Thanks for the link - how fun was that? Clay is totally adorable, of course. It's interesting to see him in a somewhat more natural context. He looks as if he's enjoying himself, and I love to see that. And Jesse - great t-shirt! GoodNESS! It wasn't easy to get away from those dogs.

I don't have much to say this morning, but I'm really tired of being a dog walker. I have never walked a dog in my life. I'm hoping this post will get me fired from that job. So, I better find something to say. I guess all I have to say is that I've been reading here for almost 3 months, and while I don't post much (need to work on that), I am finding it comfortable here. I enjoy hearing different perspectives on just about anything. People and the way they see the world are interesting to me, and I've read so many interesting points of view here. The openness of the discussions and the lack of constant reinforcement of the same ideas is refreshing. Interesting question, Alice. Speaking of word choices, this one intrigued me. To me, ruminate implies thinking about something over and over in a way that is a bit compulsive. That might not at all be what Clay meant, but it did make me wonder about his thinking process. I probably think of the word that way because that is the connotation in my line of work. He probably just meant thinking a bit. Who knows?

Grits are great. Tre made the most amazing looking item using grits on Top Chef. Jello - now that's another story. Jello just creeps me out. Lime or otherwise. It moves of it's own free will. Not OK in a food. ------ A few thoughts on the fandom.... I can't relate to the reactions we saw on some of the boards yesterday. I just don't get it. And I was surprised to see such comments from people I didn't expect them from. I don't mean personal displeasure for the idea - that I get. I mean the expectations of Clay, the judgment of a decision that was unconfirmd, the anger toward him for not calming the masses. I'm trying to figure out where it came from, and all I can come up with is a loss of perspective, a level of investment, time spent, and relative isolation that keeps the real world from seeping in. My goodness, so many people went off the deep end instantaneously without even giving the poor guy time to know what's going on. I laughed at one banter comment this summer in which Clay was asking how many concerts people have been to, and he finally asks how many people have been to more than he's been to. That sort of says it all to me. Fans sometimes have more Clay- related information than he does, and don't realize it. Too much information, and yet not enough knowledge. I felt badly for him yesterday. So pre-judged. And his friends so maligned. And by people who profess to care about him, and who I believe really do in their way. And I felt badly for the fandom who seemed to suffer unnecessarily. I can only hope that some learning will come from this.

Interesting day in Clayland..... At Pala, Clay said something about how some fans would buy tickets to the bathroom. To read the boards today, you might think that was preferable to the possibility of a Reunitd tour. It's an interesting idea, and if it happens, I'll be there. I think it could be a lot of fun. A duet with Kelly? I love it in concept, but I don't think their voices or style are well suited to singing together. Truthfully, I don't care for duets, especially the dueling voices variety. I'm OK with the type that are more of an exhange. The only Clay duet I've ever liked was Jesus is Love with Ruben.

Ah, what I wouldn't have given up to hear Broken Wings... Just imagining how they might have pulled it off is interesting to me. I don't seek Clack for either medley, actually. I am looking for audio of Perfect Strangers in isolation, though. Is that one that you're working on, JaMar?

I was at Wolf Trap and loved it, probably because it was so spontaneous. I can imagine, though, that I might have felt differently if it were my only concert of the tour. ---- Ah, the Great Face series...

I am not a fan of the canned skits, either, Clazorback. While I loved the TV Theme Medley, I wasn't wild about the George Jefferson bit. Same thing with the Classics Medley - I loved it, and I appreciated the switch to the concept of singing 'cool' songs to become cool, but I didn't really enjoy the comic stuff around it at the end. Maybe that's because I saw it too many times. I love Clay's off the cuff banter, though. His ability to make the most of the affordances of the environment is impressive. So smart, quick, witty. I don't mind giving up a song or two for that. I also don't mind goofing during songs when it is impromptu. It's the planned stuff that doesn't appeal to me that much. I was actually a bit turned off by it in SD, but then the next 2 concerts were great! As others have said, each show has something unique. I really appreciate that. ----- AI breakout song for me was Tell Her About It. When he started the song slowly, I thought he was going to turn it into a ballad and didn't think that would go over well, but then he broke out and I just loved it. So much energy! There were many more impressive vocal performances, but that one really made me smile.

I think another big difference between Michael Buble and Clay is the type of music they sing. The covers Buble does appeal to people in a different way. He seems to have hit a need, or maybe more of a desire, that some music lovers have to hear that genre. And he does it well. I'm not a Buble fan. I bought one CD early on and tired of it quickly, but I can see the appeal. Clay is doing covers that I don't see the same or even a parallel market for. He does them exquisitely, but if the interest in that music isn't there, I don't think that will make a difference to many people outside of his existing fandom.

That's just dirrrrrrrrrrrty..... Hee - sort of a companion to one of my dreams. Clay was standing in front of my bushes watering my lawn. Too bad I was watching from the window, wishing I could talk with him. :26:
