  1. Well, I can pretty much guarantee that I will be all alone at FCA when I admit this, but I HATED the "boobgate" picture. Still do. If someone posts it, I can't even look at it- have to scroll ......FAST! I don't consider myself an "angel-winger" by any stretch of the imagination, but I am clearly more prudish than some........ a lot of......... ok, ALMOST ALL of the posters on the boards that I have frequented over the past 4+ years! It makes it difficult to find a home where I feel comfortable. For me, if that had been a picture of, say, Justin Timberlake, I would have thought,"Ugh, gross!", so it was very hard for me to put away that initial reaction just because it was Clay. I wondered at the time if it was just "my generation" , and that in this day and age that picture would be more acceptable to those younger than me. (I'm 46) But, I found that many fans older than me loved the picture and didn't have a problem with it either, so I was left with the fact that it was just....ME. :( Don't hold it against me!!! (Although if Clay wanted to hold it against me.......)

Holding my breath and pushing send........

laljeterfan You are not alone. I didn't care for the pic. And I am not an "angel-winger" either. I am a left-winger though...one of those bleeding heart liberals..and all....HA!

Lowdown: Aiken, Cdn. producer See Eye To Eye

North Carolina pop crooner Clay Aiken calls Canadian Jaymes Foster-Levy "absolutely wonderful." The runner-up on 2003's American Idol and the best-selling artist from that season has been working with the sister of acclaimed producer David Foster (Josh Groban, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion) on the follow-up to 2003's "Measure Of A Man" and they have been taking their sweet-sounding time.

"We have been in the studio throughout the past four or five months," says Aiken, who is taking a break from recording for his second annual Joyful Noise Tour, which launched in Vancouver Nov. 2 and ends with a pair of shows in Florida, Dec. 29 and 30.

"She used to be at Warner Bros ,and went out on her own," says Aiken. "It was a match made by my management company. We interviewed a number of people to see what gelled and what didn't and she and I got along famously, so we decided to work on this together. She's absolutely wonderful and she and I see eye to eye on a lot of things."

While the Foster-Levy divides her time between Victoria, BC and Los Angeles, says Aiken, the two have been working in L.A. The album is the first proper follow-up to his post-Idol rush job, 2003's Measure Of A Man, which went multi-platinum in the U.S. and sold 167,000 units in Canada, according to Nielsen SoundScan. He also put out "Merry Christmas With Love" last year.

"The last album ('Measure Of A Man') was something that I was proud of in the sense of' Wow, I have an album,'" Aiken says with a laugh. "So it was cool for that, but there were some songs on there that I did not necessarily connect with, songs that talk about being lovelorn and full of angst because someone wronged me -- and I don't know anything about that. I didn't know anything about that then; I don't know anything about that now."

Although Foster-Levy had experience with the Popstars television franchise when she was an executive at her brother's now-defunct label, 143 Records, which took a similar approach to Idol in that the album was practically ready-made no matter who won, she's fully behind Aiken's choice not to rush-record this new studio album, according to the singer -- and there's no reason to.

Now that his success has been firmly established, they are sifting through the best song submissions, something Aiken didn't have a chance to do on "Measure Of A Man" because it was so important to strike while the iron was hot and the TV fan-base still there.

"More important than what it sounds like is what is says to me," Aiken says of the next album. "That's why we're taking our time. I want to make sure that what I sing represents something that I know something about and I feel. Some songs we find and we said, 'That is it. We're gonna do that' and so I've gone and recorded them. And then there's been some other ones where we've gone in and we've liked the song a little bit; we wanted to change it some and see if we could make some modifications.

"So it's all up and down, completely across the spectrum, where we are as far as each song goes. Some have been recorded; some we have been listening to submissions and we continue to get them daily."

Still, in his quest to forge the direction with which he's happy, he's won't be co-writing any songs as many singers are wont to do after first-time success and freedom.

"I'm not much of a writer," he admits. "A few lines I can pull off in a song. I know there is a lot of people out there nowadays who say they've written a song and that means they've written a line or so. So it may be possible that I'll go in and change a line or two, but I don't think it's fair to take credit for writing songs, if I just change the line (laughs).

"So I'm not really going to do any writing, but we've taken our time and focused on finding really good stuff and, as a result of that, we've found a lot of stuff (laughs), so the problem now is trying to figure out which songs make the album and which don't, or do we want to put out a larger project or multiple projects, or do we want to do the best of the best? So right now, we're in this quandary, exactly what we've found do we want to go with."

When Aiken reconnects with Foster after his tour concludes, they will get down to picking the final track listing, but he still won't be swayed to put a deadline on it.

"We'd like to have the album out in the first half of next year, and I know that's a very broad time frame, but more importantly than saying we want to have it done in January or February is saying that we want to make sure that what we put out is something that I'm proud, and that we're all proud of, all the people who have worked on it," says Aiken. "So I'd hate to say February and then we realize we should take some more time on it."

  5. Well, with any luck, I will have a kitchen by then. So that will mean I only need new rugs and some paint and I will have an acceptable house. I know one person who will be coming up here. I wonder how many times I can afford to see this play?

The ticket prices pretty much show why broadway can't sell tickets?

Since this is only available to the members, doesn'that mean a l;ot of people are breaking the TSU to post about it on boards?

Clay stated that the press release was hitting the wires 30 minutes after the posting of the news on the OFC. So, I didn't find any harm in posting a one sentence statement that confirms his appearance. I did not post the entire announcement nor the blog. If there is a problem, I apologize. Couchie, please delete my post if you find it necessary. I meant no harm.

  6. Just for the record, once again, I LOVE Back for More. I was really sad when it wasn't on the album that became ATDW. I'm just not going to make myself miserable over the fact that it was recorded by someone else, especially under these circumstances. I think I'd worry more if I were a Loverboy fan (a guest on their album is !! Def Leppard !! and their lead singer is an !! artist and musician !! who !! wrote every song!! on the album) when he's been caught in a baldfaced lie over a pretty big deal in the music business, the claim to be writing one's own songs. And on top of that, the song was performed first by Clay Aiken. I mean, CLAY AIKEN. I think it's kind of funny myself. These are the guys of the era that ATDW honored with all those 80's classics. And one of those bands, multi-million sellers in their time but now virtually unknown, ends up picking a Clay Aiken song to put on their comeback album. It's hilarious. All it says to me is that Clay's critics are full of shit, six ways from Sunday.

I love the song. And I can see how it went to this band, trying a comeback album with a similar sound. It's a delicious irony.

About a week ago I saw a blog that lamented the loss of BFM and Rock! Star! Clay! in the same breath as they said LAA was the Best. Song. Ever. That's a delicious irony too.

One man can do both things, but not in a music world in which one of these songs is more likely to be heard than the other, but neither is really "contemporary". There's really nothing wrong with the fact that people like songs like BFM. Did I mention that I love it? Or that most people might not want to listen to LAA every hour 16 hours a day on the radio. But I couldn't forgo LAA for 10 BFMs. I would not rather have Clay be doing a Kelly Clarkson to his voice and singing about butts at the cost of hearing That Voice. I would not. But neither have I ever thought that I'd seen the last of a singing, dancing, acting dorky to the fast songs Clay.

I interviewed Def Leppard in the 80's... :cryingwlaughter:

    Great guys by the way...

  7. If this bio is correct, Davis has four children, and one is female. So lmf could be his daughter. Hee! Or maybe I am. :cryingwlaughter:
My proudest moment as his daughter is when Daddy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.... :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Since you posted this at OFC, has someone approached you with a plan to bump Daddy off so that a Clay Aiken fan could inherit the keys to the kingdom?

I posted my opinion of BFM on the OFC, not that I was Daddy's little girl....for the record.

  8. Is this really a big deal now in other places?

Hmmm....let's see. Clive STOLE Clay's hit song and gave it to someone else so Clay HAD to say he didn't like it to save face. Poor helpless Clay. Evil Clive wins again. That's the vibe I'm getting anyway.

    ---

I didn't believe it would be radio hit or that it was given great consideration by Clay, Jaymes, and RCA.

I agree lmf (can I call you lmf? *g*)

I thought it was a fun song in concert but to just listen to it? Meh. Nothing special IMO.

    Of course, no problem... :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Personally, I found the song (BFM) to be GAWD AWFUL and I will take a Richard Marx cover over THAT any day of the week.

    But, that is just me..

  9. I stated my opinion on the OFC that I didn't believe it would be radio hit or that it was given great consideration by Clay, Jaymes, and RCA.

But of course... I work for Davis and I am his daughter. HA!

And you haven't given up any freebies? Whatsamattayou? I thought we were friends!

    *************************

    Oh no, acrophobia, V-E-R-T-I-G-O

Come on now, you KNOW that Daddy is all about the bottom line..no freebies! HA!

  10. Okay, please help me because I'm not going to search out the angst. Do people think this is going to be a big radio hit ..... for Loverboy? Is that the issue, really? I may be wrong, but the last time I remember Loverboy having a hit was sometime in the 80's. They were big and had a couple of huge albums, but I remember it being about 25 years ago.

I stated my opinion on the OFC that I didn't believe it would be radio hit or that it was given great consideration by Clay, Jaymes, and RCA.

But of course... I work for Davis and I am his daughter. HA!

And of course...BFM could spin its way to the top of charts. HA!

  11. Hmmmm....

    How Clay Lit My Fire...

    Dear Playgirl Advisor,

I never thought this would happen to me!

Clay (who for the purposes of this story, has been hired by Finger's Furniture to personally deliver all my purchases) knocked on my door last Christmas Eve. Since this is in Houston, it was like 87 degrees outside and he was wearing leather pants and a muscle shirt. Clay said, "Ma'am, since you paid extra for the bearskin rug demonstration, where do you want it?" I quickly flung the cats into the back bedroom, sucked in my belly, and said, "Right here, big boy".

Clay rolled it out. I was impressed.

I then signed the invoice and he was on his way.

Although I am not into perving or adult material, I have purchased Playgirl Magazine in the past due to great interviews of music legends such as Jagger.

  12. I am not into the physical aspects of Clay. I don't perv.

BUT since AI Rewind is the big news, I will just say this...

I want her everywhere and if she's beside me

I know I need never care

But to love her is to need her everywhere

Knowing that love is to share

Each one believing that love never dies

    Watching her eyes

And hoping I am always there

    I will be there.........

  13. I have not responded, although I have continued to read, because I thought Couch Tomato told me not to.

However, since so many of you gave your opinion and I feel I started the whole thing, I do feel I have a right to say something too.

If anyone thought that I was being judgemental about Claygasm herself, I apologize. I thought I was asking a clarification of rules. And I thought I asked it very politely. If that was not the perception by some of you, again I apologize.

On the one hand, I found it impressive that the "old time posters" seemed to "circle the wagons" around their friend whom they understood from past experience. However, as a newbie and an outsider, it was a tad uncomfortable being on the outside of that circle. To be clear, I didn't feel trashed, just on the outside. I wonder if any of you can see that perspective?

I really see how this huge quick growth could be problematic for this board. I personally thought the discussion that followed my question was quite adult and respectful. Lots of different opinions were given. Although I don't agree with your response, Couch Tomato, I will respect it. I won't question again.

Only 11 posts and I already "stirred the turd".

I tried to think through this post very carefully. I think I did alright. Hope it is taken as intended.

I don't really now where to begin and truthfully don't get into the fray much but I was a bit offended and like you I can say what I think....

    .

The fact that the members here protect each other is why most of us are here in the first place. Respect is a wonderful quality in people...

If you are going to be judgemental you have to understand where people are in their life..

I'm a newbie, altho a post ho, I think it's wonderful that so many diverse opinions can be heard..

Don't disrespect Couch Tomato because you will find the wagons circled by all who reside here..

O.K. rant over....mods delete or spank me whichever you prefer!

I didn't join this board for protection. According to your fact..I am the minority of this community.

And I won't participate in the circling of wagons for Couch Tomato as I am of the belief that she can handle any type of disrespect she faces.

  14. I often give great thought prior to posting my thoughts. I rarely submit in haste.

But, I have most times than not...the feeling that I am unable to articulate or express myself

    without being misunderstood.

I never stated that Kim was 100% responsible for this situation. I gave credit to her, her management team, label, and Billboard. I will take the heat for posting my thoughts, but I honestly don't believe that I even implied that she was solely to blame. Is it possible that Billboard published false statements attributed to Kim Locke...I personally, highly doubt that action took place.
