Sigh. If wasn't dearly in love with my "call me" avatar, this would be it.

Maybe someone will use it as theirs for me?

"Do with me what you wish." Sure thing, Clay. Like you wouldn't scream and run if that happened. :cryingwlaughter:

In my case, it was a dream of mine. Didn't say it wouldn't happen as you predict! cryingwlaughter.gif

Song of the Day announcement:

Suspicious Minds

jmh is hopefully going to take these over for the next few days for me. flirtysmile3.gifjmh

Sighhhhhhhhhhhh. Sometimes his eyes are so gorgeously green. :flirtysmile3: He is beautiful.

Suspicious Minds. The one song that I didn't really see as fitting in with the rest. (I would've sworn it was a seventies song. *waves to luckiest1*) I wasn't over-the-moon about it because I felt like he'd already done it and wanted something 'new'. But once again, he did it. He not only made me love something I never expected to, I think this is one of his best vocals. Even if there isn't much different about the arrangement I feel like this is one that, as much as I loathe the expression, he really makes his own. Love the ending most of all.

Suspicious Minds...my second favorite song on the CD after Crying...I hear the opening music and I immediately start bouncing my seat...I think it is a nice addition after some of the slower songs and breaks up the CD a bit. I absolutely adore the ending and was disappointed that he didn't sing it that way in the PBS Special. It is a little odd not to hear as many background vocals as were in it when he sang it during the JBT, I keep waiting for Angela to come in at times and you really can't hear Quiana all that much, but maybe that was the point, keep the focus all on Clay's voice.

Love it!

It's a great picture, isn't it? Makes me smile :D . I am too lazy to change avis, but if I were inclined to use a Clay avi, I think this would be it.

Suspicious Minds - This track is not a favorite, and I skip it most of the time. Clay's vocals sound great, but I've just never really cared for the song or style, and Clay's version didn't change my reaction to it. I don't dislike the track, it just doesn't appeal to me. :noidea:

Ooooh, FLOVE Suspicious Minds! Was just bopping along to it in the car, and I especially like the horn part that punctuates at times. Makes me hit the steering wheel! And then the "I love you too much baybeeeeee" at the end. Mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm good.

I'm soooooo frustrated, I have a technical issue at work that I can't for the life of me resolve, and then last night half the fuses in my house blew for no apparent reason, and the new fuses I bought don't seem to work either. So I was sitting there in the dark with no internet for a few hours before I went to bed. Thankfully, the kitchen area (fridge, stove, lights) are working, as well as the one outlet in the living room that the TV is plugged into. Weirdness!

This is one of the do-over songs from the taping. He joked that he didn't do anything wrong - Quiana just suggested it so that they could turn up her mic, lol. Interesting though - he did the ending two different ways and it was noticeable enough that I remember it months later. Funny though, neither of them were exactly the same as the CD recording - cuz I definitely would've remembered that!

So far, SM may be the most "controversial" song on the CD from personal experience. My DIL's mother adores it. It's her favorite on the album and she says she's always loved this song and it's been one of her top favorites since the 60's. My sister skips it as it's the one song she doesn't like.

Me? I'm not an Elvis fan, but did enjoy watching the clack of this from JBT. I enjoy the T&T version even more because of the arrangement of the last minute or so of the song. It's the only fade-out ending on the album, and I do like fade-out, though they require alteration when sung live. The ending of this version makes it Clay's own.

In McCartney's first solo album he sang a song called "Every Night" that wouldn't have been my favorite at all, except he did this little aside --"believe me, Mama" -- that I became addicted to hearing. Those three words made it an all-time favorite. As for SM, the, I love you too much, BAYBEH is just that kind of thing. AND, the way he sings "trap" the couple of times before amd after that climax phrase is quivering. It's not melisma at all. It's magnificent control-isma, or something equally fine.

Also, from an analytical standpoint, I think this song is perfectly positioned between UM and Crying. There needs to be a SM or something like it right there in that spot. It's needed to relieve the heaviness after Unchained Melody; and the beginning vocal of Crying would not be quite as stunning without coming off an uptempo song. It's the changes that are striking when listening to the tracks in succession.

Oh boy! I skip SM all the time. It's my least favourite. I can't explain why it just does nothing for me. I didn't ever listen to Elvis' version so it must be the song and not the singer!

Ha ha, and I love everything about "Every Night", especially the live version. Hope he sings it again this year!

I'm apparently a sucker for those little add-on lines that contain the word "Mama" -- I love the part in John Lennon's Nobody Told Me when he follows the line "strange days indeed" with "most peculiar, Mama."

Just read on MSNBC that the Pigez is trying to diffuse the uproar over showing pixilated shots of Miley Cyrus's crotch and saying she wasn't wearing underwear, by saying the whole thing was faked. People were talking about things like distribution of child porn because she's 17. He's in a pretty pickle now, isn't he? Having to admit he's a complete FAKE and that he doctors photographs to create scandalous stories, in order to stay out of jail! Karma is a beauty.

Also not in the category of 'if you can't say something nice' -- I thought Christina Aguilera did a horrible and self-indulgent job on the National Anthem at the NBA game last night. It just went on and on and the warbling became unbearable to me after a while. For God's sake, it's the National Anthem, not the OTT encore performance of your cancelled tour, Christina! I like to actually be able to recognize The Star Spangled Banner when I hear it.

From the CH, Notacanuck:

Lauren Kennedy talks about the Bringing Broadway Home benefit concert here

http://wptfmornings....nc-theater.html

She will be doing a duet with Clay (maybe a trio with Clay & Terrence Mann?). Those going to the show will be treated to group medleys, duets & trios, and solos.

Maybe somebody should tell them it's on June 21st, not July 21st. *g*

Hello, FCA! :hello:

What a wonderful read the last few pages have been! Thank you for catching me up.

I've been off the boards/my computer since 11 a.m. when I hopped into the shower to get ready for my afternoon academy music lessons. With no warning, my left knee or ankle gave way, and I fell. Long story short, my ankle was so sprained that I could barely use it for pushing up. For an hour and a half, I tried several different positions to get up. Finally I was able to get on my knees and pull myself up to the side of the tub. I thought I was going to be in that tub forever.

I called my sister for a ride, made a doctor's appointment, and canceled my lessons. My ankle is bound, and I have been through several sessions of frozen corn on the knee and the ankle, both of which are swollen and all shades of blue/purple.

My den looks like a retirement home with a walker (from a broken leg 15 years ago), my mother's cane, and a wheel chair my BIL brought over from his church. I have only used one at a time. :cryingwlaughter:

Thnx again for the great catch-up from the Linda Eder site, as well as your "Unchained Melody" critiques. I'll try to get back in the groove tomorrow.

Have a great evening, all!

Caro :listen:

Caro... ouch and I'm sorry!!! You got yourself out and that's the important part. Get well soon!!!!!!

keeping... your post about Piggez just made my day. I hope this is the thing that finally gets people to stop paying him money to be gross!

Unchained Melody... sometimes I love the swoop and sometimes I don't. But, I never skip the song, so that tells you something, huh!

Suspicious Minds... I like it, but it is the one song I skip occasionally. Not because I don't like it, but because I have heard it so very often, new version or not. I want to get to the next song that I haven't heard 1,482, 207 times.

I can not always post from work so didn't comment as I wanted to on What Kind of Fool. I love the song and the deep notes Clay sings. I do wish he had sung the pathos parts of it with a bit more emotion. Just me, I'm sure. Doesn't stop it from being one of my top 4 songs on the CD, tho.

I'm so excited... only 6 more weeks till Reno!!!! Whooo hooo!!!!!!

And one more thing about Suspicious Minds (two actually)..... In a couple of places he sings, "We can't go OWN together" -- and in one place right before the big "I love you too much, BAYBEH" he sings "Why cain't ya see." :flirtysmile3:

Went to lunch with Sis and she had Tried & True playing when I got in the car. She shushed me during What Kind of Fool Am I. A week ago she told me she didn't like it so much because she missed the slower more dramatic "give a damn" version ... and today she shushes me and admits that it's gotten to her and she really loves Clay's version. That's the way he works.
