuck. All I could think was, "OMG!!! I'm lost in his eyes!!!" *Wasn't that some corny 80's song, or something?* I think I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. How attractive. It's amazing we made it back to Ohio alive since I was driving/floating.

And now, with that and all this morning's fun running through my mind, I must go to a 2 hour long meeting on "PO & DC limitations and process requirements". Don't y'all wish you could go, too????

Clay Aiken's Golf Tournment: Beginning golfers for inclusion

As I write this, Clay Aiken is standing behind perusing the yogurt and fruit table at Mirasol Country Club, and I am trying not to look behind me because stalking is bad.

OMG, this CMSU!!!! Wonder if Clay told her to say that?

Also, and this is shallow...his hair's looking really great today.

So has anyone called CG about this yet? Plus the "no glasses" look?

It sounds like he looks fabulous. Can't wait for pictures!

There is a new view on right now and they just announced Clay would be on ???? what???

Talk about missing this boards, I really should not have checked the boards -

Never mind they said this month!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! The Spamalot promotion begins! I'll venture a guess that it'll be on either Monday, January 14 (bad day for me to take off) or Monday, January 21 (good day, as I'm off work for MLK day).

from starrgirl at CB:

He was mostly just fooling around.

First he fakes skating, then he fakes golf. Before you know it he'll be faking his win in the 100 yard dash at the Olympics.

She said she was close enough to Clay to touch his..shoulder, but wants you all to know that she didn't.

Guh.

What an exciting day in Clayland!

ATTENTION! ALL CALL TO eHP! I'm working hard to figure out how I can make it to Houston for my conference...almost got it. Am wondering if any of you gals work downtown and would consider letting me bunk with you Monday night after our get together in town and then let me hitch a ride back with you when you go to work Tuesday morning. I'll have a hotel room Sat and Sun night downtown, but the rate jumps big time on Monday night. I'd have my carry-on rolling luggage with me at dinner and then would accept being dropped off in town wherever it's convenient for you Tues. morning (I'll be going to the Convention Center)....

If this is at all possible, please let me know. I'm having to find every single possible way to cut costs in order to make this trip since my workplace will only cover about 1/3 of the total damage to the Muski budget. :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Welcome tinkerbell2! May I call you tink?

I just realized....Leslie Gray Streeter (the blogger for the Palm Beach paper) has written about Clay before....

Here's her review of the Palm Beach show. I loved her last lines:

He is so uncool that he sort of is. And that's a talent.

She also blogged about her experience with the fans, and comparing the experiences with her following Chris Isaak. Click here for the entry and scroll down to August 19.

The Muski Report:

But Wayne Muski switched his feet around and explained that golf sex is about the right stance positions and about fighting the natural urge to swing thrust back forward really wide before your partner is ready. Actually, the swing thrust Clay wound up with reminded me of Pilates a guy I used to have sex with know, where you I keep found your his core solid and strong, rather than swinging around flailing flaccid and useless.

I thought he wasn't going to play golf? Maybe he's just getting the tournament started.

I don't know about the tournament, but the description of him and the image of him standing there sure got ME started!--- long and lean, bending over the tee...focusing....turning his head again and again to 'get a line' on the shot...blonde hair moving with him....arms taut....hands tight around the shaft (muski takes a moment)...long, strong fingers flexing over and over....big feet treading the turf as he shifts his weight, hips swaying as knees bend...maybe---just maybe---tongue flicking out to moisten chapped lips or teeth grasping that tortured bottom pink shell lip in concentration....then...the backswing...

whoa.

Shit muski...you've kilt me dead.

Yeah, when I read that 'solid and strong' line I had to check to see who was writing. Just assumed it was muski.

Why, oh why did I check in here from work? I have a lot to do and now I'm going to be glued here for every little morsel of information that comes through. Can't wait for pictures! Black pants, black shirt, long blonde hair? I could work with that.

Tink, welcome! I think Clay is the 'glue' in many of our lives. I know the joy of him is what's holding me together right now.

Clay Aiken's Golf Tournament, Part 3: You say "Clay," they say "Clayton"

Clay Aiken's Golf Tournment, Part 3: You say "Clay," they say "Clayton"

I've hung out with so-called Claymates before, but the "Golfing For Inclusion" tournament here at Mirasol marks the first time I've ever met actual friends and families of Mr. Clay Aiken.

Or should I say, Clayton. Because they do.

"When he comes home, he's Clayton," explained aunt Dianne Aiken, leaning against the golf cart I was sitting in at the something-or-other hole (you want exact golf terms, call Wayne Player). "He's family, and to other people, he's Clay, but calling him 'Clay' feels like being disrespectful."

Another member of the Clayton team is Aron Hall, director of services for the Bubel-Aiken Foundation and a former co-worker of Aiken's in his pre-"American Idol" days at the YMCA - "When I'm around other people, I try to call him Clay," said Aron, who was driving me around in the golf cart.

(An aside - Back before "Idol," Clay sang at Aron's wedding. How cool is that?)

The golf tournament's been going well, I guess - I've met several participants who are just big golfers and supporters of charity like realtor Susan Kohout, who organizes volunteers at big golf events, and some who are big Clay fans, like our friend Pam, and Chicago's own Michelle Manson, who's gotten involved in the Bubel-Aiken foundation and volunteered for their inclusive summer camp.

It's a beautiful course - a bunch of the houses are Falcon Crest big, for real. (I kept looking around for that freaky-looking falcon to spin his head around, or Lorenzo Lamas emerging from a swimming pool.)

For all the fanciness, Aunt Dianne says this is all a function of the foundation, and that the foundation is who Clay...er, Clayton really is.

"Sure, he can sing. He could always sing," she said. "Everybody has a job. But Clayton is the foundation. He loves this, and I love it. Hopefully, this will give these children an opportunity to go to camp and one day be able to touch our lives."

Up next, hopefully...a chat with Clay himself!

Just as we always suspected, my friends.

As for golf? Hell, we've also always suspected that he knew his way around shafts and balls anyway. This post I'll leave the smutting to ansa :cryingwlaughter:

...clay does not come naturally...
