  1. If anyone wants to bring links to articles over, it would be appreciated. I just won't be able to keep up otherwise.

    My favourite part of his video was "I’m not a politician, I don’t ever want to be one.". :P

    ETA: Ok, I'm bringing this one over because I didn't know this.

    Former state Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco and Durham attorney Houston Barnes previously announced plans to seek the Democratic nomination in the 2nd District, but Barnes said Wednesday that he will step aside and put his support behind Aiken. The 2nd District seat is now held by Republican Congresswoman Renee Ellmers.

    <snip>

    I have gotten to know Clay and a friendship has formed. I like him and I have gained a deep respect and admiration for him," Barnes said in a statement. "At this time, my stepping aside to forgo a damaging Democratic primary is vital to taking this seat back. We must unite to take this seat back from the extremists who continue to hold the middle class hostage.

  2. Hell has frozen over....Clay Aiken made the local news here in London, ON, Canada. I was driving to work and all of a sudden they started talking about him, about his announcement.....I think "Washington is dysfunctional" has kind of got people talking. I hadn't even seen the email yet, but I just read it and watched the video. The facebook link isn't working for me, though.

  3. I don't think I can pick a favourite memory, there are just too many. Each one is unique and special in it's own right and other than that last gala, I regret none of them. Clay brought my daughter and I closer together, at a pretty crucial time in both our lives. For that I'll forever be grateful, and of course for the many wonderful friendships I developed too.

    Ldyj, that was definitely a cool moment in Chicago, and you guys were sitting right beside us! It almost felt like he was talking to us. ;)

  4. I was one of the lucky ones. I only missed one tour. But yet I feel like i was there. So to feel like it is ending, and on a note that leaves out the one thing that brought us all together, that sense of community is a bit sad. It's the very fact that people can't afford to go that makes it harder to know that this time, it just won't be shared and it's pretty much over for the foreseeable future.

    I didn't miss a tour, but otherwise I agree with this 100%. I'm not mad at him, I don't take it personally, I don't think he owes me anything, but do I like how it ended? Not really, no. I also kind of wish I hadn't attended gala, because that is not the event I want to remember as my last. So I choose to remember Joseph instead, because that was a high note to go out on! I can't even begin to describe how glad I am I went to Maine, and also how glad I am that I went to NC for Drowsy Chaperone.

    I think I kind of started backing up a bit a couple of years ago, sensing that the Clay stuff was going to get sparser, so I developed other interests...some old, some new. I never really envisioned it ending completely though. This now makes two of my obsessions (yes, I freely use that word) that have chosen to change career paths. Just goes to show that you should never put all your eggs in one basket, I guess.

  5. No Fear, I don't think NBC would ever show the Canadian Nationals. However you can watch the programs online. Let me know if you want me to give you some youtube links.

    We got another 4-5 inches over night and the wind is whipping it around again today. Windchill is -22C. My son made the mistake of coming in at 5:30 a.m., just as I was getting up for work. Guess what he got sent back out to do before he went to bed? LOL But as a result, I made it into work today without getting stuck! ;)
