  1. I was offline last night too, so I didn't see the news about Clay's grandfather. My heart goes out to him and his family.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Claynadians! We originally were going to do dinner tonight, so I was kind of rushing around, but all 3 kids have requested that we do it Sunday instead, which is the more traditional day, because they have 3 separate commitments to other things tonight. Hee, it's hard to get everyone together when the kids get older! But I'm glad we worked it out. So today I can breathe and take my time. I'm going to take luckiestmom and luckiestdaughter to the farmer's market this morning, that should be fun. And then this afternoon make some of the stuff you can do ahead. I'm also hoping to make some pies or maybe a pumpkin cheesecake.

We usually have our dinner on Sunday and it just gives us more recuperation time on Monday. Wish me luck - I'm going to make my first apple pie!

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians!

  2. Thanks so much for this tourney! I've been spending most of my time lurking, but I made sure to check in every day to vote!

  3. I *hate* to do this, but I must remove myself & annabearmom from the list... :( Similar situation to last year - I'll be in the process of moving and between that, school & work, I just can't make it time or finance-wise.

I will definitely miss seeing some of you again & meeting others, but I hope y'all have a GREAT time & the gala is a HUGE success for the National Inclusion Project! :thbighug-1:

I feel your pain, because my plans changed this year too! :thbighug-1:

At least we can hang out online and wait for the Gala reports on Saturday night, right? :)

  4. ((((Bella19)))) I didn't realize you were involved in that mess as well!

Thanks for letting me know.....next year in Raleigh! :)

Thanks - I'll cross my fingers for next year!

My BF was over for lunch today and, although we hate being off work (never mind the financial implications!), we're both using the time to get stuff done around the house. My laundry room is finally finished after almost 6 years of living in this house. :)

  5. Just a reminder.....PLEASE let me know if your plans change and you will not be able to attend so that we have a count for the hotel.

Unfortunately, I won't be getting to Raleigh this year. We're heading into week 4 of the strike and my travel fund has become my contingency fund.

Hope everyone attending has a blast at the gala and the breakfast!

  6. Thanks for that info, Bella19. Better to know ahead of time. Still just as excited for my NYC getaway, though. luckiestdaughter is a huge Rosie fan, and we are also hoping to catch Guys and Dolls while we are there. Look forward to more exploring of the city, too. I'm hoping the weather stays nice! :)

You're welcome. :) I know you'll both have a great time in NY and the weather is usually great in April.

  7. For those of you going to Rosie's event this month, I read this in the "Ask Ro" section of her blog today:

"Ro, I just read on a Clay board "Rosie's event is on the 27th, I read that Clay's part of that will be taped, he won't actually be there." It would be fair to clear this up. RIght? As a Clay fan I hate to be used!!

    yes that is true"

Here's the direct link to the section - scroll down, close to the bottom - Rosie's Blog - Ask Ro

  8. Although ANTM isn't everyone's cuppa, I love it as a guilty pleasure, and because my daughter loves Tyra too if she's home we watch it together. OTOH, I'm happy to give AI or Survivor a pass - different strokes! I loved every single minute that Clay was on last night.

For anyone that's never watched it before, what's missing when you watch an episode so far into the season is each girl's backstory, along with the transformations they go through by the second episode. The girls all have their reasons for auditioning to get on the show, unlike kiddie pageants where the little ones are pushed by their parents. Tahlia, who got the boot last night, is probably the best example. What you didn't see is that she has burn scars across her torso and along her arms, and pushed herself to model. The show gets good ratings and I doubt it would be into it's 12th season if it didn't do well.

If I want more intellectual tv, I turn to the CBC or PBS.

  9. luckiest1 - Check your listings for the A Channel - that's where in airs in Toronto. You probably get it in your area too. Glad Piper has healed nicely and that mum can sleep again. ;)

    {{{{{Scarlett}}}}} - You've been missed!

Well, it must be the full moon tomorrow, because Metro News (free newspaper distributed across Canada), which has never been kind to Clay, posted the AP article today with no snippage:

From music to modelling - Idol Clay Aiken to judge Next Top Models

  10. Just read this at CV.. The source was .... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?.../e105353D85.DTL (you may need to copy and paste)

    Interesting last couple of lines....

Aiken judges aspiring models' acting abilities

Aiken's recording contract with RCA has ended, and he said he's considering other labels, while also looking at stage and television offers.

"All three look enticing, and I'm in the luxurious position of letting them sit down and come to me," he said

Wow, that's great! Thanks for bringing the article over here! :BlowKiss:

  11. Good morning all. It's a beautiful, sunny day here. I took the puppy in to be spayed this morning, so please send good thoughts. I'm sure it will be fine but I am nervous about it.

I am seriously considering taking a trip to NYC for the Rosie benefit in a few weeks. It just so happens to fall on luckiestdaughter's birthday, and she just so happens to love Rosie and Clay. :)

{{{{{Piper and momma}}}}} - I remember how nerve wracking it was when we got our furbaby spayed.

My girls would be thrilled to go back to NYC for their bdays and I bet your daughter would be ecstatic! If you can work it out, go for it! This message was brought to you by Enablers'R'Us. :)

  12. Claynadians.....FYI, I got an email this morning basically cancelling my order for TVBOCA. :cry4::cry4: I don't for the life of me understand why they would advertise for sale, something they can't sell....????!!!

I tried to order from Amazon.ca Monday and they said it was "not available" (this after getting an email from them a week ago suggesting I order it) , so I ordered from Amazon.com instead. Got an e-mail yesterday saying that it's already been shipped from the U.S. so I'm glad I did what I did.

Thanks for the heads up! I just checked my home email and had a message that the were still trying to get the cd for me. I've had that message before for other items, which never became available, so I just cancelled the whole order.

Guess I'm off to the US site to get my copy too!

  13. I'm hoping to be there this year too! I guessed at the date of this year's gala and actually got vacation time approved a month ago - go me!

I've also got enough air miles to fly for free (even if I have to pay the taxes), but right now I'm worried about being on strike this summer. Even if we are, I'm hoping my emergency fund will have enough left to cover a trip to Raleigh. I'm so sorry I didn't go last year, so I don't want to miss this one.
