But it was also true behind the scenes. As Graham, Santorum, Pataki and Jindal jousted in the debate hall, a Radio France reporter stood in the middle of the so-called spin room, speaking into his cellphone in French. I could only make out a single word: “Trump.” Nearby, a trio of bearded, beflanneled dudes from Funny or Die cornered former American Idolrunner-up and North Carolina congressional candidate Clay Aiken, resplendent in a slick gray suit and bright-blue tie, to ask him, on camera, about his experience as a contestant on Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice.

“Can we say ‘f***?’” Aiken asked his interlocutors.

“Sure!” they said.

“Trump promised me a check for finishing in second place,” Aiken said. “I never saw that check. So I’ve come here specifically to ask him where the f*** that check is.”

“Donald Trump doesn’t keep his promises?” one of the guys yelped.

Aiken shook his head no.

Apparently they were joking about something.

We had football here too. I've seen the first segment from a download. The psychic part is pretty jokey and his narration for the whole piece was good, I thought. I'll go see if I can find any new parts, or maybe tomorrow.... but I wanted to be the first to say to ldyjocelyn,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!

:bdayparty2:

Thank you for all you do to keep this board going. It was fun to eeee and squeeee at every new picture, and then throw in Hardball and Funny or Die for icing. I love the line about the Claymates on the platform and Dana Bash's tweet. Oh, and yeah, him looking extremely hot and redheaded.

3) Celebrity politics

It wouldn't be an event in California without a celebrity. "American Idol" runner-up and onetime congressional candidate Clay Aiken was there covering the event for the Insider. When he wasn't interviewing an astrologist for her take on the debate, he was dishing out his wisdom on what ails modern politics.

"Money," he said.

Aiken said he balked when his campaign staff told him he needed to spend 40 hours a week calling donors as he attempted to unseat GOP Rep. Renee Ellmers in North Carolina in 2014.

"I thought we'd focus on the issues," he said.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes yesterday! I had the day off -- spent the morning doing small errands, and then had a massage. My husband took me out to a nice dinner. Today, we're off to, of all places, IKEA! I've never been to one, and it takes over 2 hours to get to the nearest store. Planning a fun day off shopping.

I also either bought or received several cool things in the main yesterday. I'll post more about those later...

Ninna, I have reversed your sex change pronto before you have to buy a new wardrobe. I think the dots under members are connected to the number of posts people have made.

I have a whole family full of weird relatives, including me. They may say I'm the weirdest, but don't believe them!

Clay's going to be on this show very soon, it's streaming LIVE:

This was an interview Clay did when he was in Philadelphia for AI.

ETA: Just finished. Short, but kinda cool. Talked about the differences between his going through auditions and those in the stands there, and also how many people have made careers just by being on AI.
