Happy Birthday Aikim
-
ldyj
And Happy Anniversary Aikim! (your DH sounds like mine!)
-
That sounds like a good plan Lucky! I might copy that one. Its a lovely day here. This morning we all pottered in the garden and now I have pizzas in the oven for lunch. I am still getting over the flu -its a really bad one - but at least I am ok ish in the day now.
An afternoon with some clack sounds good.

Shortyjill!

Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Hooray for the weekend is all I can say!!

Whoa is right! Some people just don't have that "Line that shouldn't be crossed" do they?
-
Hello everyone.
Have a good trip Lucky - I love spur of the moment road trips - and gbmifan - I admire your fitness and zest for all your sports.
Fear - I hope your sons trip goes well - is there ever an age where you can stop worrying about them?
Hey jmh - Doesn't sound boring at all, I love to hear what everyone is up to.
I have been lurking most days but have been laid up with a fluey-type virus for the last week. My DH got it first and surprised me by agreeing to see a Dr as soon as I suggested it. Normally he won't go until hes ready to fall down so I know he was feeling bad.
As soon as I started to get it he kept telling me to see the Dr but I kept saying I wasn't really sick enough and I couldn't very well say "I know I've just got a cold now but I think I'll be really sick next week!"
Anyway next week came and I have some strong antibiotics (for the chest infection) which are making me pretty nauseous and am trying to deal with the prolonged coughing fits through the night. Hey its one way to get the week off work right?
I am trying to keep away from the kids but they'll be lucky if they don't get it. I have stopped preparing the food so some interesting meals have been served but hey ho nobody starves!
My elder son is having exams and assessments - he hasn't long to go now until he is finished high school. We put in his university application on the weekend. He still has no clear idea of what he wants to do, but at least has a plan of sorts.
My younger son is going very well at school and put in his selections for his senior subjects a couple of weeks go. he has discovered a love of the "business " type subjects so will be doing Business, Accounting and Legal Studies along with English Maths and History. He wants to study Law and Business at Uni. That is still 2 years away, so we will see how it goes. But I am glad that he does seem to have put some thought into it.
We got some sad news last night. DHs' grandmother passed away. She had not been well for the last week or so and was (I think) 95? She has had dementia for the last few years so didn't really know us when we would visit, but would have good days and bad.
My Dh will probably travel down with his Mum for the funeral next week. It's a 3 hour flight then a 5 hour drive, so its good she won't have to do it by herself.
I am looking forward to the Gala and Concert reports and still buying my lotto ticket!

Cute boy Aikim. I bet he has his Grandma wrapped around his little finger!

Wasn't that big torch thingy spectacular? And a nice sentiment. I loved it. (weepy sentimental fool emoticon?)
I missed the first half hour - slept in - it started at 5.30am here.
<==== I love this emoticon, thanks for using it Ldyj

Kandre and Crazy!!

gbmifan!!
I'm with you on the Olympics Couchie.
Its funny my Dh is a sports fanatic and will watch any sport over all other programmes & he is not that excited but I told him that every four years is just enough for me!
-
Craziness? Well I could say I flew halfway around the world to see Spam twice......
But truth is we were coming to the US anyway and boy was I excited when I realised that we would be in NY for Spam!!!
I did however spend something like $1000 AUD on 4 tickets to each of Spam and Wicked before we left home. Could have been a bit more but I have blacked out such wanton extravagance from my memory!
I was worried we would miss out - rookie mistake. The night before our booked tickets DH took the boys to baseball and I hit the TKTs booth for myself and strolled on in. Big deal for me strange city, subway etc by myself. I only wish I had not been too shy to strike up a conversation with others in the crowded foyer. I was eavesdropping on people all around and I am sure they were all there for Clay.
Oh well, I'll keep buying those lotto tickets.

Happy Birthday Carolina Clay and Scarlett!

Belated Happy Birthday to jmh & Kimiye!
I remember when we got our first pc and the sales guy for the ISP saying "200 GB per month? You won't be able to use all that!"
Of course, it was never enough.

Cute Kids Couchie

Oh that is a very nice picture!
Theres something about a man in a plain black suit with a white shirt and black tie - nearly any man looks good in it. Not that our guy doesn't look good in other things - you all know what I mean.

:wetkissf: Hi FCA
Beautiful day here, clear sunny and cool. I have just filled up the clothesline and soon we will start on some fence painting. I love pottering about the house - no set plans - no place to be - days.
From the little bit I have read around - wth?- think I'll just stay in my happy -FCA -place.
Have a good day.

Hey Lucky and Fear I feel your pain on the learner-driver thing. My ds1 has his learners permit but I am leaving the actual driving for "father-son time".
I am a nervous driver at the best of times and really dislike even being in the back seat during a driving lesson! :o
Come to think of it, my ds2 is needing some teeth extracted before his braces go on in a week or two and he is a super nervous patient (think throwing up and actually fainting) - I think this too would be excellent father-son bonding............hey worth a try!!
-
Happy Birthday Couchie!
-
Congratulations grandmagbmifan!
Gee, only 36 miles that first day! I get tired just reading the distances you ride!
-
Whew, just finished getting audited (banking) - one branch got 97% and the one from today got 99% - so yay for us!
I'm a bit giddy still with relief, until the next time of course.
That Steve guy seems like a good guy. Yay for the NIP!
I started watching the storage wars show and I think the other one is American Pickers? I just know they would encourage hoarding - all that promise of hidden treasure. I have to be strict with myself to combat my natural inclination to "put things aside for a rainy day".
It's been quite cold here and windy too but still sunny so I hope that continues for our Queens Jubilee long weekend. I have a thrilling weekend of fence painting and garden pruning and spraying lined up! At least it's an opportunity to get some Clay-on-my-ipod-time.

ITA Calurker - those fun house mirrors follow me around!
