  1. I would think it is situational...Clay rarely comes across the same on TV as he does in concert . After all how does one get "in the mood" when there is blocking and lighting and sound checks and that damn camera to follow with those constant and mind blowing EFs. I mean seriously a good EF requires a lot of energy...

If anything I find myself being the one stiff...LOL While intently watching I was nervous and anxious for him, for sales for EVERYTHING...

    *breath clayanne*.

...I didn't even know all the words since I haven't visited the lyric thread....baaaad Clayfan.

I think EIDN is going to kill live....God help the unsuspecting NJU peeps who might find their way to a show.

  2. WOW. While I listened and read about Elvis during the tour at Graceland, I was struck so many times with the uncanny similarities between him and Clay--their upbringing, their sudden fame, their humanitarianism and generosity...Reading newspaper/magazine articles about the "phenomenon"---asking, "What makes this guy so special? What IS it?" and the answer being, "Yes, he can sing...but it's more than that." One quote from Lisa Marie Presley said something to the effect that when Elvis stepped on stage, it was his SPIRIT singing...and reaching out to other spirits. And a quote of Elvis was something like, "My job is to entertain the audience, to make them feel the music." Also, one article talked about his fans---how loyal they were and how much Elvis loved that. Elvis said their love made him want to show his love back.

    Sound familiar?

Dusting off some lurker dust to agree with you. When I went to Graceland in 2005 I came away with the same thoughts. It was almost surreal at times. Even my husband, after reading about the fans said Clay has fans very much like Elvis. My mother was a devoted Elvis fan....still is....she was one of Elvis' "older fans" back in the 50's...you know the kind that today's media discounts as less than worthy. But all these years later she is still a huge Elvis fan and buys anything she can find with his name on it. I imagine when I am her age I will be working on figuring out the newest high-tech way (Eeeep!) to get Clay's latest music. My mother also enjoys Clay and said when she heard him hit that low note in BOTW on AI it was indeed for her like Elvis all over again.

    On My Way Here

    I took my first step

On that black and white kitchen floor

I sometimes wonder if that house

    Is even there, anymore

I had my first glimpse of love

    When I was five

I watched two people split apart

But still the three of us survived

    I’ve seen the best

    I’ve seen the worst

    I wouldn’t change what I’ve been through

    I’ve touched the sky

    I’ve hit the wall

But I did what I had to

    Ooooohhhh

    CHORUS:

    On my way here

    Where I am now

    I’ve learned to fly

I have to want to leave the ground

    I’ve fallen hard

    But I’ve been loved

And in the end it all works out

    My faith has conquered fear

    On my way here.

    Oh yeah yeaaah

    My address has changed

    Almost every year

    I've found that standing still

Can quickly make a lifetime disappear

    I'd rather try and fail

    A thousand times denied

And this, whenever you feel pain

It lets you know that you’re alive

    I’ve been a fool

    I’ve been afraid

    Yeah, I’ve been loved

    I've been lied to

    I've been wrong

    And I've been right

I stood up when I had to

    Yeah Yeahhhh

    On my way here

    Where I am now

    I’ve learned to fly

I have to want to leave the ground

    I’ve fallen hard

    But I’ve been loved

And in the end it all works out

    My faith has conquered fear

    On my way here.

    No guarantees

I believed that I would find

An open door or a light

To lead me to the other side

    I guess that is why

    On my way here

    Where I am now

    I’ve learned to fly

I have to want to leave the ground

    I’ve fallen hard

    But I‘ve been loved

And in the end it all works out

    My faith has conquered fear

    On my way here

    Yeahhhh

    Oooooohh
