  1. I too have to go through my plastic tubs to sort through things. Although my sister teases that I have more stuff than she has, a good part of the stuff was given to me by her, i.e. the bobblehead doll, Rolling Stone, EW and other magazines, a copy of TITN cd, ornaments.

I have cut out many magazine articles from our local paper in NC (not all good). I won three blue water bottles that say Clay on them at JBT preparty. I have an autographed magazine that I bought from BAF, an autographed picture and cd from Krispie Kreme and the autographed fan club picture. Pins, mug, candle and other stuff I bought are also in the tubs. Plus I have many pins.

I have to start d/l some clack from Clearwater since I cleaned off my hard drive and moved everything over to an external drive. He was definitely on fire that night.

By the way bottlecap, my husband was making origami penquins after Christmas until I told him to stop at which point he started making origami bugs. I told him I would make him a cootie catcher, a skill I remember from elementary school. B)

  2. Raleigh Recap

Better late than never. I went to the concert with three friends, two had never seen Clay in person and one had never heard him sing. We started out at 4:15, when I picked everyone up from their place of employments. It would take us about two hours to get to Raleigh from Winston-Salem. We stopped to eat on the way. I got a little nervous when it was 5:30 and we had only gone 10 miles. I increased my speed a little and we made it to the RBC Center at 7:10, only to be faced with a terrible traffic jam entering the parking area. We finally parked by 7:45 and hurried into the concert. We got in at the last song played by William Joseph.

Waiting for the concert to start we fiddled with our cameras making sure we didn’t have any flashes. I went up to an usher with black tape to get a few more layers added to my tape. I kept flashing at her until she was satisfied that it was covered adequately.

My friend and I sat in the sixth row. We had an amazing view. Clay looked great and was very joyous. During the first act I was amazed when he came down on our side and smiled to someone in the audience and breaking character. Little did I know that it was his grandfather sitting two rows in front of us. We were so engrossed in the show we didn’t notice him until after the intermission. I called Playbiller and found out who it was.

Clay was going all out in Raleigh. I had noticed in Charlotte he was saving his voice a little. In HYAMLC I noticed that Adam Kent danced a much more subdued dance than he had in Charlotte. My friends loved the dancers in the show. We were supposed to change seats with our friends after the first act as they had the fourteenth row seats. The friend I was sitting with said that she hoped they didn’t want to change seats. Fortunately for us they were happy with their seats and we went back to the sixth row.

During the second part Clay was absolutely on fire. He got standing ovations after every song. At least I did. My friend who has no kneecaps was unable to stand much. His change ups on TFN gave me goose bumps. Of course when Clay acknowledged his grandfather and explained why they were doing a special number for him we were in shock. I had never heard that song before but my friend told me they had sung it in church. My other friend sitting in the back later told me she was hoping for this song. After DSIAFCD I told me friend that he really knows how to put on a show. She in turn said that now she knew why I went to more than one show.

On the way home they all talked about how much they loved the show. They loved Clay and thought that his voice was amazing. They also thought that he was plain folk, which is a big compliment.

  3. Per Playbiller:

thiught people had said it is the cellcert - people were saying Clay sounded sick over the cell in Raleigh. Actually, people think he is sick over most of the cellcerts.

That could be possible. He sounded just fine to me in Raleigh although the sound was not as great as in Charlotte.

  4. bottlecap I did a Charlotte review in the Charlotte thread. I haven't organized my thoughts about Raleigh yet. But just a quick thought. My friends who have never seen Clay including one who has never heard him absolutely loved the entire show. Two of them had been hoping he would sing OBOB. I guess its pretty popular in NC churches.

  5. At the Raleigh show someone started yelling at my friend that she was flashing, but her flash turns off and stays off. She tried to show the woman that it was off to no avail.

A young woman in back of us did flash and Clay gave her a look during HN. She fell to the floor in embarrassment.

I'll bet the next tour will be no cameras.

  6. Here is my sorry recap from Charlotte. I just mean I am a really bad writer. The concert was great...

    Charlotte:

My cynical husband and I attended JNT2005. He has bad knees and no fat on his butt, which makes concert going a little difficult. Anyway here is my opinion and his of this concert:

I loved everything about it. The sound was the best I had ever heard. Perhaps our seats were in an ideal location? We were about row 27. I couldn’t see any faces so I had a general view of the proceedings. I felt more involved with the play and did not focus on Clay unless he was singing. At that distance the dancing was great except for a little bit at HYAMLC where Adam appeared to be doing a belly dance while ballroom dancing. But in Raleigh being a lot closer I did not notice this. The vignettes were sweet and the acting good. Clay was in great voice all evening. My husband really enjoyed the first part and agreed that Clay has a great voice.

During the intermission Mr. Fear’s pain intensified so he went to get a drink thinking it might help, but the pain to his wallet was worse as it cost him $20.

Clay sang great as usual but I could tell he wanted to save his voice for Raleigh. Nevertheless the songs of the second half were beautifully sung. No one got up for standing ovations except for the front rows. Most of the people near me did not even clap except after DSIAFCD. One of the ushers told me that people did not know this was going to be a Christmas concert. At least she thought it was great.

During OHN, Clay did a move with his legs that was a little GBOF and Elvis. So far there is no video of this. Mr. Fear did not like Part II at all. He thought it was too religious and would have liked a fun song thrown in there. He also missed the dancers all of whom he really enjoyed in the first part. But over all he enjoyed the concert. I, on the other hand, couldn’t wait to see it again. I really think Clay did a great job with the storyline and meshing the songs into it.
