I’m kind of hoping that the definition of a “Timeless Tour” would stretch to include some of Clay’s songs from OMWH, besides just the classics from TnT. I thought both “Sacrificial Love” and “Lover All Alone” fit in perfectly with the standards Clay sang at GFI. I just need the Timeless Tour to make time to visit the Midwest.

From the CH, a listing of dates from Pollstar:

Clay Aiken Pollstar

Which includes this date: Sat 06/26/10, Pasadena, CA, Langham, Huntington Hotel & Spa

Now, this one does NOT include Ruben, supposedly, and when I go to the Hotel's site, I don't find any entertainment listings anywhere. I wonder if this one might be a private event?

Cool for Ruben -- saw the clip, and he's looking good. He also seems very happy.

most excellent!

Hopefully there will be clack of his interview or if sombody can tell me exactly what time he came on I can switch in and out LOL.

Since tickets are being sold I hope they announce it soon. Hell it's not us I'm worried about since we'll know which dates are confirmed before Clay does -- but how can you sell tickets to a concert if nobody knows about it. Thank goodness for Ruben. I guess my mom will learn it's a Ruben/Clay tour when she watches idol tonight. I was trying to keep that a surprise. She'll definitely want to go as she's a huge Ruben fan.

So did what was Mom's reaction? Did she squee??? :snoopy:

I saw the clip this morning (thank you goldarngirl) and that may be the most animated I've ever seen Ruben. Thought he was actually gonna clip Mecrest a couple times :hahaha: I'm v. v. happy that they plugged the tour, and yes, Ryan is still a douche bringing up the Claymates to Ruben. Hee, although, Ruben did call it 'Timeless with Ruben and Clay' :P

Could someone who watched the actual broadcast tell me what Ellen's response to Ruben was? In the short clip I saw (which was only the talking) both Simon and Kara were clapping, Randy was grinning - Ellen just seemed to be sitting there.

Top 10 best-selling ‘American Idols’

Reality competition has turned many amateurs into singing superstars

Access Hollywood

7:53 p.m. CT, Wed., March. 31, 2010

LOS ANGELES - Over its eight seasons, “American Idol” has turned dozens of amateur singers into superstars. Kelly Clarkson went from blushing 20-something with a big voice to international sensation thanks to her top spot on the show, while the quiet but commanding Carrie Underwood scored Grammys, country music accolades and millions of album sales after winning the crown.

Plenty of formerly undiscovered singers have gone far even without winning the competition too, like season two runner-up Clay Aiken, who went from chart topper to Broadway star. Who could forget Chris Daughtry, the shaved-headed rocker, who went on to front his own ensemble and win the hearts of millions.

10. David Archuleta - 962,000 albums sold

8. Jordin Sparks - 1.2 million albums sold

8. Kellie Pickler - 1.2 million albums sold

7. David Cook - 1.3 million album sold

6. Fantasia Barrino - 2.3 million albums sold

5. Ruben Studdard - 2.5 million albums sold

4. Clay Aiken — 4.9 million albums sold: Long before the “Soul Patrol” rallied behind “Grey Charles,” aka Taylor Hicks in season five, Clay Aiken was the first Idol contestant to have a group of super-mobilized and creatively named fans — in his case, the "Claymates." The skinny, redheaded, flat-ironed wonder’s followers were strong, but they fell just shy of pushing their candidate to the top, a spot taken by Studdard in season two. Still, not winning American Idol did little to stop the star. His first single, a cover of the classic "Bridge Over Troubled Water," went platinum, and his debut album, 2003’s "Measure of a Man" went double platinum. He cleverly followed that up in 2004 with a holiday album, "Merry Christmas With Love," which also reached platinum status. Aiken released his last album, “On My Way Here,” in 2008 and he recently starred on Broadway in "Spamalot."

3. Chris Daughtry ... 5.3 million albums sold

2. Kelly Clarkson ... 10.4 million albums sold

1. Carrie Underwood ... 10.5 million albums sold

The sales to date are in tiers: Clarkson and Underwood, Clay and Daughtry, Fantasia and Ruben, followed by Archuleta, Cook, Sparks and Pickler. Season 5 has neither a winner nor a runner-up in the Top 10.

Note: Ruben may call it "The Timeless Tour with Ruben and Clay" -- but Ticketmaster and the Silver Legacy called it ... "Clay Aiken." This will probably be a source of banter material for the tour.

I don't remember either Ellen or Randy reacting much to Ruben. As much as I want to like his music, that song did nothing for me. Too much melisma I think. But I am v.v. happy with how he handled himself.

That Pasadena date seems suspect to me. Maybe they'll revise it. I read somewhere that someone called the venue and they knew nothing about it.

I am ready for the full tour announcement today. Seriously ready. Please?

Give a Damn Campaign Launches!

Cyndi Lauper, Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, Jason Mraz, Cynthia Nixon, Anna Paquin, Sharon & Kelly Osbourne, Judith Light, Kim Kardashian, Clay Aiken, Wanda Sykes, and others join forces in Give a Damn Campaign Video Series

April 1, 2010 [NEW YORK] – Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Fund today launched the Give a Damn Campaign (www.WeGiveADamn.org), a bold, web-based initiative with the goal of educating and engaging the straight community in the advancement of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. The call-to-action campaign kicks off with the release of its first series of videos which feature Cyndi Lauper, Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, Jason Mraz, Cynthia Nixon, Anna Paquin, Sharon & Kelly Osbourne, Judith Light, Kim Kardashian, Clay Aiken, Wanda Sykes, Eric Roberts, and Kevin Alejandro expressing why they Give a Damn about equality.

"In my life I've crossed paths with many different people and I've seen firsthand what it means to be discriminated against," said Cyndi Lauper, True Colors Fund co-founder. "I've come to realize equality means a lot to people who don't have it and that, as a straight person, I have a responsibility to stand up for gay and transgender people each and every day. We all have to get involved; we all have to give a damn."

The Give a Damn Campaign's debut video series, produced by Red Thread Productions, directs viewers to wegiveadamn.org, an innovative and interactive website designed by Purple Crayons, where they are presented with ways they can get informed and get involved.

The site is designed as an easy to understand introduction to the issues affecting the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. In addition to the video component, wegiveadamn.org features three important sections: the Damn Blog, which is updated daily to keep readers informed on breaking news and ways to get involved, Personal Stories, where visitors can read about why other people support equality and how inequalities have affected their lives and Damn Issues, where visitors can learn about the issues that matter most to them.

Wegiveadamn.org also functions as a helpful tool for people to get involved in advancing equality. In particular, visitors are urged to reach out to the straight people in their lives to encourage them to show their support. Through the use of the site's "Tell a Friend" feature and social media tools like Facebook and Twitter, users are able to easily share any of the videos, personal stories or other content that will best assist them in opening a dialogue about equality with the people in their lives. Additional opportunities to get involved are available through partnerships with an array of non-profit organizations. One of the easiest things visitors can do to support equality is join the Give a Damn Campaign. By providing their email address visitors can stay informed and stay involved, as well as enjoy a personalized and customized version of wegiveadamn.org.

"Our focus is to open a dialogue with everyone, especially the straight community, who may not be fully aware of the inequality facing gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans. The Give a Damn Campaign will help bridge that gap," said True Colors Fund Executive Director Gregory Lewis. "'Equality for all is the basis upon which this country was built and it can only be achieved if we all get informed and get involved."

So is the Reno show w/Ruben? My mom is in Oceanside with my brother so don't know her reaction. I'll call her tonight.

The music business has really changed. People just don't pay for music anymore. What season is Idol in. Is Jordin Sparks the the most recent idolist to win the top 10 or is that David Cook? I lose track of order since I don't watch. I wonder how the record company determines who is successful - the number of ring tones they sell? LOL Although it's clear that certain album can still sell at a double platinum clip when it strikes a chord.

I hope Ruben sold some tickets last night!!

Happy Thursday.

A screencap or two of Clay from the PSA would be greatly appreciated by those of us trapped in the Land of No Streaming Video aka Work.

Here's a sendspace of PSA #1, converted to .wmv. It's the free version so it won't last long. Pass it on. About 5Mb.

And some tee-niney screenshots.

laughn called me at work and started talking about Windsor and I went “huh?” because I’d been off and on the boards all morning, but was off when the TOUR NEWS hit.

So, gigantic EEEEEEE’s for Windsor (waves to the Canadian peeps and reminds the American peeps that you’ll need a passport.)

And then there’s Hammond, Indiana which is also very reachable for us. Might there be a chance that I could actually meet ldyjocelyn in person?!

Runs around in circles until passing out from joy….

Thanks for the upload, kimiye! And you're right, the link won't last long, so I uploaded your vid again http://www.sendspace.com/file/7i33yj for people who see the post later today.

So, I'm thinking the use of "damn" in Clay's recent speech might have some reference to this "give a damn" campaign? Clay's so smart like that.

And EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE for more tour news! This is one I'll be sitting out, just from a financial perspective, but I'm looking forward to all the tales from the road and the televised special. I hope this is the beginning of many years of renewed success for Clay in all his endeavors.

For those interested in when the Give a Damn campaign might have been filmed...here's an article that suggests the timeframe. It also gives some information for those True Blood fans!

Anna Paquin Comes Out as Bisexual

"I'm Anna Paquin. I'm bisexual and I give a damn," Paquin, 27, says on-camera during a private taping on Jan. 30 in Los Angeles. Sources said they were unaware beforehand that Paquin would make the announcement.

What a great day for so MANY people!

Yes, 00lsee, I had the same thought -- that Clay built his speech around this campaign. He's soooooo cool like that.
