  1. Good Lord, I forgot to give jmh a hug! My bad...

    Anyway...

This is kind of how my job feels sometimes. I guess I haven't mastered this skill yet, but I think others may feel the same way around here. From The Onion, one of my most favorite sites ever:

Manager Achieves Full Mastery of Pointless Managerial Jargon

BWAH!! I have half a mind to send that link to my bosses' boss, who has the lingo down, too, but I'm afraid she wouldn't take it the right way!

    :cryingwlaughter:

Hugs to jmh, lucky and Couchie. :thbighug-1:

  2. Great news, annabear! Woohoo!!! How's it going with getting settled into your new abode?

I'm so happy for those of you going to Spam in the near future. It's so fun to get recaps from people you know! And I can vicariously enjoy a bit of Spam. It's not the same as being there, but it's sure fun to enjoy the excitement and visualize all of the silliness and hawtness of Clay in Spam!

  3. Thanks for the recaps, lucky! I'm going to miss them when Spam is over.

Good luck to everyone braving the cold today. It's reallllllly cold here, but bearable with a warm coat and a good car heater. My daughter, who is hoping to get her driver's license soon, is just learning to drive in the snow and ice. Now that's scary. Sitting in the car with her driving, slipping around, not able to do anything about it - YIKES!!

    :yow:

  4. CG - the trick to wearing high heels is to have the right high heels, the ones that don't hurt your feet. But if you only wear them a couple of times a year, it doesn't seem worth it to invest the time or money in finding the right ones! I hope you're able to sit a lot tonight, and have a good time in spite of the heels!

And by the way, the pic you posted is making me want to have a temper tantrum.

    Why??

    CUZ I WANT HIM!!!!!

    AND I CAN'T HAVE HIM!!!

    GAH!!! HE'S SO HANDSOME!!! :hubbahubba::smokelots:

    IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!

    :abuser::scream::cry4:

  5. Thanks for the ETHS youtube links. I downloaded it from the vault, but it kept stuttering and stopping when I tried to play it. Finally just deleted it from my computer. :(

kf, I'll have to say, "ditto!" to your impression of the show. Yeah, there were some facts they didn't get right, but it was overall extremely positive. In fact, given most media coverage of Clay, it was shockingly positive. I'll take it, even if it was low-budget!

I've been enjoying all of the Spam recaps! Thanks to luckiest, Scarlett, Thankful and everybody else for sharing their memories! :BlowKiss: I'll have to enjoy Spam vicariously, cuz I won't be going again. Sniff.

But I DO have Clay's wonderful CDs and clack to enjoy. I love listening to the AIW EP in the car when I'm driving around. I can never listen to AIW once - have to listen over and over and over! There are so many songs that show Clay's vocal prowess, but this one takes the cake for me. I get chill bumps every time!

  6. OOlsee, what a funny cat picture! Where do you get them??

Glad it gave you a chuckle. I spent waaay too much time yesterday looking at funny cat, dog, and 'fail' pictures.

For example, as a Clay Aiken fan, I liked this one:

    1170049831402.jpg

    Hee!

Heeeeee! Thanks for sharing that link. There are some really cute and funny pics on that site!

Have a great time Luckiest1 and I hope the sky it clear while you are there because tomorrow night will be the biggest and brightest full moon of the year.

    Full Moon

I look forward to reading the recap of your enthusiastic response to Clay's and the cast's performance .

One of the pieces of music on Reed's My Space is by Muse. On their webpage that song has received over 8 million hits.

I had no clue who they were until yesterday.

I really like some of Muse's songs! Particularly Supermassive Black Hole.

Well, I am having serious withdrawal symptoms...have not seen Clay live since last Christmas and if he does not tour until summer; it will be almost two years! I am really missing not having a Clay concert this year...it has become a tradition. I know some are tired of the Christmas shows, but I love the Christmas season and I love listening to Clay sing Christmas songs.

    Kim

I was really sad a couple of weeks ago about not seeing a Clay Christmas show this year. It helped to listen to AIW over and over, and then to be involved in a local Christmas show a couple of days ago. But I'm gonna be in serrrrrrriousssss withdrawal if he doesn't do some kind of concert tour in 2009! There's nothing like concert!! Clay!!

  7. Ok, just have to EEEEEE some more. *g*

I just printed my boarding passes. EEEEEEEEEEEEE! One more boring meeting, a couple more boring hours, and I am outta here! :dancingpickle:

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! I'm so excited for you. And I can't wait for some fangirly reports!

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Clay is on my local radio! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! What song were they playing?

And another EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! For Smitten! So glad to see you over here. Pull up a chair and stay awhile, okay??

    :welcome23:

I'm not gonna buy Star, but I sure am happy that the article is positive this time, even if half of it is made up stuff. It's pretty stupid in my book that they'd first make fun of Clay for being a closeted gay before he came out, and then celebrate his relationship with Reed.

Ah, well, I'm not gonna dwell on it. There's too much to celebrate - Clay's a Daddy, he may be in a relationship with a hawt guy, and he's had a great year on Broadway. I think that deserves another EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

... this post brought to you by the letter EEEEE. :)

ETA: Looks like I need to add another EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE for seeing toni here!

    :welcome22:

  8. What? Did no one enjoy the Doghouse?

And another OT item which I couldn't resist posting Smile in the Sky

This photo taken Monday night at Brisbane shows the moon, Venus and Jupiter forming a smiley face. The website where I found it is the Astronomy Picture of the Day.

My hubby showed me the doghouse clip a few days ago. He laughed hysterically about it, and was quite eager to show it to me so I could laugh, too. We went to the doghouse website, and the comments there are pretty funny, too. People either loved it or hated it, and there's quite the argument going about it. Heeeee. Some people took it rilllly seriously, and were mad about reverse discrimination, or painting women as bitches, etc. etc. One woman said she was going to show it to all of her friends so that they, too, would boycott JC Penny! No matter, we thought it was funny!

Incidentally, my hubby had already bought and given me diamond earrings for Christmas, and was very proud of himself when he showed me the doghouse clip!!!

Good luck with the ipod mess, muski! And CONGRATS on saving your company so much mooolah!!

  9. GREAT stage door video! :hubbahubba:

Thank you for the link! It is so nice to start my day with an ICG.

Let's see, Chris Seiber said he was worried when Clay came out because his fans were so possessive and demanding, and that made some folks mad, because Clay should've told Chris that only a few fans are possessive and demanding. So someone said, well, really, look at how some of the fans did react...it was pretty bad. And the next thing you know, a bunch of folks were being possessive and demanding. :hysterical:

I don't know whether to laugh or cry about this. I think you hit the nail on the head, jmh!

Off to the salt mines . . . I've been feeling rather grateful to have a salt mine to go to lately, with the way the economy is going!

  10. WHEW!! I've been reading and reading and reading here to get caught up. Took longer than I expected, because these ridiculously gorgeous pics kept popping up in the thread, and I HAD to stop and drool. Stubble! Sexy hair! Killer green eyes! Sexy smirks! I think you people are trying to kill me.

    *snip*

And I know that when I told my husband about the leaked People cover, I appreciated his first words, "Good for him!" but I kept very silent at the next ones, 'I KNEW he was gay." I kept quiet because we'd already had this conversation---remember, Gibby, in that bar in NYC after the show last March? I made the argument based on the same premise in justclay's post that I bolded. My husband was then and has always been of the opinion that Clay's gay and that he just hadn't come to that place where he wanted or could declare it to the world. Yeah, hubby ended up being right...but I didn't like that he felt so SURE of it, you know? :glare:

Yup, muski, I remember. Incidentally, my husband strongly suspected that he was gay, too.

Holy shit, I lie like a dog all the time.

I told my friend I was happy for her when she married a man in prison.

I told another friend I liked her soup (the one the dog wouldn't eat).

I told my sister I thought it was perfectly normal to wear a life jacket when driving over a bridge in their motor home just in case the motor home goes over the bridge and into the water.

I told my neighbor it was just fine that he left a toilet sitting in front of his driveway for 6 months.

    Who the hell doesn't lie????

    BWAH!!

*ignores all the depressing OMGLIESLIESLIES talk*

    WHOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!!

I got an A on my first 8 page+ history term paper! And my professor said I'm SMART!!!

    YAY!!!!! Congrats!!!!!! Way to go!!!!!!!

And I'm ignoring the 'OMGLIESLIESLIES' talk, too. Instead, I'm gonna post a few gorgemous pics:

ETA: Thanks for bringing the recap over, Cotton. The last picture is particularly lovely! I've always liked Clay's profile.

  11. Oooooh, bottle, thanks for sharing that MOST yummy picture! I, too, LOVE AIW hair.

That's why this drawing by Linda Huber is my favorite drawing of hers. It's the only one I bought:

    lindahuberwow.jpg

And he was soooooo handsome when he paired that hair with a beard:

    galasmile.jpg

Happy birthday to Clay!! My birthday wish for Clay is that his career develops in whatever way he wants it to do so from this point out, and that his personal life is happy and fulfilling.

    :hb2: :bdayparty2: :hb2:

  12. Having just come back from my second viewing of Twilight, I have to say I think that "dude" is kinda hawt, yeah. And that Clay Aiken fella is all kinds of hawt, too. I really don't stress about makeup or hair at all. In fact, I often wonder wtf people are seeing becoss I have to go back and look again. He usually just looks great to me.

Thanks to all for bringing over the Spam reports. Less than two weeks until I'll be writing one!

I agree lucky! Robert Patinson was smokin hot in that movie!! After reading teh book and the casting choice I wasn't sure he'd be 'pretty' enough. But I loved it!!

I thought that Rob Pattinson was smokin hot, too. And I think he's quite yummy in many of his promo pics, notwithstanding the hair!

Heeee, Clay's blog was cute. Wonder how many people who are going will actually have a chance to read it before they go? Seems to me that many are probably in transit. Ah, well.

I laughed that he was blogging just before he had to get in place for the show!

  13. My big thrill today was finally figuring out, with some help, how to put videos on my Nano. So now I have the Gala songs on my IPod but I want more, more, I tell you.

So..can anyone recommend a free programme that converts wmv into an mpeg4 so that I can d/l and carry around some of my favourite montages.

There are a lot of programs out there, and I know Scarlett, Thankful and lucky have all used different ones. They may have some good ideas for you. I use the Im TOO MPEG Encoder, which converts to and from just about any kind of file. That link is for a free download, but the free version only allows 3 minute clips. I paid for it because I like it so much.

You can also get LOTS of mpegs from the vaults.

    Have fun!!

  14. cindilu, CONGRATS on going back to school!! WTG, girl!!

I'm glad you had a good time at Spam, CG. Thanks for the recap! It is sad that Spam will be over in January. The beginning of the year seems to be racing here - it's already almost the end of November!!

I'm eager to find out what Clay might have up his sleeve for his next adventure. I miss him, since I haven't been able to go to Spam the second go-around. He may take a break for awhile, but sooner or later there will be more news about what's up next!

  15. :cryingwlaughter: :cryingwlaughter: :cryingwlaughter: Those kind of pics of snow covered car and trees etc always remind me of one of the funniest stories I ever received via email probably about 7 years ago. I am CERTAIN everyone has already seen this story but in case there is just ONE person who has NOT yet seen it, it is worth repeating for them....

This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will, in the future, likely think before she speaks. What happens when you predict snow but don't get any.... true story...

A female news anchor who, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked....

"So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?" Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard

BWAH!!!! Yes, I've heard that before, but it's still verra verra funny!!

Aw, Wanda, I'm so glad your kitty returned to you. I'm guessing that you'll never hire that pet sitter again! And too funny about your 'bargains' with God. Good luck with that! :)

Heeee, muski, an eggplant? Leave it to you . . . :cryingwlaughter:

I'm happy today because I can actually eat a little bit! YAY! Maybe my stomach will be completely back to normal in time for a Thanksgiving feast!

  16. Whoa, that's not cool. I was thinking while I was watching (and trying to ignore the various audio effects from both young and old in the audience :glare:) that I'd like to see it again withOUT the distractions. It wasn't an "OMG! What a GREAT movie!" movie for me...and the book was waaaay better, but it was okay. Loved the fast-Edward running with Bella on his back- scenes!

I agree, muski - I want to see it again at some point, when I'm feeling better, and don't have all of the noise distractions. I might like it better! And I agree, too, about the book being better. I think that's usually true of books that are made into movies. There's always more detail in books, and more opportunity to 'hear' what the characters are thinking and feeling. Plus imagination about what's happening in the book is a wonderful thing, even better than what can be brought to life on the movie screen.

Thanks for the pats, clayzycoffin. I'm gradually feeling better, and hope to all better by sometime tomorrow. I think it was just a 24 hour flu bug, with bad timing!

Heeee, merrieee, that's quite a list. :cryingwlaughter:

annabear, congrats on getting moved into your new place! How cool that OMWH came on for you!

  17. It's interesting to hear your thoughts about Twilight, lucky and muski.

I went to see Twilight last night with my daughter and her best friend. Unfortunately, by the end of the movie I was feeling seriously ill (not because of the movie) and went home and worshiped the porcelain god all night. I'm sure that colors my reaction to the movie, which is rather tepid, like the reviews. I thought that the acting got better as the movie progressed, and that the directing and flow of the movie could have been better. But I liked it well enough to see it again, hopefully when I'm feeling better. Perhaps my feelings about the movie will be better on a second viewing.

At any rate, it looks like it's on track for a big opening weekend gross, which may help to give the next movie a bigger budget. I do think that some of the problems with the movie may have been solved with a bigger budget.
