Kim left a bad taste in my mouth with her first CD and the duet with Clay; just seemed like it was done to get Clay fans to buy her CD and increase her sales and I hate that kind of manipulation. If they had done a duet on her third or fourth CD, I could see that, but on a first CD it just comes across like they knew she didn't have a big fanbase and wanted to tap into Clays and I think that stinks. It kind of makes me sad that some of you think those of us who are truly upset by this news are a form of amusement; I find that rather disrespectful of our opinions.

then Canuck said it better than I could

Kim I think this whole thing is hilarious but I don't mean it as disrespect for your's or anyone elses' opinions. I just always find it a hoot how Message Boards go crazy over rumors and speculation and it was a given that THIS particular bit of rumor (or fact) was going to cause some major explosions.

That's what I was trying to say but didn't say it so well. I've been on the boards for so long, I can almost predict what will be said. And yes, the boards are a form of amusement for me, but not the feelings of the posters.

The more I listen to 'Without You, the Duet', the more I think that it was originally a song for Clay and he gave it to Kim. I listen to it and I think it showcases his part more than hers. Maybe they recorded it for MOAM, but Clay decided to give it to Kim. We don't know. It doesn't seem as if it fits on MOAM, but Clay does have the better part of that song.

Thanks, Playbiller. I always wondered if Ruben's weight had anything to do with his health, but walking pnuemonia is not something to let go and not treat. Poor guy.

  2. I was at Wolf Trap and I remember the 'incident of the ice', but I don't remember what song it was before. I didn't think anything of it except that it was a bit unprofessional of Angela to run off the stage, she should have just kneed Clay where it hurts :cryingwlaughter: Now that would have been a sight to see. I keed, I keed. What did Clay say about the Glory note in Solitaire? Something like, 'this is what they want, this is all they want'?

Muski, you and I attended a lot of the same concerts and we haven't met????? I think I was in either the 12th or the 15th row on the left side. Hmmm.....

    What's DCAT stand for?

I do think that Clay tones it down when Faye is in the house. Just a bit.

So others may be thinking of songs like that when talking about a rockin' Clay.

Yes, you got it in one!

Hee! I just called jmh to get her reaction to the Reunited Tour. I'm a b-a-d fan because I think it will be funny to watch the boards implode. Not that I'm making fun of the people who really don't want that tour, but we have almost zero information, yet I can just see it now, posters all over Clay Nation will be kvelling, angsting, and celebrating. There will be discussions over the marketing, the promotion, who gets top billing, how much time each will have on stage, will it tie into a TV Special, Clay once again being tied to AI, how it will impact his new CD and his tour to promote that CD, yada, yada, yada.

I'm not that big a Ruben fan, but I LOVED Kim when I saw her in Raleigh and if done correctly, I think the Tour could work very well. I'd go. As some have said, maybe a limited tour, maybe for charity, who knows? I kind of don't think it will happen, but we'll see......

YSRN, should I bother to take this to CP or did you beat me :cryingwlaughter:

To me a waste of talent would be singing songs that don't utilize the voice - so the tempo doesn't matter to me as long as the songs is king over the beat.

See, I don't even need that. A lot of my favorite singers haven't near the voice that Clay has. When he sings ballads or mid-tempo songs, I do like his voice to be front and center, but rock songs? (I hate the term 'up-tempo') No, I don't need the perfect voice. BFM is a good example. That song was not a vocal showcase but I loved it. 'Invisible' is not a vocal showcase, either but both are a good example of a song that doesn't need stellar vocals, however I do like to hear Clay sing songs like those. A good mix of ballads, mid-tempo and rock would make a nice varied album.

I am one who thinks that Clay wants radio badly. Can you blame him? Look at some of the crap that gets played today. Even some of the better stuff, like 'Beautiful' or 'Have a Bad Day' (of course YMMV on what's good *g*) is all the kind of music that Clay could sing. I really don't see him being boxed into AC or even Hot AC. I agree with Desertflower on this...I think he could do very well on Top 40 with the right songs for him and for the audience. Even Kelly's 'Breakaway' is the type of song that Clay would kill on.

I'm sure there will always be those that think he's being forced to do what he doesn't want to do because what he's doing isn't what they want him to do. If you get my drift....

Jamar is a vera, vera wise woman.

Well, I finished mowing my lawn, but! I was multi-tasking because while I was mowing, I was also slow dancing with Clay while he sang into my ear, 'What are you doing New Years Eve?', then he mocked me because I wouldn't let the Clack skip around, then he let me sing along with him for 'Invisible'. It was a good afternoon :hubbahubba:

  4. I tend to DL the first several concerts, then the parts that I like best for the rest, then the entire show of the ones that I attended. I very rarely go back and watch past concerts so why do I save 80 gigs worth of them? *scratches head*

I guess I'm going to have to watch and only keep my favs. Of course, I just can't force myself to hit that delete button when it comes to Clay.

Awwww, jmh is grumpy and a bit out of sorts. :big hug:

Back to mowing my lawn. I can fantasize that it's Clay mowing it in 90 degree weather, shirtless with sweat dripping off him, then, I hand him some lemonade (ala 'Witness') and watch him drink it as it trickles down his neck, as his Adam's Apple moves up and down when he swallows, then he hands the glass back to me and our fingers touch. Then he eye fucks me, then he reaches towards m.....*slaps self* Back to reality.

  5. My home board is Clayton's Place, which is a take-off of Peyton's Place. We've been described as 'irreverently intelligent' in some article. I don't know about that, but we have fun and we've made some really close friends on that board. We're small and we're not the typical Clay fan board. We'll mock and make fun of the haters and we don't censor any conversation, especially the ones that most boards do.

  6. Yay, Karen Eh? for your NJ two-fer!

    I'll be at:

    New Brunswick

    Red Bank

    Morristown

    Easton

I got REALLY good tickets through the ofc pre-sale for Morristown.

Meh, Scarlett is small, I'll just pack her in my purse and get her to Jersey.

    *waves to Songinmysoul*

  7. I think Buble is smarmy. I just don't see it, but I do like 'Home'.

I've watched AI from the very first minute it aired. I was channel-hopping and happened across the first episode and thought, 'who the fuck is that British guy?' and continued to watch. I remember really liking Kelly and Justin and thought Tamyra got robbed.

Eagerly awaited the 2nd season and when Clay walked out, I honestly thought they planted a ringer. Then he opened his mouth. My friend and I called each other up and exclaimed 'did you hear that guy's voice?'. I loved Clay but I fell in lust during 'Solitaire' and I felt like I was contributing to the delinquency of a minor because he looked so freaking young.

Thank God he grew up :lmaosmiley-1:

Of course, the older he gets, the older I get. Life's a bitch.

    Clayzor, I LOVED AI!Clay!

  8. Karen Eh! asked:

Does anyone remember what the camera policy was the last time Clay played Easton, PA?

My hometown. You sure you want to know? Jojo was sitting about 4 seats away from me in the 18th row off to the Quiana side, no aisles anywhere near us and Jerome busted her. Yep, all the way b-a-c-k in the 18th row, surrounded by a multitude of fans. There's not a lot of video from Easton. Good luck if you're planning on trying. I think the Chelsea Orchestra was playing with Clay there.

No Clay dreams last night, sparse bushes or not.

  9. The pictures. The avi's. The .gif's. The dreams. You all are killing me here. I've always wanted to slow dance with Clay but I never imagined putting my lips on his throat quiver. *ponders* Yep, I can get on board with that.

I've only had two Clay dreams. The first was when Clay and Jerome pulled up in front of my house, got out of the car and Jerome says to me, "Clay wants to see your bushes". So we walk to the back yard to the patio, which was not connected to the house, it was just this 8 X 8 slab of concrete set right smack in the middle of an otherwise barren lawn with a few scraggly shrubs half heartedly planted around it. Jerome and Clay walk around, look, thank me, then leave.

The other dream? Clay and I were standing in my kitchen, talking, and he took hold of my hands. He leaned in to kiss me and as he did, he slowly put his arms around my waist, all the while holding my hands so they were being held behind my back. He started to kiss me and I woke up *curses the deities*

Those happened about three years ago. No dreams since then *pouts*

  10. Humpf. It's freaing impossible to catch up! I'm trying, I swear.

Sad movies: I was a young teen and at a sleep-over and my friend's mom let us stay up half the night watching movies. We saw this movie called "All Mine to Give". I don't know who is in it, but we were sobbing like babies at the end.

One of my favorite movies of all time? Jaws. It's a wonderful character study.

How the hell am I supposed to explain to my family that I wanna go to a Clay weekend right before Christmas?

Explain? Just go, have fun, and let the chips fall where they may.

I have yet to see any Godfather movie. Never saw the point.

Blaspheme! Parts 1 & 2 are two of the best movies ever made, with part 2 being better than part 1.

Aww, Clayzor laughed at my 'FU, CD, parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6' blogs. Sometimes it's good to get a rant out at a place other than the message boards.

Gibby, your avatar is freaking fascinating. I pause at your posts just to watch it for a minute or two.

Couchie......come to NJ, come to NJ.........

For all you Trekkies out there, obviously not a Vulcan nor an android.

  11. I only wore those blinkies ONE fucki freaking time! And they were porno blinkies, they were not AW'er blinkies *stamps foot*

Poor JMH and lilyshine were so concerned for me, rubbing my back, asking if I was OK. Hell yeah, I was just freaking schmoopie that night.

ETA: shady, I LOVE your siggie. One of the best Next Gen episodes EVAH!

Picard's naked ass is f-i-n-e. Yes, yes, I know that I should be more concerned about the message of that particular episode, but the ass rules, yo!

  12. Star Trek conventions? I attended the VERY first one held in NYC. The neatest part was that the stars all had hospitality rooms and we could just wander in and out of them. I absolutely LOVED Jimmy Doohan. He was funny and kind and sincere and welcoming. Nichelle Nichols was an Earth Mama wanting to take everyone back to her hotel to party. Shatner, of course, did not have a hospitality room, he gave a lecture to 300 of us and he was funny. It was beneath Nimoy to attend at that time in his life. And while I'll always love TOS, I'm a TNG girl. See new siggy.

Crying over sad songs? Not usually however, Clay made me bawl like a baby in Clearfield. He was singing YWT. Now I'm not a religious person but I freaking love the way he sings that song. Towards the end, I started crying, then Clay comes back out with TITN. I bawled like a freaking baby, big, hacking sobs. Although that's not a really good song, it's Clay's first professionally recorded song *ignors OTWOL* and it brought back memories of the AI2 Tour and everything. Then he's singing 'Invisible' and I'm bopping along to the music and bawling my eyes out, then he goes into 'Solitaire' and yep, still bawling my eyes out. I also think 'Merry Christmas, With Love' is very sad.

Of course the song is now tainted for me--I still haven't been able to watch the "Vincident" since it originally aired. It's the only AI Clack I skip over.

Ahh, but Clayrev, if you listen to just the audio, Clay sings that song awsomely!

Farouche, I don't usually read fanfic, but one of your stories was the very first one I ever read and I was freaking hooked! It was about three years ago on RHT and had about 50 chapters and took place in kinda real time. Your characters were so alive and the story line so believable.

Couple of old photoshops. I don't know who did them:

Arms and hands and crotches, oh my!

Watching the trummy makes the time fly!

He's so freaking gorgeous he makes me cry

What's that wet shit leaking outta my eye?

    *ducks*

Now EVERYONE knows that I'm not a poet.

Very interesting conversation today. I remember being shocked that some internet fans thought Clay was gay because I never got that from him during AI. It wasn't until I read some other opinions that I could see kinda why they thought that, but it was all based on stereotypical behavior. And I hatess stereotypes.

    Thankful4Clay said:

Remember what the geeky kid looked like in Atlanta? Did he scream 'gay'? It was the AI hair and makeup people that did that.

And Simon Cowell, don't forget that wonderful example of manhood.

In 2003, when I came out at work as a Clay fan, I used to get mocked for liking him, some people used to come up to me and tell me he's gay in that ugly voice that one hears. At first, I'd get upset and try to defend him, but of course that didn't work. So, what's a girl to do? Whenever anyone said anything degrogatory about Clay, I'd look them in the eye, smile and say, "I just love his voice. I just love him. I'm having the time of my life". No matter what they'd say or how many times they said it, I'd just smile and repeat that phrase over and over again. Eventually shut them the fuck up.

After a while, some of those who were the most vocal came up to me and told me that they envied me and the good times I was having, attending concerts, meeting up with internet friends, traveling to different parts of the country to party with other Clay fans. You see, Clay put a smile on my face and a spring in my step that was missing BC and people noticed. Since discovering Clay and the fandom, I actually feel younger than my years and I love that feeling.

    *360*

OK, if I'm being totally honest, I'll tell you my deep, dark Clay confession. I hatessss his hair this tour. I want the long hair from Christmas 2006 back, or the KTLA hair, or Martha hair or Tyra hair, but the 2006 Christmas hair? Is the absolute bestest hair EVAH! Gah! I wanted him to grow it even longer! I wanted it to flow past his collar to his collarbones *dies* Add in the stubble and I was a dead woman. In my fantasies, I wanted to run my fingers through that hair. Grab it, and wrap it around my hand while I.... *slaps self! Where was I?*.... Back to reality. Then I read in one of the M&G's that Clay didn't like it that long. Killed my fantasy dead.

  14. What's really stupid is that even when people copy and paste Clay's blogs on other boards, I still don't feel like I've seen it until I read it for myself at OFC. Yep, I'm nucking futs.

Yep, that's me, too. I have to read them on the ofc and I actually read a few of the comments, too. And I always have to leave a comment. I know he doesn't read the comments past the first several, but still....

I will rejoin the ofc. I managed to get 4th row tickets during a pre-sale for two concerts, and a second row dead center PIT ticket. I usually don't luck out, but this year, I did. I keep hoping for more contests. In fact, I've posted a few ideas there that I think would be wonderful prizes with no skin off Clay's nose. And the M&G's. I've never met Clay. Sometimes I don't think I want to meet Clay, but none-the-less, I click on those M&G buttons quicker than that butt string ncgran mentioned. I just wish the audio/visual section was put to better use.

  15. Here's what I'd rather feel:

    SRHP2007_PhillyPA_071707_SLC_PreWIS.jpg

*sputters as all coherent thought flies out of my head* Ahem, you were saying?

*nods knowingly* The Tampa fax, ah, yes, I know of which you speak. As if RCA doesn't have anything better to do.

Oh, man, I can't stop looking at Clay's torse. I used to be all about the shoulders, but his torso has overtaken my shoulder fascination. Guh, what a picture. It's now my desktop wallpaper so I can stare at it for all eternity. Damn that tee shirt for being in the way.

  16. Couchie asked:

Have you ever done something and then a split second later realized you shouldn't have done it but it's too late.

    Heh. Yeah.

Claygasm, I'd quote your entire post because it encapsulated everything that I feel.

    What's the Tampa fax?

I don't see people saying they want this or that as demanding. I don't see the "experts" trying to steer Clay's career as much as they are just expressing themselves or yakking about this or that aspect of this ride from the place they know -- their experience.

YSRN is so smart, isn't she?

As far as Clay going in a CCM direction, that would be hard for me to follow but when I listen to his demos, the only song that I can't tolerate is 'In Not Of' because the lyrics celebrate the superiority of the 'chosen'. I love the music, hate the lyrics.

As far as the fans go, I'm pretty much a laid back kind of person, I'm not nasty to others, I like a healthy discussion, I like reading opposing points of view, I think diversity in the fandom is a good thing, but if anything turns me off following Clay on the 'net, it will be the posters who send the nasty PM's, the posters who, no matter what, are convinced that they are right and try to convince everyone else that they are right.

    fuckem and foregetem

I can understand the fuckem part, but the forgetem part? ain't no way I'd ever forget doing that with Clay.

I was e-mailing Rockysmom yesterday. We're going to four Christmas concerts. We are also very lucky that we live in Clay Land. She told me to stop her from going to Poughkeepsie, so I e-mailed her, 'Don't go to Poughkeepsie'. Then I watched this special on PBS about Bethlehem Steel and it's demise. The very end focused on an old steel worker walking out on his deck and overlooking the silent steel mills. His parting words: "I never thought this would happen but it's gone and it's never coming back". So I told her to GO! Go see Clay as many times as she can because some day, God forbid, he may not be there anymore to see.
