  1. I was reading in another place that several people stated that the reason he has lost 3/4 of his fan base is because he has not progressed as a artist. What the hell do they want. I love this CD, maybe I am easy, but his voice is the best I have ever heard him. I like uptempo sounds but I do not need rocker Clay. I just need him to sing great songs and well, which he does.

Another reason they stated is that he changed since A1 and has become rude and a big diva. My thought is that he is five years older, and some change will occur. He stills has the same values he had then, and I am sorry but I do not see the Diva. His behavior as far as I see is always appropriate to the event. If he gets testy once in awhile maybe there is a reason.

If people want to leave that is their option, but to continue to spout over and over how he has disappointed them gets very tiring. End of my Rant.

Not progressed as an artist?? Pffftttt. I'm sorry, but anyone who says that is betraying their own lack of musical knowledge.

Clay rude and a diva? I think he has his diva moments, like many people do, but that isn't something new. He told a story on himself in the Rolling Stone interview, for Pete's sake.

Not leaving--that's the part I don't get. Why not enjoy musicians you like, instead of hanging around torturing people who are fans of someone you don't like anymore, or never liked. Waste of time.

Most of 'em are grown-ass women, and if they can't see that the bitterness frankly just makes them ugly (honestly - you come across some random bitter person, you don't care why they're bitter - you just want to avoid them. So I do.)

I have no interest in dealing with the segment of borderline strange and unhappy people of any fandom. Life is too short for self-inflicted misery, and to me, any and all stress about Clay Aiken (unless your are a member of his family or have a financial stake in his career) is totally voluntary. It is NOT something beyond your control.

    Yeah that.

LAA? Haven't really discussed it because I still haven't had my epiphany. I see it speaks to a lot of people - I just ain't one of them. It's just so...whiny to me. I don't understand horror of being "alone" - not beinging in a "couple". Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my relationships tremendously, but when they are over? I enjoy being independent - in fact, there's something in me that really needs non-relationship time - and guys who have approached me in the LAA mindset, I run screaming from. Lyrics are simply in general not that important to me - and it has nothing to do with feelings. I guess in my heart of hearts, I really believe talk is cheap. (and sex without a deep emotional commitment can fun. Just sayin'. Not for everyone - but some people really do)

I'm not interested in pairing up with anyone, seriously or for fun--had plenty of that in my life but I'm in a different place now--but I still love this song. And I'm a lyrics person. I think this is a case where I enjoy the song for the story it tells, even though it isn't a story that I can relate to.

OMG - this just bears discussing:

I was reading in another place that several people stated that the reason he has lost 3/4 of his fan base is because he has not progressed as a artist

This is the stuff that pisses me off. The out and out arrogance of anyone who makes this statement! Progressed as an artist? You mean like Barry Manilow? Or Josh Groban? Or fill in the blank with any rapper's name! Or anybody else that's been singing the same damn stuff since genesis? (And I didn't mean Genesis the group) If someone truly does not think Clay has progressed from MOAM to OMWH.....even the musically challenged and untrained Iseeme can recognize the change!!!! Bubble-gummish pop songs (don't jump on me - I loved MOAM) to mature, beautiful lyrics and renditions....

    :word:

I was reading in another place that several people stated that the reason he has lost 3/4 of his fan base is because he has not progressed as a artist

heh - this always reads to me as "he has not sung the kind of songs he needs to sing so that he can become the rock star I want him to be and that my kids will like so that I will therefore become cool by association".

Oh, so true!! Or at least that's the way it comes off. You have nailed it!

Sometimes, I think people mean he hasn't progressed as the artist they want him to be. So that means he hasn't define himself as an artist in their eyes.

    Yup!

The reason I'm here is because I know myself. I was weaned on the passive agressive style of TWoP and when I found myself posting that way on a Clay fan board I knew it was time to go. I was just part of the problem that was making life difficult for those in the middle. These days it's just more about this being my home now and enjoying it so much that I don't want to be anywhere else.

You are me, except that it took me a whole lot longer than you to get here.

Been gone a long time clay fans. Just wanted to add my 2cents worth. Think his latest CD is his best! It has a large variety of different style songs. Think some might think he is'nt progressing as an artist because he doesn't write his own songs. Frankly I don't care. I just love hearing that beautiful voice. Even THE KING(Elvis) did'nt write his own material and it did'nt hurt his career at all. I'd put Clay right up there as having what Elvis had, a BEAUTIFUL VOICE!

  2. I'll formerly set this up all pretty tomorrow..but just put where you''re going on this thread when you know. Then we can see if anybody needs touring buddies, decide which parties to go to, etc.

    Dear Couch Tomato,

Clay has another tour coming up this summer?

Do you think he'll be a guest on Idol this year?

    Thanks, Marsha

  3. The picture is from MyHeart4Clay from CV and here is her recap:

Hey guys! I was at the SCC concert tonight and I have a picture and a video. Just a warning, they aren't the greatest because we got there really late and ended up having to sit behind the stage because of the concert being general addmission, but hopefully it will hold you off until some better things come out.

Here is the picture (of course it is clickable) and then I will upload the video to youtube in a minute (well actually it has to be megaupload because it is to big for youtube).

I still can't believe he was actually there! You should have seen my friends and I when we heard the MC say "Clay Aiken is in the house tonight." I thought we were all going to have a heart attack. At first I thought they may just be joking around to see what the crowd would do. Thank goodness we were wrong! During SCC's set, we saw him walk into the backstage area. That got us even more excited! He was with a girl who we think was his cousin who was on tour with him this Christmas. Clay was taken to the other side of the stage from all the people who were watching the show from backstage. I said to my friend, "Wouldn't it be cool if Clay sang a duet of All About Love with SCC?" She was like, "Ya, but I don't see him singing since it is SCC show." I agreed because he usually doesn't want to steal someone elses thunder. About a song later, he started to walk up onto the stage a squat down in the back corner of the stage. Now I'm hitting my friend and just about hyperventilating and I'm saying "He is going to sing! He is going to sing!" Then SCC started singing a song that sounded familiar to me, but it wasn't All About Love. The next thing I know he is introducing Clay by saying "Everyone give a warm welcome to Clay Aiken!" The crowd goes wild and Clay comes out and starts singing. By this point I am about to have a heart attack and I finally realize it is the Great Adventure. I take a few pictures and then I realize. Hello, my camera takes video. I start recording and get the rest of the song and where he walks off stage. I tried to contain my screams, but at the end you will hear me scream because I just had to let out one big one when SCC said, "Give it up for Clay Aiken" and Clay gave his cute little bow and walked off the stage.

I have to admit that my fandom reallly had started to die down a little bit, but after this, I am back on the Clay train and I cannot wait for him to go on tour again! He looked so excited to be out there with his idol and to be singing on stage again.

This made the entire night worth it even the part where he had to sit behind the stage.

I hope you enjoy my pic and recap and hopefully the video will be uploaded soon! (I'm not sure if I can stay up for another 30 or 45 minutes, so it may not be up until morning, but I will see what I can do.)

Okay, I have to admit I'm clueless. Have'nt been following Clay since his x-mas concerts. What is this all about? Is this a concert you'll are talking about with StevenCC or was he on TV? What's the story? And do you think there's a chance Clay will perform on Idol this season?

What is the difference between clack and clank and what do they mean?

  9. Bringing my recap over from CH:

Well, I'm back. I have not read one word on the boards yet, so I have no idea what has been discussed already, but I just wanted to give some general impressions of the Merrillville concert while it is still fresh in my mind.

I didn't attend Waukegan, and I didn't watch any clack either, although I had listened to the cellcert. So when my party of 4 arrived in Merrillville after an 8 hour trip (with 2 unsucessful Walmart stops), we were kind of surprised that people were upset about the night before, and "the note". Heck, other than the one note at the end of AIW, I'd thought it was a pretty darn fantastic cellcert, myself. I will have to go back and watch the Waukegan clack when I get a minute.

Anyways, we met up with ldyjocelyn & HeidiHo at the hotel. We had a great time getting to know each other and devirginizing my daughter with the Tyra clack. Thankfully ldyjocelyn had managed to get her hands on a few extra AIW for us after all. We headed over to Smokey Bones for dinner, and then all piled into Heidi's rental vehicle to make use of the VIP parking pass (woo hoo! since it was freaking cold out). We went to check our coats and said hello to various meers in the lobby, including the lovely and now infamous geekette of the signed iPod. *g* Our seats were row H which turned out to be about 15th row from the stage, on the centre aisle. Absolutely fantastic viewpoint, because I could get a close up on the expressions using my binoculars, but a pretty much unobstructed full-body view without them. I have a bit of a foot fetish, so I spent a lot of time watching those huge shoes slip sliding away on the stage....I sure hope someone captured them on film, because I just loved watching them. Yeah, I know I'm weird.

I was just in 7th heaven for the whole show. To be in the presence of the Aiken after a year was almost overwhelming. I've never seen him more comfortable and chatty! He was truly amazing, and his vocals were just gorgeous. The hair is very different than I expected.....almost looks flat ironed, it is so straight, but it shines and falls just so....I loved it. Kudos to cousin Jamie if she indeed is doing the styling.

I'm not going to go into detail of every song and bit of banter, since it seems we will have full clack of everything (YES!) but the most memorable part of the show (aside from every single second of the banter) was, of course, AIW. In fact, everything from OCOCE on really just blew me away. The standing O after OCOCE was very spontaneous and cool, and Clay looked quite surprised when he turned around and saw us all on our feet. ldyjocelyn and I grabbed onto each other during DSIAFCD in anticipation of the glory note, and then we just leaped out of our seats and started screaming when he hit it. It was truly magical. During AIW, he showed such amazing focus and concentration on making each note just perfect. When he went up for that final note, the place exploded. What a moment! What an accomplishment it was, for him. I was truly honoured to be there to witness it.

    As much as I loved the concert, probably the most moving moment, for me, was being able to give Windtalker a bearhug following AIW. I am so glad she was there to be a part of it all. Huge thanks to beagle3 for coming to get me. {{{Windtalker}}}

Afterwards, we hung around talking to all sorts of people. Too many to remember to mention (and I'd hate to leave anybody out) but "hey!" to y'all....you know who you are. And then back to the hotel and fresh clack....some of which is on the two video cameras we had brought with us, shot by my daughter (aka crimsonice) and her friend (aka disneykid). Hopefully we will figure out how to get it off the cameras and onto the boards soon, thanks to help from the 4th member of our party, the lurking goldarngirl. We had a surprise visit from another lurker, atinal and her friend, who brought us some gorgeous Christmas ornaments....thank you!

This morning we stopped at the gas station directly across the road from the venue, in the hopes of finding a local paper with a review of the concert. A very nice lady there was helping me to look through every available paper (there were a lot!) and she asked who had played the venue the night before. I told her Clay Aiken. She said "CLAY??????" and clutched her heart. "I voted for him." Hee. She admitted she'd heard him a few times on the radio but had not bought any of his CDs. I told her to hang on just a minute, whipped out to the car, and grabbed my copy of ATDW. She was very excited (and strangely not surprised) when I handed it to her. We never found a review, but when I left she was clutching that CD to her heart. *g*

I was in the first row at Merrillville and I thought the same thing about his feet. First off they were gorgeous shoes and I never realized before now how big his feet are. What's the saying "big feet, big???????????" I think it was a magical show, Immanual made me cry. Had first row seats so I got to stare into that gorgeous face. In fact I was more concentrated on that than his music. I'll have to pay more attention to the songs when I go to the Grand Rapids concert.

  10. From Ch:

The conductor looks like tony bennet with white hair. With leslie neilsen humor.

Didn't the guy in the first row orchestra,(Indiana concert) playing violin remind you of Matthew Perry in looks? Both Waukegan and Merrrillville were good, although he lost his voice in Waukegan. I was in the first row in Merrrillville; Clay made fun of me because I was using binoculors! But at least I caught his attention!

  11. Thanks, play, for the download....You know, I wonder if Clay just tunes out the "AI runner up" preface to his name all the time. Drives me batty, but maybe that's just me. :glare:

Gonna go watch CSI...be safe, everyone who is traveling.....

Ooooh! Tomorrow night couchie and I are gonna listen to Clay sing purdy on the cell cert together! :trink4:

    Oh, wait...wrong emoticon....heh

    :bier: :club0: :me0: :voll::nanalove: :nana:

The right one MUST be in there somewhere!

Ya, that drives me crazy too, but 2nd place or runner up, he's still#1 to me! :P

  12. I'm quite new to this forum so please excuse me if i ruffled some feathers about the GMA interview with Diane Sawyer. I too thought it was a mute point, so why did she ask again? I could care less. I'm into his voice and his huge heart and couldn't care if he was purple with polka-dots. My point was why, after all this time do people still care, wonder or ask about it? I think it was in poor taste that Sawyer even brought up the subject. True Clay fans could care less, so why are all the other people still so pre-occupied with it? I don't have an answer for that, does anyone else?

  13. Clay is still under the thumb of Clive Davis, the record company and the American Idol production label. I think when that contract ends we'll see much more amazing things from Clay, including him writing and recording his own songs. I can't wait for that because I think he cares SO MUCH and has alot to say and contribute to the world. Anyone out there agree with me?

  14. Did anyone catch Clay on Jimmy Kimmel a few weeks ago? Thought he was so sexy and adorable! Why hasn't anybody broached the topic of him being gay, or do we not care?

Where have you been Marsha. It's been broached all over the media for the last 3 years. However I can only speak for myself, not "we." Unless Clay and I have a date this weekend that I don't know about I'd rather talk about his voice as that's why I'm so hooked.... ok and his sense of humour..and his sexy brain.

I totally agree. I could care less. His amazing voice and his obvious goodness is what got me hooked. But if he were straight, I'd jump him in a heartbeat!
