Ok, if anyone is interested in laughing, may I suggest downloading this clip from the Asheville DCAT?

070811_Asheville_BanterNotCool&BGB_bearcat_large.wmv at Clack Unlimited or your friendly neighborhood vaults.

When Clay went into his "not cool" schtick, he grabbed for Quiana's hand and got a little more than he bargained for - their facial expressions and the ensuing remarks are verra, verra funny!

Damn wireless.

The discussion about communication is really no longer really a true discussion or give and take. I'm gonna take a guess and say nobody is really open to receiving anything. I would appreciate if one and all could move on to other topics or discuss in PMs without having to have the last word on the subject on the board. These topics are better left generalized because once you get into analysis and sarcasm rules the day there's nowhere to go but downhill.

Now, I need to work straight to midnight so I can enjoy my day tomorrow with the eHP.

ETA I say we bring it up at the next chat... it probably won't be labeled kumbaya like the last one.

Thanks Annabear..I need a laugh.

Cotton, I found the e-mail but can't find the file itself and the download link has expired. What's the extension of the file? (or anything else I can search by, please? thx!)

Hey - sorry, been offline for hours. Cooking kabobs for dinner - DH is going out of town tomorrow.

Broiled fresh SC peaches with vanilla ice cream on top for dessert. Yum!

Are you talking about the Mexico album file?

The original filename was [ UNICEF 2007 Mexico Clay_HolidayPhotoAlbum.pdf ] , according to a friend a CV. But I couldn't find it search - even searching Mexico! I finally found it - stumbled on it, actually. I had the file name as [ Clay_HolidayPhotoAlbum.pdf ].

I'm behind so you may have found this by now! :)

treenuts, I'm in the same car with you on the rumors. In the beginning I actually believed it more than I do now and until Clay addresses it one way or another, I have no clue if its true. Also don't feel that the rumors will affect him all that much in the long run. I just keep going back to the Angelina Jolie case. She has made some weird choices in her life, at least I think some are weird, like the whole blood vial thing for instance. And she has admitted to things that would have destroyed some stars but she doesn't try to justify her decisions to the press or public, and for the most part she seems to have ignored the trash the media/tabloids constantly bring up. But even though I know an awful lot about her, true or not, the things that stick the most to me are her humanitarian efforts and her love of children. Plus whenever I have seen her in interviews, she seems like a really nice and smart woman. Now none of this respect on my part came overnight. It took awhile to overlook the crap and so now, I'm actually more interested in seeing her film work than I was previously, and I think that is how things will wind up being with Clay. Those people who have mainly been exposed to the crap will eventually hear some of the stuff that Clay does and come to respect him and become interested in finding out more about his projects. And since I feel like he is in this business for the long-term, then I feel we will see more and more people realizing how great he really is.

Boy, that was a long paragraph. Hopefully someone here will be able to get to the end of it.

I totally agree. Gone are the days when scandals ruin an artist career as a matter of fact...at times it has helped people get buzz. I believe that Clay's talent and hard work will win out.

Angst in other boards about Clay...part of the pattern. People need to talk about something so they will deconstruct Clay...people don't get their Clay hit...they worry and fret. I just ignore them cos they will never change. I think its some people's way of relieving boredom...or to keep the convo going. Unfortunately boards just get busier when there is some controversy. Its human nature I guess.

Hey, all! :F_05BL17blowkiss:

I missed Clay's second blog when I was in Ottawa this week and I can't find it on the UNICEF site....does someone have a link by any chance?

TIA!!

what's the name of that apple we were waxing poetic about last year..crispy something..honeycrisp? Has anyone found one in the store? I can't find them.

Couchie, apples aren't in season until late September. It is the Honeycrisp...but if you find some, don't eat them now! YUCK!! ICK!!

Because I'm so completely entranced by Clay and what he does, and because I can't predict the future, I have no emotional attachment to any outcome I can imagine about anything in Clay's life. He likes to surprise; I like to be surprised. It works out. Thus, I am excited for the possibilities IIT, or IIU. Maybe the tabloids have it right, or maybe Clay is playing a huge practical joke on the media and the fans, or something else altogether. Whatever it is, it's good for me, because the essence of my fandom, the bottom line of it all, is that Clay fascinates me, without my needing a script to describe who he is, or what he's planning to do. I think he's amazing, and I have a hard time understanding people who jump to any conclusions at all about him. More power to you if you think you know him, but the only thing I'm pretty darn sure about is that Clay Aiken is a free spirit and an old soul, whether he knows it or not. That, and he has that amazing voice and magnetic charm == and then there's the physical gifts he possesses, not to mention the quick wit and humanitarian heart -- roll it all up in one person and I'm not even capable of getting emotionally attached to any projection I may fleetingly entertain.

I think Clay is incredibly good at this celebrity thing. I've read for the last couple of years that quite a few fans want Clay to get endorsement deals. The fact that he doesn't do celebrity endorsements, other than for humanitarian and charitable efforts, underscores my admiration for him. I, for one, am never impressed to see a so-called artist selling potato chips, or blemish cream, or vitamin water, or Fords. It may not be the current conventional attitude, but an artist that uses celebrity or reputation to attach their name to a commercial product in exchange for money has always turned me right off, and I see them as less than "stars" and more as lesser lights or plastic opportunists, actually. Michael Jackson lost my interest early on because of the crass commercialism with Pepsi, followed by selling out The Beatles' music after undercutting Paul and Yoko to so sneakily obtain the rights to the Lennon-McCartney songs, which Lennon and McCartney never ever owned. I knew then that Michael Jackson could dance and he could sing, but he still wasn't shit to me. Sorry, MJ fans. Britney Spears, same thang. Also with Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, and countless others. All those country singers who sell trucks, same deal. So, I never feel like Clay is not being respected enough to be offered commercial whore deals. I think Clay intends to only lend his celebrity voice, or "whore himself out" to causes he truly believes in. There an undiluted power in that, and it contributes to making him a huge superstar in my eyes.

I've been working too much this week. So much that I didn't get a chance to wish a very happy birthday to Playbiller, who shares a birthday with my mother. I hope you had a grand day, Play! :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Yes, work has sucked this week. I'd rather be in SF.

And, Couchie, the Honeycrisp apples come in during the fall season. At least the best ones I had last year were purchased in October/November.

kf, I agree with everything you said here. Clay also fascinates me because sometimes it seems like he can do anything he sets his mind to.

I was just thinking about the endorsements the other day when I saw the Carrie one, whatever its for because celebrity endorsements don't mean diddly to me. I think I remember Clay addressing the endorsement deals in the beginning and that there were offers but he didn't really seem to want to do any or maybe that he would have to carefully consider what he would endorse. I hope somebody else remembers something about this and I didn't just make it up out of my butt or something. Anyway, my point was that I also admire that when he pimps himself out, its for a worthy cause like BAF or Unicef or Broadway Cares, etc, and not just so he can get more facetime on tv or put more money in his bank accounts. He is one hell of a man.

YAY! My house is finally empty ! Today was my son's 15th birthday, so the house has been overrun by party guests. Last year on this date, I was at Clay's concert here in Syracuse. Needless to say, I had a bit more fun last year! Right now I'm all alone, with my husband having packed up my son about an hour ago, and headed out to camp. Tomorrow, my cousin and I are driving to Wilkes Barre to meet up with a Clay-friend of ours. We haven't seen her since the Christmas concerts last year, so we're really looking forward to it.

Here's my lovely son Ryan. (the one with the long hair)

And here's our new kitten Bailey jumping at the strings from the ballons which are floating around.

And here's someone that I really, really miss!

Goodnight, all! :claydreaming_ClayIzzaQt:

OOh, I guess I'm lucky that my long evening with family and friends means that I missed out on all the angst. (Well, that, and the fact that I've limited my board scanning to just.... this one. Saves me time, and more importantly-aggravation!)
