I'm thinking the flower answer was because then people would start sending him favorite flower before a show, such as the one tonight. Just my take.

It's been a long day, but a good one. Most of the family just took a walk after sifting through old pictures and letters and such. Then, dinner....

Have fun tonight, ya'll.

:BlowKiss: LdyJ.

I like that answer for the flowers.

Clay if you love Xmas tours so much -- give me one please. Loved every tour but jnt05 was one I enjoyed immensely - from my toes freezing in Nashville at that hockey rink to the show going forward despite a sick star in Atlanta and a guy across the ailse from me breaking into tears at the first strains of the music of Mary Did you Know -- Claylove I don't think I remember a thing from the Paramount show because of all the work on the pre-party. It took me an hour to de-stress :cryingwlaughter:

ETA cuz it was 05

Clay said .... it won't serve the purpose that you're hoping to serve .... and then he said tulips. So I don't really think it's something like flowers in his dressing room since he told us tulips and that purpose would have been served by his answer. Maybe it has to do with color, if Clay thought this question was fishing for a color hint -- such as bluebonnets or yellow roses, or something like that? Otherwise, that preface is pretty mysterious -- unless he actually knows what purpose that questioner is hoping to serve???

How can it be that I am sitting here at home, thousands of miles away from Vegas-and yet I am so excited to hear Clay's voice again that I can barely stand it? It's crazy, but it has just been far too long. All afternoon I've been watching the clock and willing the hours to move on by. :yahoo:

And clack from Scarlett and the other clack goddesses? Just the possibility has a smile on my face already. If we get primo clack, I'm not sure my system can handle it.

What a great couple of weeks it has been! Q&A's at the OFC, a bonanza of adorable photos of what is arguably the cutest baby on the planet, along with his beautiful mama and gorgeous daddy. Tonight's peformance as special guest with the legendary David Foster, who always seems to bring out the best in Clay. Capped by 30 Rock guest appearance later this week. So fantatsic! I feel happy.

Hope all of our FCA members going to the show tonight have a magical, memorable, unforgettable evening! I'll be right here waiting for your news, recaps, and the good Lord willing-CLACK!!

Fear, great news about the school. I know how much that means to the kids...and to you.

Anna, hope you feel much better soon.

Claylove, :puppykiss: I still think you might could find a way to ship mangoes and Mother's Day dinner cross country. Ummmm...did I mention that I love blackberry cobbler almost as much as coffee and chocolate? So you know that's a whole LOT. :ready6:

I may or may not post again later, so will take this opportunity to wish all of the mothers and grandmothers on the board Happy Mother's Day!

As funny as Wanda is, and I do think she's a riot, I can't believe that there will ever be anyone in the history of the WHCD that will equal, much less surpass, Colbert. I watched that performance at least 20 times the next day! He had to kick his balls out of way to walk out of the room! He confronted everybody from Justice Scalia to Gen. Pace to President Bush, and gave no quarter. I'm still in awe.

I should have qualified that, I know!

Heeeee......someone just twittered that the dinner is like the Nerd Prom.

Have to pass along my supermarket radio experience from earlier today -- I'm strolling down the aisles and have already heard Clay sing "Without You" and then there are a couple of other songs and then this music starts and I immediately, from the first two or three notes, go YAY! another Clay song -- except it didn't sound the same and then I knew it had to be a song Clay had covered, but my mind just couldn't place it until the lyrics started and I recognized it as Broken Wings, obviously the original version which I had never heard before. I don't even know who sang it, just that it was kind of an easy listening vibe. All I can tell you is that it came nowhere near Clay's amazing, dramatic version of BW -- one of my all-time favorites. I can see how people can be attached to original versions of songs when they have an emotional connection -- but having none here, I'm telling you there is NO COMPARISON!!! Clay OWNS Broken Wings for me.

If you're surprised I never heard it, well I never heard Right Here Waiting or Everything I Do (I Do It For You) either before Clay. Before Clay, if it wasn't rock or alternative, or blues or soul -- it didn't penetrate into my world. I occasionaly hear the original version of RHW in a store and my ears pick it up now -- but that original version truly sucks IMO, and Clay's version is one of my favorites forever. Clay's songs are the "originals" in my world.

Oh God, I can't wait to hear his voice tonight -- even over a crappy cellcert!!!

*waves back to georgiesmybaby...had stepped away to get some supper*

keepingfaith, I so agree about BW. Clay created a piece of ART there, and there will never be another to equal it.

I'm so surprised we haven't had even a small sighting of Jerome, or Jaymes, or...Quiana, or Angela, or....Nick...or....whoever! :hahaha: to keep us occupied. Thanks to Clay for the answers this afternoon for the hungry hordes.....but ...let's get this show on the road! (yes, I know it doesn't start for 2.5 hours :) )

Eeeee just over 2 1/2 hours til the concert starts. I can hardly wait!!

I am so anticipating all the recaps.

What a nice surprise to come back from lunch with friends, an early birthday treat, to find that Clay had answered more questions.

Until today, I had never heard of Peter Cincotti and hadn't registered that he is playing tonight. Now, thanks to nanjeanne and Clay, I've listened to his Goodbye Philadelphia and I want to hear more of his songs.

I love that being a fan of Clay Aiken has introduced me to so many singers I was totally unaware of before.

I will bring over reports during the cellstream but I won't be able to wait up for hours after the event is over to bring over other recaps. I will need to get to bed shortly after its over because I have to get up early tomorrow. My sister and I are cooking Mom a feast for Mother's Day! We are doing a main meal lunch at around 1pm. Here is our menu:

Roasted Pork Loin

Crispy Red Potatoes with Parmesan and Herbs

Corn on the Cob

Grilled Asparagus

Homemade Blackberry Cobbler

We are also giving her a Starbucks Gift card because my mom LOVES her Starbucks and would rather have that over flowers, candy, or pretty much anything else. LOL

claylove... I live in OC... can I come, too! Yummy! :cryingwlaughter:

Eeeeeeeeeee!!! for Vegas!

Eeeeeeeeeee!!! for new answers from our man.

And (H)eeeeeeee!! for the subject line of this email from Tickets Now (that nearly made me pee my pants) :

Via BONILEE at CV:

Don't know if anyone said anything about it, but my best Clay buddy is in Vegas for the show. She was in the casino this afternoon and sat by another fan who was sitting next to Jerome. This other fan, don't know her name, started talking to Jerome and did not let on that she was a fan. He gave her some pointers on gambling and left. She saw him again later, when she had her husband with her and she introduced him to Jerome. Her DH didn't know that his wife had not let on that she was a Clay fan, and proceeded to say. "Oh! So this is the famous Jerome!" She was soo busted! Then Jerome laughed. So, she proceeded to ask him about Clay's performance and he said he will be singing three songs, and that it would be FABULOUS!! He would not tell her what three songs he was singing, though. If Jerome says it is fabulous, then it must be pretty special!! EEEEEEE!! I am so excited!

Bolding mine.

I don't think Parker was named so much to follow tradition as to pay tribute to all the sides of his family -- the Parker's (esp. Brett and Faye), the Aiken's and the Foster's.
YMMV

Had to look up YMMV ... never seen it before or at least, never had a reason to wonder what it meant until now:

Literally means "Your mileage may vary" but is often used in forum talk meaning that your results will vary

"There is a great sale going on at the store, most under $10, but YMMV"

Source:

Well ...... maybe Jaymes' mother's maiden name was Waldo, or Butts, or Schnitzelphluger? It only works when it's a name you want to give your child. That said, I have come across three different men in my life with the first name Barksdale!

Good point and thank goodness for flexibility in tradition! Also thank goodness for choice options such as a change of name by deed poll, and wish more people would use it .... just cannot imagine putting a child through school/life with a first or last name like 'Waldo', etc.

Clay's songs are the "originals" in my world.

That is so true for me as well.

I love that being a fan of Clay Aiken has introduced me to so many singers I was totally unaware of before.

I'd never heard of Kimmel and a bunch of others on television before I started taking an interest in Clay.

I feel really frustrated that I almost but didn't quite make it to Vegas to watch Clay and Charice sing, it just seems as if I'd been sent the money to go but other things got in the way.

I was in Vegas many years ago, it was a surreal feeling ... all those neon lights flashing. My boss told me that there would be slot machines at the ladies' room at the airport. While I can clearly remember slot machines at the airport, I wonder if I am dreaming that they were also at the ladies' room or whether I just think/know that because the boss mentioned it beforehand and so it registered in my brain cells!!

Couchie just called to report that she got her ticket and they are heading inside now. She feels strange because they haven't seen one person they know other than Jerome.

ETA: wonder if he was posting from his phone. His typo ratio is way up!

EATA: FLOVE the essay question answer, and 13! 13! 13! I find a witty man soooo hot.

I am proud to say that I asked the 13 question

I don't get how a favorite flower reveals your favorite color. My favorite flower is a pink carnation. My favorite color is blue.

Scarlett and I are leaving! Keep your fingers crossed for me.

weeeeeee Clay!!

fingers & toes crossed

:lipstick: Just remember: What happens in Vegas.....

....darn well better get reported back to the boards ASAP! :please:

is Scarlett sleeping around again ?

How come Clay looks younger every time I see him? NOT fair!

Just an update... still waiting for the stream to start

From CV:

Lisa (eandpmommy) called me from Vegas. She was having dinner at a Mexican style restaurant. She said it has amazing food. Apparently it is so amazing that Clay had lunch there this afternoon. She overheard a waitress say that she served David Foster, Clay Aiken and his baby and David Foster's sister.

I was surprised that Clay was eating at a Mexican restaurant, but Lisa said it's great food. Oh yeah, his bodyguard was there, too.

She also said she has KICK ASS seats and she's really excited!!

From CH via CV:

Artquest switched seats with Scarlett because her seat had a better view.

Eleid just called they are in their seats. The show will begin late - people are still getting there.

I'll let you know when we start the switch! (for the stream)

BTW I have never done this so I am just doing CV. If someone is reading at CH would you bring those over??? Thanks!
