  1. And if he doesn't look like the cat who ate the canary 5 oz. swallow.

    Wait. Was that smut?

Well, in my mind it was :whistling-1:

What I find fascinating is that TMZ chose to lead with the very best pic of Clay at LAX! Now that's a first. lol

    Slurp :flirtysmile3:

eta - And no, I don't believe that was Reed in those pics. The guy was holding a camera. Besides, it just.doesn't.look.like.him. heh

I'm pretty sure he is back in NYC rehearsing for his BB show. Just a guess of course.

  2. I love this write up on the new CD! Posted by notacanuck at the CC -

This is an Examiner article (which anyone can submit material), but it appears to be written by two guys really into music. They talk about anticipated music releases for next week and Clay's album is the first they talk about.

Clay Aiken Tried & True (Decca)

This is Clay's fifth studio album, and it features classic songs from '50s and '60s. The American Idol Season 2 runner-up does have a great ear for good melodic songs. To wit, Tried & True cuts like "Cant Take My Eyes Off You," "Moon River," "Crying," Herman's Hermits' much-under-appreciateed "There's a Kind of Hush," "Suspicious Minds" and "Misty." Aiken also includes two songs he made his signatures on Idol: "Unchained Melody" and "Mack the Knife," which are the perfect vehicles for his soaring vocals. Congrats, Claynation, your idol will be out on the road with Ruben Stoddard this summer.

IN OTHER WORDS: Love his style or not, Clay's a great vocalist, and these terrific selections are right up his alley.

    Sneak REVIEWs ANTICIPATION RATING: 8.7/10

  3. :hello: All!

I would apologize for being away for so long, but I already know you really don't care!

:smack: Of course we care! Ok....who are you again? hee

    Thanks for EVERYTHING, Pink!!! :BlowKiss:

I wanted to jump in on the Beatles Love also. I was seven when I had my first crush and it was on John Lennon :flirtysmile3: I am, to this day still, a Beatles 'Ho. There will never be another ensemble like them!Their sonwriting, harmonies, charm and humor will never be duplicated IMO. I try to see Ringo in concert every chance I get too.

I think he is coming to the bay area again this summer, so if anyone here is interested in going please let me know!! :)

  4. Ok, so regarding the GMA rumor, here is what cablegirl posted at CV -

Someone on an email list I'm on is on Faye's daily email list and she listed in her email today that

"Clay would be on GMA on June 1st and The View on June 2nd and that was all she knew right now."

I asked her if I could pass it on; she said YES... and so here it is. I imagine at some point the OFC will list something.... right?

Could be. If so, great. But I really did want to see him as one of the Summer Concert Series performers but oh well.

    Yeah, I know....never satisfied! :whistling-1:

  5. The PBS thing in Texas didn't happen?

Apparantly not. This was posted by Pink at the CH a day or two ago -

Interesting...I just heard from a PBS colleague who is attending the conference in Texas -- I had contacted her this morning to ask if she had seen Clay, whether or not she got to meet him, etc. She said he wasn't there at all...that they were given DVDs of the sizzle reel and CDs but there was no live performance. She said Clay had really wanted to be there but had a schedule conflict.

So all of the tweets we saw from attendees about Clay must have been referring the sizzle reel alone! Fascinating.

and also from the CH...the woman who was there to perform and blogged about Clay also being there posted this in her blog today -

    dear LORD

my blog gets an average of 25 hits a day.

    yesterday? 778.

today? almost 400 already. good lord!!

bellaria was (we think) a hit. after the pressure was off we hit some bar in austin till about 3am with the canadian tenors and celtic thunder. i didn't pay for any of my drinks (thanks, guys).

what an adventure!! i cannot wait to have the mental capacity to blog about it!

edit: i have since determined that the reason my blog got so many hits is because of my mention of clay aiken. a fan of his must have found my post and it got distributed amongst his fan boards very quickly. still, that many hits for my blog EVER is pretty disgusting. love it! and i never saw mr. aiken, though as you can see in this post i did get to hobnob with some of the other performers at the conference!

Now the other woman who tweeted about how HOT she thought Clay is and wished him a safe trip home it turns out may be a make up artist and so perhaps he was somewhere making an appearance or filming something but nobody knows where or is saying. It's all speculation right now. I just hope all is well! I, for one, am more than ready to start to get sick of Clay Aiken!!

  6. Am I really the only person who is finding it exceedingly weird that we are 10 days away from a new CD release and the man is nowhere to be seen or heard? Yes, we heard second-hand about an appearance in Texas - but seriously. It's ten days away. I'm not even expecting talk shows or any of that - but nothing? At all? For three months now? Weird. Sure would be nice to know he's at least as excited about it as we are. Or that he's, you know, alive.

:whistling-1: Nope! cindilu2, you're not the only one!

I have been stowed away in "the angst car" for a few weeks now. Surely they do have a PLAN. I hope a very BIG PLAN. I just wish they would let US in on it :smack:

Though I think I'm now beginning to be a bit more worried that there may be something amiss with Clay. I'm sure ( I hope ) I'm wrong!! But it seems odd that the last 3 possible appearances (LKL, QVC, The PBS Convention in Austin) Clay was thought to attend strangely did not happen. I hope he/his family/everything is ok!:wub:

  7. From Pink Armchair -

Hey, everybody...I've been asked to clarify this, although most of you have probably figured out that I tend to approach things with levity. The part of my original announcement of the Chicago broadcast about "threats, groveling, etc." was a JOKE. I thought that was obvious, but perhaps not.

Clay's special was not in any way a hard sell or a charity case. In fact, TPTB at my station, I think, were interested from the get-go, especially after I described it to my VP of pledge accurately as a "fantastic show that should pledge very well." It was a no-brainer for him. Just wanted to make that clear.

This post may travel and I hope it does! Back to the salt mine.

    (bolding mine)

  8. KF I stupidly read the survivor boot list and that ruined it for me because all my favorites left kinda early. So I never really got into it. Watched off and on. I'm happy about the winner LOL. I'll probably watch tomorrow night but please no more allstars.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Sandra to win! But I haven't been "spoilering" myself and will be happy with just about anyone winning that's not named Russell.

Hey Couchie, do you think your mom will let us listen to Clay debacle us sing to us all the way to Reno? :whistling-1:

  9. I want to see him, too. But I don't remember Clay going on the shows three weeks out. More like the day before, the day of, the couple of weeks after, and then for as long as he gets bookings. Seems to me that it's better to have the product available in the rush of promotion.

kf, I hear what you're saying and I totally agree. But my one concern is that we do normally see/hear of these appearances well enough in advance/prior to the tapings or live shows. I know folks are usually scrambling to get tickets and make travel palns to be there at the tv tapings weeks before, once he is scheduled to be on. So since we have absolutely none, zip, zilch, nadda such info being posted I'm worried that we won't have any :cry4:

At the very least, none to get the first week's sales off the ground with the genral public. Fans not on-line as well as the NJU. Besides, I'm a selfish bitch and I want Clay to be all over my TV ASAP demmit! So needless to say I am verrra verrra anxious to see/hear about it :needclay:

There are millions of gay people all over the world who convincingly portray straight people every single day. Some of them are even actors.

    :hysterical::hysterical:

I love Clay with my whole heart. Love the direction he's taken with this new album, I love his "look," and I love that he's going out on tour with his good friend Ruben. Just call me "simple," OK?

    Ok. Luv ya, simple

  10. I can't believe that Clay won't be all over my TV in the coming weeks.

I would love to see him on Kimmel, of course. I watched JKL last night and the skit with Michael Bolton was freaking hilarious. I also want to see him on Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Fallon, Letterman, Lopez, you name it. And the morning shows, GMA, Today, The View, Tyra Banks. An hour with Larry King would be nice. Even though I'm not a big Larry King fan, the man does love the music of the 50's and the big band stuff, as I recall from his many years on radio and "Duke's Place".

Yep! The Lack there of has me scratching my ass head foh shoh!! Why oh why is he not popping up everywhere?!

    Ooh wait.... :hubbahubba:

    Ok, I'm back.

Ah well, I guess what will be, will be....now I'll stop my kvetching and go back to listening to snippets :listen:

  11. Regarding TV appearances, I noticed this morning that JKL doesn't have any guests announced, musical or otherwise, for June 1st. I'm hoping.

    <snip>

Dare I hope that Decca will get Tried & True reviewed favorably in a few major publications?

I'm "hoping" right along with ya! :cocktail:

I wonder if perhaps the TV/media appearances stuff won't be announced until the new site is complete and then posted there first? Seems like it would be cutting it too close but at least that thought gives me "hope" for some still to come :needclay:

  12. It would be great if Clay could win this one poll since it is Billboard and the timing is around his new CD drop. Just a thought

    Poll: Best "American Idol" Ever?

    http://www.billboard.com/features/top-24-american-idols-of-all-time-1004088662.story#/features/poll-best-american-idol-ever-1004088680.story

    Derek Watkins Trumpet, Flugelhorn

Hee...did anyone else get a little flutter of nostalgia when you read this?

    fluuuuugelhorn

I hope we get wind of some TV appearances soon.

    :yeahthat:

  13. First impression: Clay's going to need to tour with a brass section to recreate these songs, because the arrangements are pretty horn-heavy. I dig them!

You mean to say they're.....wait for it....

    ...horny? :imgtongue:

Yeah, baybay, I dig 'em too! :listen:

ETA: And just like that - the snippets disappeared from the OFC. Somebody's pushing buttons they're not supposed to be pushing on a Friday evening. :whistling-1:

Well shoot! Did anyone grab them before they disappeared? They could be in your temporary internet files if you listened to them.

I hope this works. Here is one that was captured by Invisible at the CC before they went poof -
