I am of the opinion that Clay over sang UM and yet it is my teen daughter's favorite all time Clay performance/song...she prefers it over Invisible, Broken Wings, Touch...

Blake deserves to go. IMO. I love Melinda's voice. She's the best vocalist. Jordin would gain the most (or lose the least). Clive has Whitney and JHud already--he will have no clue what to do with Melinda.

Clive will mandate her to record a covers CD...HAHA!

Clive's baby is Alicia Keys..so, I don't know what he would do with either Melinda or Jordin as neither are unique ...at least Fanny is unique. And yeah...David Foster and Clive are in the process of getting Whitney back on track if her voice isn't shot...

ETA: Blake is brutal. Jordin is a good singer. Melinda is a very good vocalist technically, but not unique.

This is the worst season so far in my opinion. Not one unique vocalist in the bunch.

I agree that his voice was marginal...but dayum, guys! That youtube clip of his original performance showed 1967 as the year---holy shit! That's 40 freaking years ago! :o So that makes him what---mid 60's or so? Shit. I think he looks pretty danged good!

As for doing BeeGees' songs? Go back to AI2 and listen to the group performance. They sound so good. Then go to AI1 and listen to them slaughtering the BeeGees.

I'd still pay good money to hear Clay do the whole version of To Love Somebody....and say what you will about the red jacket, vocally he was right on that night with Grease.

I agree. I would pay to hear a full Clay Aiken version of To Love Somebody..his vocal styling and phrasing during his AI2 performance was a masterpiece.

What I don't understand are the assumptions that Clay has a 3-album contract and that he's in a position to leave RCA. I've been reading that a 7-album deal has long been standard in the industry, but that California a few years ago passed a law limiting recording contracts to a 7-year maximum. The 7-album contract usually extended from 10-15 years and was considered an unfair labor practice. I'm assuming that since Clay signed with RCA and 19 in California, that they signed him for 7 years. They don't have to release records, but they can make sure the artist doesn't record elsewhere.

I believe Clay inked the deal in NYC. And even if he had a 3 album deal with options, the 200,000 ATDW units sold in the first week would guarantee him another effort under the existing label in my opinion.

I have yet to view one single indicator which would guide any individual's thought process to believing that Clay is not at the present time a RCA recording artist and that his next effort will not be recorded under the RCA/19R label.

And I don't believe for one second the unsubstantiated rumor that he and his big guns in suits entered Warner Bros to deal....but that is just me...AS IF Clive Davis is a non-factor...non-entity...SERIOUSLY...

Wonder how many FURCA pins I will be viewing the night of my evening with Clay...ROTFLMAO!

The faction of RCA haters are stressing 'cause Clay remains a RCA recording artist....figured an implosion would most likely occur after the Kimmel stint....

jmh123 - TITN remains my favorite Clay recorded track, although EID and RHW KILL ME. Clay is seriously mad talented. Even today, the clack of TITN in his hometown during the AI2 concert series, is the greatest footage of Clay on stage for me. In my opinion, Mac produced a beautiful love song without cheese...and Karlsson's guitar work is fabu. Clay's phrasing is brilliant. The memories associated with TITN ...weeks of a grueling competition and on finale night..yeah...Clay sings his flipping face off! HA! #1 Billboard Hot 100 chart..without SPINS..HAHA! I love TITN.
