  1. My best friends named their first daughter Laiken

The receptionist at our office has a daughter named 'Laiken' (not sure if that's how she spells it--maybe 'Laken.') I always thought it was a cute name--I had never heard it before.

I'm going to bed early tonight which usually means one thing: a Clay blog. But since we had two this week, maybe not--but you never know--keeping my fingers crossed.

  2. And I personally think it was rude of Clay not to return her calls for 2 months (that of course may be an exaggeration....).

I think it very well may be an exaggeration. JMHO And how many times did Kim call him during those two months? Twenty times? Eight times? Twice? Once maybe? And did she call him directly or leave a message with his PA? Did he ever get the message(s)?

  3. You know I don't blame Kim for being pissed and I think she replied nicer than a lot of people would.

I disagree big time. I haven't had a chance to catch up reading all the posts, but I just want to say that I think what Kim and her publicist(s) did was extremely unprofessional and very unfair to Clay and Ruben. The interview with Billboard was filled with too many details for this to be a simple misunderstanding. And don't you think that before putting news of a professional commitment in a press release, one should have confirmed that the other party was firmly committed? I thought her blog was childish and petty. Talk about burning bridges! Why not just simply say, "It was a big misunderstanding. I jumped the gun." and be done with it.

  4. I don't think Top 40 is impossible for him with the right material. If the new album is what TC and RCA are looking for, I think there will be a big roll-out, built on top of the Idol Rewind, and a Clay appearance on the next season of Idol. It will be the 5th anniversary of Ruben and Clay and I don't think it will go by unrecognized.

That scenario gives me chills--I'd love to see RCA get behind this album--heck, I'd be (almost) satisfied if they'd $upport one single to radio so that it can go as high as Invisible on the chart, and that was considered a modest hit.

A Clay/Ruben reunion would be a ratings bonanza.

  5. Imitation of Life--definitely one of the saddest movies I've ever seen--I"ve seen it at least 20 times. But how about The Champ, people?! Not the original one--I'm talking about the remake with Ricky Schroeder as T.J. and Jon Voight as Billy. OMG--when Billy spent his gambling winnings to buy T.J. a horse! And later when he landed in jail, Billy pretended that he didn't want T.J. so T.J. would go live with his mother who had abandoned him when he was a baby. And that last tear-jerking scene--ooh, I get all misty-eyed just thinking about it.

  6. Sad songs? Yes, Bobby G.'s 'Honey' stands out as one of the saddest ever. And I love the Don McClean version of "Crying." Speaking of Don M., has anyone mentioned (I hesitate to say this) "Vincent?" I know--I know--but hear me out. That last line, "The world was never meant for one as beautiful as you" always got to me. I really used to love that song in the 70s. Of course the song is now tainted for me--I still haven't been able to watch the "Vincident" since it originally aired. It's the only AI Clack I skip over.

  7. hey Clayrev - I PMed you but you can remove the board name if you want by simply going into MY controls, Edit Profite information and replace the info with ---- or something snarky...anything can be put there. The only reason we need folks to fill in those boxes upon registration is to help us keep the spambots out.

    Welcome.

I went in and changed it--thanks!

  8. So many interesting viewpoints on this board. I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks and finally decided to join.

I'll be rejoining the OFC. Yes, it has a few problems, but, as was mentioned above, it's so much fun rushing over there when Clay blogs. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one day I'll win a M&G.

I used to visit the Barry Manilow official site--wow, talk about a great site--it has everything and then some. I'd love to see the people who designed that site do something with the OFC. Until then, I'm content to renew my subscription and eagerly await my fanclub package in the mail.

  9. Hello, everyone! I am clayrev1956--also known as 'clayrevolution' on the Clayboard, which I joined in 2003. I also post every now and again at the OFC and Clayversity as 'clayrevolution1956.' I'm also a long-time lurker at the Clackhouse.

I found out a while back that there's another clayrevolution somewhere (she sells stuff on Ebay) so I added the 1956 when I joined CV, but decided to shorten the name a bit here, hence 'clayrev1956.'

Clay had me at "Take." By the time I saw him sing DLTSGDOM in the Wildcard show, I was a goner. I had no doubt he'd be the audience's choice. And the rest is history.

I'm an Executive Assistant in our local government office, formerly a teacher (many years ago), single, and I live in the land of no-Clay: Louisiana. I've been fortunate to see Clay three times when our Louisiana Clay group traveled to Valdosta, Georgia for the JBT, Pensacola for the JNT2005, and most recently, Houston for the SRHP.

I found this board just a couple of weeks ago, been lurking ever since, and really enjoying the discussions.

ETA: Oops--Home Board and Board Name appears at the left, and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I tried to edit my profile, but to no avail.
