He never looked better than he did at the AMAs that night!

Gorgeous day here. I might actually have to go out! But first, I see we are re-living the most fun ever - the JBT - through pictures! Here are a few of mine - untagged because I am lazy like that and besides there are so many better out there, who would want to steal mine??

These are from the glorious final show in AC. I love the first one because they all look like they are having so much fun!

I know the last one and the one with Clay and Quiana are a bit out of focus, but they crack me up so I don't care!

Here's a little example (last one, I promise) of how NOT to get up on stage and sing Nessun Dorma. This is from a Pavarotti and Friends TV concert in Italy. This was the finale. You KNOW these people were given the music in advance. They were HOLDING copies of the music, for Pete's sake. And yet they mumbled, sang "Ta da da da da da da" instead of trying to sing the actual words and sort of snickered and shoved each other like boys in the schoolyard. I don't recognize them all, but Bono, Meat Loaf, The Cranberries, ????? were up there all looking foolish. The only exception was Michael Bolton (still with long hair). He had obviously prepared. He obviously took it seriously. He actually did a very creditable job and knocked the final glory note out of the park. I was impressed.

I'm still getting Aretha with that link, Perma.

Oops!! It was the middle of the night and I wanted to go to bed and didn't check the link. Sorry about that. I fixed it, and here's the correct link:

Does anyone recognize the first guy that sings with Pavarotti...the one with the cap and the beard? Anyone??

Ooooo....PICTURES!!!

I'll be back with more, but here's one for "neck" lovers to tide you all over.

CG, those are excellent pics! I enjoyed all of them. He was a combination of sexy and hilarious during that tour! Course, I guess that would describe him just about any time.

Aikim, those links aren't working for me. :(

ETA: Here's a new link (Amazon) - and another one (Target). Hopefully they will work.

Sorry, I just copied it from CV; you might want to go the CH and see if you can get them there...they don't really tell much; just that the item is not available. We just don't know what the item is...movie, soundtrack, book?

Do you think this might be a joke? Because the film called "The Acrobats" is about a dirty nasty joke. If you can stand dirty and nasty you can look it up on youtube. I was curious and did that. I started with one performer and couldn't even watch a minute of it. I can't think of his name, he used to be on Full House. You'd think he does clean humor. not. The premise of the movie is that there is a dirty joke that all comedians tell, but only to other comedians. Penn Teller and some other guy got a lot of comedians to tell this joke on camera and that movie is the result.

I don't think that is a true listing, somehow.

Do you think this might be a joke?

I think that "dirtiest joke ever" comedy film is called The Aristocrats, not The Acrobats, so no worries that it's a bad joke based on that idea.

The only weird thing is the serial number associated with the item, which appears to be unique and definitely has Clay's name on it. But almost all the listings seem to tie back to the original Amazon page, so it could just be a big mistake.

eta: ooops, again... it says "buddies" - well, all right then!

Hey I have an OT question.......

Has anyone ever sewn leather on a heavy duty machine? I found a reasonably-priced one ($450) of a brand called Consew? Has anyone ever heard of these?

Yikes! I read that as "Has anybody seen leather on a heavy duty marine?" - and thought - well! It is a good thing I just now posted a review of The Hulk in the movie thread! Time for some misdirection!

The sewing thing seems kinda anticlimactic, if ya know what I mean, and I think that you do.

I've seen this movie. Totally filthy. Really gross in a lot of sections. And also hysterically funny in many sections. BTW, Bob Saget from Full House? Biggest potty mouth ever.

The only weird thing is the serial number associated with the item, which appears to be unique and definitely has Clay's name on it. But almost all the listings seem to tie back to the original Amazon page, so it could just be a big mistake.

For now, that's what I'm thinking too. It's happened before -- wasn't there supposed to be an audio "book" version of MDYK, "narrated by Clay?" That never happened. It seems that I remember at least one other of these types that's been "posted" and nothing ever came of them.

But of course, I'd love to be wrong, if it means new clack....

Thank you for all the pretty pictures, especially the JBT pictures. I especially want to thank Perma for the NH JBT picture -- the one time he wore his glasses....and I was there. *sigh*

I spent a bunch of time at my church today, waiting for some people. No internet connection, so I watched the few pieces of clack I have downloaded as "road clack" on my laptop. While I loved AMA 2006 Clay greatly (that suit with the vest was AWESOME), I rewatched something that I thought was the best looking Clay Aiken EVAH!:

Rumor #2 for the day from CV:

QUOTE(WinkAtMe @ Jun 21 2008, 04:37 PM) *

Our DS who lives in Colorado called to wish his Dad a happy birthday and then asked to talk to me (as he always does) but had some real news to impart. I know this sounds crazy and maybe it is but he said that the band he enjoys, Widespread Panic, is stopping in LA for a tour stop and that their message boards have a rumor that Clay Aiken is going to stop by to preform a number. I know....crazyface.gif indeed! But, I don't have time to research it but thought it was a fun bit and one that might keep you all busy for a while....laugh.gif ...especially if that Amazon/Acrobats thing comes to a dead end...

Cotton - sorry you have to work! How come everything has to be washed?

Hi, Honies! I'm home!

Saturday is our last 'session' until Tuesday. (I work at Dream Dinners, a "meal assembly plan". Check it out at <dreamdinners.com>, it's a v. cool concept!) and we break down all the work stations, put away all the food products and clean everything from the food bins, measuring spoons right down to the 'reach in' refrigerated cases. It's a "food safety thang"! :)

OMG!

I would so LOVE IT if this turned out to be true!

DS is a huge Widespread fan and this would just Ice My Cake!!! :cryingwlaughter:

DH had dinner ready (I had pulled one of our Dream Dinners, which have handy-dandy cooking instructions in the container. Easy peasy!) and has just left to spend the evening on the casino boat! As he was leaving he said I could "turn Clay on"!

Alrighty, then! Now that I have his permission, let my just give Clay a call!!!

Watching Perma's Nessun Dorma youtube - and Micheal Bolton sounds really good!

Oh, am I behind on UTubing the FCA? Well, if I can't tube the Guadalupe, this is the next best tubing for me.

I love this video from the bottom of my heart, and wouldn't give anything for my DVD of the 2002 tour .... this he did for Linda. (But on the MIA part, I think it's Abe that does it for me. I love to watch him):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abopwVAoGh0

These two videos couldn't be separated by me -- so, here it is, with Linda. (God, I love it and vividly recall this concert in 1976! But, alas, no Abe. Of course, how old was Abe then?):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkAuBGyQVG4...feature=related

ETA: I know nobody cares, but Jimmy McCulloch played a legendary guitar solo for Wings in this one, and he also played lead guitar in another song that was my favorite at a different time and place ... (Call out the instigators, 'cause there's) Something In The Air -- when he was in Thunderclap Newman.

Wheeeeeeee! Loving the last couple of youtubes posted......not often I am having a lazy enough day to just sit and watch. Got back from the local cluncheon a couple of hours ago, it's thundering and lightening so I've disconnected the laptop and letting it run on battery & wireless. :) Maybe I'm Amazed is one of my favourite Macca songs ever. And wow, Abe was really going crazy in that clip! Hee.

Love the cate montage too. There is so much great DCAT/SRHP clack out there to watch. So many funny moments yet to be discovered. I'm enjoying going back and rewatching some venues I haven't seen before.

Those rumours sound pretty far fetched to me, but hey, you never know.........hee, I thought Spamalot sounded far fetched too. :imgtongue:

It's Lorenzo Jovanotti an Italian singer

claytonic, thanks for the links. I watched Britain's got talent u-tubes till 1 am. Love the Signature team. I thought their first audition was hysterical.

As for the Austrian comment, we immigrated to Australia when I was in high school my friends were all concerned because as one of them put it "Isn't that right next door to Russia?" LOL. Australia is on the map now, but back then a lot of people didn't know it existed.

keepingfaith the Wings over America tour would have been amazing. I did finally get to see the Back in the US tour and saw Paul in concert for the first time after 40 years of being a fan. His concert was phenomenal. He didn't disappoint, he sang 40 songs and he was very engaging. A DVD would be great, I do have the CD of this concert and I would highly recommend it.

Okay, google is your friend.

I found a blog from '06 that mentioned Clay in an entry about a Widespread concert.

WP in LA Coventry Music and Phish blog - mentioned that Taylor Hicks had 'come by' and played some harmonica, expected a Clay Aiken sighting but didn't get it.

I seem to remember that people talked about Clay visiting Red Rocks (?) maybe looking at the venue - or he was supposed to visit?

I'm thinking maybe this is where all this is coming from.

Widespread is Southern Rock. Not sure how Clay would fit in with them.

Unless he sang BSB! :cryingwlaughter:

Anyway - it would tha-rill me no end to be able to tell DS that Clay sang with/for/standing next to WP!!!

ETA:

This is weird.

There's a site called NME; first for music news. They have videos posted. If you scroll down, there is the youtube video (aflack's!) of Clay singing BSB!

This is a question for those of you who think the Orlando IWTKWLI is the best one ... and it is great .... and I do love the heartache and pain references and the cute way they were playing in this song .... but have you seen the West Palm Beach version lately? I saw both shows and both were excellent, but for my money, Clay and Angela totally smoked it in WPB. I don't know if this is the best audio quality version on YouTube, but it does it ALL for me (I'm a fool for the finger wigglling come-ons to Angela):

sheiladownunder, the DVD is out there, it's the Back in the U.S. Concert Film. Worth every penny - hell, I'd pay a premium. And I always get a lump when they show the middle-aged man choking back tears during All My Loving.
