  1. Geez, guess I'll go listen again, I thought he sounded great. I wasn't bothered that he didn't move around, he wasn't singing in front of a crowd. I haven't listened to SAU yet, but I thought all of the others sounded really good, and you know what? He was CUTE!
  2. Well I've certainly not been to as many concerts as many of you. I think my first major one was Dionne Warwick. Some of my favorites were Three Dog Night, The Who. Saw a few country acts, Alabama was one of my favorites in that genre. The last concert I went to before Clay was the co-headlining tour of Elton John and Billy Joel, that was definitely one of the best. Of the ones I've seen, I'm not sure I've seen anyone connect with an audience any better than Clay, and he's really the only one I've cared enough about to see more than a couple of times.
  3. Our family just got back from seeing the Indiana Jones movie too. We all really enjoyed it, it was a nice way to spend a way too cool spring afternoon.
  4. I really enjoyed that podcast interview. It is nice to have someone interview him who really gives him time to answer the questions. His feelings about AI are so much more clear in that interview. I thought it interesting that the interviewer being a broadway person, picked up on Simon's comment about Clay's voice being more suited for Broadway was given as an insult too.
  5. Luckiest, if you need someone right away to translate your card, my DIL who is Chinese is right here with me, she'd be happy to do it for you.
  6. KAndre', posts like this one of yours really help to put things into perspective for me. It's good to be reminded that other highly successful artists have taken time to build their careers. There are probably thousands of facts like this about other artists. I did enjoy Usher's second performance last night, I didn't see the first one. I'd say I enjoyed that guest performance the best of any I've seen on the show this year, although I will admit to not watching the results show early in the season.
  7. yep groceries and gas..I can bitch about that all day. I can't believe I quit my job We're here for ya, couchie :F_05BL17blowkiss:. Are you still doing the part time one?
  8. Hey, it ain't a rule, it's just a point of view. :F_05BL17blowkiss: I love a good rant myself, and I know none of it ever applies to YSRN. It's good to hear how she feels as well, and something to take into consideration. But it ain't no rule. Now, I'm embarrassed to say. I knew it wasn't a rule, I guess I should have included something in my post to indicate that. Moving on.....
  9. YSRN, since it was my post which obviously set you off I will say that I when I made my post I was responding to a point of view that I disagreed with, not to you personally. I didn't even know that you were one of the many posters who had expressed that opinion, not that it would or should change your response. I am not a member at the CH so I can't jump in and say I disagree with something over there. I did feel that I should be able to post an opinion on my home board where the tone of the fandom is often discussed. I should have remembered that no bitching about the bitching rule. It won't happen again.
  10. I'm sad about the numbers too, but I think I am more sad about the way the fandom has allowed itself to be splintered into something that vaguely reminds one of a fandom. I read posts from people saying they don't belong to a Clay fan message board to "help Clay". What? Times have sure changed haven't they. I understand that we the internet fandom can not do it alone, but I do believe that the tone of the internet fandom has a lot to do with keeping the excitement level up, at least it own excitement level. I believe that the online fan community was severely damaged by those who kept the gerbil wheel in motion after the release of ATDW, and that sadly fans turned away not only from the fanboards but from Clay all together. Others, I think are still out there, but because they're not plugged into all things Clay anymore they are probably not aware he has a new album out. Muski, you asked why did Clay feel the need to get the album out right after closing night of Spamalot, I think maybe he/TC may have felt they could take some good will, some good press and momentum from Spamalot right into the CD. I think he wanted to capitalize on that and Mother's day sales, perhaps over estimating what the size of the actual fanbase is. Maybe he thought he would gain some "paying his dues" points if people actually knew he was working his ass off. Maybe he/they thought he would gain some cross over points from Spam fans. I don't know, I don't really think it was a bad idea. Waiting a few weeks wouldn't have helped much IMO, he would have missed May sweeps. Who knows? I love the CD, and I'm not going to let sluggish sales make me feel like I shouldn't. Today, I was having lunch at Subway by myself and I took out my IPod. I listened, and I actually got a little PO'd, it's a shame any demographic of people should be made to feel that there tastes are "pedestrian" and it's a shame that any artist should be marginalized because of who his fans are. This is a damn good album. Sales........ I know he'll have at least 2 for next week.
  11. I actually think the blond hair makes him look younger, and think the style with bangs is a lot harder to manage. I think I like it styled more like it was on the CD cover, but it's not a big deal to me
  12. Well, I know I'm going to miss the almost daily dose of Clay Aiken that I've had since January 18th. I think I will try to concentrate on doing some fan things that might help. Instead of listening to Clay through my I-tunes I think I will seek out other places on the net to stream the songs. I'm not into my-space at all, but maybe listening to songs on his my space would be good. Someone on CV mentioned that A Simpson had 19 million listens on her my space. Ashlee freakin' Simpson, good god.
  13. And to Kyrie Ashes would be exactly what they did - show a tantalizingly lovely bit and then brutally cut it off. GAH!! I still don't quite get it, how is it that D101 is the new Duh, and Kyrie means to show something tantalizing and then it's cut off? Regarding the D101, I believe it is a reference from a scene in Spamalot I added a longer explanation to my earlier post. Kyrie, was a song he sang on Kimmel a couple of years ago, but it was at the end of the show (just like Ashes was last night) so the song was cut off after just a few lines and we never got to hear the full version of that performance. So, some have come to use the word Kyrie as a verb. ie, " I hope they don't Kyrie Ashes" I hope this makes sense now, I think I need to get to bed.
  14. I'm thinking that since the song is so shortened for these appearances that he would be better off to start singing it full out like he was singing the second verse. IMO it is harder to sing softer and not have the voice crack a little especially when you're doing the first song. I must be a fuddy duddy, I didn't think the sweater looked bad, but Heidi, you might be right about the lights in the studio.
  15. Claytonic, I think D101 is the new Duh ITA is I totally agree Oh, and Kyrie, is a song Clay sang on Kimmel a couple of years ago, he sung it as the show was going off air and so it was cut short and we never got to see the full version of it which was supposed to be really good. So some are using it as a verb to describe cutting a song short, which is what happened with Ashes, but Jimmy did say the full version would be shown on line.
  16. Since I haven't watched AI for a long time, I haven't seen much of Ryan. He looked really different to me. His face looked fuller, I saw no spark in his eyes at all, one of the things that was really different, was no fake bake. When they showed pics from the show his face looked more chiseled, it sure didn't look that way tonight. His behavior was a little odd too. I thought Ryan was going to pull a Tom Cruise there in his chair a time or two. Clay's segment, not my favorite Kimmel, but he is always a good sport, laughs a lot. Fan segment, could have done without it. Clay's comment about some fans trying to laugh louder than other fans and the texting thing. Might just have been his way of saying he knew what was going on. Of course I've heard him sing better, but I didn't think it was bad. Clay, go rest and do what ever you need to do to refresh your soul. You did a great job in Spamalot and put out a great album. I'm proud of you, what will be will be. :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  17. Just showed a promo for JKL, they showed clips from 3 of Clay's previous appearances. I think the voiceover said and Clay Aiken rides in to show Jimmy some love. They were showing video of Clay on the Donkey. They also showed brief video of Clay beating Kimmel up and walking in with the heart shaped bouquet of balloons.
  18. Yeah, Play, I just listened and I agree, I had edited my post above.
  19. I thought this was another song that it sounded like Clay sang the harmonies/backup vocals? Anyone else? ETA: I'm listening now, and I hear others singing back up too.
  20. Iseeme, I don't think Jacob had entered the picture yet when WINY was recorded if in fact it was recorded when the MOAM songs were recorded. I think Jacob's first work with Clay was during the IT
  21. So what time does the show tape? I'm starting to think I need to keep a paper bag next to my computer in the coming weeks.
