  1. Here are the first 10 songs I purchased on iTunes - in June of 2003. The June 20th Rolling Stone cover was my impetus to get started. Still haven't stopped. That first day I, too, went crazy and downloaded 27 songs, including a version of "When I Fall in Love" by the Lettermen with explicit lyrics. The Lettermen? Explicit lyrics? Scratches head in puzzlement.

The Cover of the Rolling Stone - Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show

Walk Like an Egyptian - The Bangles

    Piano Man - Billy Joel

The Devil Went Down to Georgia Charlie Daniels

I Fall to Pieces - Patsy Cline

    Hotel California - The Eagles

Take it Easy - The Eagles

    White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane

    Indian Lake - The Cowsills

Proud Mary - Ike and Tina Turner

  2. At various time we would stop and look at each other and say "OMG it's 10 days". and then we would ee and break into fits of giggles...just like real 12 year olds.
And eeeeeeeeeeee right back at you. I am really looking forward to the eHP party. Not that y'all have a reputation or anything. What a great way to start my summer of Clay!

I got a pedicure yesterday - got flowers put on my toes. DD says that makes me a 12 year old, too!

{{{{{{playbiller}}}}}} We may not always agree on stuff, but you're an important voice here. I hope all your tests turn out the best.

  3. For artquest, cindilu, and muski and anyone else who wants to geek out on "The Last Unicorn," there are a whole sh*tload of videos on YouTube for you!!

Crap. There goes the rest of my afternoon.

And BTW - there were only 4 in stock when we ordered 2 the other night!!
    Now only 3 . . .

    On topic:

While I haven't yet made up my mind on what I'll wear to the concerts, I did get in touch with my favorite techie to see about buying a new external hard drive for all the new Clack that I hope will be coming our way. He sent me to a site where you buy the innards (500 GB, $115) and the case ($45), which he says he'll put together if I make him some gingerbread cookies. Well, that sucker was ordered faster than you can say molasses and cloves. And on a related note, I bought some of these as part of my Get Rid Of Clutter campaign. They make me smile every time I open the pantry.

  4. Then we geeked out on "Dirty Dancing" one night, "Harry Potter" with Spanish subtitles... :lilredani: and "The Last Unicorn"...
OMG, The Last Unicorn is DD's and my favorite movie to watch together. Brilliant casting, great story. Nice music too, though I don't think they ever came out with a soundtrack CD. Who was it who did the songs?

I know I'm a Pollyanna, but I'm enjoying the discussions on marketing and what Clay sings and what people want to hear in two weeks (TWO WEEKS!!!!) and such. Clay will do what Clay can to make the music he wants. That'll work fine for me. I'm just sorry that the discussions are making some people unhappy. Maybe serenity lies is just scrolling through, as Playbiller suggests.

  5. Goodness knows I'm not everywhere on the 'Net, but the only place I'm seeing much talk about people hearing the missing album is right here. Some friends and I made up a game last summer, called "Clueless", that involved solving the mystery of the missing tracks. We had a layout of an imaginary Clay Mansion (Kitchen, Bedroom, Game Room), methods for stealing the tracks (iPod, wireless mike) and suspects (Kelly, Raleigh, Clive(!!!)) It was kinda fun to play until we heard about the covers CD. You can find the images HERE.

What's important to me now is that Clay's moving on with a new CD, that he might well have new songs already picked for it (RCA owns the old ones), and that he's gonna be singing to me in 17 days. Woooo Hooooo! Oh, and I get to hang out with the evil Houston Posse while he's doing it. It's tough to think of a better way to spend the summer.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY COUCH TOMATO!!!

    :RedGuy:

  6. My department chair, a non-fan, wandered into my office yesterday and saw this poster up on my wall:

    163330624-M.jpg

She commented on how lovely it is (and it IS!) and then reminded me that she was in the audience at the AI5 Finale and how stunned and amazed she was with how well he sang. And that from a non-fan. I don't think she's heard much of anything since then except from me.

ETA, the poster is credited to CDD.blogspot.com. Whoever you are, you are awesome.

  7. Dayum...that picture got me into a writing mood:
From your lips to god's ears . .

ETA: I guess I'm going to have to give Clay a call. That Nov. 6 date just doesn't work for me. That's the week of our big fall conference in Denver.
Most big cities in the west run flights to Vegas pretty much every hour on the hour. One could probably slip away in the afternoon to go to the show and catch an early morning flight back to Denver. Just sayin' . . .
  8. No wonder Clay resists writing songs or downplays his own writing contributions. He writes one song and now some fans want him to spend all his time writing and working on his music. GEESH.
I think it's the nature of a fandom to want to experience more. That's what fans do. If he tours, we want more stops. If he sings, we want more songs. If he's on Kimmel for 7 minutes, we want 10. He blogs, we want more blogs. Yeah, we're never satisfied, but on the whole, I think that's a good thing.

I'm reminded that the alternative to love is indifference. "He wrote one song. Nice." with no further encouragement to write additional songs would be a bad sign for the fandom and for his career.

    JMO, YMMV, etc.

  9. What in the world is this? Is there a text behind the balloons? If there is I can't read it. It's cute, but I'm not sure what it means.

    :ballon:

It's Russian. The resolution is so poor I'm having a little trouble reading it. Which wouldn't help anyway because, although I can still read Cyrillic, I don't know what it means. I've blown up the image and sent it off to a Russian speaking friend. We'll see what he has to say.

  10. Oh lordy, the hands!!! I want to do another montage with the 'new look' but I need to find another song with 'hands' in the title. If'n anyone knows of a song with those lofty requirements, let me know. :)

When he starts caressing the mic, it does baaad things to me. Likewise, the running of the fingers through the oft-discussed hair. *sigh* He's a very sensuous man. Gifted in sooo many ways. *rawr*

This Hand is Your Hand, This Hand is My Hand

    Er, sorry. Let's try again.

    Beautiful Beckoning Hands

    Careless Hands

Clap Hands And endless variations. OK, maybe not . . .

Daddy's Hands OK, maybe not that one either.

Get a Little Dirt on Your Hands

    Hands Knees and Booms-a-Daisie

It's just a start, but I'm sure there's a keeper in there somewhere. And now I have to head to the family reunion. Happy Memorial Day, y'all.

  11. I wasn't home to see the performances last night, but I read the producers made a song choice. What happened to Clive? :em0200: Too busy plotting doom and destruction? Is even he put to sleep by this year's final 3?

Pokes Clive with a stick and screams "Wake Up you wizened old bastard!!!" into his ear in hopes of provoking a heart attack... :mallet:

It won't work 'coss he's already dead. As someone suggested somewhere, it's like Weekend at Berney's: they just haul him around from one place to another and pretend he's still alive. Look for someone's arm up his back and into his head, making his lips move.

Eeeewwww, I just grossed myself out.

Re the board personas vs. the real personas: Artquest, my board persona, is a better person than I am. Part of this is that the Internet gives me an opportunity to practice that better person thing and part of it is the reality that I may find myself at a concert, sitting next to someone I might have slammed. Not a pleasant thought, so I don't slam. Even when I receive astonishing PMs from people who think they're god's gift to the Clay fandom. It also helps, A LOT, that I can edit both posts and PMs. It gives me a chance to calm down and think things through.

Clay parties? I have a mostly non-existant memory for faces, so I'm grateful for the name tags. Plus the bling. (Waves to KAndre) Anything distinctive is most welcomed. I like my own Clay parties the best! The pre-Kimmel party in September was awesome. Because I hang out on a variety of boards, I had groups of people in the house who weren't even talking to each other. Or worse. Kinda like family dinners when I was a kid. Everybody behaved, though. Another time, we threw a pre-party in Vegas for the IT. We got busted by security at 5:30 in the afternoon. Our friends at the casino said we were the oldest group ever to get busted for being too rowdy. Good times, good times.
