Not too many going to Asheville? I won a three nights in the NC mountains from the Gala. It said one hour outside Asheville. I'll probably call and make a reservation for it then. Hopefully it's available. Plenty of room if anyone needs a place. But it is pretty secluded and is for nature lovers: biking and hiking or just looking. :treadmill:

Congrats to everyone going to Reno; one of these days I will have a concert to get excited about...really hoping for something here in the midwest.

2 Days until The First Day of Spring!

:glasses:

73 Days until June 1 and The New CD! :04:

Clay addresses The Key Club Convention in July!

:yahoo:

Happy Birthday to all celebrating!

Everyone have a great day!

Fear, we bid on that too. Sounds lovely. I am kind of in wait and see mode about Asheville until we get the full schedule and I see what else is near to us. I'd love to come back to NC in the summer but it's expensive, much cheaper if we can do a road trip to MI or NY somewhere. At least we have Chautauqua!

I hope there could be a concert after August 6th, I begin my summer vacation Aug 7th, so working on the 6th. I might try to get someone to switch with me the Friday and move a weekday off to have off the Thursday. So I would have to try for a ticket for the Chautauqua concert.

Chautauqua tickets should be easy since they are all general admission, no blood bath there. I just wish they'd update the site with the date that they will go on sale!

I bought Ruben's "Love Is" album last night on iTunes. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet because my laptop is being stupid and refusing to recognize my iPod when I try to update. But it seems to be more along the lines of something I would enjoy, and I've always liked Ruben's voice. His past albums haven't been my style. I figure he'll be including songs from this one in the concerts this summer.

Anyone else find that they are completely and totally addicted to Clay's voice this week? I have watched more clack in the past week than I've watched in the past 6 months. This morning I put my iPod on random in the car and it chose to play me the Merrillville All Is Well performance. I was driving down the road, grinning like an idiot, and may have even shed a tear or two. How does he have this effect on me?

I’ve got my fingers crossed for more news of some kind today, based on my theory that Team Clay or whomever seems to like to post stuff on the OFC on Friday afternoons. C’mon Midwest Concert Date! Or at least something that’s in a major city that’s reachable for a ton of people that have to fly and that’s an inside venue. (Chicago, NYC, Las Vegas, maybe Atlanta…)

I wrestled with the Asheville concert because so many of my friends will be there but when Reno came up I knew it was the best choice for me. Reno is just a short drive away. The summer time is our busiest time of the year at work so I am not sure if I could get enough time off to go to Asheville and the expense to go was really adding up for just one concert. It's more important to me to go the gala in October and I probably couldn't do both, so I am going to pass on Asheville and go to the gala. By October I should have no trouble getting a few days off from work. Fortunately, I have awesome friends who completely understand my choice :-)

Luckiest1, I had already planned to spend some quality time with some clack this weekend! I understand Clay's reasons and glad they were respected but man I would love some mp3s from the PBS taping!

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Some pricing news that could impact the cost of Clay’s CD at retail, since Decca is under the UMG umbrella.

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2010/03/18/universal-announces-plan-to-lower-cd-prices-to-10-or-less/

Sales of physical albums have steadily decreased over the past half decade, and now one major label is hoping to stem the decline by adopting a daring new strategy: lowering the price of CDs. Universal Music Group has revealed a plan to reduce the wholesale cost of their albums in order to decrease the retail price of single-disc albums to $10 or less, Billboard.biz reports. Under the new plan, sales of CDs will only boast a 25 percent profit margin, but UMG hopes the increase of CD sales volume will help reinvigorate their revenues.

While some may deem UMG’s strategy as “too little, too late,” the move does put the price of physical discs in line with what digital music services like iTunes charge for full album downloads, making physical discs a more attractive option. “We think it will really bring new life into the physical format,” Universal Music Group Distribution president/CEO Jim Urie said. UMG revealed that they plan on selling more deluxe editions of albums, however those discs will carry a higher price tag.

This is so cool. NH is on a Tuesday night so the Cluben Tour isn't confined to weekends. There are outlines of regional clusters. I don't expect any major cities right now because I think the big venues will be for Clay's Tried and True tour with a big band.

If he's doing casinos, anyone know of major casino/entertainment venues in the South? Offhand, I know of casinos in Lake Charles and Biloxi, but I can't allow myself to dream about Lake Charles. I'm delighted about casino shows since outdoor venues in the summertime in the South are a no-go for me. I can't count on the "beginner's luck" that was Frisco on the 4th of July to ever happen again. Temperatures in the 80's in Texas in July? Outrageous luck that was.

I also am not surprised that the OFC doesn't have the schedule. This tour, in trying financial times, is probably going to expand due to demand, and there's no way to see into the future on that. But the faster these shows sell out, the more will get added along the way. I'm especially interested in where he'll be on Friday, July 30th.

I keep thinking that we're going to have to call this summer "Not-A-Tour2"!

And yeah, I want to know where he'll be on July 30 -- or August 1.

I also certainly hope for a show or two in the midwest, something I can get to by driving.

*scurries off to find casinos with theaters big enough in the Midest*

I understand that this is going to be another NAT, but you'd think that they OFC could at least keep up with the dates being announced by the venues themselves. I mean, unless you are on a fan board, you'd know nothing of the tour yet, and by the time you found out, tickets might have already gone on sale, and/or sold out. Not to mention that this kind of negates some of the perks of belonging to the OFC, like pre-sales etc. On the other hand, Clay seems to think that every seat is as good as the next, since he uses a microphone and no one needs to see him up close. *snerk*

Sorry, I just find this dribble of information v.v. frustrating. I'm not usually one to complain. I am happy for those who live in the vicinity of these new venues! I'd love to go back to NYC, but accomodations are expensive, and I bet good tickets will be difficult to come by. Chautauqua is looking like my best bet, but it's GA, and I really want at least one venue on this tour where I can be guaranteed in advance of a seat that doesn't require binoculars to see facial expressions. (*cough*like Canandaigua*cough*)

ldyj, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, please scrape me off the ceiling please!

couchie, it's about damn time I get to see you again!

keeping... I am beyond thrilled to be meeting you in Reno. I wrote that post before I read that you were going.

Come on for CA! He did well at Pala and their food was excellent.

Luckiest... I'm not sure why, with all these years of concerts under their belt, Team Clay doesn't know that we'd likde to get the whole concert list at once to plan trips. Whatsupwithat???

The only reason I can think of for now releasing all the dates at once is that they have not gotten confirmation from all venues as of yet or they are still booking venues. I actually like that we are finding them out one at a time...kind of exciting to see what is going to pop up next. I know it is a pain in the ass trying to plan...but I would hate for Team Clay to announce a tentative tour...have people make plans and then have dates fall through. I think this way you have absolute confirmation and can plan accordingly.

When is the Asheville concert? I just discovered that Asheville is about a 5hr drive for me... *devious thinking*

ETA: Thanks, luckiest1! I was too lazy to go back and actually find the date... :P

I understand that and really don't know why these tours aren't listed on the OFC home page. I think they should be; however, the OFC board has threads for all the shows we've discovered so far. There's no OFC exclusive pre-sale for this, IMO, because it's "Clay and Ruben." I can explain it to myself in that Clay has enough respect for Ruben and his fans that he wouldn't feel comfortable giving his own fans an exclusive first shot at seats. He knows the bulk of seats will be filled by his own fans, but Clay's such a gentleman and Ruben is his good friend. The tickets that went on sale for Reno yesterday were functionally a Clay/Ruben fan pre-sale, IMO.

Anyway, I'd feel differently if this were an official Clay Aiken full tour, and I anticipate getting the full Tried & True tour schedule on the OFC, with pre-sales for all.
