  1. Ha ha, have a great time Karma! So happy you can be there! Well, I survived the weekend in Collingwood....that makes 3 weekends in a month, I'm about done now. So glad my mom sold the place and we are finished. I saw the Elvis festival while there, and discovered a cool new singer/songwriter named Darren Evorglens. He does a variety of material, but bumped up his Elvis content to compete. He will not impersonate (i.e. look the part) so he has no hope of ever winning, but it's gaining him a lot of fans. His voice is quite unique. Google him and check him out! 3 more weeks until I head to Maine.

  2. Well I had an eventful weekend.....drove 3 hours up to Collingwood (north) to finish packing up my mom's summer place, loaded it all into a U-Haul with the help of my ex & two sons, drove it to Toronto where we unloaded it into her other home, then drove back home by 10 p.m. Woke up Sunday morning and had a serious case of dizziness that lasted all morning. No idea what that was all about, but glad it passed. Spent the rest of the day enjoying the glorious weather, since the humidity has finally left us. This is what I remember summer feeling like when I was a kid!

My son Ian (25) dislocated his finger a couple of weeks ago while sliding into first head-first during a baseball game. We spent 3 hours in emerg that night, only for them to declare that nothing was fractured, so they just popped it back into place and put a splint on it. They said he would hear from a plastic surgeon within 10 - 14 days. Well, he didn't, so he started calling the hospital the other day and finally got someone who admitted that no referral had ever been made. He now has an appointment with a surgeon on Wednesday morning. He has almost no movement in the finger right now, so I really hope that this delay has not damaged it further. His season this year is over, no doubt, but my hope is that the surgeon thinks that she can repair the ligaments and give him back full functionality so that he can play again next year. He has played baseball on a team every year since he was 4. It's what he does, it's his passion, and something I have always been a part of, to the point where I am usually the only parent there now, amongst all the girlfriends, wives and babies. ;) I am going to the appointment with him.

  3. What a perfect world it would be if we could all attend every Clay event and not have to worry about finances! ;) I honestly didn't think I was going to be able to swing Joseph in Maine on top of gala in Charlotte this year (not to mention Raleigh for Drowsy Chaperone in the spring), but where there's a will there's a way! Especially when you can travel & room with friends, making it more cost effective. Thanks for figuring out the Charlotte hotel, Karma!

  4. Hope you had a great special day, Fear! merrieeee, I started canning last year, but it's still too early in the season here for anything to be ready yet. My zucchini and green bean plants are starting to flower, and I have a few small tomatoes starting. But we're having a cooler summer than last year, so things are doing quite well. Today is Canada Day, but I am just staying home and taking it easy. I am also dreading the start of the fireworks tonight because my dogs will be in manic mode for hours.

I love, love, love that YMCA picture!

ldyj, I hope you have a great cruise!

  5. gbmifan, I didn't know people were having trouble picking their seats for gala.....I am still in the old mindset of the tables. I keep forgetting it's a theatre type venue now. I am also planning to buy the "cheap seats". That phrase always makes me laugh, because for me $250 is anything but cheap! But of course, I realize it's for charity. I have not yet been able to buy my plane ticket yet, but hope to do so soon. I have a reservation at the Marriott that is cancellable if necessary (i.e. the flights are too expensive).

Not much going on here lately either. No big projects this summer, other than my gardens, which are doing quite well. I have planted 3 varieties of green beans, cannelloni beans, two types of zucchini, cucumbers, leeks, hot peppers, lots of different herbs, 5 different heirloom tomato plants, 3 varieties of beets, 2 of chard, romaine lettuce, and I just picked the last of the arugula because the weather has turned hot. I have strawberries/raspberries/black currents but not much there so far. I think they may take a few more years to really produce. This coming weekend i have to head up to my mom's condo up north, as she has sold it and it needs to be packed and cleaned out prior to renting the U-Haul truck and moving the furniture to Toronto. That doesn't happen until the end of July. I am really looking forward to going to Ottawa soon for the McCartney concert. :)

  6. Just checking in. So proud of you couchie for doing this weight loss program, and it's great to hear that your work place is getting behind you too. They are doing a health initiative here as well, with incentives. I think it's the way of the future (at least I hope so!)

Nothing much new with me, same old, work, kids, cats & dogs LOL. I will have to renew my OFC membership soon. Strange that they aren't sending out notifications.
